I finally finished reading the final book based in the Gears of War universe. It was alright. It wasn't my favorite book in the series, as that would be Coalition's End, but, as a huge fan of the games, I found it to be worth my time.

I'm about to start reading Bioshock: Rapture, a book based around the rise and fall of Rapture. I hear the writing in it is less than stellar. I'm a bit hesitant about it.

As an aspiring writer, I feel I should read more philosophical and sophisticated works. Last I tried to pick out a sophisticated work, I picked out Atlas Shrugged...I imagine Bioshock: Rapture is going to be a lot like Atlas Shrugged, as both focus on objectivist and capitalism.

Do you all find time to read? If so, what are you currently reading? What are your favorite books?

Drop everything and read anything by David Foster Wallace or Terry Pratchett.

Terry Pratchett is one of my favourites, with anything involving Sam Vimes being pretty consistently his best imo.

My favourite author though is probably Bill Bryson, a travel writer. Really dry and sarcastic, but with a very sombre, sad side to some of his more nostalgic work. Definitely recommended.

If you count online forums, I read quite a bit as well.

...books that I have read, including "required reading" throughout school? You can count 'em on both hands jester::

I am raging so hard right now Gabe :p

You, Sero, are excused from my rage. Can't beat a good book, though I admit trawling gfaqs does have its obvious appeal :D

The Halo books, excluding 'The Flood', turned out to be a *lot* better than I was expecting. Most notably 'The Fall of Reach' and 'First Strike'.

Recently read through some Hemingway and Cormac McCarthy's The Road, which is an amazing piece of literature.

Right now, I'm currently working through the Bourne series which I have also found enjoyable, they are nothing like the movies, and imo I find them a heck of a lot more enjoyable.
