Get Chance and Luck!!

War. It never changes. The news of the Boscan War had spread through the papers of Fiore's media outlets, not that Iris really cared. Death was a common plague that covers this world, and as part of her job, she generally deals with it on a regular basis. Today's call let her travel to the far reaches of the land towards the city of Poinsettia, being a Knights point of contact for unknown deaths and weird killings, thanks to her unique talents of investigative work. The city it’s self was quite stunning, the streets bustling and the sun shining in its midday glory of gentle rays. Lionel Hutts, one of the Captains at the Belladonna Knights Branch, or "BKB" she would call them, have sent her to this place for port on the job. She has been out of the game for a while, so money was a issue for the cost of living and over general survival, food is a thing that she needs. Arriving in front of a building that stands about 4 stories, could be an apartment complex or small time offices, were some yellow tape wrapped around with text saying “CRIME SCENE” in a square covering a general spot, some Knights that stood around the outside of it handling the crowd that stood around it. Behind the fenced up part, were what looked like a forensic team scanning the area for what could be so called evidence, I nice bolt of blood covered ground, looking like it set in a little bit. Iris stepped up to the tap, and one of the knights with dirty blonde hair, cut short, like it could be a horrible buzz cut, stopped her in her tracks. “Please stay behind the yellow tape.” Iris just stood there looking at him and stepped again. “I said this is a crime scene, so please stay behind the line.” He said again, Iris stared at the dirty blonde knight with an irritating mood, she was not pleased his actions. She stepped back a bit and the ran at the tape, going low and sliding beneath it, dirt kicking up as she does, and it hits the now ever dirtier Knights face, giving out a coughing fit. She sticks the landing and the crowd and other Knights look at her confusingly. “What the hell was that?” Said one guy, “Do you not know that this is a crime scene? OUT NOW!” He bellowed. This guy must have been in charge, despite being rather skinny and small, but man his voice was deep, he must have drooped, but something else did as well. Iris then speaks, taking out a piece of paper, “Iris was sent as a consultant, from Belladonna. She then hands the slip to the sergeant. But the sergeant looks like his about to pop a vein.” She says in a cool voice. The skinny guy take the paper and goes over it, muttering. “I hereby decree our consultant in place for this case, since our men are recovering from the war. Signed Captain Lionel Hutts." He gives a puff and folds the paper, giving it back to her. “You’re a little late to the party aren’t you? You should have been here 12 hours ago.” “At least Iris is here, it’s not easy travelling here, especially when couldn’t catch a ride to get here faster. Tell me about the scene? So Iris can do her job. The Sargent looks at Iris as if he’s confused,” The Sargent nods and, oddly enough, he was confused by Iris’s way of talking. “Victim name is Deid Mann, 34, has a wife and child, he’s a local here as well. Apparently he fell from the roof, not ruling a suicide yet, but still investigating. Last place seen was a bar called… “ He looks over the case notes, “… Jaxus Bar, 14 hours ago. Still waiting on the coroner’s report.” Iris soaked in the news. “This looked like a cut and paste crime, possible suicide, but nothing is that black and white. It was time for Iris to do what she does, her professional job. Iris asks the twig Sargent, What can Iris do to start?” The twig Sargent wasn’t amused by that snide remark from Iris. But, he hands her a photo of the guy, dead of course. “I want you to go to the bar and ask around, we haven’t had a chance to scope out the place. We are still surveying the building for witnesses.” Iris took the photo and lest the scene, the dirty blonde watched her leave, keeping a keen eye on him, he looked like he cleaned him self well. “The Dirty Blonde Knight looks clean, but he missed a spot on his nose.” She says looking at him. The Knight didn’t believe her, but as she walked away, he scrubbed hard on his face, what a scrub. Deid Mann’s photo was just his face, the background looks like it was taken at the coroners operation table, the man had light brown hair, cut short and spiked, a button nose and normal mouth, sith soft lips, that were a light pink. His skin was white, although pale from lack of life and stubbled beard in his chin. The eye’s were shut, so couldn’t see the eye color. Iris arrived at the bar, it was open for the public, so she entered. The place looked deserted a bit, with very few lowlife patrons and the barkeep at the bar. The guy had a dark silver hair, emerald green eye’s. She walks up to the bar and takes a seat on one of the stools. She places the photo on the bar surface and says, “Iris requires information, has the bartender seen this man in the last 24 hours? Official Knights business. This man was last seen leaving this establishment.” Iris awaits the mans reply. |

I don't even know.

