Ok so now that Stas has finally taught everyone how to do water i guess i can add a thread here about it without treading on his toes. thiers gonna be pics again but for now its just gonna be a text only tut. So you have a level you have marked out an area that you like to become a pool of water/lava/acid/piss but how do you create said fluid?? 1./ Right click the "box" builder brush and make it the same size as the area you want to contain water (so if your area is 256x1024x378 then your builder will be the same) just for my own personal preferance i always leave a gap of 16units between the top of the water and the edge of the solid ground 2./ Once your brush is positioned correctly you will need to Right click the "ADD VOLUME" button (clear looking box) and choose water volume from the list and you will end up with a nice pink box that contains your water. (you can swin but you cannot see it at this point in time) 3./ Open the "Actor browser" (chess peice) and then expand the "info" section and select "FLUID SURFACE INFO" (fsi) then right click the center of your water area and select "ADD FLUID SURFACE INFO HERE" you will get a default bubble texture over your water. 4./Now open the texture browser and find yourself a nice watery texture (or lava or blood or piss or acid you know the score), then open the properties for your "fsi" and in display click "skins" then add you will notice the skin has now got the texture you selectedand so does te "fsi" in the perspective veiwport. Now a few little things just to make it look purty...... Set a light in the center of your water make it the same colour as the water surface only darker almost black to give the underwater section a nice dank feel. On the "WATER VOLUME" properties (pink box) open volume fog set a nice colour for that generally the same kinda colour as the light you just added maybe a little brighter. And if you went for the acid, lava, piss options....... open the properties for the "Water volume" and in "PHYSICS VOLUME" change "bpaincausing" to true and set an ammount for it to hurt the player per second. You should now have everything you will need to create some water that you can add to your level make it pretty and deadly. HAPPY MAPPING ADAM Edited by adam, Dec 12 2008, 09:35 AM.
