Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Nanashi was truly confused, though perhaps disappointed in himself that he would dare to attack someone he was supposedly respecting. And when the Desiertian mercenary appeared to taunt them, it made it all too clear to him that he was far from being who he is meant to be. If to others he was nothing more than a child, a helpless child who knew nothing of even controlling his own strength and emotions, what good was he? He held back himself from lashing out at that instance but he did not think that Gale would be the one to act. A sudden thrust forward and the armoured head crashed solidly with his.

He let out a yelp in shock and pain as he felt like his head had suddenly been hit by a truck. Staggering backwards as he raised a hand to hold the side of his head while the ringing in his ears would not stop, Nanashi ended up falling on his butt on the ground. He winced at the pain as he glared at Gale, shocked and confused at the turn of events. But he quickly seemed to understood what the other had meant to tell him with that move. Eyes slowly cast down as in embarrassment as he waited for his head to clear up from the nagging pain that the head-butt had caused.

But perhaps what he did not expect was what Gale would soon say next. He quickly raised his head in disbelief as the other said his parting words, pretty much leaving him there. And while the image of the latter’s back stuck into his mind even after Gale had disappeared into the corner, Nanashi remained unmoving, brows furrowing in sadness.

“My, my, my, quite the temper he got, though you very much deserved it,” said Ririka as she got down from the rooftop, landing ever so elegantly on the ground next to Nanashi. “I’ve warned you too many times, boy.”

Quickly, Nanashi turned to face Ririka and with a raised voice, he drew out a kukri towards her direction, frustrated and just downright unable to control his emotions. Ririka, however, was quite capable just as before, manoeuvring to avoid the strike before she deflected the latter’s arm aside and cross the distance between them, thrusting against Nanashi’s chest. Nanashi felt a solid object hit just below his ribcage as he glanced down to see what it was, but Ririka had quickly moved to uppercut him right at the chin.

Needless to say, coming from a world of headache, getting hit square to the jaw from that angle, only made it worse. Nanashi staggered back, trying to keep his balance as the equilibrium was breaking and he felt like fallen to the ground, which he did. Down on one knee, he looked up to Ririka, his red kimono aflame once more.

“Really? Haven’t you learned at all? No wonder your keeper abandoned you,” she said in exasperation as she drew out a strange looking crossbow from her side.

At once, the red kimono stretched out to lash at her, but Ririka was seemingly anticipating for it, jumping in midair to find that opening, aiming her crossbow and shooting.Nanashi was a tad bit late to notice. By the time the kimono retracted to swirl in defense, the pinion had gone through the opening and hit him square in the chest. He crashed back to the ground as he slowly felt his strength fade away. Small tongues of fire vanished from the surface of the red kimono as the feral child began to close his eyes.

“I suppose you expect me to carry him now,” Ririka said as she glanced to the other corner of the alley where a silhouette of a man could be seen. “How ungentlemanly of you.” She then hid the crossbow and went over to Nanashi’s side.

Meanwhile, Gale’s presence, no matter how superb he would want to stay hidden, would never fully work against those of the underground. After all, he was quite the known assassin, and this particular information broken of Magnolia was quick to catch him in the streets. Feigning to drop his bag on the ground just before Gale, the man would lean forward to retrieve it from the ground as he spoke, “I wonder what you did to incur a bounty… quite the hefty sum from a rather rich fellow of Mizhou.” And when he fully got up, he looked straight to where Gale’s eyes would be, and apologised like a decent citizen, complete with a polite bow, before adding, “Don’t worry though. It’s rather recent. Too recent, and yet the underworld is buzzingly alive to get whatever information of you.” And with a smile, the man added, “Would you like to have some coffee as a form of apology for suddenly bumping into you?”

Um, hey, why is that man coming directly towards us in this crowd without even trying to move away?

Oh, hey probably wants to ask us directions. You know, all that good Samaritan stuff that we definitely always find ourselves wound up in. The usual. Nothing too important, I'd guess.

