There weren't many times Sachio came to Poinsettia. The people here had their noses too far in the air. Sachio was used to getting looks wherever he went, but in Poinsettia, it was far worse. He didn't fit in with their image of beauty and class. He didn't care. Even if he did care, he didn't have a choice in this visit. Blair was determined to drag him to a new bar called 'The Alibi'. The bar's name was rather odd considering what city it was located in. Even more strange was how nice and elegant the bar was. With a name like the Alibi, one would imagine it would be located in Dandelion. Yet here Sachio was in Poinsettia, staring at a large white building, with a short girl pulling at his arm. The only saving grace of the night would come in the form of his guildmate Alice. She was to meet him at the bar, which meant Sachio had company other than Blair's drunken insanity that was sure to happen. Upon entering the establishment, Sachio frowned. This was a lounge, not a bar. A man was furiously playing piano off to the side of the very large and open floor, while people in seats watched and drank. As soon as Sachio was in view of them, many people froze or scowled. His piercings, tattoos, and eyes were a sight they never wished to see in a place like this. Sachio rolled his eyes and was dragged along by an overexcited Blair. The two of them got a seat at the bar, for if they chose chairs, they would have never been served. This way, the bartender couldn't ignore them. "White Pergrandian!" Blair said to the bartender who obviously heard her, but acted like they didn't. "Rum. Dark rum." Sachio added his order, with a voice that got it across that the bartender better do what he was told. Slowly, the bartender turned towards Blair. He was a rather young man with short brown hair, and wearing a tuxedo vest. He was visibly shaken. "Excuse me...." The man said quietly. "Is she even old enough to drink?" Sachio laughed at the man's question. Blair didn't find it funny. "Of course I am! You think I would walk into a place like this without being able to drink. And sit at the bar no less? Give me my drink before I split you like a melon." The man looked at Sachio, who in return only jerked his head towards his feline partner. "I'd listen to her if I were you." Half the bar was still staring at them. |

Poinsetta had always been such a foreign place to Alice, and it had become even more so after her having spent months in the mud, filth, fire, steel, and smoke of the Boscan front, with its miles of burnt forestry, its crater and corpse-filled mud fields, and its smoldering ruins of villages, cities, and towns. After living, fighting, and killing in those hellscapes for all those months, the city of trees seemed almost impossibly peaceful. That was right...Fiore was the invading party, after all, meaning aside from Kaspar Pass and other border clashes early on in the invasion, Fiore's fields, forests, cities, and people had not been subject to the same devastation as that of her enemy. War bonds, factory jobs, mass conscription, and anti-Boscan 'emergency wartime measures' aside, the people of Fiore lived their lives for the most part just like any other day. Alice truly couldn't get over how strange it was, seeing civilians go about their days like any other. Poinsetta especially - it was as if the country was not at war, as if these people's kin were not killing and dying while they went along with their days. ... The albino blinked, then shook her head free. What was she saying? She couldn't fault these people for living their lives like normal. The war was no fault of theirs, after all. Alice sighed to herself, wondering what had gotten into her since she had returned from the front for a break - once again, at Artorius' behest. She had kept to herself for the entirety of the train ride home, her ragged combat outfit, large weapon, and vacant eyes immediately identifying her as a combatant and thus drawing the eyes of many a curious civilian. There was a good few others like her, also still in their combat gear, several missing an arm, a leg, an eye, or more, cradling their guns close to their chests and making small talk amongst their fellow soldiers. One bright young woman even gave the then-flustered albino a bouquet and a bag of sweets as she exited the train into Poinsetta, thanking for her service in the name of Fiore before hurrying off to provide these same gifts to other veterans. And now, here she was, a day later, dressed in her typical thigh-length white dress shirt and form-fitting black pants, headed to meet a fellow guildmate and dragon slayer at one of the bars in town. ...A bar, huh? Alice had almost forgotten she was now an adult, and could now enter those without Artorius having to cover for her or some such thing. The pale girl looked to her left, her eyes resting on a sign with the letters 'XXX' on it. ...Could go in those too now, couldn't I...buuuuut she'd rather not think about that right now. The rather short albino took a step into the establishment, as if in the back of her head she doubted if she could still go in. She took another deep breath, clearing her throat momentarily before heading in. It was a damn nice place, even if Alice herself didn't care all that much for high-end...really, anything. It was not at all difficult to discern where her guildmate was - he was the one who looked like he came to the planet in a meteor that literally everyone was staring at, seated at the bar next to...some really loud, really short girl. Side chick? Said girl looked a bit too petite for that, but hey, she was at a bar, and hey, the guy wasn't exactly known for having conventional taste in women. Whatever the case, the skinny albino headed up to the bar and quietly seated herself beside her guildmate, hardly making her presence known until she spoke. "S'up, Sachio?" Alice greeted with a half-wave, half-salute before turning to the bartender. "Iceberg Mead, thank you." She then turned back to the pale man as the shorter girl on his other side continued to be...a tad bit loud. "...So who's this one?" The Boscan muttered soft enough for only Sachio to hear, lightly nodding in the black-haired girl's direction. |

