"Ca-Caw-Caw-Ca-Caaw..." //Watch yourself blondie...// Persies only seemed to glare at Leonidas as they looked to them with a smile, thinking of them as untrustworthy, and encouraging Jaxus irresponsible behavior. It was in her nature, knowing of Jaxus trusting and reckless nature, and due to their sibling like nature, she was very protective of him. Yet and still, while they were partners, Jaxus was more experienced than her, and more or less, the "captain" whenever she and him traveled together. So, like always, she would reluctantly be tagging along, just to ensure Jaxus didn't do something stupid and die.

As Leonidas caught up with the duo, followed by commenting on the amount of sugar, Jaxus looked back to them with a slight, brief chuckle. "Gotta' agree there, ain't ta' much of a fan of sweets myself.~" All the while, Persies found her attention more and more drawn to the place the longer she stared at it. It wasn't often Jaxus bought sweets, nor had she had many in her short life. Despite scolding Jaxus for lacking focus, the more she looked at the house, the more she wanted to try to take a bite out of it.

"Well, I mean, kinda' lookin' at the pathway and fountains..." Jaxus prepared a rebuttal about the house being abandoned, regarding how clean the pathways, house, and chocolate fountains lacked debris or filth, which would normally be expected in the middle of the forest, but Leonidas had taken the initiative it seemed, walking forward without waiting for a reply. Taking a brief sigh, Jaxus stepped forward cautiously with Leonidas, looking to the gingerbread path with every step, eyes squinting as the path held firm. Raising his leg, Jaxus brought it down afew times with a light slam, making zero marks or cracks. "Hm..." As Leonidas approached the door and knocked, Jaxus casually strolled upwards, both hands tucked into his pockets, looking upwards to the seemingly three story tall construct of sugary delights. Yet, no reply occurred from the occupants, or so it seemed...

-Somewhere at the top of the mansion-

A haggard, old witch, short in stature, with a largely prominent nose stirred a boiling pot of greenish liquid, humming a tune to themselves, pleasantly unaware of the intruders. At least, until a certain, resonating hum began to echo through the room, ringing with a harmonious sequence. "Huuh? Visitors, at this time...?" Leaving the long stick she used to stir the "broth," the witch slowly walked over to the source of the humming, her "magic candy ball," a large jawbreaker that sat upon a small table, radiating different colors of light.

Staring intently into it and grasping it on both sides, an image slowly revealed itself, first in a wavy, vague image, slowly becoming refined and more detailed to show two intruders, a charcoal hair teenaged, and a blonde haired tween? Looking back to the four children in the corner of the room, mindlessly feeding on an abundance of cakes, pies, chocolates, tarts, ice cream, and other deserts at a table, the witch quickly started shaking her head in defiance. "No, no, no, this will never do! It's almost time for stew!" Looking intently with a further focus upon her magic jawbreaker, the witch slowly began to weave her hands around and over the magical orb.

-Back at the door step-

"Welp, we tried diplomacy, my turn now.~" Hands still tucked into his pockets, Jaxus walked closer to Leo's side, before casually raising his right arm and grasping his boomarang from his belt. "Miiight wanna' stand back.~" Taking a deep breath and raising his boomarang, the weapon suddenly "exploded" in side, turning nearly as tall as Jaxus, it's width growing with it in scale. Taking the large club in both hands, Jaxus took a heavy swing towards the door, cracking the gingerbread barrier despite it's enhanced nature with ease. Taking another swing, then yet another, the cracks grew deeper and wider as Jaxus swung with all his might, shifting his body weight and posture in time with the swings to pack as much as his body weight as possible behind his strikes.

CRACK!

As the fourth strike came down, the door violently collapsed, sending gingerbread dust and debris in all directions! "Ack!" "Ca-Caaw!" Falling into a sputter of a coughing fit, Jaxus shook his head, waving away the dust while Persies flapped her wings wildly, shaking her head in unison with discomfort. "And that's how ya' knock.~" "Ca-Caaw-Caaw..." //Jaxus, seriously...// Persies only let out what could be deciphered as a sigh. Babysitting Jaxus was such a hard job for her sometimes. As the dust cleared, what was revealed was an elegant opening parlor, marble chocolate floors, elegantly sculpted pillars of white chocolate so pure, it looked as it it was marble, a taffy, gummy red carpet leading to a grand staircase, and even six statues of solid chocolate suits of armor, weapons and all!

Yet, this sight was short lived to be enjoyed, or despised, as two of the chocolate suits of armor, helmet and all suddenly rose to life, raising their swords with previously lay pointed towards the ground! "Uh-huuuh..." "Ca-Caaw-Caaw?!" //Chocolate soldiers?!// Hefting his boomarang up and laying the curve of it casually on his right shoulder, Persies on his left, Jaxus looked to Leonidas with minor chuckle. "Abandoned, ey?~" Looking back to the living suits of chocolate armor, Jaxus only cracked a small smile. "We got yer' back Leo.~ Hope ya' got ours as well.~" As the chocolate soldiers suddenly charged the pair, the two suits of armor behind them with chocolate battleaxes began to stir, along with the two behind them wielding spears, slowly but surely also gaining sentience. And from the looks of it, this was only an appetizer of what was to come.

