Alekis finally stepped into Magnolia after three months of leaving his hometown of Oshibana on a train. A ride that would have taken a couple of days but with side tracking, wondering off and getting lost (even if all he had to do was stay on the train) he had finally arrived. It was a good day at least to him. The sky above was a deep dark grey, thunder rumbled from a small huff to a pulsing roar that shook windows. Lightning of different colors zipped and slithered across the sky reveling in it's unlimited power and absolute authority. The tempest winds lifted paper and skirts with it's surprise sudden gusts of winds. Rain drops splashed on stone and thudded on umbrellas and newspapers. Alekis moved through the rain with the same big smile he always wore, taking in the large city. Even with the rain he could smell fresh baked bread and chocolate which made his mouth water. As usual he wore a sleeveless white shirt and knee length black shorts. No shoes and a.heart shaped pendant. A.sleeping bag slung over his shoulder with a new fishing pole he had bought for cheap. Walking through the rain he felt a tremor of excitement roll through his core as thunder boomed out and lightning seared the air. To Alekis he felt he was receiving his own nature induced parades at his arrival. Hunger suddenly made a demand as his stomach growled reminding him he.hadn't ate in awhile. He still had some jewels left over so he could afford a good sit down meal. Wondering around he stopped as a delicious smell hit his nose. Drooling he followed it to a cafe who's name he couldn't pronounce so the BA cafe would be what he called it. Opening the door it created a tinkling bell .noise. Alekis suddenly froze, his face turning crimson as he saw a room full of beautiful women in different sexy costumes. He gulped and was about to turn and run when he was pushed from behind deeper into the cafe. Palms sweating he looked around quickly for some kind of escape which he found none. Turning back to the person heading his way he prepared himself like he was about to fight. Oh gods above...help. |

Rain or shine, the Bishoujo-Ai's doors were always open to guests. As a niche establishment, it was inevitable that the customer base was smaller compared to a larger cafe, but the Bishoujo-Ai had always taken pride in the quality of their food, service, and costumes. That week's theme had been Fairies, and by extension the waitresses had a wide collection of modifications to their uniforms, from simple butterfly wings and seasonally coloured clothing to elaborate costumes patterned after the half-mythical sidhe. Of course, in Magnolia anything to do with fairies was generally well received. As a result, even despite the poor weather outside, a handful of hardcore customers were still present and sat sipping at tea or eating one of their many delicate cakes. Arianna herself was dressed in a bubblegum pink maid outfit that matched her hair, with a woven leaf circlet and glittery disposable wings. A clipboard rested in one hand, with a pen held against it with her thumb as she flittered from customer to customer, finally coming upon a seemingly horror-stricken teen who looked like he could really use a snack. Of course, she couldn't help but tease him just a liittle bit, as it looked like he really was a newbie to this kind of establishment. Mischief twinkled in her glassy yellow eyes as she curtsied politely, redirecting the young man's attention to a nearby free table. "Good afternoon to you, young master. Shall I help you to a table? Will you be by yourself today, or shall I set a place for other guests?" |

What's The Point

Speaking of unlimited power... Pouring rain assailed the residents of Magnolia, punctuated by clapping thunder that scared children under their beds and a cold, frigid wind that reprimanded those women dumb enough to wear skirts in such weather. The elements were wild today, reveling in their raw power as the subjects of their apathetic onslaught simply hurried about their days with a practiced briskness about themselves, eager to return home and relax on their porch, nodding off to the soothing sound of Mother Nature. As if challenging the perceived omnipotence of the thunderstorm over Magnolia, a low, rumbling, foghorn-like blast of sound roared through the city, drowning out the rolling sounds of thunder for the several seconds that it lasted before fading into the sky. The thunder almost appeared to respond with claps and rumbles of its own, before a second blast - this one lower-pitched than the last - sounded through the city in defiance, audible by the waitresses and patrons of the Bishoujo-Ai. The storm clouds crashed and thundered in uproarious indignity, as if daring the horn to sound one last time. And it did, even lower-pitched this time, rattling cups and vibrating buildings in its ferocity. And then, nothing. The ambiance would subside to little more than the downpour of rain and occasional thunderclap as the thoroughly-shaken townsfolk hurried along the tedium that was their daily tasks with just a bit more briskness. Within a few minutes of the blonde-haired young man's arrival and seating, the door to the cafe would open just the tiniest bit with a creak that would be near-inaudible in the rain, and a small child wearing a waterlogged pink outfit and a stylized respirator covering her lower face would enter, holding a tiny stuffed bunny in her left hand and rubbing her eyes with her right. Cynthia yawned quietly, her crimson red eyes rather droopy as she shuffled into the establishment, water dripping from her clothes as she did. It was she who was responsible for the deafeningly loud noises the entire city had heard earlier. They would not know it, however - and the girl would forget before long. Right now, though? She just wanted a flarpin' cookie or something. |