"Ma'am, could you please calm down? These people are here to listen to the pianist Bobby Shmurda. He is a well-known musician. Please relax and enjoy his playing." Blair turned to look at the piano player, who was looking towards the bar every now and then, with a look of obvious annoyance. He wasn't the only one who was upset. Blair crossed her arms and waited for her drink to be served. She didn't bother responding to the man. Her body language did indicate that she was at least more chill now. Almost directly after, Alice had arrived at the bar and sat with Sachio and Blair. "Oh hey. Glad you could make it. Dunno if I could make it through the night alone." Sachio laughed to himself as Alice sat down. After hearing the woman's next words, Sachio rolled his eyes in advance, because he knew what was coming. "Alice. Seriously? I can hear you, ya know?" Blair wiggled her cat ears to add emphasis. "It might have been a while, but we are family. I am Blair." The anger switched to sadness during the last part of Blair's words. "You have pet me many times in Ashworth Manor." Sachio looked at Blair like she was crazy. "Blair, that is your cat form. You are not in your cat form right now are you?" Blair didn't even blink. "So? It is still me!" Sachio shook his head and addressed the bartender. "Hurry up with these drinks." "So Alice, how has the war been for you? I see you are rollin' around still strapped up." Sachio looked his guildmate up and down, taking note of her equipment she wore. It wasn't to say Sachio wasn't carrying his own weapons, but just not in such a conspicuous manner. "Personally, it is has been odd for me. I find myself back at home not long after missions start. I suppose I am not so good at helping this country out." He took a drink of his rum as Alice spoke about her experiences. Part of him felt bad he wasn't with his guild, fighting against Bosco and risking his life. The other part of him was glad he wasn't, solely for the 'not risking your life' part. Dying for this country just wasn't something he was prepared to do. He still had work to do for his own agendas. His family was still alive, and that was something he still intended to change. Eventually. As the two dragons talked, Blair downed her drink hastily. "Another." Blair said to the bartender, who sighed to himself. He was in the middle of speaking to other patrons when Blair interrupted. Without even turning his head away from his guildmate, Sachio raised his hand to the bartender, signaling his own refill. He hadn't even finished his first, but he knew damn well he was going to want another anyway. |

The crimson-eyed girl blinked. That was Blair? Come to think of it, Alice did recall meeting Blair once before, back when she first joined the guild. Jeez, that seemed like way more than a year or two ago. She didn't know why she hadn't even considered the idea of it being a guild member - after all, she was no stranger to humans turning into animals, and vice versa. "Oh, uh...sorry, Blair. I guess my brain still hasn't gotten used to life back here just yet. My head's still all over the place." The pale girl responded, feeling more than a bit guilty at having forgotten about the catwoman. At least they'd get to catch up...though, what did Blair really do other than hang out at the guild hall? Alas. Small talk was what she came here for, and talk she would. "Heh, this is nothing." Alice replied with a chuckle in response to the man's 'strapped up' comment. Truthfully, she thought this was standard fare - civilian clothes and a dagger. Maybe her perception was just skewed after all that fighting. "The war's my life at this point, honestly. Artorius says it's unhealthy. I'm inclined to believe him." The short female sighed, taking a small sip of mead. "But I don't think you should feel bad for not being the same. You've got things to do, y'know." There was a pause, and another sip of her drink. "Plus, you're there when it counts. You were at Reinhardt, weren't you?" Alice inquired, leaning back a bit in her seat. While Sachio and Blair appeared to be downing their drinks eagerly - particularly the latter, to a concerning degree - the younger female was particularly mindful with her sips. Alice wasn't about to get too drunk around these two, even if they were her guildmates - from what she knew, every time they had done this together, they ended up in bed with one another - and the albino was not looking for that kind of bar crawl. |

"Yea...I was there." Sachio said, taking a large sip of his rum, as he remembered the events at Castle Reinhardt. He hadn't been entirely useful, but he witnessed the large statues and what came out of them. He had watched Artorius unleash incredible power. Sachio really was not a big fan of the war overall. "Didn't do much, but I was there. Not much use for my skills on an open battlefield. At least not yet. Can't sneak up and assassinate someone who is staring me down, and has fifty dudes behind 'em." Sachio laughed at himself. He was great in one on one fights, and from stealth, but a battlefield is just no place for an assassin. He figured that was mostly why he didn't enjoy being a part of it all. Another part was that he just didn't enjoy fighting a fight that meant nothing to him. Once a cynic, always a cynic. Blair was on her third drink, while Sachio had just finally finished his first. He knew what was going to happen soon. Time passed until they had been there an hour. Blair was smashed. Sachio wasn't drunk, but was buzzed enough to move on from this place. Plus, the bartender and the other patrons had begun to get angry enough to threaten to call the knights. Sachio's response to them was enough to put them back in their place. "Go ahead. Call the knights. They won't be able to bring you back to life." Sachio placed his money on the bar counter, paying for all three of their drinks. "Left you a tip." Sachio said with a sinister smile. He had indeed left the man a considerable tip, but on the money, he had left a contact poison. "T-t-thank you." Sachio exited the bar with his guildmates, smiling as the patron's eyes all stared angrily. Their fancy night had been ruined by their presence. Sachio was glad he could do that for them. With the sound of vomiting in the background, as the man began to suffer from Sachio's poison, Sachio looked around for their next destination. Food was needed, and quickly. Blair was already pulling on his arm, which meant she quite drunk. "Let's go grab some food. This cat needs to get something her before we have a bigger problem on our hands." Blair might have been drunk, but she wasn't too drunk to realize what Sachio had done. She glared at him the best she could. Her drunkenness was apparent in her eyes. "I didn't kill him, Blair. He will be fine." He looked to Alice before speaking again. "What kind of food are you in the mood for?" |