Haru's sarcasm was not lost even in thought form, for his scathing thoughts struck just as hard a chord in their mind than it would've when spoken. Aki, by and large accustomed to his attitude, simply sighed and turned metaphorically to Gale. They could not realistically turn to one individual at a time, true, but it was still possible to imply focus and give more attention in order to drive home a point. The point being that they were going to have more trouble to deal with very soon.

so he's going to try to stab us eventually within the next hour if we don't do something about it, or he'll do something that'll lead to us getting stabbed by someone else? Aki asked, her tone that of concern and regret. She didn't like killing as much as the next girl did, but since she had joined with Gale, which had been a year earlier than Haru had done so, she had little choice but to get accustomed to her new life. It was Gale's own little curse, she realized, that he not only did not actively seek out people to kill all the time, and rather preferred a life of no disturbances outside of his jobs, but that people would actively seek him out to either employ or kill him. Few times they were people who would stand a chance, and most of the times they didn't even find Gale before he either vanished for a month or killed their pursuer.

Gale was an assassin, and there was no doubt that he was a very good one. His success rates were high, far higher than the average, and his life expectancy was several times the expected length. His mouth was tight and his personality apathetic, and so he was unlikely to betray the confidentiality agreements set up between employer and employee. Aki herself had long since lost track of how many people he - they - had killed together, despite wanting to remember their victims from the start, but she knew that it was simply too many. Wars and raiding parties notwithstanding, he had surely killed hundreds of people, if not thousands within his decade and more of killing.

Like they had said, they were monsters. And most people who dabbled with monsters died.

"I've been in Mizhou before, but I don't recall doing anything that would've left a grudge." The assassin said, shrugging good-naturedly, his voice joyful and easygoing. "Don't fret the bump, it's nothing serious, but thanks for the heads up anyways. I'll see you around." Bowing his head towards the man without any traces of surprise towards the fact that he had incurred a bounty, one of dozens by now, the assassin turned to leave, intending to move further into the masses of people that Magnolia always had.

It was nothing but a dark void, cold, silent, unfeeling, and when he opened his eyes, he saw the draping curtains. Nanashi was alarmed and quickly bolted on the bed he was on, a rustling of shackles caught his attention as his movement was hampered. Both hands were chained to the bedpost, the cold against his skin was reminiscent of the cold in that empty dream. He then looked up and around, finding himself in a seemingly ordinary and drab looking room, with the window open and the curtain fluttering from the wind that blew into the room. Outside, he could hear the voices of people, nothing too alarming, nothing out of the ordinary. But to be chained?

“I must apologise for the unsightly ensemble you’re in,” said Ririka as she entered the room. Nanashi quickly pulled at the chains and emitted his curse magic, strengthening his arms. There was a creaking sound before one of the chains snapped, the one that held back his dominant arm, and he quickly lashed outwards, sending the snapped chain to fly at her. However, the feline mercenary simply disappeared with her magic and reappeared once more next to him by the bed, a dagger by his throat. “And this is exactly why you were chained. You never seem to relax even for a bit.”

Cold metal against flesh, drawing a bit of blood, Nanashi glared at her from the side of his face, not able to turn completely. He growled a guttural growl as his other hand was still tensed and trying to pry the chains apart like he did earlier. However, just at that very moment, the room was covered in a black mist.

“Shh… be polite now, boy,” Ririka said, patting his head with her free hand before he nudging her head towards the direction of the center of the room.

At the very center of the room, right where the mist was thickest, a spark was seen before a figure suddenly appeared, seemingly forming out of the mist. As the rest of the mist receded back to the feet of the stranger, clothed in black garment and armor, face well-hidden beneath an obscured mask, he waved his hand and both of the chains on Nanashi’s arms snapped and broke into shards. At that, Nanashi quickly got up and drew out his blades… but there wasn’t. He had not noticed that his weapons were stripped from him. Just then, a heavy hand grabbed him from the back of his head and slammed his face down back to the bed as he struggle to get away, turning sidewards to at least get some air.

“Didn’t I say to be polite?” the feline mercenary said, her voice changing cold, almost beastly and he could feel that the hand that held his head down was large, powerful, and felt the claws at the tip of each finger.

