Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Mallorie continued to impress Vivian with her maturity, accepting her words at face value and not getting offended. She was starting to feel more and more comfortable with the idea of letting Mal near little ghosty on a regular basis, something that was bound to free up quite some time in the coming months. She couldn't stay here in Magnolia full time to care for her plant, and it wouldn't be wise to try and transport it right away.

"I'm glad to have met you too dear. It's been a pleasure from the moment I met you, quite literally." Vivian chuckled as she wondered how she would have handled the situation outside had Mal been less accommodating. "Keep at it and you'll be where you want to be before you know it."

Seeing the look of shock on Mallories face caused Vivian to smile sheepishly. She really didn't know how to even begin to explain the gaps in her knowledge, and she was certain more would make themselves apparent if they were to spend more time together. It quickly turned into a look of concern as Mal began waving her 'totem' as Vivian thought of it around. "Although I'd ask that you be careful with magic in here, there's a lot of... delicate... oh my."

After a spectacular light show that left her with a strong desire to recreate those runes later and study them in depth out of the smoke came a young girl unlike any she had seen before. Taking a moment to place glasses on her face the scientist in her quickly took over control as that same child-like excitement came over her. Standing up she stepped closer but maintained a respectful distance from the summon while muttering under her breath. She wasn't even aware that she was talking aloud as she rapid-fire went through all her observations. "Breath-taking... reptilian skin, yes? Yet humanoid in shape. Serpens the serpent. Cute play on words, hat is quite adorable. Perhaps used to attract prey?"

Using one finger to poke the point of the spear in some other direction than her own she then held out the same hand and introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Vivian. Please don't impale me?" She stumbled over her words in her excitement, glancing over at Mallorie as she explained. This was all sounding very familiar for some reason, and that only added to her excitement. Perhaps there was a clue here into who she was? She pressed tentatively, not sure if that was something Mallorie found interesting to talk about in the first place. "Go on?"

Fortunately, Mallorie wasn't disrespectful; therefore, any calamity that could have struck when she summoned Serpens didn't happen, almost as if she assumed that such could have happened. However, Mallorie wasn't in the business of accidentally wrecking someone's domicile with magic -- although she has heard that there were such mages capable of doing so, even if by complete accident. Instead, Mallorie's deliberate shifts in choreography when summoning Serpens allowed her to fluidly open the gate, and Serpens appeared in an empty, safe spot. And, of course, since the Serpent had no choice but to follow Mallorie's requests and orders, the stellar spirit didn't go on a sudden rampage. After all, they weren't in the heat of any battle.

"Well,"
Mallorie continued. "A Stellar Spirit mage's goal is to acquire the twelve Zodiac Gate Keys. This shows that they're really strong, and these Gate Keys are rumored to have power equal to an S-class mage. But, well . . . They're incredibly, horribly rare, and very few exist. . . In fact, no one really knows how many exist, or if they exist at all. It's complicated. But, there's a legend that states that once the twelve Gate Keys are gathered, the Stellar Spirit king will grant that mage a wish. He's kind of like a God, I suppose. . ."

While Mallorie trailed off, Vivian was getting acquainted with Serpens. Glancing momentarily to Vivian prodding Serpens' spear tip, the spirit didn't seem to mind -- almost as if she were used to such invasive sacrilege. However, it was evident to Serpens that this strange mortal woman was a friend of Mallorie's, and she didn't retaliate to the sudden trespassing into her personal space. With the hand outstretched, Serpens' willow green, serpentile gaze settled on the woman's hand. And this is when Serpens became swirly-eyed and completely dumfounded.

"Are you requesting that I remove your hand, de-arimasu?"
Serpens questioned, genuinely and without any hint of sarcasm.

"A-ah! No, Serpens, that's. . . " Mallorie began, utterly flustered, and then sighed; Serpens' confusion continue to settle in as she gazed at her contractor. "It's a greeting," Mallorie offered, trying to explain mortal conduct to the Serpent. "If she offers her hand, that means she's happy to meet you. It's pretty formal,"

Serpens looked up, and then down at Vivian's own hand. Settling her spear to the side, she grasped Vivian's hand with her own scaly, slimy, clammy hand -- much like a real reptile! This was indeed impressive. And then, Serpens looked to Mallorie, and the stellar spirit mage urged Serpens on to shake Vivian's hand. So, Serpens did so -- with a little bit too much force. However, due to Serpens' slithery composition, her hand slipped out of Vivian's own hand as if it were initially covered in wax. Quirking a brow, Serpens shrugged, and grasped her spear anew.

"If there is nothing else for me here, I shall be going, de-arimasu,"
Serpens stated, prepared to leave.

Nodding at Mallorie's explanation Vivian listened attentively while trying her hardest not to stare at Serpens. The talk of other dimensions from earlier and these powerful artefacts piqued her interest to the point where, had she more time and less things on her plate, she'd go looking for them herself if only to know more. The existence, presumed or otherwise, of some kind of deity was a point that was worthy of further investigation.

As Serpens tried to process the fact that a handshake had been offered Vivian couldn't help but start to giggle even with the threat of losing the offending limb. She just couldn't help how cute the snake lady was at least to her sensibilities. "Please don't," she gently shook her head as she fought to suppress the giggles. "I rather still need that you know."

The texture and temperature were almost unsurprising at this point as so much else was reptilian. It stood to reason that this individual was more reptile than human in nature despite its form. It shook her hand once, twice, and then slipped through her fingers despite her best effort to hold on. Shrugging she went to get a cloth and started cleaning off her hand.