Jaxus' merely slumped over the counter of the bar with a bored look on his face, noting the bar's little amount of patrons within the bar. If it wasn't for the lack of funds and his need to keep the bar up, he probably wouldn't even be here. Well...that wasn't true entirely... "Man, Persies, this has kinda' been gettin' borin'..." "Ca-Caaaw..." //Aye...// Taking a sip of the "irish coffee" next to side side, his left cheek resting on his left palm, their elbow placed upon the counter, Jaxus shook his head left to right, blinking in a way that highlighted the bags under his eyes. He never was quite the same after the war, constant night terrors, a sense of guilt, confusion to who he was as a person, and a mage of Blue Pegasus. He thought maybe some time alone could fix it, just some time to think, yet, all he had found was boredom. "Maybe we should start adventurin'gain soon...I'm gettin' really restless...Where's Fleur anyway...? Thought she'd be workin' ta'day..." "Ca-Caaw.~" //Iunno...// Looking at the clock, Jaxus noted it was afew hours past noon, taking a deep breath, hoping to brace himself to keep the bar open abit longer, something needed to pay the bills when he wasn't traveling after all. Like Jason, his patterns of being open and closed were based upon his whimsy, and mostly, if he was in Poinsettia and whenever he woke up. Still, there was just something eating at him. He figured time to relax and think things over would help him after the war, yet, all he found was boredom, dissatisfaction, and little answers. He would need to make plans for another expedition soon it seemed, whether he was ready or not. Taking up his irish coffee mug, Jaxus rose it high and took afew deep drinks from the mug, placing it down before noticing a girl with snow white and dark purple hair, the shade of lavender seemingly matching her eyes. "Ey, what'can I'do fer'ya?~" Jaxus eagerly awaited a response, but as Iris sat down and placed a picture on his bar, Jaxus looked down towards it, raising his right hand to awkwardly scratch his finger, abit taken back by what was going on. Taken abit back by her inquiry, Jaxus looked to Iris with a blank look, his mouth shifting the side in a confused manner, unsure of how to respond. What was going on anyway? "Ca-Caaw!" //Jaxus, look!// Suddenly reacting, Persies hopped down from his shoulders near the poster, hopping up and down as she lightly clawed at the picture. "Eh...?" Jaxus cocked his head down to the picture presented, squinting in confusion, before his eyes suddenly lit up with realization. "E-Eh!? Deid?!" At that moment, Jaxus looked up to Iris, his mouth puckering up and twisting to the side once more in confusion. "Oi, ya', course I saw'em.~ He's one'a our best customers, even before I worked'ere. Even told me he walked by every night ta' see if we were open even when I was travelin', left bit'after twelve last night..." Jaxus looked to the picture presented, and the backround below, before looking back to Iris, taking a deep breath with hesitation in his voice. "D-Did somethin' happen ta'em...?" Jaxus voice, and facial expression was openly expressing concern, his chest heavily expanding as he breathed, as if fearing the possibility of bad news. Edited by SilverRush, Mar 20 2017, 02:41 AM.

