The Slumbering One

Moving through the bustling streets of Poinsetta, the cheerfully grinning Learme was humming to himself, head bouncing back and forth as his eyes flickered around rapidly, taking in the sights. The day was sunny, the crowds seemed happy enough, and he was seeing so many interesting things. So far, he had noticed a mage guild, found a new book, noticed someone's house getting robbed, and managed to get some food. He paged through the book, enjoying the magical guide quite a bit. He wondered when the law enforcement would notice that robbery. Thankfully, he hadn't been forced to steal anything yet. It was quite nice of the researchers who created him to schedule the delivery of materials for a few days AFTER when his termination was scheduled. There had been all these lovely Jewels sitting around, which he had... Hmm. After mulling over the conundrum for a bit, he settled on "Appropriated." He had then appropriated some parts of machinery, left things to overload, and let the entire place blow up. That was fun. Still, he didn't really have that much money, in the long run. Not enough to feed himself, not forever. Perhaps he should start looking for some other mages. There was guilds, but the ones he was aware of, Blue Pegasus, Fairy Tail, and Lamia Scale? No, not his sort of thing. Sighing, he looked upwards for a moment, a momentary frown crossing his face. He'd need some kind of in, as well. What were the odds of him just running into another mage, anyway? |

Titania desired knowledge. From her ears honing in on the language of others, she had heard the whispers about the town. The arcane bond was weak, and she needed to strengthen it. Perhaps there were more magicians who had once resided on the banks of the Arcane river, she desperately wanted to meet with them. Being this powerless, was very draining emotionally because at one time she was practically able to do anything desired. Now, at most, all she possessed the ability to accomplish was nothing more than a few shimmers and globs of magic. Poinsettia was absolutely stunning in its beauty, with towering spires and a foreign style of architecture that almost seemed overbearing in design. This town was home to a guild, Blue Pegasus, who would perhaps help her on her journey for knowledge. The concrete walls of the buildings around her were clean and cool to the touch. Everything about this place was clean, even the smell. Elements of nature had been interwoven with the metropolis, lending the air a quality of freshness with sweet scents of vegetation. The streets were bustling, yet still managed to remain spotless. Poinsettia had to be a wealthy town, as even the people gave off that kind of vibe. Titania feel like an outsider in this place, she did not feel welcome at all. Across the street, Titania spotted a tall man with white hair. "Hey, man with the green eyes........ Know where I can find a mage or somebody who knows about magic?" |

As always, it seemed, the Universe did not care what people thought was unlikely. From across the street, Learme heard a voice, addressing "The man with green eyes." It was... not what he would have expected to be addressed as, but it worked well enough. Cracking his neck, he turned about, striding over to her. "Were you addressing me?" He spread his hands. "Well, I'm hardly an expert, but I would say I know something about magic, yes." Giving a bow that toed the line between respectful and sarcastic to a most artful degree, he balanced on his heels and stared at her. "Is there something specific you are looking for help with?" The girl was odd-looking, that was for certain. Unusually dressed, and the more extravagantly you dressed, the more likely you were to be interesting. It only stood to reason, right? Tilting his head, he tapped his chin. "Granted, I'm not exactly a strong type, so if you're looking for a fight, I must decline, but if you wish to KNOW..." his emphasis on this word was a tad intense. "Then I can indeed assist." Giving a quick bow, he moved back up almost immediately. Internally, he was quite curious. Was this girl a mage? If so, what did she do? He wanted to know, yes, oh yes he did. He hadn't exactly seen a proper mage in action, but he could feel his own magic practically buzzing, waiting to be used for it's intended purpose. |

Titania nodded at the man, who had been curious about her intentions. His voice was unique in that it sounded facetious yet official at the same time. Perhaps it was because she had not received enough rest, but something felt off about the man. Regardless, she continued the conversation, rubbing her eyes while talking with her dreamy tone. "Magic...... perhaps training to strengthen my ties to the.......... Arcana." She shook her head at the implication of a fight. If anything physical was to come from this interaction, it would only be training. Now, she craved knowledge and magical prowess. People passed noisily around them, but she ignored them for now and focused in on their conversation. This man was peculiar in a way she couldn't quite place, which was most likely caused by the sleep clouding her brain. Even though she had still received an excellent amount of it, she still felt sleep deprived, most likely due to the magical bonds tied to her since forever. "Perfect. I have compensation for your...... Time and skill.." From deep within, she called upon the thread sized bond to the Lachelnian rivers of Arcana. While doing so, the ethereal fairy wings erupted from her back in a brilliant and shimmering pastel blue and pink. Putting her hand behind her back, she focused and called forth some Arcana. Now, he held a refined and controlled glob of Arcana currently taking the visual form of a mesh bag of gold coins. Most people fined tuned to magic would have felt it being used, but not in what way. It would commonly be attributed to the wings on her back, but not to the faux gold held in one hand. People stared at her, some pointing and talking. Titania could hear the whispers, and she was thankful that they were mostly appraisals of the beauty held by the wings. Smiling at the man, she held out the bag for him to see, before putting it behind her back and letting the Arcana fizzle away unnoticeably. "My name is Titania....... How about you?"Techniques