Verba volant, scripta manent.

The blonde-haired man was all too keen of Persies' distrust of him. He was a far cry from understanding bird speech, but distaste wasn't always just evident in words alone. The falcon was right to be wary, for even though Leonidas disliked admitting it, he couldn't trust even himself. Others had no obligation to do so. In most cases, he preferred it that way. If one had no expectations, it was impossible for him to break them.

Two brief raps on the ginger door was all it took for Leonidas to conclude that whomever had built the atrocious candy house had not been expecting visitors. The motion did not resonate with the frame of the building at all, leaving only a few crumbs on his bleeding hand and not the sound desired. More than likely there were cameras of some sort, or whatever the magical equivalent of that might be, located around the mansion's premise for identification and security purposes. The blonde suspected that gingerbread was not the best material to make a barrier out of, even considering other sugar overloaded products. His query was proven true as Jaxus rained devastation on the door with what appeared to be an oversized boomerang. Of course, being logical, Leonidas had indeed taken heed to the light mage’s advice and had backtracked about a meter before he struck the obstacle down. He didn’t however, shield his body as the door collapsed, sending a billow of various refined particles in his direction.

”Very nice,” he replied as the brown dust settled, much of it on his face and in his hair despite his distance to the crimson-eyed man’s annoyance. Half-heartedly he wiped his face with his left palm, clapping a few times afterwards to get the mess off of his hands. At the moment Leonidas’s mop of hair looked more brown than anything, but anything short of a shower wouldn’t get that clean, so he left it. Aside, looking into the gaping hole Jaxus created, it was evident that there were more pressing matters than his appearance at the moment. His disdain was still present as he caught sight of the interior, but what caught his eye, even before they animated, were the chocolate-formed knights that lined the room. He wondered for a brief moment how sturdy the swords the front two guards carried, and if they were actually capable of cutting things. More than likely, that answer was yes.

Leonidas would have time to test his hypothesis, it seemed, as for not soon after did the suits of armor start to move, and charge they did after Jaxus delivered a final piece of rhetoric. ”Yes, let’s hope for that,” he muttered under his breath in reply, already grasping the hilt of Calamitas, yet not drawing. A subconscious count began in his head, in rhythm with the knight closing in on him. One, the enemy’s blade in position, tip pointed downward at the blonde’s left shoulder. Two, a final step from the loud, resounding armor. Three, a lunge, a right bound dodge, and the drawing of a blade. Four, connection, a slide, a turn, and a wrenching twist, slicing the armor’s right arm in two. Leonidas left no room for mercy though, as another step backwards wrought the destruction of another limb, one so carelessly shoved in his way by means of a slow slap. Whomever had shaped the constructs, as he could sense they were not truly alive, was careless enough to have only reinforced their weapons. It was a shame, for not only that but the knight's creator had not bestowed upon them even a hint of the knowledge required to come close to mastering the weapon they yielded so generously.

Yes, this was even further proven by the fact that the candied disgrace thought it a good idea to charge headfirst at him next. Perhaps it would have been a viable tactic, giving that the suit had real armor and wasn’t so ridiculously cumbersome and slow. With those things added into the equation, a two handed downstroke was all that was needed to decapitate the pathetic being. For an added effect, and because he was thoroughly disgusted, Leonidas ran his blade through where it’s heart would have theoretically been. Of course, there was no splattering of blood from any of the actions he performed, unlike what he was used to, but as he extracted Calamitas and the ‘dead’ armor keeled over, he noticed there was a substantial amount of chocolate bits and pieces on the blade. ”Well, you always liked sweets more than I did,” he remarked, a gentle smile inhabiting his face for a brief moment despite the overwhelming grief that came only a moment later. There was no response.

The other sword bearer had bore down on Jaxus and Persies, but based on the light mage’s previous performance alone he did not attempt to offer them assistance. Instead, bastard sword still held with both hands in a low position slightly behind him, Leonidas slowly approached the axe-wielding pair of opponents, waiting for them to awaken before attempting to strike. He was the hunter, and they were the unworthy prey.

I don't even know.
As one of the sword wielding suits of chocolate armor charged upon Jaxus, he took his signature martial fighting pose, shifting himself lower to the ground by extending his left leg straight, his right, rear leg pointed at an angle, both knees slightly bent. Raising his left arm forward with an open palm, Jaxus torques his body clockwise, raising his oversized bludgeon high with a small, yet smug smile. As the first swing came down, Jaxus merely backstepped and reversed his left positioning, slapping away the chocolate soldier's arm with an open palm strike. As it made a follow up low ground sweep, Jaxus quickly popped off into the air with a jump, allowing the blade too glide under him, tightening his grip on the boomarang.

CRRAAACK!

With a sound snap resonating through the air, the thirty five pound boomarang, propelled by Jaxus' own body weight and mid air momentum came crashing down into the helmet of the chocolate knights helmet, shattering it like glass and sending out a cloud of chocolate debris and dust, the armor falling over limply mid swing, dead, or at least as dead as animated chocolate could get anyway.

