Well, her answer had been a bit simplistic, but did propose a few possibilities. She had said "Us", so that implied more. She was a scout, and had a home. At a guess, there was a large number of vampires somewhere, and she had left them to see the world. He had heard whispers about such creatures, but this was far more useful information. First-hand info was far more delicious than second or even third-hand. Tapping his fingers together, he nodded. "Ah, I see. Yes, the world is a big place, and trust me..." He chuckled. "In my experience, there's always someone who knows more. Would be quite disappointing if there wasn't." After all, Lost Magic wasn't much use if nobody could cast it. Secrets weren't interesting if those who carried them took them to their graves. At her question, he waved at the floating window he created. "Archive Magic... how to put this." Looking up for a moment, he frowned, considering. "Ah yes, okay. So, imagine if you would that a certain type of magic, all that information, is a bookshelf. Different spells are different books, yes?" He mimed slightly, outlining a shelf and placing books upon it. Gesturing then to himself, he smiled. "If that is the case, then Archive Mages are a library. One you must build yourself, unfortunately, but even so, I find it a fascinating skill." Spreading his hands, he began flicking through the various notes and data he had saved, showing how the windows displayed information, before sweeping a hand and dismissing them all. "My magic allows me to analyse any magic equal to or weaker than my own, and even copy and reproduce it, in many cases. Can't do transformations or inherent skills, unfortunately. Would be quite interesting to see what it felt like to be a Vampire for a bit." It was a bit rare Learme went this long without being actively sarcastic or snarky, but something as fascinating as a vampire fell under the qualifications to be serious. Besides, Archive Magic was something people could find out about easily enough, and if he wanted info, he would have to give some, yes? "Right then. What does being a vampire mean for you, magically speaking? Can you do magic?" |

As each new window and object filled the air her eyes widened. A bit more of that child-like delight in new discoveries had come back with each word he spoke. Before long she was actively reaching out, as if to touch it only to withdraw her hand. When it was over and the question presented to her she had to regain her senses. "Personally, not much. I'm fairly young and haven't practiced nearly enough. Back home there are people that can do some amazing things. Some of them delve so deeply into the Celestial's gift that they've practically mastered life and death itself. The elder is rumored to have survived since the titans fall." She took another drink before continuing. "From stories I suppose we're not much different from you. We just get out "spells" a different way." She lost herself in thought for a brief moment before snapping back. "Anyway, my turn. You know what I am and haven't run. I suppose the question is what exactly are you?" |

From her tentative pokes, it seemed the girl was quite fascinated by his magic. It was a bit adorable, honestly. He almost felt bad removing it, but the windows were making it hard to see. Not much, hmm? Bit of a shame, he would have been interested to see. It sounded as though her magic was more intrinsic than outward, though. Still, damn fascinating. "Celestial's Gift, hmm? I need to visit your family at some point." He grinned, but it seemed a bit shaky, as if something was bothering him. Mastering life and death, surviving for ages... he had to find a way to get his hands on that. Opening a window, he carefully entered a new addition to a list. Life Magic, Regeneration Magic, Time Magic... and now Vampiric magic. It seemed almost appropriate she asked what he was just after. Well, she had answered... and there was nobody else around. Besides, compared to "Demon", it wasn't that shocking, was it? "The Brain Eater project. An experiment to make artificial Archive Mages, who could be prepped with specific magic sets and used for various purposes, including acquiring information and possibly even sleeper agents who could steal rare spells. I am the Thirteenth and final test subject." Reaching to his sweater, he pulled it up, revealing a rather lean chest, and over his heart, an XIII series of Roman Numerals. "I was created artificially. Grown through magic, then given Archive and raised in a lab." Pulling it back down, he smirked, seeming a bit vindictive. "Not that I serve the whims of those who created me. They're long gone now." So lost in thought was he, he didn't notice that he hadn't actually asked another question. |

She sat in silence for a moment as he spoke, taking it in with an intense stare. The girl knew nothing about sleeper agents or archive magics, but she did know what it meant to be an agent. They had been used back home for specialists missions. However, none that she knew were entirely artificial. Just people turned when they were about to die and given a job. "Gotta say I can't imagine what that must feel like. I'm widely considered a monster but I get by cause a girl's gotta eat. I also had a choice in this so that helps. You. . . I'm sorry man but that fucking sucks." Minou spoke as if talking to a friend. Any hint of apprehension was gone from her voice and her posture was much more relaxed. He had told his story, and made himself "human" to her. Now, she sat cross legged and hands on her knees. |