“Now, now, Ririka. That’s not how to treat a guest,” said a cool voice beneath the mask. The stranger in black then approached the edge of the bed and knelt. He held out a hand and replaced it with the mercenary’s on top of Nanashi’s head. “Calm down, my child. You need not to be scared anymore. This may not be the forest, but you are still as powerful as you have always been. It’s time you know more.”

“Yes, indeed. You would not know, for since when has a famed assassin began to remember all faces and names?” said the man as he moved slightly away from Gale. “Well, it’s a pity about the coffee. I know a certain place that serves a great one.” A snap of a finger and a cafe just about ten meters behind Gale blew up. Then along the other hand of the messenger, a metallic crossbow appeared, as if the magic that was meant to keep it hidden had ended. On it was an explosive pinion much like the that struck at the lion earlier.

“There was another interesting tidbit, you know. About a certain forest demon child. Instead of a bounty for the head, it was more like to play with it, if you know what I mean by that.” he then vanished and reappeared a bit further away as the panicking crowd began to run in all directions between them. Raising the crossbow, he would then shoot at Gale. “And it would seem as though you managed to call his attention last time. This would be interesting.”

Assassination Extraordinaire

Jesus christ, does no one in this business know how to shut up? It's like they literally can't stop talking. Seriously, why does everybody have to try to have something witty to say or a one-liner to give. I thought y'all were supposed to be secretive. Haru spat, complaining as they dove to the ground, rolling as they hit the cobblestones and hearing the cracks that followed the cafe near them exploding quite violently and purposefully. Perhaps this was one time where the explosion could not be blamed on a gas leak, but knowing the kind of people that would seek out a man to kill in the middle of a bustling city and blow up a public establishment just to get his attention, they would probably try to do so.

Only insane people work in assassinations. Gale answered with a mental shrug of his shoulders, fully aware that he would be classified as arguably insane in most if not categories of sanity. Haru, to his credit, was silent for a moment before he swore in agreement, and without wasting a beat they had rolled back to their feet, cancelling out the flow of magic from Utsuho with a quick hand signal. They didn't need strength right now, not when their opponent was a madman with little regard to collateral damage and subtlety. No, right now they needed speed, to outrun a madman who shot explosive crossbow bolts from his weapon and could teleport every now and then. It wasn't going to be of much use to be able to headbutt him into submission if they couldn't approach him or even track him properly.

Plus, Gale didn't intend to fight him. Not head one, not one on one, and very much not in this space.

So we run? Aki asked to a wordless affirmation as the man appeared once more, shooting at Gale in a way that could only be described as highly predictable. There was little else that the man could do after appearing so many meters away from them, and thanks to Gale's artificially enhanced senses, he could both hear and smell the man appearing without needing to see him - though as a side effect he could also smell the burning cafe, the pooling blood, and hear someone whimpering in fright as they soiled their trousers in terror. Classy. He remarked, snorting in their mind before Aki glared at him to shut up, which he did obediently. They ducked and rolled once again, the bolt passing over their heads to punch into the abdomen of a man, both killing him from the pure force of the bolt and subsequently spreading his corpse over a much wider area. The human body seemed sufficient to reduce the force of an explosion of this caliber, still, the assassin noted. Interesting and useful if this fight dragged on. And very distressing to any bystanders.

Reaching to his side and drawing out a stick roughly 30cm in length, the assassin shot a flare from the tip of the wand before running in the same direction he had decided in, a crimson flare racing into the sky before exploding in a highly noticeable pyrotechnic flash. Red flares were used to communicate that a situation was dangerous and/or worsening, and it would serve as a beacon for any Knights not yet scrambling their way here to follow. They were the first piece that Gale needed here. Fairy Tail was the second.

This man was dangerous, true - but he was also cripplingly idiotic to have started an act of terror and mass murder in the middle of Magnolia, a city both grand and rich and guarded by dutiful Knights who upheld the safety of the city as best they could from the other major defendant and simultaneous vandals of the city. Zealous to a fault and proactive to a worrying degree, Fairy Tail would not stand to see their city be ruined by a mass murder, and neither have they let such things past in the decades before.

They would come, and it was then that Gale would be done with this man.

