Saber stood still and strong as the dark knight appeared before her at the beckoning of her master's opponent. She grimaced, however, when he removed his mask and she looked into the knight's eyes. They weren't natural, but they seemed familiar all the same. She hardly had time to think, however, as the dark knight began his attack. No, he was already there. His sword was already moving. All she could do was react, and react she did. Moving before she could think about the action itself, she gripped her sword tightly and moved in, swinging to meet the knight's attack.

The instant the two swords clashed, a shockwave was unleashed throughout the room that hit Adam hard enough to make him lower his stance so that he wouldn't be pushed over by it. For a moment, the two knights squared off against each other before the dark knight overpowered Saber, following through on his swing and causing her to skid backward several meters. Normally, Saber's large amount of mana would make up for her rather petite figure, but the opponent she was facing was simply bigger, more toned, and wielding an even greater amount of mana. Mana could only make up some of the distance between her opponent's think muscular arms and her own femininely slender ones.

Saber had a different advantage though. She hadn't yet revealed her full number of noble phantasms. She had seen the dark knight notice the wind around her weapon, so perhaps he thought that she only had one. As she skidded back across the floor, her left hand reached across her body to her right side by her waist. Gripping something that couldn't be seen, she lowered her stance and prepared to rush back into the fray when-...

A light brighter than anything Adam had ever seen flooded the room, forcing him to shield his eyes. This wasn't just a spell that was being conjured. This was on a whole other level even from the spells that he and Andrew had been flinging at each other. It had to be one of the Servant's doing. Before the light had even faded, the room began to shake and the sound of crumbling stone was clearly heard. Opening his eyes in time to dodge a small slab of rock that had been part of the ceiling. "Come on!" he shouted urgently to the knight princess that he had summoned. "We've gotta get out of here!"

Hearing his call, the girl halted just as she was about to rush in and attack the dark knight that was Andrew's servant again. As Adam turned and ran for the door, the girl turned and followed, quickly catching up with him. As they ran, the ceiling and roof began to cave in around them, slabs of stone and roofing falling all around them. The room was collapsing too quickly and the door was too far away. "Get down!" he called to the girl beside him as he dove sideways, literally tackling her to the ground as the shield and wind formed around them as the corner of the church collapsed down around them.

In the darkness under the rubble of the church, a small commotion was made as Adam rolled sat up and steadied his mind to maintain the shield that was now holding the rubble up around them. Beside him, there was some movement as the girl in white rolled over and stood up in the barrier. "Sorry about that," said Adam apologetically as he realized that he had just tackled her to the ground. "Are you hurt?" He had no idea why that last line had come out, but he had just felt an obligation to ask.
"No, I'm fine," answered the calm and cool voice of the girl. She didn't seem phased at all. "Please lower your shield, Master. I shall create a way out for us to escape."

A moment later, roofing and foundation were thrown everywhere as a small explosion opened a path up to the outside of the church. Using whatever it was that was that she had been using as a weapon, the girl had blown a hole through the rubble with a single strike. In a matter of seconds, both master and servant were up and out of the church, quickly fleeing the scene.

INTERLUDE 1-3

Archer gasped. He was going to die. If he didn't move, he would die. The roof began to crumble. One piece after another, it fell. He had to run. He had to run. Run. Run. Run. He keeps commanding his legs to move, but they won't. He keeps telling his arms to defend, but they won't. He's frozen in awe. That servant just blocked an attack almost on par with Excalibur! It was too much. Archer was in fear. Grrrrrrrriiiiiiiii. Blades grind on his body.

My body is made of swords Krrrssshhhh. Metal grinds against metal. The whip lashes against him, rending flesh.

My body is made of swords. Move. Move. Move. The metal can't keep repairing flesh. The metal will give out, and he will die. It's buying time. With each lash of the whip, more and more metal moves in. He needs to retreat. Retreat. Retreat. Retreat!!

"Kuh!" He snaps out of the trance he was in, dodging the third, and most likely fatal blow of the whip. Though, rider continued it's neverending relent. Dodge. Dodge. Dodge. Archer tells his mind what to do, and it does it. He jumps on some of the rubble, gripping his side. The skin's shredded, and he feels cold steel. Run. The whip lashes out, and Archer climbs up the crevice that his sword made. He's too low on mana to even defend. All he can do is dodge. He makes a mad dash out of the room above the basement, panting heavily. Dogs come and attack him, though he dodges them barely.

