hahaha true enough, some kids teamed up on me cause I always try to look at the positives of games. So, apparently, if you try to have fun with every game possible, it makes you a "new age troll" |

I agree with this, something I hate the most is that when you disagree with some one who has gone into full on hate mode towards a game, and even elaborate on why you disagree you're automatically labelled a fanboy. I remember an instance on the Max Payne 3 boards where someone made a topic about the games controls saying they were "clunky' and "unusable" and he used that as a reason to hate on the rest of the game. I explained to him that the controls were not clunky, just weighty, I used the example of suddenly changing direction, when you do that, Max will shift his weight to his other foot and then changes, causing a tiny delay, as it would realistically, I then explained this is because they mo-capped thousands of movements for Max to make him move realistically as possible. His response was basically "Lol a game where you can go into slow motion is realistic? Lol again, you're just an over defensive fanboy hurr hurr". |

What does "clunky" even mean? No one can seem to describe it to me. |

I've always described "clunky" with a game that is not very ergonomic. Where button functions clash with other ones that confuse your hands more than they need to, even if you can get used to it. I would also say clunky is when a game's hit detection and friction/physics are wonky and make it hard to be accurate and/or speedy when the game clearly calls for being accurate and/or speedy. I suppose "clunky" would be most easily described as "trying to do something but it's mechanics fall a bit short" Or at least that's how I've always described it myself. Oh and not sure if I replied to the fanboy thing but I totally agree. Fanboy has been turned into such a derogatory term it's sickening. I AM a fanboy of many things (Sonic, Wild Arms 2, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Spongebob, RPGs in general, etc) but when someone sees or says "fanboy" they are usually talking about the crazies that make the real fanboys look like absolute freaks. (Totally disregard the fact that I am an absolute freak )

Push left, guy doesn't move. Push it again, guy moves after a second or two. Need to equip a different weapon? Push the Back button, then RB twice, then highlight the weapon, press A, down twice, A again, then Back to exit the menu. Want to talk to the guy behind the counter so you can progress the story? Nope, you need to move a little closer. No, now you're too close. Now you're too far right. One more millimeter to the east, ah, the command prompt finally appears. ...all examples of "clunkiness". |

Ah yes, this would be a good example too. Some of that kinda goes with my "hit detection" thing too. When you have to be in an exact place or buttons don't activate right when you press them. Example: Final Fantasy XIII, when you try to move with a character it takes them a second to actually start moving. |

Actually, I should reword that a little. Clunkiness is when you can feel what a game SHOULD be able to do but doesn't quite hit the mark. Not so much what it's advertised to do but what you feel you should be able to do with the mechanics given to you but it doesn't quite do those things correctly. |

Play Bayonetta, then play Heavenly Sword. One of these games was known to have clunky combat. Care to wager a guess on which one? |

I've always heard Bayonetta's combat was the best combat experience in all of gaming bar DMC which the idea of it came from in the first place if I remember correctly. |

Every time I go into Gamestop and see Heavenly Sword I'm tempted to buy it, I really should. That and Enslaved are made by the same developer and Enslaved's demo was amazing. (I need to get that as well) |

So....hipster. Another word that I hate to see on the internet in general, especially Gamefaqs. Dunno how many of you saw the music topic but dayum I hate when people use that word, especially in a way to insult others like that. |

You guys have covered the classics, so I really need to dig: Vanilla - another word that is kinda in the vein of generic. But this one got to me when the fan of the Ninja Gaiden Sigma series (cause he only had a PS3) would refer to the great Tomonobo Itagaki version of Ninja Gaiden 2 as vanilla. Talk about an insult. Butthurt - Since they dont hyphenate or split into two words, I will include. But yeah. Like I could ever possiby get sore over discussion about a game. And I don't ever want a visual of anything that could actually really make my butt hurt. No thanks. Confirmed. ok, confirming things is good. Quoting something else and typing "confirmed" whatever fits your agenda on GameFAQ is not. Fixed. (or fix'd) Ok, I've been know to indulge on this one on occasion, I will admit, when someone posts something REALLY dumb. And I really hate when people post "I could care less", I'm sure you could! and P.S I have an even less favorable experience with Heavenly Sword than Gabrius. The combat is very clunky, much like in Enslaved. Both are decent rentals though......I'm not a big Ninja Theory or Serkis fan |

Oh, and I forgot the most obvious: GAMESTOP. Jesus christ, these kids do nothing but whine about the fucking place. Do they have to shop anywhere else in the real world? Edited by MrMikeNC, Oct 25 2012, 03:31 PM.

Psh, go to a different store. My store has awesome employees and I always love talking with them. They do have shitty trade-in values though. (Less than a dollar for Duke Nukem Forever when they sell it for 8? How about Glory of Heracles for the same trade-in value when they sell it for 15?) |

You know, totally random half-change of subject but I hate people that say to shop online because it's more convenient and less "shady" but what happened to the thrill of the hunt? Does no one like to bet on the chances they'll find a certain game anymore? Does no one want to hunt down a game that's 15 miles away instead of at your nearest store? Man, the internet has ruined some things for people. |

There are a few who really piss me off with it actually-- like the one on the PS3 board laughing about cancelling all these preorders with an employee and how he was begged not to do it, knowing full well the effect. Malicious dickhead taking pleasure in hurting some innocent hourly grunt. Though I'm no fan of the corporate policies and have ranted about those myself, I hate how some of them blame it on the workers without stopping to think for a second, "Gee, maybe this poor dude HAS to ask me this stuff..." or just enjoy tormenting them.

"Shoehorned Multiplayer" .. I can't fucking stand when people act like multiplayer in a game is 'never the true purpose of a game' and that only single player features in a game somehow count towards the overall merits of a game. Especially when they (as a person who never plays multiplayer in games) think they have any idea on what makes a multiplayer mode good or not. That's such bullshit. |

100% agree colin. People who say that shit about Assassins Creed pisses me off. Yeah, Brotherhood and Revelations weren't the best in the series, but the multiplayer was a blast. |

Multiplayer never counts. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. I played like 15 minutes of Monster Hunter online in like 2005. Joking aside, that shit drives me crazy. |