Chuckling slightly, Learme wiped his face. "It's my life, one way or another, but... thank you. I haven't actually told anyone that before, but well, I figured you weren't exactly the sort to go blabbing." He wasn't exactly sure how he had let that spill out, but well. If anyone was going to keep that secret, it'd be a vampire. Come to think of it, it sounded like the turning myth was at least somewhat factual. Interesting. "Oh, right, I suppose it's my turn now." He had a few questions now, but decided to prioritize. She had hinted at a lot of things in her comments, but one stuck out in particular. "Who, or what, is the Celestial? I assume you don't mean the Celestial Spirits, those seem rather different." He didn't know a lot about Celestial Spirit mages. Summoning was a bit useless to him, after all. Still, trying to investigate the spirit's magic itself could be useful. Notes for later. |

"Well shit. Minou looked at the guy with a look of annoyed acceptance. He had brought up a long subject. "Get comfortable. This is a long story." She pulled the small pendant from beneath her clothing and held it up as she began. "The Celestial is what we call the guardian of my home. He's basically a legend at this point. One that the elder insists is true but we can't prove it. My job was to look in the catacombs beneath the manor to see if I could find anything to confirm or deny it." As she spoke she lost focus on the demon-man and seemed to grow more distant, losing herself in memories. "He's supposed to be this great serpent who flew through the heavens around out lands. His scales were radiant and gold as if a sun to compete with the real one. While he was around the people were protected and could count on decent harvests. Stories say he's able to manipulate the land and skies at will." She held the pendant in front of her face, looking into the crimson gem. "Like all stories go when someone has a good thing going someone has to come in and fuck it up. A demon wanted the lands for no other reason than to have it. The Celestial protected us and their fighting is rumored to have torn the skies with lightning and send waves twenty meters high against the shores. After a while the fighting slowed. Eventually they stopped all together and a plague spread across the land. Food didn't taste right and people began to rot. The sun boiled their blood. When The Celestial saw this he was terrified and used everything he could to absorb the worst of it himself. He then turned on the demon and grabbed him, taking them both beneath the land and creating a tomb for them. As he dove he created the constant night that kept them alive." She stared into the pendant now, completely lost in her thoughts of those huge iron doors. |

Listening with rapt attention, Learme could only nod as he mentally recorded this, updating his files on the girl before him. He thought his origin story was odd, but this was certainly something else. It made a certain amount of sense, too. "Well, that at least explains some of the symptoms. Demons seem to be responsible for a lot of things like that." According to books, anyway. In his experience, he had very little actual experience. Leaning back, he cocked his head. "Well, that explains a lot. Have you tried finding magic to block sunlight? I don't know any just off the top of my head, but perhaps Shadow Body or something that shields your skin?" He was starting to theorize, then paused. "Oh, I'm sorry. It's your turn, isn't it? Did you have another question off the top of your head?" Shrugging, he spread his hands. "Please, ask away." |

Minou had to snap back to her senses again. "Nope, I haven't. So far a good cloak and picking when and where to move have done alright for me." She took another swig of her drink. "Besides, I'd have to find someone to teach me in order to learn. Most people who figure out my special needs kinda don't like the idea of being too close to me." After a moment's pause she looked the guy over. He'd already explained his history and his magic. All that was left is where he was going now. "I do have a question actually, where are ya heading now? Seems you have a more difficult time fitting in than I do and if you're looking for magic then I'd imagine its fairly difficult to come by." |

Learme shrugged. "Well, if I manage to track down such a magic, I'll see if I can't get you some help there." Closing his eyes and widening his grin for a moment, he opened a window. "Archive Magic. It's pretty fantastic. Not sure if you can learn it, but maybe an item of some kind? Would think it's fairly simple, if you have the puzzle pieces." He'd probably need to find someone skilled in making magic items, honestly. Blinking, he looked over. "Difficult time fitting in? Whatever could you mean? I fit in just fine." Whether this was true or not, the young being certainly believed it was. Although, this did bring up a good point. "As for where I'm going... Well. I think I might join a guild, actually. If nothing else, it should be interesting, and it beats wandering aimlessly. A better route towards more magic, as well." He shrugged, looking happy for a moment as he fantasised about all the possible magic he might encounter. Snapping back to reality, he looked back at the vampiric young woman. "Hmm, well then, I suppose I'd ask what you're doing. From what you said, I'd take it most of the more..." he made air quotes. "Good" Guilds won't have you?" |

She looked into the trees, staring beyond them. "Naw, a few of them have even made it a point to run me off. Something about killing civilians being forbidden no matter the reason. Had a run in that nearly ended with a sword in my gut too." She rubbed her stomach passively. "My ultimate goal is to head back home knowing more than I could learn there. With limited resources I'm at a bit of a loss though." She finished her drink and returned her golden eyes to the man before her, a slight grin showing a fang. "If you know of anywhere that wouldn't mind giving a girl like me work, a roof, and privacy along with not caring who goes missing I'd be there in a heartbeat. Otherwise I'm drifting from place to place, looking where I can before having to hit the road again." |
