Welcome to the first installment of the Command Post. Each week I'll get everyone up to date on the happenings in Fantasy Sports. Lets get this show on the road. This weeks topic is the Stock Exchange. Here's who's stock is rising and who's falling. Here's the risers. #1. Marion Barber #2. Ronnie Brown #3. Michael Turner #4. Matt Forte #5. Selvin Young The top 5 are all RB's. With the exception of Brown they will all see an increased role from last year when all were backups or in Forte's situation in college. Barber was the Cowboys leading rusher depite being a backup. I expect double digit scores from him. I think Selvin Young could be a great sleeper pick with the release of Travis Henry. Denver RB's always put up solid numbers and I think Young will be no different. The other guys have good upside but some question marks with them. Ronnie Brown was off to a great start possibly poised for a career year but was injured and lost for the season. Miami doesnt have much in the passing game so look for them to turn to Brown again. If he stays healthy he could put up very good numbers. Michael Turner has amazing speed and size. He can change a game. This season is his first as a starter though. He sat behind LT in San Diego. Matt Forte is getting alot of hype with the Bears releasing Cedric Benson. I'll pass on him though. The Bears are horrible and I dont see him hitting 1000 yards. Now here's my top 5 fallers. #1. Willie Parker #2. Greg Jennings #3. Darren McFadden #4. Kyle Boller #5. John Beck There's some talent on this list and just because there on this list doesnt mean they shouldnt be on your team. I would however pay attention to where you draft them. Kyle Boller and John Beck are in the same boat. There two QB's who arent that great and have a solid rookie who will probally be starting before midseason. Joe Flacco and Chad Henne will push Boller and Beck for playing time. The fact that both teams are'nt that good will play into when the QB's are thrown to the fire. Greg Jennings is a guy I actually like. I think he'll be the Packers #1 WR but I gotta see how Aaron Rodgers plays first. Willie Parker's main reason he appears on this list is the injury last season. The Steelers worked him way too hard considering he doesnt have the size to run for 300+ carries a season. Now for the most interesting of the Top 5. Darren McFadden has got talk about putting up numbers like Adrian Peterson had last year. I'll squash that right now. McFadden isnt Peterson. Peterson has a pro bowl offensive line while McFadden has Robert Gallery. Not to mention the Raiders have a first year starter that has no WR's. This means McFadden gets to run against 8 in the box all year. I'd be suprised if he hits 1000 yards. The Raiders backfeild is also a clusterfuck of happiness. Justin Fargas had 1000 yards last season and they also have lamont Jordan and Michael Bush. |
