"We're making memories I'll soon forget." [tabs] [tab=Info]
| Character Name: | "Marianne" | Height: | 5'7" | | Nickname: | Marianne | Weight: | 121 lbs. | | Gender: | Female (Heterosexual) | Guild: | xxx | | Birthdate: | unknown/none | Class: | D | | Age: | purportedly 19 y/o | Affiliation: | Neutral (Neutral Good) | | | OOC: | Mariko | [/tab] [tab=Appearance] "It must be a mistake to name a gorgeous young lady 'bitter grace'."
This might come to mind of every single being who would meet Marianne and then realize what the meaning of her name means. Who would not if the woman gracing your visuals is a smooth, flawless, fair-skinned maiden with long (chocolate) brown hair of natural loose mermaid curls softly cascade down her shoulders, and when she moves, gently dances with the wind as she make her way through the crowd with elegant strides could definitely turn heads? And, in her every movement, it isn't impossible that one would not gaze and wonder what is under the layers of fabric --- no matter how much she covers up, her allure still overflows; the almost-perfect hourglass figure is still noticeable.
Who will actually not consider to give her a new name when you get mesmerized by her sweet gestures which are matched either by the sincerity and honesty exuded by her grayish-brown eyes, framed and ornated by long and curled lashes, or by the short yet pleasant coos from her luscious, pillowy, cherry lips? Ah, what a good fortune the man who could taste those lips have!
It must also be a regret of those who gave Marianne such a bitter name when they saw her smile for the first time --- warm, sweet as honey, and, magical, as if it is a medium of chronoprohiberis or temporal freeze which could make time --- and the whole world ---- stop. How could they resist doing so? Perhaps they liked to suffer that much; perhaps they craved to have a feel of her slender candle-shaped fingers around their necks, or her well-toned legs against their guts, and to fall to an eternal slumber with her arms around their bodies as if in an endearing embrace? Maybe to receive pain from a goddess on earth brings them bliss... maybe they are that twisted.
Yes... it must be a mistake to name a gorgeous young lady 'bitter grace', and they are insane to name he---- zzzzz...
Clothing and Accessories Marianne prefers to wear her long hair either in a braid, no matter how tedious it is to perfect it because of how wavy her hair is, or pulled back and placed in a bun secured by hair sticks or hair pins. As to clothing, she dislikes wearing pants and plain shirts, as she is fond of skirts, blouses, flowy dresses and alike. She could often be seen wearing something with flowers --- may it be accessories or tiny prints on her clothes, though the latter is rare since she is fond of 'color blocking' her attire.
[/tab] [tab=Personality] At the first glance, this stunner can be thought of as a snob since she does not seem to mingle well with people and most of the time can be seen quietly doing her own thing at a corner. But, one must understand that the reason why she is quiet is because she is mute. While she can make short, sharp, monosyllabic sounds, no real words can be heard from Marianne. Thus, when in need to communicate with people, she uses sign language or puts her thoughts into writing --- the latter is an option provided she is not feeling lazy or it isn't a bother or getting impatient to explain things. Otherwise, she would just nod her head lazily, agree on anything without pondering on it, and pretend to have understood what is said until come such a time she will be surprised to be in a situation she never really intended or wanted.
Marianne is highly concerned of her looks. She knows she is pretty, and wants to keep it that way. She does a long beauty ritual every night, aside from hours spent every morning on prepping up. This is not mainly because she is purely narcissistic, but because she thinks it is all she has, being born without a true family, without a surname, without a voice, and then later on, without memories.
Her nitpicky attitude towards her physical looks extends to other people and her surroundings. She gets bothered, if not irked, by seeing even the tiniest stains or holes, or even a slight misalignment on a row of items, or a stray hue in a series of blocks of colors.
Nonetheless, Marianne is still a good person, and keeps on trying to be one. She understood that she has no material possessions, redeeming characteristics to brag (other than her looks, of course), and that oftentimes she has no recollection of the people around her thus she has to be, at least, civil with everyone.
