Mallorie's stomach was rumbling at the prospect of food. She was so happy that Lilith offered to pay for this little pleasure excursion, for the mage hadn't enough in her budget to "splurge" on something all of a sudden. A lot of people didn't know that Mallorie was intensively frugal; there was never a time she frivolously spent her Jewels while traveling. However, when she was in Magnolia, her austere lifestyle turned into a spree, and there was a reason she was always scrambling for jobs to accrue more Jewels. This Stellar Spirit mage was certainly a little odd, but even so, she was lucky to be hitting it off with someone -- hopefully after all this, she'll be able to meet with Lilith. Yes, hopefully. Mallorie took the few moments she had to analyze the brownstone building the two entered. It was definitely ornate and acutely designed; even the boughs of greenery which hung from the windows added charm and exquisite taste to the building. The windows were pristine and polished, and the white door which allowed entrance to all patrons seemed to be the kind one would see in a fairy tale. Smiling lightly, Mallorie was glad that they had chosen this place to head into -- she could already feel the atmosphere wafting from within, coiling about her and penetrating her nostrils. It smelled like freshly brewed coffee and delightful pastries. . . Her stomach growled once more. Chuckling to herself, once the two headed in, Mallorie noted how congested the shop was as well. Belladonna and this coffee shop sure are popular, she thought to herself, quirking a pensive thought. With a few people in front of her, Mallorie looked up at the menu. A myriad of choices were displayed: coffees of different flavors and makes, pastries which were baked and even grilled, and even appetizers for the sake of it all. Once the two were next, regardless of who went next, Mallorie made her choice and ordered promptly. "I'll take the chocolate glazed churro and the milk with coffee, please -- with extra sugar!" She wished, enthusiastically. Once they were finished ordering, they'd eventually find a seat -- surely. "This really is great -- and what makes it even more great is that I'm enjoying it with a new friend," She gushed, taking a sipping of her delicious milk coffee. Stars were in her eyes at how divine the coffee tasted on her palette. Amazing. "So, Lilith," Mallorie began, settling her coffee down. "What magic do you use?" |

As Mallorie ordered her coffee and pastry enthusiastically, Lilith smiled, happy that the rose-haired girl was so joyful. The mage was almost surprised as she realized how naturally the gesture came now. As it was her turn to order, the brown-haired girl leaned her hands against the counter, casually speaking. "Can I have a cappuccino along with a chocolate eclair please?" Paying for both of them, Lilith then continued to walk over to a circular wooden table with two chairs pulled up. The spacial mage sitting in one chair, the celestial in the other, Lilith took a sip of her coffee, satisfied with the creamy yet not overly diluted taste. The other girl's next words surprised Lilith somewhat, although the emotion didn't show on her face. The fact that the celestial spirit mage had called her a friend, that made the blue-eyed girl think for a moment. The two had just met, minutes before, yet she used the word 'friend'. What even did qualify as a friend in the first place? An acquaintance, a mutual kindness, trust even? It was just another addition to Lilith's seemingly endless questions. Even though questions floated in her head, yet again the brown-haired girl couldn't help but smile, even if it was possibly from the delicious liquid she was consuming. Yet again, after Mallorie spoke Lilith couldn't help but think, although this time it was simply a matter of how to phrase her answer. She did know what type of magic she wielded, after all, even though she was a novice at best. "Well, my magic is called Arc of Space, but I guess that refers more to space between objects and the like and not, well space space," Lilith started, but then realized that she probably wasn't making any sense. "Here, I'll just show you." Leaning towards the crowd to block any onlooker's vision, she concentrated on the cappuccino she was holding and the eclair set on a napkin in front of her. After a few moments, the two objects swapped places, although no miraculous flashes or sparks preceded or followed. It simply was what it was. Taking a bite out of the pastry she was now holding, Lilith said a final statement. "That's pretty much all I can do at the moment along with a few other tricks, I guess. I'm still pretty new to really practicing magic." |

"Arc of Space, huh?" Mallorie uttered as Lilith demonstrated. Her brows kipped up as Lilith managed to switch the eclair and the cappuccino. It all happened in an instant, but Mallorie did note a sort of instant distortion of space -- however paradoxical that sounded -- when the two swapped places. It was interesting enough, and Mallorie had read somewhere about obscure magic capable of controlling time, accelerating time, and all sorts. . . But never anything about spatial magic? Maybe Mallorie did read up on it once upon a time and simply glazed over it. She wasn't entirely sure, but all this thinking on a day that turned into quite the lax time was too much for her. Shaking her head, she took her drink in hand. Taking several long sips, Mallorie continue to enjoy the magical pleasantry that was her latte. Although she preferred to call it milk with coffee, she didn't care -- it was delicious nonetheless. She even went so far as to drip her churro into the coffee, and bit into it with an effervescent ebullience on her face. "That kind of magic will definitely come in handy someday, I'm sure," Mallorie cared to mention. "It's like. . . You can bend the fabric of space, if I'm understanding correctly? Not entirely sure. I mean, I did read somewhere about something called 'Arc of Time', but I didn't think anyone would be practicing something similar. The world sure is large," Laying back slightly in her chair, Mallorie drew her hands behind her head, elbows akimbo. "Really, really large. . . I wonder how things will turn out in such a big world," Mallorie continued to wonder, before regaining her composure. "So, what do you aspire to do with your magic? What do you think you'll be able to do? I mean, it's kind of. . . I mean, it looks like magic that can almost do anything?" Mallorie paused, then gasped. "Maybe someday you can even teleport? Wouldn't that be so cool? Teleporting would be great. . ." Mallorie chuckled creakily, thinking of how easy her life would be if she could instantly move to other places. So much easier. |

"Yup,'" she replied. Alright, so maybe she had been showing off a little bit with the magic she had been using. Really, if Lilith was being honest with herself she probably shouldn't have done such a thing in public. But the mage really couldn't help herself. Putting the eclair down, she picked up her coffee again. No more magic tricks for Lilith, that much was certain. Listening to Mallorie's question slash statement, the mage pondered it for a moment. Being honest with herself, the brown-haired girl didn't really know what the magic could do. It was quite a difficult thing to master on her part, even after having the opportunity to have been practicing for years. Although it wasn't really that, the mage supposed. After all, there had been almost no free time on her part while in Dandelion. "Yeah, it's something like that. I've never heard of this Arc of Time though. Sounds interesting. I'm surprised you can control time with magic actually." The coffee in Lilith's hand was about half empty by then, but she didn't really mind. She wasn't a huge fanatic of the beverage like so many people tended to be, but the caffeinated stuff wasn't all that bad either. Except maybe for one's health. Regardless, the blue-eyd girl looked around for a moment, noticing the cafe was far less crowded then it had been a little while ago. Perhaps the cluster outside had also cleared up. Whatever the case, the two girls' conversation was stilling going, so Lilith had no urge to get up and leave, at least not yet. "Hmmm, I don't know about teleporting. I haven't ever tried switching the positions of living things to be frank. Fundamentally it should be the same..." Lilith trailed off, then continued with a different subject. "So what does celestial magic do besides summon spirits?" |