“Was something wrong? The man looks like he made a bet with his life against gravity and gravity won. There was blood and everything. If Iris could arrest gravity, Iris would for grounds of several counts of murder and not able to let Iris fly. Stupid gravity” She waves her fist in the air in anger and gives off a little pouty face with it as well. She pulls out a note pad and pen to record the info… “Is apparently a regular, left after twelve AM. Witness, who has an awesome accent, kind of want to replicate it. Iris will now do the next best thing she can and ask around the bar. Hostility here isn’t needed.” She say’s a in a narrative voice. “Barkeep, Iris would like a class of milk on the rocks.” She asks, banging her fist on the counter and moving to the first lowlife at a nearby table. “Oi you lowlife…”, she says slamming the table with her hand, placing the photo on the table. “Would you know this drunkard?” The man doesn’t even look at the photo, as if he doesn’t acknowledge her, “Damn background NPC scums, not being helpful. Have you or have you not seen this man?” The man just holds out a hand. “Jewels or nothing.” Well that request was a bust. “Time for Iris to change tactics, Info or your life.” Her eye’s start to go brown, and thins were about to throw down, face down position. All the reply was is a stuff you and silence. “Well, you just activated Iris’s trap card…” Iris slams the guy’s face into the table, grabbing his hair, things didn’t need to get violent, but that was the fun part. There wasn’t blood, but a lot of satisfaction and answers. The things said wasn’t enough to warrant noting. Just the same old thing of blah blah blah regular blah blah. She move to the next guy, who just saw the whole show, he knew that there wasn’t any use being a tough guy. This time Iris just sat down and stared at the guy with her still brown eyes, like she was ready to pounce or attack him in some way. He caved and said he saw him last night but nothing noticeable at all. “Damn… Dead ends everywhere. Iris knew that this wasn’t going anywhere. So Iris decided to go back the bar, until word came of any new findings at the scene. All she could do was sit and wait and make idle chat with the southerner bartender.” She walks back the bar and sits down at the same stool. “Barkeep, what more can you tell me of the Deid guy? Also, who are you and where the hell do you come from, Iris want’s to learn that sexy accent. And hell is that bird?” She looks at the bird. "Polly want a cracker?" The milk was sitting on a coaster, grabbing it and chugging it down and ending with a loud burp, disgusting, but hilarious none the less, of at least she thought so. |

I don't even know.

"E-Eh...?" Jaxus found himself abit off guard at the way Iris spoke, but surprisingly was quick to understand what Iris meant, his eyes widening in shock as his mouth twisted to the side once more. //Poor guy...// They had been a loyal, long time customer to the bar, and thought Jaxus didn't talk to him much, he was one of the favored members of the bar. Though as she went to explain her desire to arrest gravity, partially for not letting her fly, Jaxus only stared on with a slack jawed response, slowly turning to Persies, his avian friend doing the same in a confused manner, before looking back to Iris, who seemed to be seemed to jot down some into on a note pad. //Awesome...? What accent...?// //Iunno...// Jaxus was equally confused as he was embarrassed, not usually one to get compliments, but how thick his accent got at times, especially when drinking was completely beyond him. And of course Persies wouldn't notice too much either, considering she was hearing his voice before she even hatched. "Yeah, I'd'preciate it if ya' didn'get rowdy here, thanks.~" Jaxus tone was sarcastic, yet spoken in a whimsical, light hearted manner, chuckling abit as he said so. "Aye, aye.~ Glass of milk on the rocks, comin' right up.~" Musing what a strange request that was at a bar, Jaxus took a clean cup from the back counter, filling it up one third of the glass with ice, moving on to the nearby fridge to grab a glass, only to hear the distinct sound of someone's face being rammed into a table, container of milk held in his right hand, Jaxus raised his left hand, palm open to his face, taking a deep, long breath and shaking his head. At the very least though, today was getting less boring. "Ey! What'd I jus' say bout' gettin' violent? Relax already.~" Placing Iris' order on a coaster, Jaxus went to grab a half bottle that the remaining liquor, walking over to the man Iris battered into a table and placing it down for them. "Sorry bout' that, hope they're no hard feelin's.