"Fufu...." He's outside. He's safe. He won't die, yet. The Beasts continue to pursue him, though. Archer begins to tire by the minute. Find master. Find master. Find master. All that Archer has to do is search throughout the tainted city for his master. The grass is covered in an ebon sludge, and everything has a twilight feeling to it. His legs frantically gasp for air, the swords still covering his body. Run. Run. Run.
INTERLUDE 1-3 OUT
Ryu looks around frantically, projecting his sword. One comes from the right, he cuts it down. The wolf falls back into the sludge, returning to the land. A second, and a third. He hops back, slicing each of them with his sword. They keep pursuing. They are in a never ending cycle. Slash. More come. Slice. More come. The road begins to fill with the same goop as the grass near the church. In the distance, Ryu hears an explosion. Archer? He grunts, and runs off. Scrambling Reinforcement onto his limbs, he runs off. He actually had gotten it right that time. He could never use reinforcement on his body before. He slashes through the incoming wolves, running towards the church.

"Haaa.... Archer!?" He found his servant, battered and bloodied. He was dodging against two wolfs. Ryu didn't think. His instincts told him to save his servant. He followed his instincts without question, charging at the shadow wolfs. He grips vulf, driving it into one. The other one flies at Ryu from behind, only to be whipped by the sword as Ryu rips it through the first one. Ryu glares at Archer, but sighs deeply.

"Come on, we have to escape these guys! I know a place outside the suburbs where we can go!" He grabs Archer's hand, running off. Archer looks astonished at his master's strength. It nearly matches, if not overpowers, his own. The boy's certainly stronger than most masters in terms of physical ability. With a huff, Archer succumbs to his wounds. To alleviate his master, Archer returns to spirit form. Ryu knows what Archer's going to do as they run off.

The Gift, and the Birth of an Idea

"Run away cowards!" yelled Andrew as his enemies fled from the Church. It seemed even with Servants at their side they didn't have enough courage to stand, and fight. But this gave Andrew a unique chance to experiment with his forces. " Come to me my Shadows!" beckoned Andrew as an idea sprouted in his mind. As Andrew called back his Shadows many of the buildings in the City crumbled as the mud from the Grail claimed more of the City. As the Shadows began to gather in the Church Andrew tuned to James " I should give you a small reward since your Servant did help drive back those magus." said Andrew as a small black ball of energy appeared in his hand. What he did next was unexpected even to the Servants nearby. With a crackle of energy he drove the ball into the blind man's forehead, and it began to flow into the his body causing James to fall to his knees. Most of the energy flowed into his eyes, and his vision was restored. The rest flowed into the man's own magical circuits giving him a small boost of energy that might prove addictive. As he felt his magic do it's work Andrew spoke to the man once more before turning to the Shadows gathered in the room "Enjoy the gift.", reached out to the first of his Shadows. As his hand touched the first magic began to flow into it granting it something it lacked, and changing it's form. From the mud that formed it's body armor began to form, and the Shadow quickly took the form of a knight in black armor. As it rose the Knight Shadow did something that would shock James, it spoke "Greetings Master." said the Knight as it addressed Andrew for the first time. A demonic smile appeared on Andrews face as his little experiment brought fruit with the very first subject, but he still need to test one key aspect of that experiment. " Raise the army! We are going to finish this War." commanded Andrew as his eyes turned black. As if in resonance the Knight's eyes lit up with red light as magic began to flow from it's body. As the magic touched the nearby Shadows they each began to change.

The Birth of the Shadow Army

As the magic flowed through the Church, Andrew began to laugh as the Shadows transformed. The wolf-like Shadows were a disappointment to Andrew as he needed to control them through their mental link or they would just go wild. But with the birth of his human like Shadows they should be able to act more effectively on their own. As the Shadows took human form a mix of weapons appeared in their hands. Some of the Shadows became swordsmen, Archers, and other familiar combat roles from the past. As they formed ranks, and awaited orders Andrew smiled as he spoke " I know you all once severed under me as mindless beasts once, but now you serve as warriors. As you know the Grail is under attack by those who would rather see it destroyed than see our mission succeed. But they are few in number, and once this City falls we will have enough power to deal with any threat thrown at us. Our enemies are tired, weak, and are trapped in the City, but they still posse a threat. So it is your mission to support Saber, and Rider in slaying our foes. You will also clear the City of any remaining trash as you were before.!" , and chorus of cheers, wild screams, and the sound of weapons being drawn answered Andrew's small speech. Turing to address James, Rider, and Saber Andrew began to give out orders "Rider, and James you'll go after the Servant in Red with a large amount of Shadows with you as support, while Saber, and I will deal with the other pair unless you have some objections." stated Andrew.