"Serpens really is something else. I'm afraid my own magic simply cannot compare... to bridge the gap between worlds and form a bond with beings beyond our understanding. Absolutely delightful. Before you go Serpens I have a question I'd like to ask you." She cleaned her hand methodically of the slime not seeming to be distasteful of the offending slime but simply for the sake of being thorough. "I can figure out the benefit for the summoner easily enough, but what about you? What do your people gain from this exchange?"

Mallorie wasn't surprised at how abrasive and. . . Socially incompetent Serpens was. The Serpent had always been this way, with everyone; she even refuses to show any genuine emotion to her own summoner as well. Mallorie wonders if, someday, Serpens will showcase even a smidgen of happiness or intrigue. However, Serpens always remains completely like plaster, and only changes every so often, and every so little; she was definitely a wall drying from a paint job, and Mallorie would never tell her this to her face. Nonetheless, the spirit had saved her numerous times from particularly perilous situations, and she was thankful for such.

Serpens, now interrupted, turned to look at Vivian and blinked. "There is no gain from this exchange," Serpens stated matter-of-factly. "For whatever reason, we are to serve those who acquire our key and properly form the contract. Likewise, the contractor must heed our schedule requests, for there is often a time when we are called elsewhere by another whom holds the same key." Serpens continued to explain. "I suppose, though, freeing me from boredom is payment enough. Nonetheless, there is no genuine gain." With that, Serpens bowed slightly and dissolved into glistening magic particles, disappearing from their realm.

"She's a little. . . " Mallorie began, trailing of. "But, she's not wrong. They don't ask for anything in return. . . Ever. They're really amazing that way." Mallorie told Vivian, in awe. "They have to heed our every order, no matter how tall, and can't refuse us. Doing so would be a breach of contract, but I never let Serpens do all the work. If I can fight the enemy, I fight along side her. It's always going to be that way." Nodding, she turned to Vivian. "But it's really not that impressive," She quickly began to dismiss the notion. "The key's the true medium, I simply draw out its power. If I could summon Serpens from the Stellar Spirit world by myself, without the key, then maybe. . . " But, Mallorie knew that wouldn't happen.

"Well. . . Maybe I should get going? Unless you have more questions?"

Not being phased in the slightest by Serpens' attitude Vivian listened to her explanation calmly. It was not quite what she was expecting, a one way contract that held no discernible benefit for anyone other than the one holding the leash. The fact that the summons were ok with it could mean a number of things. Her working theory was that it perhaps had something to do with this Stellar Spirit king Mallorie had mentioned. Was he directing the other spirits to do this, and if so what was he getting out of it?

"Thank you very much Serpens, my curiosity is sated for the time being." Bowing slightly at the disappearing particles of light she crossed her arms once the snake lady was gone and sat back down. Turning her head to look up at Mallorie she gave her a warm smile. "I can tell you treat her well Mal. It makes me feel better about the idea of you out there taking on the more risky jobs knowing you have her watching your back too."

Finishing off her tea Vivian put away her glasses as they were no longer needed. Clearing off her side of the table and stacking everything neatly she gave Mallorie a sideways look. "I shan't keep you if you have places to be, but I do have something for you." Heading to a nearby bookshelf she opened up a wooden box made of plain oak and took out a key from inside. As she returned Vivian slid it across the table at Mallorie.

"It's no Zodiac Gate Key, but it'll get you into my apartment here if you ever need anything. If I'm not around just help yourself to what you need, within reason of course."

Today certainly has been quite the day for Mallorie. Now that all was said and done, Mallorie nodded to Vivian as she handed her the key, which allowed her entrance to her apartment. "I'll definitely come in here to take care of Ghosty," She promised, placing the key into her knapsack -- which one would think she would use to store her Stellar Spirit key, but then again, she does need to have immediate access to Serpens at all times. Who knows when she'll end up getting into some kind of perilous danger? And, candidly, Mallorie wasn't the type of person to avoid danger all too easily. If anything, she was far too prone to it -- just one of her many character quirks. Unfortunate, but true -- and she detested that she was a danger magnet.

"I do try to treat her well, that's definitely true. . . We're friends, after all. I mean, anyone who's willing to virtually sacrifice their life for you is a friend, always. But. . . Well, it's not like she can die anyway -- but she can feel pain! I think. . ." Mallorie rubbed her arm, smiling lightly and contemplating her day. "It really has been a great day, Vivian. It was really great to meet you. You taught me a lot, and I hope we'll continue to be friends a while longer." Assuming Vivian shared the same sentiment, Mallorie turned the door and exited Vivian's apartment, as well as her apartment building.

As Mallorie walked along the city streets, now nighttime having switched places with daytime, the Stellar Spirit mage began to contemplate her day in full. I met someone in the most serendipitous way, and nothing stupid happened. And she taught me so many things. . . She kind of humbled me? Well, I guess I need it, considering where I come from. . . It's not like I didn't want to help people, but I was way too focused on my own goals and destinations than the actual journey. I can't just pretend that I'm doing all of this for myself, anyway. . . Well, now I know. . . I'll definitely pay her back by taking care of her precious plant. Maybe I'll even clean her apartment weekly? I don't think I'll need the pay. . .

Chuckling at herself, Mallorie withdrew the key from her knapsack and looked at it. Smiling lightly once more, her veneer was pleasant and calm.

". . . I really hope I don't kill her plant."