~" The man, rubbing their face in soreness, only looked up to Jaxus with a minor scowl before shrugging, and taking the peace offering. If the circumstances were different, he may have asked Iris to leave, but considering the knight buisness, and the association his bar held to the case, he decided to let it slide for now. As he walked back to the bar, Jaxus overheard Iris speaking in a narrative fashion, which Jaxus found himself getting more used to, lightly smiling as he let out a stifled chuckle, at least, until she referred to him as a southerner. "Ca-Caaw-Caw!" //Hahahah! She nailed you.// To which, Jaxus raised a finger to object, before a clueless, dazed expression crossed his face, mouth agape, his eyes and head tilting upwards as he muddled through tangled bits of knowledge he had about Poinsettia and the surrounding geography. //Oh, welp...// As it turned out, Snap-Dragon Creek was "indeed" south of Poinsettia, and by result...Yep. Jaxus was a southerner, and he hadn't even realized it until now. As Iris took a seat down at back at the bar, Jaxus found himself subject to a rapid fire barrage of questions, more about Deid, who he was and where he came from, what Persies was, and even if she wanted a cracker! Though, what got Jaxus most frazzled to keep up with the questions was how she referred to his accent as sexy, immediately causing him on instinct to cock his head to the side, scratching the side of his cheek with his index finger, a light blush on his cheeks, and not just from the alcohol. He was faintly aware of what that term meant, and hardly ever heard the term in his long journey, but what he did know was, he never had anything about him and "sexy" put together in the same sentence. As Jaxus attempted to regain his senses from a dazed, slightly bashful stupor, Persies only stared back at Iris with equal curiosity as she chugged the glass of milk. "Mphh!" Jaxus was suddenly pulled out of his deeply frazzled, socially awkward stupor when Iris let rip a huge burp, a sudden contraction occurring in Jaxus chest in response. "Mpph-" Though he tried to remain serious, Jaxus failed entirely, breaking out into a chain of laughter, Persies only looking at him with confusion from his shoulder. //Guys are weird...// As he finally managed to get control of himself after the short laughing stint, Jaxus could help his grin as he replied to Iris, shaking his head side to side in a playful manner. "S-Sorry fer' laughin', just...didn' expect that.~ First thin' first I guess.~" "Name's Jaxus, Jaxus Morbane, and this'er is my travelin' pard'ner an' friend, Persies.~ Nice ta' meet'cha.~ "Ca-Caa-Caaw.~" //A pleasure.~// Bein' honest with ya', we aren't really sure what typa' bird she is, someone once called'er a "Rainbow Tail Pheonix," but I always kinda' thought she was more like a falcon...And I don't see any rainbows on'er tail feathers either, so...yeah. No clue.~" Really and truly, this was their best explanation, Jaxus had been wondering what type of bird Persies once since she hatched, but never quite found much answers. "As fer' where I'm from, that'd be Snap-Dragon Creek, but I really wouldn' say it's a great place ta' visit other than the food. Everyone an' everythin' there's pretty borin'.~" "As fer' Deid, well, it's a pretty small bar, makes it easier ta' know everyone bit' better, place ain't that popular after Jason disappeared..." "Ca-Caa-Ca-Caaw-Caw-Caaw...Ca-Caaw-Caw." //Maybe because the bar's open less than even when he owned it...which says alot, Jaxus.// Persies shook her head, and Jaxus merely sighed at her comment. He couldn't help it if the call of adventure and wanderlust kept him away from the bar, that was just who he was. "Anyway, Deid has, er..." Jaxus took yet another solemn breath, realizing they were now gone. "...Deid had a wife and a kid, and ta' be honest, he was talkin' lot' bout his job lately, seemed like thin's were goin' really well. Didn' really get too involved in the nightlife that much, seemed like he always just wanted a good drink and a good chat...Though...come ta' think of it...He "may" have been chattin' with afew people last night bit' away from the bar stools, oddly..." Jaxus eyes directed upwards, a minor scowl on his face, realizing he could help so little with the details. "Iris, was it?~ I'm tryna' think'of what I can, but ta' be honest, it's hard ta' remember so much when yer' the waiter, bartender, cook, and janitor at once ya' know.