The Arcana, hmmm? He wasn't entirely sure what that was referring to. Tarot Cards? Perhaps she had some sort of Holder-type magic to do with a deck. Odd, but certainly not totally unusual, from what he was aware. Entirely academically so far, but still. When her body sprouted wings, Learme was admittedly surprised, but took it in stride. It seemed that she was demonstrating her magic. Well then, it seemed it was time to go to work. With nary a sound, the green irises of his eyes became a solid green circle. "I believe I can assist." Within said circle, if someone looked closely enough, they might see a rapidly changing pattern. It was not in fact solid green, but instead numerous ones and zeros, shifting rapidly within his half-lidded eyes. His eyes were initially drawn to the wings upon her back, but when she brought her hands out and held forth what, to most people, probably looked like a bag of coins, he chuckled. "You have compensation? Oh, indeed you do." His eyes tore into the mana woven into the illusion, but disappointingly, she put away the wings before he could fully take apart the metaphorical clockwork. Still, he had gained quite some insight into the technique. It was fairly elementary, actually. Perhaps if he saw it once more, he would have it fully decrypted. Leaning back against the wall of the building, he stared down at Titania. "Greetings, Titania. I am Learme Melchance, by name. I have other... nomenclatures, but they're not really important." He winked at her. "Granted, I should clarify... the compensation you offered did suffice, but only because I have a deep fascination with magical esoterica." His eyes opened fully as he rocked forward on his heels for a moment, the oddly shifting patterns of his eyes staring down at her. Brain Eater [Rank 3 Edited by Tokoz, Dec 8 2016, 02:32 PM.

The eyes of the man were empty with flickering and changing tiny lines of information. They were a glossy and empty green, one that inspired curiosity in the peculiarly dressed woman. For a moment, she seemed confused at the appearant analytical gaze, but quickly made an assumption to the reason. Most likely, he was either an anti magic wielder, Or an archive magician. She was curious, had he seen through her illusion, or was at least afraid of it. Maybe since he was analyzing her magic, he'd be able to inform her of how she'd be able to develop and strengthen it. While this man was certainly unnerving, he gave her no reason to be actually afraid. Uncanny was not a quality that warranted actual concern, even if human brains were programmed to think so of their obscurity. Besides, she felt perfectly capable of defending herself, even if weakly. If It is knowledge you desire, I can...... Enrich you. What I know is certainly sufficient, therefore. You are probably getting the better end of the deal. She inhaled loudly to let out a yawn of content while her perfectly manicured hands rubbed at her eyes. "We should go somewhere more private...... I have trade secrets, any ideas where we can go? Nodding at her response, Learme tapped his chin. "Sounds reasonable enough." She was apparently skilled in Illusion, and presumably some other disciplines as well, given she did not appear worried about heading somewhere with someone she did not know. That implied some form of combat spell, then. What it was, he had no idea. Perhaps she could make herself a distraction with that illusion spell? Hmm. Somewhere more private, though... Tapping his chin with a long finger, Learme looked around the street, mind whirling. Further down the lane, a restaurant stood. If he recalled correctly, it had booths toward the back that had doors, intended for private meetings or whatever was required. That could work. "Yes, I believe I do. The Sanctum Cafe, down the street. It should be optimal for this discussion." He tapped his face for a moment, then turned, gesturing. "Follow me." As he turned, the glowing pattern in his eyes flickered away. No point in keeping it up if he wasn't going to keep using it. The cafe wasn't tremendously busy, the lunch rush already over and the dinner rush yet to begin. Gesturing to the waiter, Learme removed a handful of jewels and indicated the tables in the back, looking around to see if Titania had followed. |