Apart from these, what makes Marianne stand out is that despite the incomparable beauty, she falls asleep at any time everywhere as she is suffering from a serious case of narcolepsy. This is also coupled with cataplexy. It is not only during her sleep. Emotions like laughter, surprise or annoyance in an extreme level may cause temporary muscle paralysis. Moreover, she also suffers from a "recurring" amnesia. While she remembers what she can do, or so what people call "procedural memory", she could not remember events, experiences, or who a certain person is. Not only that she could not recall what was happened in the past, but whatever happened presently, or whatever she might have remembered in case such happens, would be erased in her memory once she falls asleep or takes a nap, no matter how short it is, and may it be accidental or not. [/tab] [tab=History]Prologue - Divested Prologue: Divested The Kushinada clan, known because of their financial capacity and businesses, was led by a domineering matriarch who practiced two important rules that had been passed throughout generations: first, women-born, being rare in the family and carrier of children, were of utmost importance in the clan, and second, all members should engage in business and should never depart from it to make sure that all their businesses were amply supervised and would thrive for years.
The matriarch had five children and only one of them was a female, Narumi. She had given her everything and only the best as she was expecting her to assume her position someday. Thus, when she learned that Narumi was a mage, joined a guild and was ready to turn her back on the family businesses and the position in the clan, the matriarch was more than upset and furious. Out of her fury, she banished her only female child and severed ties with her. It was painful for Narumi since she loved her mother so much, but there was nothing she could do...
Since that time not a female-born was given to the Kushinadas, much to the worry of the matriarch.
Narumi led her life as a mage, but occasionally secretly checking on her family from afar despite being ex-communicated, wishing that one day she would be back in their arms and be with her mother. Her love overflowed despite everything that had happened.
As she checked on them from time to time, she knew that not a female child was born out of the family. Knowing its importance to them, it broke her heart and could only wish that some day she could give them one.
Soon she married another mage from the guild she was in. The union brought a male first born, Daiki. For some time it caused sadness, but later on accepted that he was still from her and gave him the love he deserved from a mother. In the same time, she inculcated in his mind the importance of a woman in the family.
Because of having a son and the increasing tasks that needed to be done both in her family and in the guild, Narumi failed to keep track of the situation of the Kushinadas.
Five years later, another child was born, a female, which brought delight to Narumi and her husband.
"Let us name her Tsuna."
Bond. This was what she expected Tsuna's birth could fix. But, to be able to do so, and for the sake of Narumi's happiness, certain drastic measures were needed to be done.
Two weeks before the planned return to the Kushinada mansion in Crocus, Narumi's husband left to do a 'mission'. He left out details, which was alright for Narumi since she was aware sometimes there were really highly-confidential matters at work that even spouses could not confide to each other. Didn't she know that he knew something he kept a secret for a while --- one of Narumi's sisters-in-law, who was living in Shirotsume Town, earlier gave birth to a girl. Before this child would be able to reach Crocus, he needed to dispose of her. Tsuna's father took the child, and brought her to Hargeon in an attempt to just let the waves take her since he did not have the heart to have his hand drenched in blood. However, when he was about to do so, he noticed that the child was already cold and stiff...
Ch 01 - Sleeping Beauty Ch. 01: Sleeping Beauty One cold morning, men and women gathered around a small peculiar boat no one had seen before in the small fishing town of Hargeon. There were mix expressions of shock, pity and anger as they saw its lone passenger: a bare baby girl who appeared to be only around 20-25 days old lying motionless on the old planks of wood which made up the flooring of the said boat. None has seen the child in that town before, and no one claimed to be the biological parents of the said child.
As the child was motionless and despite the clamor from the townsfolk she was not bothered or stirred, they all assumed that the child was dead. It was only when someone picked up the child and walked further away from the boat to take her to the nearest clinic or morgue did the she jerk her limbs, a sign of life. "Well, she's a heavy sleeper!" the elders exclaimed with amusement.
As none could be bothered to travel to a major city to have the child be placed in the custody of the government, nor anyone could be bothered to call a private agency specializing in taking care of the abandoned and foundlings, as they were not sure if such existed in nearby towns, the child was reluctantly taken into custody by one of the well-off families of the town and called her Marianne, which meant "bitter grace".
