Livinia nodded as Caelie made her request, and as the group began entering the portal one by one, with Uther carrying Nadine's body, the purple-haired woman began intimating the Nine Lives Wind mage on everything she could remember about Avaggdu's master. "From old texts purportedly written by the Guardians, most of them incomplete, a long time ago, the most likely date being just after the Age of the Reign of Dragons, a host of meteorites fell from the sky. These meteorites were all made of some strange, unearthly black stone, and stranger eldritch abominations seemed to inhabit these stones. Do you know about the two schools of thought regarding Earthland's spatial position in existence? Some people believe that Earthland is a floating mass in the middle of nothing, travelling round the sun, our Earth Star. Others feel Earthland is flat and fixed, with celestial bodies in the sky above it, and--" Balthazar grunted, causing Livinia to redden slightly and smile sheepishly. "Sorry, I'll just get to the important parts," she said. "Assuming Earthland is a floating body travelling round our sun, which I think it to be, the strange meteorites may be the remains of a similar body, destroyed for some unknown reason. Its pieces must have traveled through empty space and reached Earthland, where they appeared to fall from the sky. They sought to enslave humanity, but the Guardians were created to fight against them, and met with great successes initially, after many sacrifices. Many of the invaders, like Avaggdu, vanished, others, like Gruuthug, its master, were imprisoned. We believe Gruuthug is currently in Tiandore, in a great black rock. Within the rock is a temple, and within that temple is a well, wherein Gruuthug is trapped." Balthazar waved his staff, and the exit to the portal appeared some steps away. "We believe Gruuthug seeks a body to inhabit, which its slaves, human slaves, are chiseling for it out of the black rock. When it is completed, its essence will be transferred into this golem, and it will walk the earth again. With the Sigil of Dreams, we can draw Gruuthug out of the Well, seal it in the rock in which it came to Earthland, and break the rock. This will banish Gruuthug's soul to the emptiness outside our plane of existence, and the monster will be unable to return," he concluded, with Livinia nodded her consent to the veracity of his information. Beryl stepped out of the portal, back into the familiar atmosphere of Dandelion, wincing as her wound suddenly hurt sharply. "That being the case, we have our work cut out for us. While I may sound cruel, I do hope you fellows don't have long mourning rituals for the dead." Uther shook his head. "No. All we shall do is commit her body to the earth in the swamp beyond your city. We will be back by evening." "Rest well, and pack what you can tonight, then," the Seveni said quietly but resolutely. "We leave for Tiandore tomorrow." Thread Concluded. |