There was definitely an unknown strength that held him bound even when the course hand that grabbed his head was gentle to the touch. And no matter how much he struggled to look away, face away, he could not avert his eyes as the stranger drew closer to his face and beyond the obscured metal-like mask that he wore, Nanashi could see a pair of eerie golden eyes looking back at him. So focused were they, that he swore he could see his reflections against the pair. And the reflection showed him a frightened expression, a helpless, defenceless self.

“You need not be afraid, child. You are within friends of your kind,” the stranger whispered almost like a chant as the voice, although cool and subtle, was very much intruding. It sent a shiver down his back and it felt like invisible hands held his throat, forcing their way against his flesh. “Nanashi, look closely. You have nothing to fear from me. We are but the same.”

A strange sensation suddenly overcame him. His entire body felt light and cold and shivering, with the hand and the voice now becoming the only warmth that he could seek. But as his eyes would not avert its gaze from the stranger’s piercing gold, he soon found himself drawn in. Ultimately, he found himself surrounded by the woods, left alone, lying on the ground. Then, a shadow would come out from behind the trees, alerting him.

However much instinct would propel Nanashi to attack this unknown figure, right now he didn’t. Instead, his entire body was compelled to stay still, his eyes to follow the figures movement, and his heart to swoon both in sadness and anticipation. It was almost as if he somehow knew this figure, robed in black and kneeling next to him. With a small whine, the boy had curled and embraced the figure who held him close, a hand patting his head and his indiscernible voice seemingly soothing, caring. This felt like a distant memory that washed over the rest.

And so would Nanashi wake up once more in that room, lying on the floor, curled next to the stranger. “There, there, my boy. Everything will be alright. You’re not alone in this world anymore. You’ve found me, at last.”

From the window, Ririka sat by the pane as she watched a signal flare shoot up to the sky. She frowned at the thought of it. “It appears we’ll have to leave soon. But you can’t take him with you like this.”

“Of course, not. His ties to that person is still there. Eventually, it will fade. I must ask you to bring him to Mizhou after this,” said the strange as he beckoned Nanashi to come to a sit before releasing his hold and gently speaking, “We’ll be parting for a brief moment, my child. But in Mizhou we’ll meet again.” And thus, the black mist enveloped them once more and the stranger disappeared before him.

At that, Nanashi looked a bit dumbfounded before he set his eyes to Ririka who was getting ready by the window. “Where is he?” he asked.

“In Mizhou. We’ll have to leave by foot,” she said, retrieving Nanashi’s kimono by the bed and handing it to him. “Be an obedient boy, now, okay, Nanashi?”

He looked down at the kimono, looking at it long and intently, something about it seemed strange, like he was forgetting something important but he nodded nonetheless. “I want to be at father’s side again. I don’t want to be alone,” said as he stood up and wore it.

“Then we best be on our way,” Ririka said as she led them towards the door.

As the messenger would continue to aim and shoot at Gale, he noticed the signal flare. He clicked his tongue at the other’s efforts before a wicked smile graced his lips. “The bounty happens to be both dead or alive, kind sir. So please, why don’t we make this quick?” The crossbow now seemingly charged up before releasing a string of explosive shots in a sweeping arc in hopes to catch the assassin. After which, the messenger teleported closer, throwing away a bystander to clear the path to his target.

It didn't take long for the assassin to realize that Nanashi had been taken, seemingly without any resistance, for there had been no sign of it visually and he had not heard anything of that like over the explosive din and screams of dying people. It didn't surprise Gale, and nor did it drive him into despair, though to Nanashi's persistence he could be credited with a quick "tch" of displeasure from the assassin, mainly stemming from Haruto. The man, closer to a boy in terms of how he acted, was absolutely naive and idiotic when it came to these matters of the world, which was understandable considering the majority of his life was spent sleeping on a bed of moss. That was his excuse, but it still did not change the fact that he was moronic to be strung along by a mercenary named Ririka who worked for a man with less than kind intentions. Or perhaps he viewed Gale as the one with ulterior motives now that they had argued once more?