"Too slow..." Letting out a small cough and shaking his head from the chocolate dust that invaded his nasals, Persies doing the same, Jaxus flicked his boomarang, shrinking it back down to it's original size, taking a brief glance around the room. Noting that first, Leonidas had dealt with his own target quite effectively, noting it's lack of both arm, head, and the deep thrusting wound through the chest. Impressive, but would have been quite gruesome had the soldier not been made of chocolate. What caught Jaxus attention more now, was that the remaining four soldiers rising, Leonidas approaching the two axe wielding soldiers single handedly. In response, the two chocolate knights rushed Leonidas in unison, one slashing downwards towards their left, the other, slashing downwards towards their right side, hoping to limit his chances of avoiding the strike. Yet and still, as Leonidas observed, these constructs lacked form, and combat experience. If this first attempt failed, the two would continue to swing relentlessly in coordination with each other, alternating their swings in sync with each
other to attempt and keep Leonidas on the defensive.

Before Jaxus could respond or assist, he quickly observed the spear wielding knights had risen up fully, already beginning to move towards Leonidas to support the axe wielders. "Nope.~" With a quick break, sunshine colored jets of light ignited around Jaxus' arms and legs, quickly propelling him into the air as he flew over the axe wielders and Leonidas entirely in an attempt to intercept the spear users. "Now Persies!" "Ca-Caaw!" //Aye Sir!// As Jaxus darted towards the left spearman, Persies kicked off his shoulder, flying to the one on the right. As one of the chocolate soldiers attempted to spear Persies in a frantic manner, her small size made it relatively easy to dodge such attacks, fluttering around the clumsy thrusts with ease.

Jaxus on the other hand, was doing more or less the same thing, his speed and reflexes far outclassing such a half thrown together creation of magic. Bobbing, weaving, twisting, and occasionally deflecting a thrust or two, Jaxus circled around the knight looking for a weakness, the perfect moment to strike. //There!// Noticing the chocolate knight overstep in a thrust, bending their knee so that it was farther out than their toes, Jaxus didn't waste a second, grasping their spear with his left hand and tucking it under his arm, quickly pulling himself closer to them mid flight, swinging his right foot outwards, burning with shining golden light!

CRACK!

Another snap echoed through the halls as Jaxus shattered the soldiers knee, sending them leaning forward from Jaxus pulling motion on the spear. //Not done yet!// Fist already cocked back, fingers tensed, orbs of light generating at his fist rapidly flowing upwards like a stream, Jaxus put his spine, torso, and waist into a heavy, aerial uppercut. With another resonating crack and a flash of light, a heated explosion erupted from Jaxus fist, leaving a headless, chocolate soldier, steam coming from the melted chocolate dripping down it's body. In a split moment after, a brief rain of chocolate fell upon the area around Jaxus, coating him from head to trench coat in melted chocolate, to which Jaxus merely looked upwards, then shrugged casually. Blowing on his fist in a casual motion, Jaxus threw the spear in his left hand to the side, allowing the spear using soldier to fall with a thud.

As the two axe-wielding knights stepped forward, Leonidas did the same, utilizing his greater speed and smaller stature to duck under the incoming blades, taking advantage of the gap between the two soldiers that had formed as a byproduct of the fact that the two had charged in unison from different directions. Gaps in a line always made for a horrid defense plan, especially when the apparent strength was applied more in numbers instead of skill sets. The blonde's sword moved with him as he evaded, subsequently hitting, and slicing straight through like a butter knife, the right knight's right leg at the knee.

Although axes were powerful, they were practically impossible to use in the case of a lack of balance, not to mention their main advantage, the large sweeping swings they could perform, were useless and just outright dangerous to allies and enemies alike in close quarters. Perhaps that was why both figures had opted for direct downwards blows, but now that both axes were firmly planted in the ground from their miss, it was easy for Leonidas to pivot from a still crouched position and similarly cut off the other knight's left leg. "Using an axe like a sword is not a wise tactic," he stated, standing up and taking a single step backwards, momentarily taking up a defensive position before removing his left hand from Calamitas and jumping upwards, twisting to broadly sweep the heads off the struggling chocolate constructs. After landing, the soldiers now decapitated, he sheathed his blade. The advantages and disadvantages of being short, all summed up in one spar.

Enemies now absent, Leonidas's serious demeanor melted a little bit, curiosity overcoming him as he watched both Jaxus and Persies finish their fights. With no proper weapons, he wasn't surprised that they had taken more time them he, and that aside as he watched the spear-wielding foes he determined that they seemed to possess a slightly higher degree of intelligence then the ones he had fought. The light mage had pulled a pretty impressive technique on his opponent, and upon the crimson-eyed man feeling no sudden illusion of pain from its side effects he assumed it was not a type of holy magic that he had utilized. It had been a suspicion in the back of his mind, and he was relieved that he had not been proven true in that matter. Still, it would be better for Jaxus, and his falcon, to be shaded from that overwhelming definer of the blonde's identity. It would be better for every new person he met to not know about that. And most of his old acquaintances too, he supposed.

