"The Lesula, or Cercopithecus lomamiensis, is the first new species of monkey found in 28 years."

Would you take a look at that fucking face. That monkey has seen some shit. He looks more depressed than me.

Zooba.
I'm with King, looks pretty CGI, but if real it's the closest to looking like a human I've ever seen a monkey. Possible proof that humans evolved from apes?

Possible proof that humans evolved from apes?
There is already proof of that.
Vastly overwhelming proof.

Amazing that we still find these things. When we discover a new frog or something, it's like, yeah, I can see how that would have remained hidden. But these are like little hairy people.

To be fair, we can never have too much evidence supporting one theory.

I wonder if people are still arguing for and against the theory of gravity. Yep, it's just a theory. But in any case - those fuckers DO look depressed.

You have to feel sorry for them don't you - it's like they are fully aware of how shit their life is.

On the subject of evolution, have you heard of chromosomal 'adam' and mitochondrial 'eve'?

It actually blows my mind to think that we have a single common ancestor (as in every living human today) from as little as 60 thousand years ago.

TO clarify - it is not at all related to the religious concept of adam and eve, they are essentially just cute names to represent our most recent common ancestor. Our most recent female common ancestor stretches back about 200 thousand years - it says a lot about the # of a children a man can have versus a woman, doesn't it :)

Study evolutionary biology and you just might :)

Please note that evidence of evolution is not proof that there is no god. (I also happen to believe that there is no god) but those two things are not mutually exclusive.

I realise that it is commonly taught in religious organizations to reject evolution, however believing or disbelieving in one is not a reason to believe nor disbelieve in the other.

Even the Pope acknowledges evolution.

That's not really for me to know or answer. Where do you think monkeys came from? Or to cut a long story short where do you think anything came from?

out of a void, comes matter, and antimatter.
Out of matter, comes the cosmos.
out of the matter that comprises this planet, comes form - mountains, oceans, tectonic movement, etc.
The first spark of life was a combination of amino acids and electricity to create a single celled organism.
over time, single celled organisms combine and mutate.
gradually, organisms get more complex.

Cool. To me that all seems far too coincidental. Just the way the human body works to me screams creation not development. Evolution especially to me seems far to coincidental. They say evolution happened over millions of years. Humans cannot mate with monkeys so over these millions of years it seems very coincidental to me that 2 monkeys at the exact same time would evolve into 2 species that are able to mate. That's just one of my issues. I don't want to create a "religion vs. science" berate over here though we've seen how these turn out.

Ok, but I'm not sure you are correctly envisioning what evolution exactly is. it's not about randomness - it's about natural selection. I'm going to take it for granted that you know that human and chimp DNA are more than 98% similar.

So in a way - modern species ARE designed, but they are designed by the species and the environment - not some cosmic overlord.

Is it somehow controversial to you that trout you find in England are different to trout you find in Australia, though they belong to the same sub-species? I doubt it. Different animals have demonstrably adapted to their environments.

The egg came before the chicken.

There's no debate here to be had. You're wrong, but you're the one who has to live with that jester::

How can I be wrong? I haven't stated anything other then that I don't believe in the Theory of evolution. Someone cannot be wrong or right for believing in something that is only a theory.

I'd just like to state for the record that a discussion on the origin of species is not a debate about religion.
