Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Mago Burttodo (Mah-go or if you are one of those people you can say May-go like a true southerner. Bur-toe-doe all though Butt hurto will suffice)
Why? Because I was thinking about cool names and new I wanted it to end with go then went through different letter combinations in my head until I got this one. The last name is product of me being subconsciously butthurt at all times

Erik- lmao his name was going to be Eric but he needed to be special somehow so I used to nordic spelling and didn't give him a last name because honestly his family would be so disappointed if he was associated with them

Malcolm Waesche- okay so you better be able to pronounce Malcolm it's something like (male-come ;) and the last name is pronounced (Way-she) and I named him after my best friend because I was lazy

Who you calling chocobo head...

- Kain's name is a combination of canine, the first murderer Cain from the bible, Kain from FFIV, and Kotarou (his face claim) from Mahou Sensei Negmia. Inugami is just plain ripped from Kotarou Inugami and is basically just descriptive.

- Therius is a Greek name meaning Free, which seemed fitting for someone I call 'the wanderer'. Apparently it's also from a game but I wasn't aware of it at the time. Hart is just me slicing the end of Lockhart, because you know, if I'm going to blatantly rip off Final Fantasy characters. Pronunciation wise this is probably just me being strange, but I always said 'Fair-e-us'.

- Eru is the supreme being/creator of the universe in Lord of the Rings (The One, or more fitting He Who Is Alone), and Ainion is Place of the Gods in the same mythos. Erudagrian is also the name of the angel, as is Ainion, the latter one apparently being an angel that disagreed with God. ...So basically a lonely angel thrown from heaven over a disagreement with the creator. Eru was originally actually going to be an angel with 'Twilight' (dual Light/Dark elemental magic) Creature magic, but I figured the name was fitting enough for a demon-bloodied boy trying to do good by fighting his heritage, and I didn't want to throw away the name. Pronunciation, I tend to say 'Ee-Roo', 'An-e-on'. What, his full name? Why would you ask, there is a reason I don't use it even on his profile heading. If I had to suffer through it, I suppose I would attempt 'Ee-Roo-Da-Gree-An'.

Stay the course.

Aiden Dalinar Vakarian (Ay-den Dal-in-ar Va-care-ian)
- Aiden is just a name I like. This also started the trend of most of my characters having their first names starting with A. I've since broken that trend though.
- Dalinar Kholin is one of the main protagonists in The Stormlight Archive fantasy novel series. That's where his Aiden's middle name comes from. Originally, I just had it as "D." forever, with no mention of what the D stood for. That lasted for several years.
- Vakarian is obviously from Garrus Vakarian, from the Mass Effect series.
- Both Dalinar and Vakarian were chosen mostly because I liked the characters and the sound of the names, but also because both characters tend to be professional soldier-types. Aiden is one of the first Knights on the site (the 4th made since the originally Knight system was initially released), so I thought this to be fitting.

Artorius Sidonis (Ar-tor-i-es Sid-o-nis)
- The name Artorius comes from Lucius Artorius Castus, a Roman military commander that's thought to be a sort of historical basis for King Arthur. Artorius did not know his real name until a year ago, so he just used a name he liked, which was that of a storybook hero. Naturally, it was an Arthurian tale. This also fits Artorius' overarching development of a man who was anything but a hero slowly trying to become one, and succeeding to a degree.
- Sidonis comes from Lantar Sidonis, who is a character in Mass Effect series. This character betrayed Garrus Vakarian I mentioned before. I thought this to be an interesting paradigm. When I made Artorius, I was learning about equifinality and multifinality. Specifically, multifinality is basically the suggestion that similar conditions can lead to vastly dissimilar results. In this case, Artorius and Aiden both grew up in similar conditions, but the choices they made and the people influencing them led one to be a Knight and the other to be a criminal Rogue. The Sidonis-Vakarian thing was intentional. They're opposite sides of the same coin.
- Artorius' birth name is Kylin Zhang though, which is just the name of his faceclaim. Zhang is a pretty common Chinese last name, but Kylin is a sort of alternate spelling of Qilin or Kirin, which is an Asian mythological creature that's sort of like a chimera between an Ox/Horse/Deer and a Dragon.
- On another note, I can not begin to describe to you how often people misspell my character's name.

Ashton Carmine (Ash-ten Car-mine)
- This is pretty self simple. Ashton comes from Ash, which is an obvious reference to the Pokemon animated series' Ash.
- Carmine is a shade of the color red, which is a reference to Red, which is the main character of Pokemon Generation I and a main protagonist of the Pokemon Special manga series.