Marianne grew up to be a beautiful young girl. She was amply supplied with material needs. Perhaps one could think that she was treated like the family's own child, or fondness because of her incomparable charm, but the truth was they did so because Marianne could not be fend off by herself due to a condition they have discovered: the young Aphrodite has a serious case of narcolepsy. As if that was not yet the worst, Marianne was also born mute. It was also because of her uncontrollable sleep-wake cycles and her inability to speak that Marianne missed most of the occasions, discussions, and family happenings, making her feel isolated, if not outcasted whenever she was awake. She was also not bestowed of a surname which served as a "demarcation line" between her and the legitimate members of the family, a reminder of where she came from. Thus, she was never truly close with her foster family, except for her "younger sister" Ramla.
Marianne treated Ramla like she was her true younger sister, that is whenever she was awake. She only had memories of Ramla showering her not only with kindness but love and understanding, or so what Marianne thought. Due to this, she took it upon herself to be always there for her, give her what she needed and wanted to the point that she almost spoiled her, that is whenever she was awake.
Ch 02 - Terrified Ch. 02: Terrified A few days before her birthday, Ramla wished for Marianne to attend and celebrate her birthday with her, fourteen (14) being the age of emancipation. By taking various potions, regardless whether they were all consumed beyond the recommended dosage, and a desire to fulfill her sister's wish, Marianne was able to attend and celebrate Ramla's 14th birthday. It was fun. For the first time, Marianne was able to totally bond with the people in her family, especially her dear sister. As if the house party was not enough, the two along with Ramla's friends went out to spend for some after-party fun.
It was expected that upon returning home and then the next day Marianne would be asleep for the a long period, which indeed happened. What they did not expect was what happened when she woke up. Marianne was seen running around the mansion terrified and with a desire to escape. She was even throwing any item within her reach at anyone, including Ramla. It took a while before they were able to decipher why she was acting in such an odd way --- when she was calmed down and able to gesture her thoughts through movements, and later on through writing, it seemed that she had forgotten everything and everyone but her first name.
They tried to remind her of things. They asked help from professionals, even to the point that magic was attempted to be cast upon her. Still, the amnesia persisted --- and it was in a loop. Every waking day, Marianne forgets everything.
Ch 03 - Beyond the Boundary Because of her uniqueness, the head of the family decided to deprive Marianne of the privilege to leave the house. Everyone was ordered to look after her, no matter how bothersome it already was. It lasted for four years.
On the fourth year of this suffering, a tragedy struck the lives of those who lived in the manor. Marianne's foster parents were killed in a tragic incident while doing business in Trillium. While she could not remember who they were, Marianne could also not understand why hearing the news left a heavy and painful sensation on her chest. It aggravated upon seeing that Ramla was also affected by this depsite not remembering who she was or what were their relationship. It made her suffer from sudden and temporary head dropping, slackening of jaws, and collapsing stiff and motionless on the ground whilst conscious. She heard Ramla burst out something in the fit of being overwhelmed, in bereavement, anger and annoyance --- "why can't she be gone? She's just being a burden?!"
Once her muscle paralysis subsided, and on the same day, believing that Ramla would be better off without her and to fulfill her sister's wish, Marianne escaped and left the manor.
