Bean...my baby, my life, my reason for loving fuzzies is dying. I dont know what happened 2 weeks ago he was a healthy happy bunny and now he is 1lb. He is all skin and bones, dull eyes. I ran to Pet Supplies Plus and picked up some NutriCal and gave him some of that. He is drinking and eating toast and oatmeal but refuses to eat pellets. He is not active but is drinking and eating anything BUT hay and pellets. I checked him over, he has a bit of diharreah but that is probably from not eating anything but calf manna and oats. I am still feeding him that because he is dying and needs to eat something. He is not old and I dont think he is even 3 or 4 years. Whats wrong with him? I almost bought some pineapple for wool block but wanted to see if the NutriCal would help. |

I'm not sure what could be wrong. Keep him on lots of oats!! Try and take him to a vet. Try getting a different kind of pellets! Give him anything he will eat. Carrots, pineapple, fresh grass- anything! As much as he wants. Maybe he needs wormed. Just keep him eating and get him to a smalll animal vet! FAST! I'll pray for him! |

Sorry Megan. I don't know what to say. Maybe try a vet. 2 weeks is a long time to be sick. When we have a bunny go off of food, we give it canned plain pumpkin right away. I think it helps if they have wool block. They usually eat it all, and are asking for more the next day. It is good that he is drinking. Do you think you should worm him or would it be too much for his system? Maybe just contact a vet. |

I talked to a vet assistant, but I am not going to take him to a vet though I would love to if I could afford it. He is drinking and eating lots of oats. I will try the canned pumpkin tomorrow even if he doesnt have wool block it could add some fat to him. He even pushed my hand away to get to the toast and oats. He seems better but Bean is such a needy rabbit sometimes. I dont want to start him on lots of treatments all at once so I will give him some ivomec in a few days if the nutrical doesnt help. I checked him over and he has no wounds, pnuemonia, mites, or wormy poo. He just is a finiky eater and it seems to have gotten extremely out of hand to the point of death. He looks stable now but I will go outside at 6am tomorrow morning and give him more oats before I go to school if I am not too sick again. |

I also heard of people giving their rabbit yogurt to help put good bacteria in their stomachs. |

Megan, if he is a finicky eater, get him new rabbit food. I had this happen to buckwheat. When he turned about 4 he just decided that he didn't like his food anymore and he wouldn't eat it. He lost a pound before I figured it out. I get him a different feed then my others. Just some pet food from a pet store and I add show boost to it. He gobbles that up. I'd try switching feeds for him. |

We have other pellets, I will try those but it haves to be ordered specially. He has never had a problem with Purina before. I dont know what it is. Today he is acting a bit more energetic, He licked the pumpkin but didnt eat it so i threw it away and gave him some regular pellets, and calf manna with some nutrical and hay. I hope he improves a bit more, i am still astonished at his weight. I bet he weighs barely 2lbs if that. |

Well, with my rabbit buckwheat, he never had a problem with the pellets ever since he was born. He had always been on pen pals. Then randomly he just decided he wouldn't eat it. There was no reasoning behind it. He just stopped. So don't be afraid to give him new pellets. rabbits aren't that smart. You have to remember that. lol |