It was all very interesting and thought provoking for Haru, and less so for Gale, while Aki simply wished for people to stop getting hurt in general, but in the face of an explosive crossbow bolt being shot in his general direction every now and then, it would have to be content with taking a backseat to Gale's current priority of not dying from exploding on the inside. Which they had almost done several times already, much to their persistent success in dodging these very attempts of killing them. For a man who remembered quite clearly that Gale's bounty was valid either alive or dead, he focused quite vehemently on the assassin being dead. A smart choice, and arguably the correct one, since there was little doubt that Gale would do his utmost to escape if he was ever captured.

If only this man was as dumb as he was insane.

Running at full-pelt through the crowds as if the bodies parted before him, the assassin wove through the masses of panicked people stampeding to get as far away from a threat they could not trace, but was definitely present. Unfortunately for them, their bodies served as the exact form of shielding that the assassin needed at this moment, with his pursuer's bolts relentlessly piercing into their bodies before detonating in destructive blasts that shock the very foundation of Magnolia's older buildings nearby. A near miss from another bolt struck the walls of a house and exploded, collapsing it and crushing a trio escaping the scene near it, and a different bolt punctured a water main in the streets after gouging out a chunk from the cobblestone roads. Already the body count was in the dozens, and if it kept on going like this it would only serve to increase. Thankfully for Magnolia, it wouldn't be long.

The assassin burst through the crowd, leaping as he ran and spinning in midair so that he planted his feet on the side of a building for a brief moment before launching himself off of that building, summoning and drawing his blade in a clean movement. Hurtling through the air at speeds untraceable for average men, he slashed at the bounty hunter as he passed, rolling onto the roads afterwards, and promptly disappeared from sight, melding into his shadow and dashing into cover in the masses. And for good reason too - for it was but a split second later that a series of magical blasts struck at the bounty hunter, and a series of armored men rushed into the square. Fairy Tail and the Knights, working together as they were wont in these cases.

The chase was over now.

There was visibly a disturbance in the town as they exited the small inn. Nanashi spared a moment to look over the sky, ears sharpening, nose sniffing about. He could sense danger, smell the scent of blood in the air, and the sound of distraught. He was about to follow his instincts when he was stopped by Ririka, a firm grip on his arm. He looked back to her with a defiant glare, which only made her smirk and tease him, “Are you worried about that man?”

Nanashi turned away from such words and withdrew his arm from her with ease. “I simply follow what my heart tells me,” he said, taking a step forward before looking up once again as an explosion rocked the streets. It felt like it was nearby.

Almost at once, he ran into the streets just as his instincts called for. Ririka was left feeling exasperated at the charge she now given before she took to the streets as well. Though she couldn’t really tell what prompted her to keep up with the job, she seemed quite inclined to see it through. Perhaps, it was just the curious case of this wildling.

He made past the panicking individuals that ran through the once festive streets of Magnolia, until Nanashi finally saw a glimpse of the assassin. He was about to draw out his blades, when he saw that signature leapt of the latter, and in midair, he witnessed the assassin perform that deadly strike of his. Quite the graceful sight, but he quickly became on guard as he saw knights coming in to the square, followed by a sharp progression of magical aura nearby– mages showing themselves and crowding around. And in their arrival brought a multiple of explosions all around the bounty hunter’s body.

“See? Nothing to worry about,” said the female mercenary who seemingly easily found him, now clothed in a traveler’s cloth to hide her appearance. She stayed a hand on his that had gripped the hilt of his blade. “We have nothing to do here. Don’t make your old man wait, now.”

He spared her a glance of annoyance before he looked back at the scene as if trying to spot the assassin once more. But with the rushing crowd and the ever growing number of knights and mages off to subdue that target of theirs, it was too difficult to make out anything. So he would follow the mercenary as they walked away from the scene, almost the only pair who moved with calmness and certainty, even for him who was most likely to get lost if left to his own devices. And with each step he took, he felt like he was leaving something, forgetting more, and it irked him. And unknowingly, he was raging that his aura had for a moment felt like a murderous one, before Ririka reeled him in once more, holding his hand, commenting that he was truly naive and then casting a strange spell on him to calm his senses as they would leave through the city gates.
