I definitely don't see it that way but you know...opinions, what're ya gonna do? ![]() The whole scream/growl thing is much the same concept of why I can't understand why people can't listen to techno of any kind simply because it's not played on an actual instrument. |

I can understand people not liking Axl's voice. It's very whiny but I think he makes it work for him. To touch on the guitar playing for screamo bands aswell. Like I said about their being no heart, the solo's just about always just sound emotionless. Like the guitarist didn't even listen to the lyrics he just went into a studio and played a couple of scales at full speed. For example, the solo for November Rain pretty much captures the emotion of the whole song. It's beautiful. One thing I've always liked with my singers is passion. That's why I love singers like Axl, Robert Plant, Steven Tyler, Phill Lynott they are very passionate singers, very full of energy. if you listen to Civil War below by Guns N Roses there is just a burst of energy from Axl that really brings out the tone of the song. |

It's not as if I don't understand why people don't care for screaming and growling vocals, it just doesn't make any sense to me. I will always love a band if they sound good, regardless of there's any so-called "heart" in their music. (The whole "heart" thing is something I don't get, if a band sounds good what's it matter if they cared about the music, made it together or separately or if it was made for any other reason other than to be edgy?) |

It's not as if I don't like songs without heart. Heck I still love bands like Blink 182 who just do it for the fun of it. Just IMO the best bands/performers out there are the ones that care about it and put their hearts into it. Led Zeppelin (Love their music so much they wont even let it be licensed except in special occasions), GnR, Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton.... all of these put heart into their music and that's why they will go down as some of the best bands/performers that ever lived. People can relate to it if theres actual emotion there. |

I admit, I'm a very superficial person so that might be part of it. The whole heart thing doesn't hold any value for me whatsoever, if I'm gonna care about something for heart it's gonna be something I do myself such as a relationship. As far as music goes, it's an outlet for entertainment and takes me away from the problems of the world so I just let my imagination use the music to come up with random scenarios whether it merely be an epic battle or some sort of romantic situation. Basically I make music videos in my mind based on the music I'm listening to.

It's fun having opinions that people believe are wrong, like Disturbed being the best band ever and having the best vocals of anyone...ever. ![]() I should mention that I respect your opinions that you have stated in here, HeLeeHam, just that I don't agree with them. I am very competitive when it comes to my opinions, especially since I get a lot of crap about them from other people so it makes me somewhat defensive.

I'm the same and it's enough for me usually but when my opinions are challenged I go into a blind rage and smash chairs on peoples' heads that don't agree. jk It just blows my mind that people aren't as open-minded about music as I am. Music in general has so much to offer and I don't believe there is such thing as a genre that can be considered bad in any way. |

I wasn't implying you specifically. You obviously aren't close-minded you just have a few common things against the music I listen to that I hear all the time. ![]() But yeah, most people I ever talk to have very specific interests or they say they are open-minded but actually don't like a lot of stuff that requires you to be open-minded. These are the people who can't stand the weird music like the Llama song or Caramelldansen. ![]()

For me, the weirdest thing I listen to that most can't get into are showstopping numbers. You all know what I'm talking about because of our conversation about them and Gabe saying he hated them. ![]() I've always loved them, part of the reason I loved a lot of cartoon movies was the songs like Anastasia's In The Dark Of The Night sung by Rasputin (one of the best cartoon villains EVER) |

HeLeeham's got good taste in music, he just appears to not be a fan of growls and of 200+BPM chaos. It's cool - that stuff is not for everyone. |

It's not that I'm not a fan of growls. Like I said I can listen to Slipknot because they do it well. Also I don't have a problem listening to 200bpm chaos, I just don't think its a contender for best style. |

Believe it or not I used to not care for growling at all at first. When I was first getting into metal I thought it kinda ruined the songs but as I listened to more metal with growling in it I got used to it then I started to even like it. Dethklok and Skeletonwitch have the best growling ever imo. |

As much as I like Disturbed (David has an awesome voice, no argument there) my favorite metal singers are a toss-up between Mikael Akerfeldt, Matt Barlow, and the godly Hansi Kursch. HeLeeHam, ever listened to Demons & Wizards? Res, you seem to be liking Iced Earth. Demons & Wizards is a side-project of Iced Earth and Blind Guardian, with the singer from the latter and the guitarist of the former. One of my favorite bands of all time. OF ALL TIME! Ahem. |