And yes, you know what happened next. [/tab][tab=Miscellaneous]

[tabs][tab=Item List][/tab][tab=D-Rank]Name: Board and Pen Class: D Description: A portable whiteboard and pen combo which Marianne uses to communicate with people whenever she is not feeling lazy. The whiteboard measures around 9 x 13 inches and weighs around 1.5 pounds. Its frame is made of black-colored lightweight metal while the very face is of smooth porcelain carefully attached to piece of lightweight wood. The pen, on the other hand, is an erasable marker of black ink. It has a felt tip, while its other end has a protrusion for its eraser made up of sponge. Effect: Acts as D-Class whiteboard and pen/marker. [/tab][tab=C-Rank]xxx[/tab][tab=B-Rank]xxx[/tab][tab=A-Rank]Estranged Spouse Name: Estranged Spouse Class: A Description: It is believed that rings are more than just fashion statements. Depending on the kind of ring and on which hand or finger it is worn, one can identify another's character, orientation, mood or one's state of mind through this item. Wearing rings in the fourth (ring) finger means or symbolizes beauty, creativity and romantic connections. Those worn in the middle finger symbolizes balance and responsibility, the said finger, based on palmistry, being associated with the planet Saturn. Wearing a ring on the index finger symbolizes power, leadership and authority, as the same is associated with Jupiter. What is the relevance of all of these explanations to this item? Nothing. Really. The three-ring set is worn on the index, middle and ring fingers, no matter what the meaning of all of those are. Each ring is made of tough steel coated with non-conductor material. All three are with solid, amber-colored gems of different cuts: the largest being on the middle finger which is around 2.5x1 inch (l x w), second one is a square-shaped of around 1.5 x 1.5 inches, and the third one is cut in a circular one of around 1.75 inches in diameter. All of them have floral designs. Do these looked like mere three oversized rings to you? Yes, they are, obviously, but no, they are really knuckle dusters. And yes, the floral designs make them less lethal than they really are. Happy Wife Happy Life So you know what happens when you give your spouse a large-gemmed ring and then she catches you cheating while wearing it? Yup, "hell hath no fury for a woman scorned", hence there would not be a doubt that that ring would cause you a bruise. That effect times three, and someone will either be sleeping on the sidewalk or some cuts on his face needs to be stitched. That is the reason why this three-piece item is named "Estranged Spouse" Effect/Function: Gives its user a +25 in PWR for 4 posts. Cooldown is 3 posts. After cooldown, the buff in PWR restarts / re-applies automatically. Serves as A-Class fashionable knuckle dusters. Bride of Janus' Hair Pin Name: Bride of Janus' Hairpin Class: A Description: At first glance, one will think that this pair of nine-inch long hair sticks are usual hair accessories used to either secure its user's locks or a fashion statement. Well, that is partly true, they just missed out on one thing: this pair is also a knife. As Dangerously Beautiful as its Deceitful Bride Six and a half inches of its whole length is steel, forged to make it capable of cutting and stabbing objects (and flesh) with ease, the latter being more of its specialty than the former, but also enchanted so as to not harm its owner. The remaining part is of non-conductor gems. Each were crafted to appear like flowers and leaves, which not only serve as part of the handle but also to have the whole thing appear "harmless" when worn. Effect/Function: On Marianne's will, either or both of the sticks increase in size to become full-fledged rapiers. The rapier is around 35 inches without the handguard, 41 inches from tip to edge of handguard. It weighs around 1.87 lbs. and has a blade width of around 2.5 cm to sharp point. If only one of the two hair pins was turned into rapier, it can remain in the said form for 5 posts, with a cooldown of 3 posts. If this is done and the user opts to use the second stick in rapier mode, the user may do so after at least one-post interval; though the second stick's rapier form will only last for 3 posts. However, if the user opts to use both hair pins so as to use it as a dual-wield / two-hand weapon, they stay in the said form for 4 posts and with a cooldown of 3 posts. Acts as an A-class weapon. [/tab][tab=Skills]- Lovely Scribe: Due to years of not being able to speak, Marianne has fully developed her penmanship to the point that she can write everything she wants to say in a short amount of time while making sure it is as pretty as her visage, may the writing be in block letters / in print, cursive, all caps or whatever.
- Enhanced Hearing or Just a Gossipmonger?: Her inability to speak is reciprocated by her hearing. She was able to train herself into hearing the subtlest of sounds and at the farthest distance one could hear, while pinpointing which sound is which. She also learned how to cut out all other noises and concentrate on one particular sound, or hear nothing at all (the last one she usually uses whenever she feels lazy to act on things and pretends to be deaf.)
- Jacqueline of All Trades, Mistress of None: Despite not remembering events, Marianne was able to retain in her memory skills and actions. She has an uncanny ability of doing or using almost anything and everything, may it be boxing, firing a gun, baking, playing an instrument, dissecting a creature, etc.. She could not explain how she learned it, or how she knew of doing one thing, as she was just acting through her subconscious. The only drawback here is that she is a master of none.
