Guess I may as well get this out of the way, since this topic will be deleted and there will be no refuttal, Bullet Witch was a good game.

Haha, that was quick! And it is funny how I still remember stuff like that in games after all these years...

That's nothing. I had an ooooooold mate round a few months ago and he went through the first level of Duke Nukem 3D.

I'd played it recently and gotten through the first level or two. But when he played it... Screw me! Every secret he found like he was reading a guide as he was playing it...All done from memory.

We both used to play it a *lot* as a youngsters, but wow, he remembered a lot, it was a beautiful sight to behold!

"Mary is not amused" I'd be shocked if anyone knew what game that was from.

It was from this old game called "Valhalla".

In those games the first thing we would try to input, was "fuck" something, and in this game for some reason, if you typed in "fuck", a message displayed "Mary is not amused", and this little creature would come out of nowhere and punch you. Pretty crazy.

Can you guess it? jester::

It's probably obvious though, darn me and my lack of knowledge of obscure games. I only know a few lesser-known games. :(

The only codes from back in the day I remember (other than the Konami code obviously) are WJQK, which will take you to like level 20 in Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and ABBAABBA, which is the level select code for Aladdin on the Genesis.

Aladdin on the Genesis? Man, what an awesome game that was. I completely forgot about that. I used to think that it was pretty amazing for its time.

Yep. Playing Wonder Boy in Monster Land yesterday in the Monster Land collection, I realize just how much. And that is with the addition of a save-anytime feature!

^ I never played that back when it came out, but after playing the trial I grabbed some points to pick it up. It will be interesting to see what else they put out from those collections.

Yeah, it does seem like the difficulty jumps pretty quick on one of those boss fights. Maybe that's the spoiled game-player in me talking.

Man I would love to play that game again. That would bring back some good memories. The reason I bring up having more patience at the time is because I had that level memorized perfectly.

This game may not be the perfect example, but the lengths of time or learning we would put into some of these older games, just for the love of continuing them is pretty damn awesome.

I read the SHMUP topic every now and again, and those guys seem to do the same.