The Sanctum cafe was very aesthetically pleasing. The tiles reflected the artwork painting on the walls and ceiling in a way that almost created an optical illusion. She followed behind Learme, carefully observing her surroundings. All desires to sleep had left her system, almost at will. The restaurant was mostly empty, save few a few stragglers from the lunch rush and a few who were very early for supper. The crowd was in a state of twilight, an empty period between meal times. Regardless, she could smell bead breaking and things deep frying, an odd yet satisfying aroma. While walking, she let her mind wander to the foods they could have been cooking in the kitchen. From the smell, she guessed perhaps fried fish with fries and gravy bread. Eating was a new experience to her, but it was necessary all the time. Reading and knowing about taste was exponentially different than actually feeling and tasting the warm or even cold food on your tongue. So far, Titania really enjoyed Ice Cream and anything involving bread, butter, and herbs. Toutins were also a favorite, but they were only served in an isolated town in the eastern region of Fiorre near the sea. A while ago she had asked a local restaurant if they had some, but apparently only confused the waitress that had been serving her. After Learned gestured to the waitress to a booth that sat behind closed doors. The man showed her jewels, which thankfully were real this time. Silverware clinked and ice cubes clanked as they approached the booth, Titania smiled at the man when he looked back to her. Cool air escaped from the booth area as the waitress pushed open the ornate wooden doors that had been accented with gold. It smelled relatively clean, which was good, given Titania's susceptibility to disgust. The pink haired mage held down her skirt and crossed her legs as she took her seat, which was apparently the proper ettiquette. She didn't really care if anybody saw, but she believed trying to fit in with social norms would be beneficial, even if only slightly. The waitress placed two menus down in front of them before smiling and gesturing with her hands. "I'll be back now shortly to bring your drinks and our freshly baked bread of the day, a puffy white loaf with green onions and sour cream baked into the dough." After the woman left, Titania gazed into the eyes of the man opposite her. "I am now happy to answer any questions." Techniques

Sitting down, Learme considered Titania. It was beginning to become quite apparent that in some way, she was just as odd as he was. She seemed to be about to fall asleep, up until a minute ago, but now she was wide awake and seemed far more invested. Her body language was rather different from the other people around, and unless he had severely misunderstood that book he had found, "How to Pick Up Fair Maidens", she had made a comment that in most other scenarios would have been seen quite differently. Not that he really had any interest in, as the book put it, "Snogging." Seemed rather like a massive waste of time, honestly. Still, odd was good. Odd was interesting. He liked interesting, all things considered. Settling back, he folded his hands in front of himself, head tilting slightly. "Now then, what precisely were you wishing to know, would be my first question." Blinking slightly, he flicked a finger through the air, making a small window. With a dark grey background and emerald hued tracery, it looked quite odd just floating there. Peering at it for a moment, he frowned. "Hmmm. Not as much information as I'd have liked.... shame. Suppose I'll have to give it another go." Looking back at her, he nodded at the floating window. "I use Archive Magic, as you can see. Some rather interesting things coming from your illusion, by the way." Flicking open his hand, he made the window larger, contemplating the rather short information presented once more before flicking his hand to one side. The window zipped away, and Learme settled back. "So, I suppose I must clarify my question." Frowning for a moment, he tilted his head back and forth, then grinned. "Ah yes, there we are." "Not what are you wishing to know... what is your end goal? What you wish to know, I may not be able to say precisely. What you plan to do with that information, that I may be able to help with in ways you did not perhaps expect, yes?" Nodding, he folded his hands again. "So... ask away." |

In all honesty, Titania had no idea what she wanted to know, but she knew what she wanted. The thing she desired was power, which would most likely be obtained through training and dedication. However, she needed to thicken the bond between her and the Arcana, as its current state did not allow for what she hoped to accomplish in the near or possibly distant future. Everyone she had consulted with beforehand had given her the same advice: use your magic a lot and it will become stronger. She believed this but had her doubts. This man before her, who had opened some kind of sign in mid-air, was more than likely a professional who could give her the real scoop with his archive magic. Apparently, the man needed another analysis of her illusion. It was always surprising when somebody could see through or knew of her powers, but it had happened a few times here and there. This man had confirmed his ability as an archive mage, and the black window he had just enlarged before dismissing was most likely some sort of information log. She had seen similar technologies in other worlds, so it was not a foreign concept. "If you did not receive this information from your analysis, Instead of a magic potential instilled within me, I call upon the bond inside me that connects me to one of the many sources of magic in this universe. Using this bond, I transport this pure magic, called Arcana into our current world. Since I was born from the.............. Knowledge on the river bank near the bottom, my bond is influenced by the ideals and motifs of Lacheln. Essentially, since Lacheln, the town I used to rule, is one of illusions and dreams, I have that aspect and motif to my magic. Yawning once more, she continued. "My bond used to be very large, I used to be a very powerful woman. Now, since the anomaly which caused the destruction of Lacheln carried me out of the land of Arcana and into Fiorre, my bond has weakened exponentially. If I strengthen it, the natural result would be stronger magic, right? I hope......................... That you'll be able to assist me in doing so. If needed, I can show you my spell again, but I need to rest for a bit before being able to cast it again." Techniques