Alekis looked on as the young girl came up to him. Having someone so young vanished his fear and he gave a wide smile at her greeting. "Thank you miss, I like your costume." He followed her to a table and sat down, blushing hard when a beautiful woman walked by in her umm revealing fairy outfit. Hiding behind his menu as he moved his mouth trying to talk. "Umm..I'll umm, have...the umm yes Ale. Please " he nearly strangled on his words as he tried to get them out. Beautiful women were a crippling curse on the young lightning mage. His hands shaking a little as he looked at the small girl and seemed to sober up some. "A question if I may. Aren't you a little young to be working in this kind of establishment? " He was about to go on when a huge sound drowned out the beautiful sound of pulsing thunder. Alekis looked affronted out the window, almost taking it as a personal insult that anyone would dare such an act. The sound ended and the thunder reacted with it's own booming resonance to assert its authority in the natural world. The sounds reverberated again and Alekis nearly stood up to see who the hell was making that noise. When it finally ended and the thunder once more took over dominance of the natural world. Alekis stared out the window for a long moment before turning back to the menu and looked it over for his meal. A burger caught his eye and he pointed at it. "I'll have this please." he gave a wide smile before his manic eyes took in the new visitor. The girl was small and adorable as she stepped out of the rain. He looked at her for a long moment and waited for the girls parents to come in with her. When they didn't he leaned over to get her attention. Smiling in a friendly way he offered her the other chair. His big brother instincts popping up on seeing the girl alone. Five sisters in a bad town those instincts made.up his being and was impossible to ignore. |

Tunez "Thank you kindly, young master," Arianna's easy grin continued at the young man's obvious discomfort with the presence of some of her prettier older coworkers. As long as he kept his hands to himself, of course, there wouldn't be any problems with looking. It was why the lot of them dressed up in the first place. Those uncomfortable with dressing in costume were far more likely to work at the counter or in the kitchens. "I'm afraid we don't offer alcohol here, especially since you're a little too young to be drinking that sort of thing, but I'll have something warm for you right away." If he wanted something strong, and that was why he had been asking for alcohol, then... she was pretty sure that Esma-san had a special kind of coffee for that sort of person. It was also the perfect sort of thing for a stormy day, and had a kind of electrifying zip that just filled you with energy. Of course, the last time Arianna had tried it, she'd been bouncing off the walls for three hours, but maybe someone older could handle it better... Her teasing was interrupted by the rumbling sound of foghorns and the arrival of a new guest, who was promptly introduced to the same table as her latest vic... customer. Arianna briefly regarded the menu that Alekis was reading before slapping her face forehead first into the table and replacing it with a proper menu. It appeared that one of the regulars had mixed it up with one from a neighboring establishment as a bit of a joke... or maybe he'd just been drunk. Who knew? In it's place was... well, to be certain the bishoujo Ai was a place with many unique and colourfully designed items and services on the menu. "As apology for the confusion, I'll bring you both something special on the house while you decide on your orders." Curtsying politely, Arianna disappeared behind the counter into the back of the store for a brief handful of moments - perhaps a minute at most - and reappeared again with a steaming cup of what appeared to be coffee with violet swirls of some sort, a pair of chocolate cookies etched with rabbit's faces in white-and-red icing (vanilla and strawberry!) and a small slice of dark, savory-sweet cake, which she placed in front of her two guests. "Now that you've had a moment to look over the options available, is there anything you'd like, young master, young lady? Ah, and today's specials are Stormy Love's Stew and the True Friendship Surprise Set, which comes with your choice of cheesecake for desert!" |
