Things we need to decide upon

Alright, there are a few things we need to decide upon. The two main issues mechanics-wise are:

-- How should experience be charted?
~~ Should we use a money evolution system, or a TCoD-esque system for evolution? If we use a TCoD-esque system, what would count for exp. points?
-- How should Pokemon be priced and such?
~~ Should they be priced based on rarity, battling ability, or should there be a flat rate?

There might be other problems, but these two things are vital. Opinions?

I'm not fond of a money evolution system, except for Pokemon who have such a restrictive movepool that they're nearly impossible to use in battle. I'm assuming that referees get paid for reffing, right? If we use a money evolution system, they'd be able to develop their teams much, much faster than the average ASBer.

I think Pokemon should evolve based on the amount of battles they've been in, instead of the EXP system on TCoD. I find on TCoD, more inexperienced battlers take a lot longer to develop their teams, which kind of gets them stuck at the bottom of the ladder. So, say, an average Pokemon needs to participate in 2 to 4 battles to evolve?

And I think Pokemon should be priced on battling ability. I certainly don't want to see a Pokemon with a movepool as wide as Absol's getting distributed for $10, or something.

I'm fine with both of the above suggestions, though obviously the second means taking the time to go through each submission as it is approved and analyzing how diverse/useful it is. That shouldn't be too daunting a task, however, seeing as it would more or less be one line at a time instead of trying to sift through the entire 493 minus legendaries at once.

Blazhy, you're suggesting that we do a system where you get 1 exp. for appearing in battle and nothing else? I can see why you'd say that; however, it basically makes for even more annoyance. Generally speaking, that means that in order to evolve your Lunbird, you'd need to fight in 3 battles; nobody would be so obsessed with one Pokemon to have them fight three matches in a row.

I beg to differ, actually. Some people in the TCoD ASB have Salamence, and getting a Salamence there requires 9 EXP points - about five battles, assuming you knock out something each battle. Also, all three-stage evolutionary families there require a minimum of 6 EXP to get to the final stage, which is 3 battles, again assuming you knock out something each battle.

TCoD's experience system has its ups and downs, and while I have no problems with mimicking TCoD's system, it does pose a problem to those who're less experienced in battling. In order to make it less tedious, though, we could have, say, Lunbird evolve with two battles instead of three.

But under your system, you'd need to have nine fights to get a Salamence. Get it?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Maybe I wasn't clear enough, but in addition to the 'one EXP per battle', as you put it, I suggested that we lower the amount of EXP a Pokemon needs to evolve. So instead of 9 EXP needed to evolve, Salamence would require around 5 EXP.

I guess we could do so.

Hold a poll?

For all three (four) of us? I'm fine with what Blazhy suggested.

Sounds fine. Now all we have to do is work out non-level up evolutions.

Stone evolution: I'm against just using the stone, as that means you can very well get final-stage Pokemon on your starting team.
