I don't even know.

As Dmitry addressed Ueru, he slowly woke from his daze, rising back into the air and shaking wildly as Fina's sour, neutral expression became more recognizable as a minor scowl. She felt like Dmitry ignored her, addressing their return statement to Ueru instead of her. As Ueru finished shaking himself awake, they looked to Dmitry with an angry expression, their eyes shifting into an angry expression, a cold feeling extending out from their body. How "dare" they trick him! "The Great Ueru-Sama!" To trick him into thinking it was ghosts of the dead around him, the audacity! Though, before Ueru hit his breaking point and attacked, Dmitry mentioned that not many beings were capable of what he could do, and they never met one before, Ueru's body swelling with pride, a smug, arrogant smile crossing his toothy maw. "Bwahahahah! Of course! I'm the "Great Ueru-Sama!" The one and only! "King of ghosts!" You should be humbled to meet me, mortal!" "Oh, for the love of god, let it "go" Ueru. You arn't nearly as powerful as you were, just, accept it already, geez..." Fina could only let out another long sigh, shaking her head with a neutral expression ever so slowly with closed eyes. It hadn't even been three months and she was already tired of hearing Ueru flaunt their ego, even if they were powerful in the past. Luckily, a distraction occured as Fina opened her eyes, noting a Dmitry holding out their hand, glowing with a dim, silver glow along with their eyes, his irises becoming pitch black. As they spoke with a sage like tone, as if a teacher, Fina' had the first bit of real emotion revealed, eyes widening in surprise ever so slightly as spectral orbs appeared in Dmitry's palm. As they explained the spirits they were talking of, Fina listened carefully, staring at them, without blinking or turning away for their reply, listening carefully to retain the information. Their knowledge and talents interested her to say the least, and if it elicited interest from Fina, that meant alot. "Bah, bunches of mumbo jumbo! I just need to find the right way to eat'em!" "I think he's right, Ueru...Think about it, when has there been a "ghost" you "couldn't" eat? He's talking about something neither of us could comprehend in nature." "True. I guess..." Ueru only quieted down in response, Fina's razor sharp logic cutting him down a notch. Fina didn't understand it, but Dmitry's explanation made sense, even more so after what occurred, though the way he kept a casual, laid back attitude, then changing to more serious tone did make Fina curious. They were a strange one, to say the least. Before she could continue however, Dmitry's eyes went back to normal, the glow of his magic disappearing before her plate of food was delivered swiftly by the waitress, Fina giving a minor nod towards them. "Thank you." Though the waitress didn't get her order the first time, they were at least quick, which Fina was grateful for. As the waitress walked away, Fina noticed the size of the Onigiri were much larger than the usual places she visited, causing her eyes to brighten up, a very, very small smile "barely" visible on her face. "Anyway, you're probably right. Honestly, neither my family, Ueru, nor I have any clue where Ueru came from, how he functions, or where he was even sealed. He's an enigma." Taking a small sip of her tea, cringing slightly as it was abit hotter than she expected, she let out a light sigh. "Anyway, you're pretty odd, but I can't really say that in a justified manner either. My name's Fina." "You mean "Serafina!" Bwahahaha-" "UERU, I SWEAR TO GOD!" Shoving her sealing tag afew inches from Ueru's face was just enough to cut his laugh short, causing him to back up with a scowl. "Fine, fine!" As Ueru backed out of arms length, he remained silent for a moment, realizing Fina would use that cursed tag at any moment if he didn't give her room. That name was just a reminder of her family's expectations, what was expected of her. She "hated" it. She never asked to be born into a family of spirit specialists, or to be bound with Ueru, but she still was. Such a classy, formal name for some reason, always hit a hot wire with her. "Anyway...you're kind of knowledgeable, I'm surprised to meet someone else who deals with this stuff, even if it's in a different field...By the way, you realize if you wanted meat, you should have just asked for steak, right?" Yet another blunt, straight comment as she pointed to Dmitry's burger, but Dmitry's awkward method of ordering food didn't escape Fina's perception, all the while eyeing their fries for a split moment. But alas, she had Onigiri. Even if she had the social confidence to ask for a fry, it was probably better for her health not to due to the starch content of both fries and rice. Taking up one of her large Ume Onigiri, Fina raised it up to take a small bite, and for the first time, she showed true emotion, smiling as she enjoyed the food. She didn't know why, but for some reason, Ume Onigiri always raised her mood. Though it probably had little meaning to Dmitry, this was a very rare moment where Fina seemed happy and content. Not having the social observance to give his name when someone else gave there's, Dmitry simply poked the burger in front of him. Eventually, after confirming that it was in fact food, he picked it up and took a bite, quickly taking more as the flavor set in and before long, the burger had vanished. Completely missing Fina's glance towards his fries, he stared at them himself for a while, not at all certain what to make of them. However, in a passing moment, he took a quick, meaningless glance at the girl across from him. As he did so, he caught a glimpse of what appeared to be sublime joy on the her features. He couldn't understand why, but he found himself looking at her a bit longer than he intended, before turning his attention back to the strange potato machination on his plate. "So...How much do you know about ghosts? Aside from this fella o'course." He asked. Part of him was curious about how much she knew about her charge's prey, but he mostly saw a potential opportunity to learn more about them himself. Dmitry often felt that his knowledge regarding ghosts, shades, and poltergeists was rather small, despite it being quite greater than the average civilian. Spirits had always been his stock and trade, so he had never found the time to learn about the formerly living. |

