I hope the blue tort turns out nice!

Does the otter gene skip a generation? If so it could be possible to get one out of his offspring if it happens to be a tort. But the gene could also be diluted more if the offspring is bred to a rabbit with no recessive or dominant gene for otter coloring.

I'd try the agouti colors first then anything else color wise but I always thought you were supposed to breed otters to blacks.

I think your sopose to breed them to chestnuts/opals to get good orange coloring on their pattern. you can also bred them to blacks. if you breed them with chins you can pull silver martins. it kinda depends on what your working twards on what you breed them to. I know for sure it can hide behind agouti, but I THINK thats it. I'll have to look it up or ask. Suzie posted a while back on what were the best color combo's

Chins could be a good match too and breed him to your chestnut when her litter with sarge is done. How did you even get an otter out of flash?

LOL she bred flash to silver martin doe from marilyn kohler (who used to be the COD holder) it was a Litter of 3 she kept them all she had a chin, an Orange and the blue otter.

I did use him with the br chin but she missed :( I need to do some more breeding soon but its sooo hot. the does are all cranky and the bucks get too tired. sarge lives in the house so he should be good to go :)

I did talk to another breeder about the otter gene and just as I assumed. agoui is the only thing that is more dominant then it (meanig agoutis outta otters can throw them even when no bred to an otter. soooo if I did decide to use him with a tort and kept a say a tort outta him. that tort wouldn't throw otters sooo thats good.