"Alright, so what's next?" he asked, a smile reaching his face as he realized how ridiculous the light mage looked coated in chocolate. Yet, Leonidas did not stop speaking, in a way answering his own question, and approaching the duo at the same time. "Basement or top floor? I don't really see anything here aside a staircase, and the princess is usually kept at the top of a tower, right? Maybe it's the same for four children."

Yes, the only thing the crimson-eyed man saw of note was the staircase, and not because of its grandness but for its pure usage. The pillars, even if they had been made out of marble which was clearly not the case because of the sickening smell that emulated from every corner of the estate, were nothing more then feeble decorations, and if used for support it would be made obvious where one should strike to bring the entire house down. The carpet, the pattern of the floor, they were all tasteless doilies. Someone needed to be taught a lesson in practicality.

As Leonidas gracefully dodged away from the two soldier strike, before effortlessly cutting through the right knights knee before swiftly dispatching of the soldiers through a swift swing of their blade, making it clear height was never a reliable measurement of strength. Indeed, if the witch wanted to stop the two, she would need to bring more to the table it seemed, only evidenced by the fight between Jaxus, Persies, and the last remaining soldier. As Jaxus only observed and watched, his bird fluttered and bobbed all around, making the spear thrusting soldier look more like a drunk flailing a stick. She wasn't just Jaxus' traveling partner, she was his best friend, and had built up experience fighting throughout their travels. The amusing act came to an end, rather abruptly however, as something strange happened.

With zero words, nor caws, nor even physical motions, Jaxus kicked off into a sprint towards the duo, and as the spear wound back for another thrust, Persies shot higher into the air, leaving Jaxus to deal with the cheap replica "soldier," if he could call a cheap toy like this one. Breaking into a quick, upwards pop, Jaxus tightly gripped the spear with both arms, crouching his legs and bracing himself, allowing him to be carried back by the motion, landing on his feet and digging his soles deep into the ground, coming to a sliding halt as he seized the chocolate beings spear.

"CA-CAAAW-CAAW!" //PERFECT TIMING!// Hyped up from their teamwork, now afew feet above the soldier, Persies allowed her primal instincts to guide her, golden white flames of light rippling from her feathers, and in a flash of light, the bird appeared now just close to a story tall, wreathed in golden white flames! With a single wing beat, then a second, Persies head nearly touched the ceilings, raising both of her massive talons high above the impaired soldier!

CRUNCH!

Like a falling anvil, Persies used brute force to simply stomp on the soldier with all of their might, explosively sending shards of chocolate all over the room! Lifting up her talons, and revealing nothing but a crushed pile of chunks and dust, Persies slowly shrank back down into her regular size, albiet, keeping her flame wreathed appearance as she landed on Jaxus shoulder. Looking to the half broken chocolate spear, and the tip pressing against his trench coat fruitlessly, Jaxus sighed, releasing his right hand and tossing the spear tip over his shoulder to the side. "And here I was kinda' hopin' for a challenge.~ Good job Persies.~" With a casual, closed eyed shrug with a minor smile, Jaxus offered a thankful nod and smile to Persies.

With that, he was suddenly pulled back to reality as Leonidas inquired to where to go next, turning to them, and unaware that their smile was due to the chocolate that was covering them, something that hadn't really registered in Jaxus mind quite yet. "Eh, good point actually.~ Nice work by the way, looks like we'll be back before dawn at this rate.~" With a smile and a chuckle, Jaxus looked upwards in a carefree fashion, and noticing something that previously skipped his attention, a large, crystal candy chandelier, deep in thought as choosing the wrong path, and taking too much time could cost the children their lives. Taking another cigarette out of his cloak, Jaxus lit it with a gaze, and first he huffed, then he puffed, and then, in a moment of realization...

"I got it! I'll blow the roof down!" Crouching downwards and clapping his hands together, orbs of light began to slowly appear around his forearms, circling around his palms as he spread them open. "CAAW! CA-CAAAW!" //NO! YOU IDIOT!// Snap! "OOOWWW-AAAH, GET OFF PERSIES!" Before Leonidas could see what Jaxus was about to do, or Jaxus could accidentally, "possibly" get the children he was supposed to save burned to a crisp, Persies bit Jaxus ear and jumped off his shoulder, hanging limp with a tight grip as Jaxus flailed and howled. "I get it, I get it, no explosions!" With that, Persies let go off the poor man's ear, fluttering back to his shoulder. "Caw-Caaw-Caaw-Ca-Caaaw...?" //How do you forget such important details...?//

"Iunno.~ Geez though..." Rubbing his sore, now mildly bleeding earlobe, Jaxus looked to Leonidas, if anything looking abit embarrassed at the scolding he just received. Never mind the fact he was just about to blow the roof off of a mansion in a rescue mission. "I'd say we go up, no real point' in buildin' oneself up so high just'a stay at the bottom, ya' know?" Jaxus' logic was confusing to say the least, but he had a point...kinda'. With that, and a quick nod, Jaxus still in flight began to hover up the book case, the railing of the elegant staircase suffering from a gradual melting with his passing.