~" Which, was a fair point, as many would complain if Persies handled their food or drinks. The guy’s name was Jaxus Morbane, it was a name that she’ll have to remember later, possibly and the birds name was Persies, which wasn’t as relevant, but she’ll probably keep its name as Polly… Or maybe Feather Duster. Keeping notes and tabs on what Jaxus had mentioned a bit of his origin’s, “Snap Dragon Creek, that explains the accent." Although, some new info had been revealed about the victim, which was at least an improvement on the case. The fact he had a family was a good start with a factor gaining more personal Intel, on top of that, a change in behavior was also a keen noticeable. “It seems that Deid wasn’t much of a social bird around here when it came to other patrons. Which then sparks an interesting question, why hold a private meeting? Iris needs more answers to her current questions. Jaxus, are you able to describe to me what Mr. Mann’s line of work was? And even vaguely detail what these other guy’s look like if possible? Any other help could be beneficial to the case. Also, any idea where I could find out where he lived.” She listened to Jaxus give what answers he give her, writing down what details were given, anything was better than what she has now. After the bombardment of questions and information, the Dirty Blonde Knight walks into the bar, scanning the all but four people in the room and pin points Iris. "Hey, we need you back at the scene.” He growls in discontent. “Looks like Iris is needed, you send Polly there if you have any other info to share.” She turns to the Knight and heads towards the knight, “You still missed a spot.” Iris says, the knight scowls and follows suit. It was stating to breach into the evening now, and the streets were cleared of most of the foot traffic, silence stood between the knight and Iris, after some considerable amount of observation of the knight, she could tell that he was tiered and ran down, looking like he had a long day of work, which was understandable. Iris felt a little uneasy and exhausted as well, but that’s something that can’t stop her and what she does. Arriving back at the crime scene, just about everyone had left the site, nothing but the Sargent conversing with some of the forensics team. The knight steps over the tape and Iris slides under it. “I brought her Sarge.” He says, standing tall but not at all valiant. “Very good, you are dismissed, go back the barracks and rest up Cadet. The knight nods and walks off. The Sargent turns to Iris. “What of your findings?” Iris hands her note pad and Sarge looks over it. “Alright, there’s some good stuff here, nice work. Feel free to investigate on your own accord, any new Info must come back to me. You now have access to the building and here some statements from some of the residents.” “Iris will do just that Sir and Iris thanks you.” She gives of a salute as Sarge walks out with the forensics team. “It was now time for Iris to continue her work.” The building it’s self was made of brick, and look rather cheap, it was a series of small apartments that you would pretty much expect relationship status single people and a few nosey elderly people would live, perfect for whatever gossip that floats around. Iris reads what the case notes say and there isn’t much to go off, although Deid Mann had a cheap apartment on the top floor, recently rented as well. So why would a married Mann have a private apartment? Looks like something to ask the wife later. There wasn’t much point to really ask around the building, not much would really help in this case. So she headed straight to the top floor and too his apartment. The apartments door was closed, and locked, but the case file contained the key to it. The door had the same “Crime Scene” tape on it. The apartment it’s self was quite clean, nothing was really touched, the bed had been slept in and a few bits of rubbish had been littered on the coffee table. The room was small, it looks like the apartment its self only consisted of two rooms. The Kitchen, bed and living space were all in one room, there was a single closed window above the bed and that’s it, but there the fire escape outside of it. The other room was a bathroom that only had a toilet, a sink and shower. The place could have easily been a replica motel room, and probably would cheaper if it was. Iris opens the window above the bed and steps out onto the fire escape, this clearly wasn’t where the body was found, since this side of the wall only looked at the wall of the neighboring building. “This means the victim had to fall from the roof.” So, she follows the fire escape upwards to the roof. The roof it’s self was flat, made of cement and was empty, other than air con vents and TV antenna’s. Nothing looked out of place. She walks along the wall until she finds the crime scene, and looks down. Judging by the blood marking, which wasn’t straight down, but a few feet away from the building, looks like that he was pushed. This was a murder case. |