Fina had neither noticed Dimitry staring at his fried at first, nor the passing glimpse of the heterochromic man observing her while she enjoyed her Onigiri. Eyes closed with a small, but visible smile, Fina contently took small, repeated bites with the occasional wasabi, enjoying the meal after her long trip. All the while, Ueru stared in a bored fashion outside the window. With the earlier jive he made, even he was wise enough to bother Fina when she was having a moment of actual rest. Taking a light sigh and placing the barely eaten Onigiri down on her plate, Fina took a light sip of her tea before taking a spoon from the table, scooping up the smallest amount of wasabi from her plate and placing it upon the riceball before looking back to Dimitry, noticing him staring towards his uneaten fries. Immediately, this raised the question of why he hadn't touched them, everyone love fries, right? Before she could touch upon the subject, Dmitry spoke up asking how much she knew about ghosts, which surprised her, and immediately soured her mood at the same time, Fina's previously serene, even content expression falling flat into the previous, scowl like expression she held before, for a multitude of reasons. He hadn't really responded to many of her questions for one, but this wasn't really a "bad" thing either, if anything, it was actually kind of nice, considering the loudmouth she had to put up with daily. "You're aware it's common courtesy to introduce yourself when someone tells you their name, right?" In a tone that was neither angry, or annoyed, Fina bluntly put that out in the open before taking another small sip of her tea. "Anyway, I'd rather not talk about it too much while I'm eating, but I know enough. My family's specialized in ghosts for a long time. It would probably save us both alot of trouble if you asked something more specific." Speaking with a calm clarity, Fina took another sip of her tea, taking a deep, relaxing breath, this meal the first time she's been able to truly relax for at least a week, such was the quality of the food. "The biggest thing though, that you're probably already aware of, is that there are many reasons for ghosts to appear. Most of the time though, they exist because they have something from their life holding them back from passing on." Gently picking up her Onigiri once more, Fina took a small bite of the end with the wasabi, breaking into the purple, pickled plum filling at the center. Luckily for both Ueru and Dmitry, Ume Onigiri's reduced her grumpiness greatly, and even while annoyed, she could keep her usual sense of cool when eating a good batch of them. Letting out a minor exhale with closed eyes, enjoying the herbal, complex spice and the combination of flavors with the "smallest," yet contented smile on her face, looking towards Dmitry before her expression became calm and level, similar to her tone. "And what about you? I've never seen spirits like the ones you have been talking about. I'm kind of curious regarding where you learned about them." Edited by SilverRush, Feb 11 2017, 10:14 AM.

Dmitry put his fry down and cocked his head as his courtesy was called into question. "Really?" He asked, as though this were some rarely known fact. Of course, he still didn't think to give her his name. As his source was mentioned, a distant look befell him. He closed his eyes and once again spoke as his teacher would, a fitting choice whether he knew it or not. "As there are spirits of nature and those spirits compose nature, so too are there beings derived from that connection. These are what humans call 'deities', and they come from the mass gathering of nature spirits over billions of years." He opened his eyes and looked out the window, a nostalgic and solemn look on his face. "One of those deities found me, a long time ago. She taught me what I know now, taught me to how survive..." As he said this, he noticed his employers passing by, making him realize how long he had been sitting there. "Well, I gotta get goin'." The medium said, standing up and leaving the restaurant behind him, one of the caravan guards jumping as they suddenly noticed him among the group. Edited by Dmitry, Mar 5 2017, 05:24 PM.

As Dmitry responded to her comment about introductions, Fina's expression remained blank and bored, like always, had only given slightest turn of her head, attempting to discern if they were being sarcastic or actually serious. Throughout her entire explanation however, she hadn't found enough information too make a decision. Before long, however, Dmitry went on to answer her question based on where he learned to sense such strange forms of spirits. Though his explanation was baffling to say the least, especially as Fina never quite believed in Deities in the first place. Though, there was obviously something present that made Ueru sick, and Dmitry could see them, that was enough to at least be a curiosity to her. Though, as they went on to continue that one of those "deities" taught him what he knew, a small expression crossed her face, scowling slightly as she stated at him, attempting to find signs of deceit. As Dmitry looked out the window, Fina turned to Ueru who was lazing about, looking out the window as well, presumably hoping for a wandering ghost to wander by. //Zero help, like always.// Though, as she mulled to herself over the information, considering his story and how credible he was based on his behavor, Dmitry abruptly got up and left out of nowhere, her gaze slowly following him walk out in confusion, before taking a deep, long breath. At least she could be left to her own thoughts now, and it was interesting data at the very least, considering her family's profession as "Spirit Specialists." "Hm?" Taking note of Dmitry's table, and finding afew spare fries left, she also found something more troubling. A lack of funds to pay for his meal! "T-That's guy!" "Bwahahahahah! He ditched you with the bill, that's hilariou-" SMACK! "AUGHGH!" Fina got up out of her chair immediately, slapping a tag against Ueru and sending him crashing into the floors below. Looking out the window, she found Dmitry and his band of merchants were out of sight. Taking a deep breath, she couldn't really chase up after them without paying herself. Bringing her hand to her head, rubbing her temples, Fina took a sharp breath, attempting to think of the most logical response. In the end, she got abit of her funds from pick pocketing others, which wasn't much different nor better than ditching someone with the bill of a meal. Taking a seat and taking a deep breath, Fina just decided to enjoy her meal. |