-Back at the witch-

"No, no, no, no, no!" Screaming in frustration, hands held over her frantically shaking head, still perched over her magic candy ball. With a wild huff and throwing her arms to the side, the witch noticed a small bowl of small gumballs in a variety of bright colors. At that very moment, a sadistic grin crossed the witches face, reaching her bony, wrinkled hands slowly towards the bowl. "Want some more brats? Here..." Passing one of the gumballs to her other hand, the witch's grin became even more sinister. "HAVE SOME CANDY!" Slapping both hands upon either side of the candy ball, the gum balls entirely disappearing. "Candy!?" "Not you! You already have some! Keep eating!" "Awww..." Immediately, Gresel spoke up despite the large mountain of sweets he and their siblings feasted on, adding more to the witches stress, rubbing her temples with dismay.

-At the second story of the mansion.-

"Well, now ta' find the next setta' stairs...hmmm." Coming up at the top of the stair case, and nothing the way to the third floor was somewhere else, Jaxus tucked his hands into his pockets, drawing on his cigarette once more. Suddenly, in a blink out of nowhere, two floating gumballs would appear in the middle of the stairway hall, bobbing up and down ominously, yet before even a second could pass, something strange began to occur. The chocolate marble pillars and floors, the mild chocolate walls, the dark chocolate picture frames of various sweets, even the pictures themselves all began to bubble, turning into a thick liquid.

In a violent upheaval of the mansions structure, suddenly, walls and parts of the floor were ripped clear away, revealing the forest outside on the side of the house with the first staircase, the entirely of the chocolate amassing, twisting, writhing all around the gumballs. Then in a sudden change, from structured chaos to perfect order, the liquid chocolate began to form a humanoid structure, two legs, two arms, a humanoid torso, and a head, yet it's face was void of any and all features. Just sagging masses of melted chocolate...

Or so it seemed! Just as they formed, the two new opponents sent a whip like motion though their elastic like bodies, lunching forward as both their arms suddenly shifted into a liquid chocolate spear. "Oh crap!" As they lunged forward, remaining in place, the four spear like arms they sent out would thrust across the hall straight for the two, first aiming at two strikes to the chest for Leonidas, and Jaxus individually. Moving to the side at first to dodge the attack, Jaxus found himself off guard as the spears suddenly took a liquid, fluid form once more mid strike, lashing out against him!

Crack!

"Shit! Persies, stay back fer' abit!" "Ca-Caaw!" //Aye Sir!// Cringing as two lash marks formed across his left cheek, Jaxus felt himself staggering away, back to the wall, a certain, glowing golden light beginning to shine from his eyes. With another set of two whip like cracks, the beast struck again from the distance, yet this time, Jaxus ducked with ease, flowing under the attack as it struck the wall. "Oi, oi, we should take out their main bodies, agreed?!" With a mix of dodging, and open palm deflections, effectively karate chopping the tendrils at times before they could strike, Jaxus asked Leo their thoughts on this strange new foe. Luckily for Leonidas, while these foes were indeed faster, they also had the same, primitive mindset of their kin, leaving their strikes sloppy and uncoordinated, more primal than anything.

Interesting enough, it seemed Persies was indeed not a standard falcon. Based on her's and Jaxus's likeliness in terms of magic, the blonde could only assume that the two could understand each other in one way or another. Of course, he had taken note of the rhetoric the duo had exchanged with each other, but only now did was he certainly that the light mage was not simply an insane lunatic. Well, that could still apply, Leonidas supposed, but at the very least the teenager wasn't simply monologuing with an ordinary bird.

"Yes, I suppose," he replied disappointingly, his face reverting back to a blank slate if only for a moment. Although the idea of getting a task performed quickly was probably a good thing in Jaxus's mind, it was a horrid one in Leonidas's. Time spent idling, especially at night, never went over well with him anymore. It forced him to think, to remember. Scenes from bloodshed to joy, they were all the same in his mind, filled with pain. The good memories led him to think of the present fates of those involved, most which were grim realizations at the lesser end. The bad, they reminded him of who he really was.

He crashed his train of thought there. He had a distraction for now. A fine one, indeed. Insanity probably did apply, the blonde concluded, or at least to a degree, as before even trying to find an alternate way around, Jaxus had thought it a good idea to destroy the mansion altogether. Certainly, that would be interesting to witness, and would lessen the trio's headache quite a bit, but collateral damage was also something to take into account. Still a smile crossed his face, even as the mage's falcon bit his ear and presumably scolded him.

With another question did Jaxus make clear that he agreed with Leondias's conclusion. With that in mind, he climbed the staircase in a less grand way then the light mage, pausing at the top to observe the new landscape. The middle floor was not quite as ornately out of taste as the first, having lower ceilings and no pillars, but it still consisted of candy, sweets, and more candy. Sighing for a moment, the blonde's interest was soon piqued by the appearance of two small, floating spheres, soon followed by a vertigo-inducing change in scenery, as the spheres grew into featureless chocolate giants. Instinctively, Leonidas drew his blade for the second time that evening, even before the new constructs struck.