INTERLUDE 1-4

James nodded without hesistation. He had a sinister grin snarled on his face; He could see. James Stiles could see for the second time in his life. Everything was so vivid. He nodded to his servant, who would most likely understand him in an instant. Lets go is all that he needed to convey as he looked towards the army.

"On me! Slaughter any foe in your path! Devour the knight in red, but leave the boy for me!" He barked out, walking forward. After a few moments, the army of Shadow troops stormed out past him, filing out of the door like a gush of water. Stiles walked on, expecting his servant to follow. The time for death would come...
INTERLUDE OUT

Archer was helped up by Ryu, who panted heavily. Despite everything that had happened, they both were tired. Then, archer went into his dematerialized form, saving magical energy and stamina.

"Come, Archer..." Ryu grips on to himself tighter, pumping more magical energy in. To his house. That would be a good place to start. Ryu limped off, trying to escape anything behind him. Run. Run. Run. His instincts told him to run as fast as he could. It was five minutes until his house.

Finally, he made it. He was greeted by a grim sight. His house was torn up, and that muck was everywhere. Abbiah! Was she alive? No. No. No. No. It can't be. It can't be. She can't be dead. He won't accept it. He won't accept her death, and move on. She has to be alive. Some how, some way, she HAS to be alive. Ryu won't acknowledge her death. No. No. No. No. No.

"Damn it. Where is she?" Ryu bites his lip, refusing to acknowledge what has happened here. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. That's the only word that's going through his mind. He can't speak; his throat is lumped up. She can't be dead. What did he do? What did he do wrong? Where did Ryu Kenjishma mess up? Why couldn't he keep her safe? No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. It can't be true. This cannot be the fact of the matter. This is a dream

" No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. " Now he begins to speak it, in a mesmerized chant. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. That is the only thing in his mind. He can't deny it, though he will never acknowledge it. It wasn't that he was incapable of acknowledging her death, it was that he didn't want to acknowledge it. She isn't dead. Calm down. She's not dead. Not dead. Not dead. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

" No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No!!" He slams his fist into the torn down wall, crumpling it. Tears begin to stream down his face. She can't be dead. Abbiah cannot have died here. She couldn't. Just thinking about it made him want to kill himself. He wasn't there for her. He couldn't save her. So what if he got a servant? She's dead. His reason of pushing forward is dead. Ryu learned to not value his life anymore. He no longer feared death, because he had nothing to live for. Abbiah was his lively hood. He couldn't live without her, yet...

"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!Damn it!!!!!!!" Ryu begins to curse himself like a mad man, now already on his knees. It wasn't fatigue, it was just that he had lost the will to stand. Archer became concerned, and revealed himself outside of spirit form. He tried to console his master, but found no point in it. Ryu was sitting there, broken. Who would do this? Why? Why? Why? Why her? Why not him? Why did she have to die? What ryu would pay to see her once more; even if he was caressing her dying body. Anything...

"No, god damn it! No!!" He pounds his hand into the ground, sobbing. A puddle of tears begin to form around his arms, and he couldn't keep himself up for much longer. He dropped to the floor, the tears seeping into his robes. He sat there like a little baby, crying relentlessly. He wouldn't be able to fight back, until...

"Man up, you baby." A cold voice from his servant came calling out to him. Ryu responded with a quiver as his servant took form behind him. In his hands were the two twin swords, and he looked at his master with pity.

"Prove yourself to be a real man, and live on in her sake. If you do not..." He points the tip of Kanshou at Ryu's neck. Ryu gulps, sitting there.

"I will kill you myself, and find one better suited to go through this. War is war. People will die. If you will not accept that fact, you would be better off not going anywhere." Archer's words are cold and to the point. What's... This? Ryu takes hold of his neck, pushing the sword away. Archer gives a surprised scoff, but glares at his master nonetheless.

"You're right, Archer..." He stood up, his arms streaking across his face. His voice was cold and emotionless. Did Archer change something in him? Destruction, and reformation. His body and self was broken down, and reformed. He was anew. Circuits that did not exist actively in Ryu's body were now formed. The clang of a body falling to the floor, followed by the splat of blood. Death. That is his origin. Death is all that he can bring!

Two copies of Vulf appeared in his hands, along with a great gust of wind. Archer staggers back, a satisfied smirk on his face. "That magic..."

"Yes, projection." Ryu replies coldly.

"It's incomplete. It will always be inco-"

"I know that. It's sufficient, and this is all I know how to do."

"Even if that's so, it will only have an ex-"

"Shut up. It will work. It's never failed before. This is the only thing I could get right in this failure life of mine." With that, Archer nodded contently. His master had grasped the point.