Kieran Lorwynn (Kee-ar-awn Lor-win)
- Kieran, starting with the letter "K" breaks the mold of my (male) characters having names that start with the letter "A." Kieran is honestly just a name I like. There's not a whole lot of thought put into it, but it immediately fit the moment I found the face-claim. I had the idea for this character many years ago. I just never had a properly fitting face-claim for it because I have exacting standards.
- Lorwynn refers to the Lorwynn plane in Magic the Gathering, which is full of elves and tribes and that sort of thing. Kieran, being a character from Stella which is largely populated by elves and full of druidic, shamanistic, and similar practices just made the last name seem fitting than others.

Refhil Clase roo - heel or roo - phwil ; klah - see or klase (NOT z)

reflet + nihil. i like these two words, and their definitions have some relevance to the character's underlying theme. reflet has to do with luster, while nihil is nothingness. as a note, the first syllable is pronounced like 'rew', an obsolete form of a word that means to wave. alternately, it is also pronounced like 'rue', or regret, which is also a reoccurring theme (or lack thereof). the second syllable might be a hidden meaning, but mostly i like how the name ends up being pronounced due to the second syllable's -fhi-. it could be a diphthong (ui), or not. in some eastern languages, there is no distinction between 'f' and 'h' since it is aspirated like a whistle. but since we're using a western language, the name is allowed to have some pronunciation variation. it's an endearing phenomenon. ルフレ had a minimal involvement in the decision as well.

clase is directly from plagioclase, in which klasis is used (cleave). the -clase in plagioclase has one pronunciation, but i allowed a second one in case anyone wants to read it that way. there is a reoccurring theme of gemology terms and abstract traits of water throughout both the character's history using subtle key words, such as regarding iridescence, knowledge, illusion (deception of truths; mirror). plagioclase is a set of minerals that can be found commonly in rocks that form under water. specifically, one of the members of plagioclase is labradorite, a mineral whose namesake played a heavy role in the making of the behind-the-character.

however you pronounce refhil, if you say it really fast many times in a row, it sounds like reveal.

however you pronounce clase, do NOT hold out the vowel or the consonants. it's spoken quickly.

Verba volant, scripta manent.

Lilith Nox: [lill-lith nox (like ox)]This one's fairly simple, in Jewish tradition Lilith was Adam's first wife, but the real reason why I picked the name is because it roughly translates to 'of the night'. Nox literally translates to 'night' in Greek/Latin (sources vary).

Veronica: This is the town where Lilith grew up, it is indeed a type of flower but the real reason why I picked this was because Lilith's magic took some inspiration from a story I was writing called "Team Veronica". I got that name because one of my neighbor's name is Veronica.

Atlas Lykaios: [at-las lie-kai-oas] Atlas is just a name I like. Usually when I think about it I'm referring to an atlas on a map, which correlates to the fact that the character is looking for something that he doesn't really know exists. Lykaios means wolfish in Greek.

Leonidas Aglaeca: [lee-o-nide-as a-glay-ca] Not going to lie, Leonidas I kind of just picked at random after thinking 'what's a European-esque name that sounds like Meliodas (his faceclaim)? I also really like the name in general. However, since I gave explanations on the other names I'll give one on this. King Leonidas I was a king of Sparta at the time of the Persian invasion of Greece. He died in the Battle of Thermopylae, but not before holding back the Persians with a combined small Greek army for quite a long time compared to the forces they were up against. Eventually, Leonidas ordered a majority of the army to retreat, leaving only 300 Spartans to defend the pass. It's said that all of these 300 perished in battle, but their sacrifice allowed Greece to fight on. So yeah, the character and the actual historical figure don't have much in common aside from the fact that they both like fighting (Leonidas I was a warrior king) but it's a cool story, right? Anyways, Aglaeca is a form of Old English for ferocious or formidable fighter, and although used more in darker contexts, such as referencing demons and monsters, it can also be used to describe a hero, which is probably the main reason why I chose the last name, as it hints to the lighter side of the character's personality.

Steel your mind. Run on instinct.
Artesia Zenaide (Ar-tee-zee-a Zen-eye-day) yep, no one guesses her name right.

Mihairi May Minori (Me-high-ree May Min-or-ee)

Both names were made up after sitting there playing with sounds in my head. Minori is a long standing name I use in MMOs & as account names (mainly Kaihime Minori). Ecclair is self explanatory and easy to pronounce so I didn't include it.