When the spear-like arms did come, he maneuvered Calamitas to slice through them, expecting no retaliation. However, that was not the reality. The detached spearheads reformed into crude daggers, propelled forward almost immediately to their original target. This time, the crimson-eyed man dodged to the right, but he wasn't fast enough. Pain coursed through his body as one of the shards found its way into his left shoulder, in between the joint of his arm and the end of his collarbone. A moment later, both daggers broke into minuscule pieces, but the puncture wound remained, dark blood dripping out of it profusely. There was no time for hesitation to agonize or wonder what the two's reaction to an obvious inhuman factor would be, though. With a clenched jaw, he unclipped the scabbard at his side and held it left-handedly in a reverse grip. He also adjusted the grip on his sword ever so slightly to face the blunt of the blade offensively instead of the edge itself. By then, the construct had started flailing about again, sending brown tendrils from every forward facing direction. With considerable effort did he ward each one off, half-heartedly listening to Jaxus's suggestion.

"No. If we go for any part of these constructs that was previously a part of the mansion, they'll just regenerate. One of us could hold them off while the other destroy the puppeteer behind this; no scratch that, too hard," he started, out of breath and with pauses in between with each defensive strike. "I'm pretty sure the power source of these abominations were those two spheres that were floating in front of us not too long ago. If we can pinpoint their location, they shouldn't be too hard to break." Within the writhing masses of candy, the previously mentioned spheres resurfaced at identical intervals, fifteen seconds apart for one second. It would be difficult, but the right timing was critical, for forcing an attack through the sheer amount of chocolate at any other time would pretty much be fruitless. Attempting to force his way forward, Leonidas continued talking, still somewhat brokenly.

"There's an interval at which the spheres are clear targets every fifteen second. Like... right now it's visible, see? I'm going to try to hit it at the next one."

I don't even know.
Jaxus swatted away yet another tendril as Leonidas replied, weaving left and right with every step, crouching and raising his center of gravity, and stepped back and forth when needed, the tendrils flailing all about. Though he lacked the raw experience of Leonidas in combat, Jaxus' eyes were more than enough to help him keep up. Even if abit sloppy, his form wasn't bad either, managing to deflect a majority of the strikes, splattering chocolate globs everywhere at his feet. Yet he managed to multi-task dodging and listening to Leonidas, first considering having someone rush straight to the source, before noting the difficulty of such a task. Luckily, he had managed to observantly point out the flaw with the being despite the short exposure to the enemy. Yet before Jaxus could react, the orb had disappeared in just a split second, further pointing out they would need to strike the moment it appeared with zero hesitation.

"Bet it on a single attack, ey?~" Swatting away another tendril with a chop, Jaxus chuckled at the idea. "I like it.~ Let's do it!" Yet, as Leo found out first, the beings body didn't merely cease to exist after being cut from the body! No sooner than Jaxus said this, the chocolate below his feet came alive, amassing together and reaching straight up for his legs!

"Eh?!" As Jaxus made another step back, his eyes widened in shock as the chocolate he previously scattered encased his feet in a hardened chocolate shell, and sticking him to the floor. Wasting no time, the copy Jaxus fought wasted no time, beginning to make violent lashes towards his face, feet, and chest. "Ah s-!" Raising his left forearm up, protected by his cloak, Jaxus guarded his face as a lash managed to strike his foot below the cloak, making a deep gash. Strike after strike was made in fluid succession, making gashes and cuts of various sizes across Jaxus face, center chest, and feet.

"Persies, head down! Here we go!" "Ca-Caaaw!" //Aye Sir!// Howling with a battlecry as Persies ducked her head into Jaxus coat, he focused the magic of his jets of light to center around his legs, slowly but surely melting the vile confection binding him to the ground. At first, just abit of give, gradually slipping out from it's grasp, then bursting forward in an explosive motion as the bonds finally broke! //Five, four...// Darting forward at top speed, the tendrils attempted to intercept Jaxus, lashing out through the air wildly, flailing like whips towards him! //Three, two...// Grasping his boomarang with his left hand, Jaxus spiraled, shifting to the side as he flew head first to narrowly dodge another tendril with a tight, narrowed focus //One!// Eyes shining with a brilliant light and shooting open wide as the orb appeared in the front of the chest, Jaxus focused in as the tendrils which were now behind him making a sharp U-turn!

Yet wasting not a second, for it was all they had, Jaxus ignored his flank, turning his body clockwise, he untorqued with a left swing with the boomarang at waist level! As expected, the chocolate mended and reformed as the swing passed, but the intent was not to injure the being, but to limit the orbs mobility for just a split second! Howling with all his might, Jaxus hand suddenly began to glow with a heavenly, golden colored light, the radiance exploded upwards, up his arm, through his chest, and passing through all his limbs, coating his entire body! Using his right hand to go with the motion, Jaxus thrust an open palm "straight" into the chocolate enemies chest right as the orb began to sink away, before violently making a twisting, ripping motion back from the being fist closed, his hand now coated in various small puncture wounds that while bleeding, began rapidly healing, along with the other gashes in his body as liquid chocolate dripped off his hand.