"Throw away all regrets. All stops. Don't save anyone. Fight for yourself. Fight for balance. If you do that... Only then will you succeed, master."

"Archer... What's your name?" Ryu asks a question no one else has asked before. Archer shrugged, seeing no need to hold back.

"Emiya Shirou. A worthless fake who clung to foolish ideals all his life. This shell of a man is what the result of pursuing foolish ideals is." Ryu nods, closing his eyes for a split second. When they're opened...

"Right, Emiya Shirou. I am Ryu Kenjishma, fellow failure. Together, we will stamp this grail out of existence; for the balance of the world to be restored." Archer chuckles, still holding a smug grin to himself. "Perhaps..." He begins,

"Perhaps I could teach you a few things. But first, I need rest."

"Right, let me take the frontline combat first, then." Ryu steps forward, tightening the grip on his sword.

Through the dead of night, two figures ran through the dark away from the cursed church that now laid in shambles. As the knight princess in white followed the boy in black, she began to wonder if he was actually running to a specific area, or if he was just getting as far away from the church as possible. Was her master that much of a coward?

Half an hour and four miles later, Adam finally stopped on a street corner under a flickering lamp post. His lungs craved oxygen and he stood still as he tried to slow his breathing. Behind him, Saber hadn't even broken a sweat yet. As she looked at him with a doubtful look though, her expression changed suddenly as the light from the lamp illuminated a small droplet of water as it fell to the cement sidewalk. That wasn't a drop of sweat. It was something else, something that grabbed Saber's attention. There was a long moment where the street corner was silent.

All of it had hit him at once. Before, it had been masked by rage, then by the heat of the battle, but now it all came flooding back. They were all dead. A team of four had entered the cursed church, but only one had come out. Where had they gone wrong? How could they have failed so miserably, and why did the cost have to be so high? These kinds of questions flooded Adam's mind as a single tear dropped from his cheek, making a small plop sound as it landed in a puddle from yesterday's rain. For a moment, Adam watched the ripples from the droplet and the sight was engraved into his mind. A single drop of water that created disturbances around it. The source of the disturbance this time was obvious, Andrew. It was rage that flooded into him as he realized it this time though. It was too calm to be rage. It could almost be called serene.

Standing up tall before turning around, Adam faced the woman behind him. They had not so much as spoken a word to each other yet. "Thanks a lot for your help back there," he said to her, being polite as he felt it was necessary.
"Don't mention it," replied the woman in a business-like voice that was both smooth and gentle, and painfully to the point. "It is the duty of a servant to ensure their master's safety." The knight princess then stopped and looked around briefly. "I believe I have grasped the overall situation we are faced with. What are my orders, Master?"

The woman before spoke in a manner that took Adam completely by surprise. "Well first of all, would you mind not calling me 'Master'," he requested. "My name is Adam. Adam Wallace. May I ask what name I can address you by?"
"In order to not give away my identity during, I would have you refer to me by my class, Saber," replied the girl in the same business-like tone. Her expression became confused though as her master, the boy named Adam, shook his head.
"Names were given to all of us people for a reason," explained Adam. "I could care less if you're a servant with a class. The name that you were given as a person is what matters. May I know your real name?"
Saber was dumbfounded for a long moment. Her master was speaking words that denied that she was a servant, but she was too dumbfounded to get angry about it. "A-Arturia," she said finally.
"Well, Arturia," said Adam "We need a place to come up with a plan. My house isn't too far from here and its boundary field should offer us some protection. Shall we?"

(Longest post ever done on a phone. Damn that was tiring.)

As Stiles left the Church with the majority of the Shadow Army, and Rider following soon after, a smile appeared on Andrew's face. As more Shadow Troops where born Andrew turned to address them " Men go with Saber to take care of the other group.", and they began to pour out into the streets. As they passed the police station, the remaining humans attacked the group with various weapons, guns, clubs knife, and magic from the rare magus. As the attacks struck the Shadow troops they didn't give an inch, and with a single wave from Saber they fell upon the humans. As the last human fell to the ground more of the tainted mud surged forth as the absorption of the City speed up. " It seems Andrew is starting to get a bit more serious." thought Saber as the group neared Adam's home. The first of the Shadow troops slowly made their way to the main gate, and stopped just outside the barrier while the rest formed a formed a circle around the house. After they finished Saber raised his hands upward, and his black Caliburn disappeared in a flash of light only to be replaced with a black claymore studded with red rubies. As he tightly gripped his handle he awaited the response of this other Saber, and her master.