Jaxus only rolled his eyes at the comment on Snap-Dragon Creek. While the earlier compliment was nice, he kind of disliked being associated which such a boring, lack luster place known for it's laziness. Still, he had continued with his story without bothering to mention it. After all, he already knew he had distinguished himself from the lazy, good for nothings there, in the sense he lived life actively and took on a hard working career. Well..."Nomad" wasn't really a job, but he was a part time bar manager, sometimes helped the guild with missions, and helps people in need in his travels. Still a tough job, but beside the point.~ After his explanation was said and done, Iris brought to mind afew interesting points, mainly why he broke out of his usual pattern of sticking to the bar stools to make the little conversation he did. Recollecting what happened through a muddled, drunken memory as each question was passed by Iris, Jaxus' eyes tilted upwards, bringing his index finger to cross over his chin, mouth agape as he tried to recollect all he could about Deid, and that specific night. "Well, he was kinda' vague bout' his job ta' be honest, seemed like he was in a business or somethin'. Talked bout' sales sometimes, even said he was makin' a good deal last night...Never talked bout' where'he lives though." The more and more Jaxus thought about it, the circumstances and timing became more and more suspicious. "As fer' the other two, one had short blue hair, had'a scar on his left cheek, twenties maybe? Other was taller, hair was'bit longer, shiny blonde like, rounda' same as I think. I was jugglin' cookin' an' bartendin' at the time, didn't get a very good look at em, sorry I can't be'of more help." Though as Jaxus finished, a knight with dirty blonde hair walked into the bar, noting Iris that she needed to return to the scene of the crime. "Aye, aye, got'cha.~ I'll let'cha know.~" Waving Iris off, Jaxus took a deep breath as she left, attempting to wrap his head around so much information at once. "Wait..." Looking outside the door, then left to right, then to Persies, Jaxus realized something vital. "He had no idea where the crime scene was." "Ugh, well, we'll figure it out, ey Persies...?" "Ca-Caaw.~" //Aye.~// Looking down to the counter, Jaxus stared in an empty minded fashion for a moment, blinking in confusion. "...GAAAHH! SHE DIDN'T EVEN PAY! HOW'AM'I GONNA' KEEP THE BAR OPEN LIKE THIS!?" "CA-CAAAW-CAAAW-CAA-CAAW-CAAAW! //Maybe if you opened it more, you wouldn't need to worry!// -Sometime later in the evening.- Jaxus once again, elbows laid down on the counter, rested his cheek upon his open palm, bored to near tears as he watched the very few patrons of the bar drink, occasionally making an order. He had thought some time away from adventure and combat after the war would help him, yet, he only felt more dull than ever with this kind of work. No excitement, no surprises, no challenge, just...serving drinks. Sure it was fun to talk to people and socialize, but he could only go on so long doing this kind of stuff. Interrupting Jaxus' thoughts, he noted a somewhat familiar, tall cloaked figure with a scar running down their left eye in a jagged formation, covered mostly within a hooded cloak, prompting Jaxus to raise his eyebrow in response as they took a seat at the bar. "Not often the bar is open these days, what's the occasion squirt?" Jaxus groaned in response, rolling his eyes and grabbing walking over to the nearby counter, grabbing the drink he knew his customer intended to buy, taking off the cap and placing it upon and counter before sliding it across to them. "Cut the crap Shade, ya' can probably guess why I'm here." "Oh, I'm sure, things must of been rough after the war, even the knights are short handed..." The cloaked man, only known as "shade" lightly brushed off their finger nails on their coat, as if flaunting their connections knowing of Jaxus' presence there, before placing down the payment for the drink and taking it up for a sip. Though despicable as they were, their money was good, they never started a fight in the bar, and if anything, they seemed more neutral than anything. To Jaxus' knowledge, they only worked as an information broker, but never dabbled in much nefarious activities themselves, and as such, Jaxus tolerated their presence in the bar on the rare occasions they met. "Well, as long as yer'ere, maybe ya' can tell me bout' what's goin' on with the knights, and Deid." "Ohoh.~ You heard about that, huh squirt? You know, I'd love to help, but my memory just quite isn't recalling anything..." Jaxus merely looked over to Persies, then directed his eyes to Shade, before shaking his head. He knew what this guy was about already. Sighing, he took another bottle of the man's favorite brew, and slid it across to him. "How bout' now...?" Shade brought one hand to their chin, gently stroking it as they lifted their head, slightly revealing light, oak brown colored hair. "Hmmm...I'm starting to get a flash of memory, actually..." Jaxus sighed louder, this time accompanied alongside Persies as Jaxus grabbed two more of their favorite beers, sliding them down the counter to the man. "We're talkin' bout the life of one'a the regulars here. Final offer." Jaxus glared down Shade with solid determination, to which, they only broke out into an amused laughter. "Ooooh, you became quite scary after the war, huh?~ Alright then, fair, here's what I know squirt..." -Abit later in the night- "Alright everybody, bar's closin' in thirty minutes! I want everyon' cleared out by then, but ta' thank ya' fer' yer' loyalty, feel free ta' sign that paper on the bar and you'll get'a discount next time ya' come'ere.