At the same time, the chocolate being, and the tendrils aiming for the back of his head stopped mid motion, standing in place like a liquid statue. "Too weak..." Making a minor comment on the puppeteers magic, Jaxus quickly shifted his right palm to his mouth, plopping inbetween his teeth a gumball dripping with chocolate. With a minor crunching sound, the gumball was sundered in half, and with it, the being Jaxus faced slowly melted down into a formless, liquid pool of chocolate, slowly solidifying with the spell over it gone. "It's fine now Persies.~ We should get goin' though fast.~" "Ca-Caw!~" //Aye!~// Popping her head out of Jaxus cloak, Persies nodded firmly, noting Jaxus making logical sense for once as he chewed upon the gumball, encouraging the endeavor.

Turning over to Leonidas, arms raised, Jaxus prepared himself to assist them, though noting Leo effectively having taken care of their own foe, seemingly just in time like themselves. "Oi Leo, nice work!~ However, at this moment Jaxus realized Leo seemed to have taken some damage, even bleeding. "Oi, oi! Leo, ya' alright? I can patch ya' up if ya' need it.~" Raising his right arm upwards, Jaxus vaguely pointed towards a silver bracelet on his forearm as he stepped forward to the blonde haired man.

Verba volant, scripta manent.

The batting away of appendages and makeshift weapons of various shades of brown continued. From far off the strikes were spaced out erratically and not in rapid succession, but the closer the blonde got to the mass of chocolate the more repetitive the attacks became. Intent on making it to the construct's weak point did he push forward, furiously maneuvering both his blade and scabbard in defense. On multiple occasions did he fail to flick away the incoming assault, resulting in a large lash mark on his back where cloth had been shredded away, a gash in his left calf, and several smaller scratches and marks littered on both arms. Still, there was no option then to prevail, so he pressed onward.

With only a few moments before the orb appeared, Leonidas twisted upwards, lodging the black wood he was holding into the viscous material that made up the mass approximately two feet above where he had seen the constructs weakpoint. As he predicted, the chocolate immediately hardened, allowing the blonde to hang suspended. With Calamitas in one hand did he poise the blade to strike horizontally, and lunge forward the crimson-eyed man did as the blue gumball came into view. It shattered upon contact, the assemblage of sweets sagging downwards soon after. Prying both weapons from the heap did he secure his footing back on the ground, although the action was cut short by another blinding flash of light from Jaxus's direction.

This time, however, it was different. The all too familiar caustic pain sweltered forward like an unwanted memory, and in a myriad of ways it was one. Yes, Eris was not with him that day because of a similar power, a truth that dug far deeper than his appearance let on, in all it's dishelevedness. Even though the setting was completely different, and there was no true enemy in sight, Leonidas's mind couldn't help but drift towards that day, even as his body was forced to take a knee. The grating voice, the clinkering of metal, it was impossible to wash out. He couldn't just toss his recollection aside though. After all, that would mean abandoning her.

Gradually, the burning sensation subsided, concluded with a single hack expelling blood. Fighting his own thoughts did the blonde rise from his position, sheathing the blade he was still holding in the process and reattaching it to his belt. As Jaxus walked over and commented on the puncture wound he had taken to the shoulder, Leonidas reached his right hand upwards touching the blood. Outstretching his palm in front of his for a moment before dropping his arm into a dismembered pocket, he wondered what the light mage was thinking. The lighting was rather dark, he supposed, especially in the aftermath of a brilliant explosion, but Jaxus had mentioned nothing of bias or exclamation. Perhaps he simply hadn't noticed, or maybe he really didn't care or saw nothing wrong with the color of the fluid outpouring from his wound. A part of him wished it to be the latter, no matter how unlikely that would be.

"Yes, I'm fine. That... might be of some concern though," the blonde replied, with little to no expression in his voice, to the gray-haired teenager's offer, turning his neck as to gesture towards the place where he had been hit most severely. A part of him wanted to mention something about the spell Jaxus had just cast, but no, that would bring too many suspicions to mind. It would be better for the crimson-eyed man just to push through the pain were it to come again.

Knowing that their objective was still out of grasp did Leonidas take a closer look around the floor the trio were on. A few steps to the left, and he noticed a less grand stairwell leading upwards. A door was present at the top, crafted out of more unreliable sweets, white chocolate to be exact. Gesturing with a hand did the blonde cue Jaxus and Persies over, quickly followed by a single finger over his mouth. With that, he ascended the staircase, and opened the unlocked door.

I don't even know.
Despite the dark lighting, it wasn't entirely as if Jaxus hadn't noticed the color of Leonidas' blood, but simply, didn't register to him of any importance, only watching with a look of concern, mouth shifted to the side in a puckered fashion as he observed them press a hand against the wound, before placing it in what remained of one of their pockets. "Oi, oi, I gotcha' Leo, don't worry.~" As Leo motioned with a look to their most grievous injury. Without really waiting for a real consent, or hesitation, Jaxus would step closer towards Leo right before they stepped off to explore the new floor, swiping their bracelet towards their shoulder from a close range, staying close behind to follow them.