~" Making sure to note the bar was closing and rush people out as soon as he could, Jaxus turned to Persies with a nod and a smile. One by one, what few customers remained were sent off out of the bar, though, not before Jaxus slipped them a voucher good for an additional discount next time due to offering more info than Jaxus thought he held initially. He hadn't learned much, but he learned enough, including where Deid died, and shadowy talk of fowl play in the streets in Poinsettia's more seedy crowds. Shutting the bar doors and putting the few bolts into place, Jaxus nodded to Persies with a smile before heading upstairs. Meeting Iris earlier had sparked something in Jaxus. After the war, he had felt so different and unsure, heck, he had kind of become more jaded, even abit more serious. But the passion and enthusiasm Iris had for her work, and what seemed to be general enjoyment, even fun in her work awakened old feelings Jaxus held before, at the start of his journey. In fact, it was the reason he joined "Beast Inc" shortly after joining Blue Pegasus. Though his constant, long journeys and nomadic ways, Jaxus never quite took up a chance to don his superhero costume, as it was always stored at the bar. But now on a brief vacation, and with talk of crime of the streets, and the knights being short handed...maybe it was time. Who knew, maybe he could have some fun with it and get out of the funk he was in. As he reached the upstairs bedroom, Jaxus swiftly went towards the closest, opening it up and revealing an unopened package, seemingly pristine from the day it arrived, other than the thick layer of dust. Taking the box with two hands, Jaxus inhaled deeply before blowing it away, sending a thick cloud into the air. "Ack-Ack-Agh!" "Ca-Caa-Caaw!" "Geez! Guess'I do travel lot', huh Persies?" "Ca-Caaw-Ca-Caaw-Caw..." //Let's just hope the costumes aren't diseased now...// "We'll be fine Persies.~ Sides, no germ ever punched me harder than'a golem.~" "Ca-Caaw-Caaw-Ca-Caaw..." //You're still too carefree, Jaxus...// -Shortly afterwards...- Standing upon the roof of Jason's Bar, Jaxus now donned the costume of "Captain Sunshine," and beside him, perched upon the corner of the building was Persies, donning a red cape with a bright red, bandana styled mask wrapped around her head and eyes, with eye slots to not blind the poor bird of course. "Ca-Caaw-Ca-Caw-Caaw..." //Why are we even doing this...?// "Cuz, it's fun, and ta'be honest Persies, iunno if the knights would'a'preciate us gettin' in'ta their buisness, ya' know?~" "Ca-Caaw-Caw-Ca-Caaw..." //Fine, fine...Let's just go...// "Yep.~" As Persies fluttered up to land on Jaxus' shoulder, he pulled the mask of the outfit over his mouth, re-affirming the helmet into place before sprinting head long right as Persies landed on his shoulder. Leaping clean off the roof, Jaxus landed on a nearby, lower rooftop, rolling with the force below quickly finding themselves back on their feet and rushing on, straight in a bee line towards the crime scene that Shade gave him directions to. Get Chance and Luck!!

The time was now, thanks to the power of magic, Iris's spell pool was great for those times of investigative needs. Two options laid ahead of her: 1. Scan the roof and room for evidence. 2. See if she could track a magic trail, if magic was involved. Option number A was probably the best thing to do since any little bit evidence could be left behind and looked over, not that the Knights couldn't do their jobs, but, something could be easily missed. Iris never ended up with the case notes, which was a shame, nothing ever came easy for Iris from the knights, but she was damn useful to them. The best thing that she can do if probably compile evidence, well, if she doesn’t touch anything and that’s easier done as said for here, in her mind: Touching are for Scrubs. First off, she stands on top on the roof, analysing her surroundings, again, not much here and nothing out of order, but nothing ever what seems. There could be a chance that something could pop up, something that could detail a killer. Iris closes her eyes and channels her magical energy, opening her eyes, everything show’s a pale green glow with a crosshair, something following the similarities of the open eye that show’s if you’re visible while being stealthy from the Elder Scrolls games, that follows the movement direction of her pupils. The exterior shoe’s 3 shades of green. Her pupils scatter across the roof top, scanning the surroundings, to her sight, the rooftop edges shine brightly, displaying the area’s boundaries, as the crosshair scans over the surface, generally silent, but every time something picks up, she lets out a little “Ping”, because why not? It was at least fun and amusing. None the less, outlines on footprints lit up all over the roof top, some fainter than others, the brighter the marks the more recent they are, unless they’re Iris’s, the they don’t appear at all. Each print if different, well, other than the one’s that the Knights leave being all very similar, easy enough too rule out of course. Anything faint was also ruled out, since they were old tracks in which that eliminated a lot. There were some odd pick up’s as well, like a few drops of urines near one of the edges that went down of one of the streets, some butt prints, a few hand prints and a few fluids, (in which Iris let out a shutter with a little “Eeewww”) and a few cigarette buds that were discarded, but old enough not warrant proper evidence. Iris started tracking Deid’s prints, starting from the point where he allegedly “fell”, or in her eye’s… heh… murdered without signs of evidence. Although, one thing that stood out to her, or lack thereof, there was no other signs of another person up here, no prints that stood out that followed Deid’s tracks. So what, he was murdered by a ghost? Curiouser and Curiouser. Next step was for Iris to head back down to the apartment and scope things out there. Still, nothing unusual, no signs of foul play or anything, it was too clean to even be a crime scene. Nothing is this clean, something was up and no one knew what it was. No busted lock, nothing rummaged though, hell not even any dirty dishes. He didn’t run either, so he was brought up to the roof without resistance, which show’s he didn’t really have magic access, that Iris knew of anyway. The case it’s self was getting weirder, but nothing can’t be unsolvable. Iris’s eye’s couldn’t pick up anything else around the apartment and so she deactivates them, her vision returning to normal. Next she could potentially track some magic remnants, but it maybe too late to really pick up anything and it’s possible that any items that the knights used could interfere with the signature, then again it could give her some more answers than questions, so she headed back up to the roof to continue her next line investigation. After all, the facts do potentially show signs of foul play caused by magic. |

I don't even know.

Leaping from roof to roof in a moderate sprint, kicking up the pace whenever he needed to jump a larger distance, Jaxus, or rather, now "Captain Sunshine" in his costume, charged onwards to find answers about Deid. "Almost there Pe-Er, Warhawk!" "Caw-Caw..." //Aye Sir...// Obviously, Persies was less than enthused to be taking part in Jaxus' wildly impulsive antics. "Come'on Buddy, don't be like that! It's spoused' ta' be fun!" "Ca-Caaw-Ca-Caw-Caa-Caaw-Caw-Caw...?" //Jaxus, someone died last night, someone who visited you're bar. How are you so casual about all this...?// "Thanks fer' remindin' me pal, but I already know that. Being mopey won't bring'em back though, harder ta' focus like that as well. We'll get Deid justice, that's the important thing." Persies blinked at Jaxus' words, as it was one of those rare times where the simple farm boy showed a deal of wisdom. The two weren't just partners in title, every sight, every thought, every emotion, they shared. As Jaxus spoke, Persies felt the heavy pain in his heart, but yet, Jaxus only encouraged optimism, noting being caught up in the negative could decrease how well they worked. He hadn't detached himself, nor was it he didn't care, but simply, he was forcing himself to focus on what mattered. "Ca-Caaw.~ Ca-Caw-Caaw..~" //Aye Sir. I'll try it out.~// "That'sa spirit!~" Rubbing Persies head mid run, a smile underneath his mask, Jaxus could only laugh. "Sides, what's Captain Sunshine without a Warhawk by their side?~ We're'a team!~" //A-Aye Sir!// Persies nodded enthusiastically, Jaxus having successfully brought their mood up, and hopefully having convinced their deal partner to try being abit more enthusiastic about their "hero" personas. "O-Oh, crap!" "Ca-Caw?" //What?// "I totally fergot ta' practice a hero voice!" "...Caaw?" //...What?// "Superhero's need a secret identity! I'll be found out like this! Uh...!" Taking another leap from one building to another, Persies sighed, she already knew what was coming next. "Captain Sunshi...! ...No, that doesn't work." First try he tried a rough, growly voice, which ended up over exaggerated to some batman-esqe levels. "Captain Sunshine ta' sa-...Ugh..." Then an english styled accent, which sounded alot less cool then he imagined, wracking his brain on a good hero voice. "Captain Sunshine!" Leaping off of another building, Jaxus attempted a just slightly raise his voice pitch with a dramatic zeal in the tone. "Here to save the da-AAAAAAYYY! WATCH OUT!" "Ca-Caw-Caw!" //You idiot!// Yet, distracted by his attempt to formulate a voice for his alter ego, Jaxus had not noticed Iris walk out to the rooftops, which had been clear just moments before, sending himself on a direct crash course towards her! With quick thinking, |