Yet unlike the previous spell, this bracelet didn't utilize holy magic to heal, meaning that it would most likely provide little, to no pain towards Leonidas from it's use. Strangely for his up front, head first nature, Jaxus also seemed pretty equipped to deal with injuries as they arose. As he followed Leonidas, Jaxus quickly took note of the new staircase, which Leonidas led the way to. As they reached the large, double door made of white chocolate, Jaxus raised an eyebrow to the scene. Had they perhaps reached the final floor? With a queue from Leonidas, Persies on his shoulder, Jaxus stepped forward as Leo opened the door, awaiting what was to come...

The first sight they were met with was similar to the grand hallway, a huge, open room with a high rise ceiling, dark chocolate window frames, clear candied crystal as glass, rugs consisting of gummy like sweets, chairs tables made of milk chocolate, and all manner of confectionery delights. What stood out the most, however, was the table covered in sweets surrounded by four blonde haired children, and a short, ominously cloaked figure hunched over a table turned to them candy ball in hand, snarling with an evil grin. Of course, with her magical surveillance, she was all too aware of the duo breaking in. "Alright brats..." Suddenly, not one, or two, but "five" of the orbs from previously floated up behind them above head level. Similar to before, an upheaval of chocolate would occur, the wall inbetween the witch and the trio suddenly erupted as liquid chocolate flooded the room as a stream, intent on blocking the path towards the witch as an improved, adaptable shield. "If you want to mess with my plans, I'll just have you two be the main course instead!"

"Main course?! Th-" Before Jaxus could even question to context, or the witch if she intended to cannibalize the children she kidnapped, the chocolate wall shifted and contorted in form, amassing into a huge sphere of seeping, dripping liquid chocolate. Without warning, a dozen tendrils shot in all directions in a straight, spear like formation, switching fluidly to flail in all directions with it's whip like appendages. Simultaneously, five heads of chocolate began to form in random locations across the blob, worm like in appearance, yet with large gaping maws, and razor sharp teeth, solidifying into the strongest minion in the witch's disposal. Over twelve feet high, and even larger in width, it provided an immense barrier between the group and the witch.

"Alright, screw this!" Understandably bringing up a sore point in Jaxus' experiences in the war, he wasted no times taking his usual fighting stance, clapping his hands together and rearing back in a clockwise motion. "SUNSHINE! NOVA!" Releasing an immense blast of light upwards at a slight angle, Jaxus fired off a large beam of golden white, burning light, heating the room notably as the heated laser drove though the three middle faces, (Along with most of the body) of the chocolate monster. With a howl, the two heads on either side roared with pain as the mansion shook, more chocolate pouring in from the wall inbetween the groups, two more heads growing near instantly to add in their own pained howls. "Uh...Leo, ideas?!" As Jaxue looked towards Leo for a plan of action, the monstrosity of chocolate struck out with it's tendrils, intent on shredding the group slash by slash!

Verba volant, scripta manent.

The crimson-eyed man was more than a bit disappointed as the doors led to another overly grandiose room, and the schemer of the entire ordeal showed their face as a withered elderly woman, her long nose pointing towards unnaturally old age with evident severe consequences. Yes, it was times like those that he recalled it was not a normal trait to possess antiquity without an outside trace of it.

"Oh for crying out loud, what is with Lavender Forest and cannibals?" he muttered at the same time Jaxus exclaimed, but unlike the light mage Leonidas continued even as the scenery started to shift for the second time that night. Of course, the witch's use of the word brats did not go unnoticed, it was more or less that he didn't care in the slightest. Verbal insults, especially those thrown in ignorance, were simply that. The blonde's annoyance originated more from the woman's insistence to create monsters meant more to intimidate then to actually serve their purpose. For example, take the mass of tentacles and heads that had just been created. It was more of a defense mechanism then something meant to drive out intruders, or kill them. After all, even though it could muster fast attacks, its maneuverability wasn't the greatest.

In any case, it was still a threat. Assuming that the construct had the same regenerative properties as before, Leonidas hesitated to draw his blade, instead ducking and out-stepping the tendrils of chocolate as they came, content on playing on defense for the time. After all, the witch was too preoccupied with attacking the trio to do anything to the children behind the aberration they were facing, or at least presumably so.

Jaxus had decided to take just the opposite action, countering with a great beam of light. The outcome was unfavorable, as the blonde predicted, but the three were not out of options yet. Nay, the light mage's technique had given Leonidas an idea, or more precisely reignited a previous thought. For while it had been quick, the regeneration of the construct was not instantaneous.

Between breaths did he reply. "If you can pull something off like that again, I might be able to make it to the other side of this... abomination before it can regenerate completely. The true weak spots of constructs like these are their casters. If the witch is killed... or even knocked unconscious, this mess will disappear. I suppose a threat could also pull off the task... but you get what I'm trying to say, right?"
