"Place feels kinda' empty, huh Persies...?~" "Caaw.~" //Aye.~// Jaxus laid back on his bed, elbows outstretched and palms back behind his head, looking to the ceiling of his room in downtown Poinsettia, Persies fluffed up resting on a pillow beside him. Though he hadn't seen Jason in a long time, Jaxus had managed to somehow pick up the payments for the bar. Thankfully, the guild was assisting as his middle man, making Jaxus' payments when he was absent using a reserve of funds from his missions. But that was slowly coming to an end, which meant he needed to take another mission soon, or open the bar back up if he wanted to keep things held down in Jason's place. //Miss ya' bro, hope yer' alright...// Remembering Jason's kind offer of allowing his to stay, Jaxus took a deep breath, feeling rather nostalgic, yet, the memory of those days brought on a smile. "Hey Persies, how bout' we clean the place up? We can try an' re-open the bar tomorrow if we work hard!~" "Caa-Caa-Caw?" //Why should I?// "Cuz' once the bar's open, we're gonna' celebrate. Don'cha want'a feast?~" "Caaw?!" //Feast?!// "That's more like it, come'on!~" Jaxus chuckled in an amused fashion, knowing that would catch his partners attention. Rearing his legs up and extending his arms, Jaxus flung himself to an upright position before twisting in his seat, popping to his feet with an excited smile. It'd get in the way of his traveling, but it could actually be kind of fun to manage the bar.~ Making their way downstairs, Jaxus began juggling a multitude of tasks with a childish amusement, from polishing counters and bottles, to throwing out expired products, and washing down the tables, all with the help of his avian friend. "Heh, might even be able ta' open it tonight at this rate.~" "Caa-Caw?~" //Think so?~// Other than the dust, lack of cooking ingredients, or a chef for that matter, the alcohol was mostly still good and the Lacryma-Vision screens were still in working order. If anything, this gave him a great distraction from shining silver shards in his right arm. After all, worrying never solved anything.~ Though, this lack of worry was sometimes not the greatest trait at times, an example of being how he never bothered to lock the bar down when he was there. He was a Blue Pegasus mage, after all, so he was more than sure he could fend off any potential thieves. |

Perhaps it was fortune, perhaps misfortune. Perhaps the young idealist merely had a nose for fun, or more accurately, a nose for trouble. Perhaps it was fate that lead to the innocuous intrusion, or, perhaps, mere childish curiousity. Regardless of the cause, the result was the same. While following her ears, Arianna was lead to climbing a tree in search of a bird's nest. The sound of bluebirds chirping had piqued her interest, as she was unable to see any of the creatures among the thick foliage from her previous vantage point on the ground. Was the tree haunted, or were there really birds hidden in the leafy growth? While fumbling through the leaves along one of the trees many lengthy branches, the cat-eyed girl's feet slipped on a wet patch of wood, fresh from recent rain. Crash! the sound of seventy pounds of little girl slamming through a window immediately followed, and the brown-and-pink haired girl came shakily to her feet in an unfamiliar place. It seemed to be... some sort of fancy cafe for adults? |

Not a complaint in the world for the menial labor, Jaxus like usual was in a childishly ecstatic mood. Even if it was abit boring, it didn't have to be if he thought of it as a game. As he hadn't spent much time at the bar, he never really bothered to clean it up, but with Jason still gone, giving it a go seemed like a good idea. "This really ain't so bad, ey Persies?~ Heheh.~" "Caa-Ca-Caaw.~" //Ain't so bad.~// Wiping down the bar with a goofy smile, Jaxus couldn't believe it was going so smoothly. For the first time in a long time, the bar looked like it was returning to it's former glory..... Crash! "A-AIIEE!" "CAA-CAAAW!" As relaxed as they were, neither expected the sudden crash, or intrusion into the property, causing them both to yell in surprise. As the two found the source of the sound, Jaxus was equally surprised as he was confused as he found a brown and pink haired little girl had crashed through this window. "Woah! Are you alright?!" Jaxus rushed up to Ari, but noticing she looked abit shaky, quickly perceived the situation and slowed down, taking a deep breath to calm his own panic. "Are ya' injured? My name's Jaxus, I got a first aid kit round' here somewhere if yer' hurt." Looking out the window, Jaxus was perplexed to find no one approaching the window, raising a discerning eyebrow in concern. "Ey, where are yer' parents by the way?" While he had been so excited to start the bar up again, the first thing on his mind was the well being and safety of the girl that just shattered his window. "Caw-Caa-Ca-Caaw...?" //Jaxus, feast still...?// //Not now, Persies.// And the first thing on his avian friend's mind was, of course, their promised feast, concerned that the deal would be delayed due to the new hole in their window. The sound of sudden screams of terror reached Arianna's ears, and her kneejerk reaction was instantaneous. "Eek!" If they were scared of something, and it was obviously an adult's voice, then obviously something scary had just happened. Looking for the source of whatever had caused such a fright, Arianna's head tilted one way and then another, looking around for the source of the spooks. "I'm good." Despite her claim, Arianna's forearms were covered with small cuts, though none were particularly deep. They would almost certainly heal by themselves at any rate, though chances were high that they would leave faint scars for a while. The young girls shoulders lifted in a shrug at Jaxus' continued query. It was one she heard often enough, but what would be most noteworthy was the tone in her response - complete indifference. "No idea. Haven't seen them for... two years now?" The exchange between the young man and his bird then captured her full attention, and she stared at the unusual specimen with open curiousity. "You can talk with birds? That's pretty cool." |

Jaxus had initially been quite perplexed by the girl's reaction, and while her initial scare was understandable, the way she inquisitively looked around the room was abit odd at first, looking to Ari with equal parts concern and confusion. "Oh, thank goodness.~" As Ari assured she was good, Jaxus let out a deep sigh of relief, taking note of the lack of any heavy wounds. It was probably for the best anyway, as Jaxus usually only treated Persies and himself as needed during their adventures. As she went on to describe she hadn't seen her parents in over two years, both Jaxus and Persies looked to her, cocking their head to the side as they listened. What caught Jaxus the most, however, was the indifference in her voice. While curious, he also didn't have the place to ask either. The thought however, discomforted him, closing his eyes and bringing his left hand over his chin, seemingly deep in thought. He had been traveling for two years now, and a good part of that journey was alone, without Persies. Things were hard on your own, he knew that all too well. "Ca-Caa-Caaw..." //Jaxus, their arms...// "Huh?" Jaxus turned to Persies, before looking back to Ari, taking note of the minor, small cuts. "E-eeeh? Oh, ya' think so?~" As Ari observantly realized the two could could, Jaxus couldn't help but chuckle, giving a cheeky grin, rubbing the back of his neck with his left arm. "Well, ta' be honest, I only speak Persies here.~ Oh, right!~ Her name's Persies.~ Sorry partner.~" Jaxus looked to Persies with an innocent smile after introducing Ari them his avian friend, to where she only rolled her eyes and gave a huff. "Ca-Caa-Caaa-Caaw..." //I want four servings now...// "Fine, fine, anyway..." Looking back to Ari, Jaxus gathered his wits, rather disorganized from the strange day. "You might wanna' wash yer' arms off, ya' know, ta' prevent infection and all.~ What's yer' name if ya' don't mind me askin'?" Jaxus gently motioned to the sink behind the bar counter, thinking in terms of prevention. He'd feel incredibly guilty if the little girl got an infection from the broken glass in the bar. "I wonder where the broom is..." "Caa-Caaw-Caw?" //Do we even have one?// As Jaxus mumbled to himself, Persies quickly brought a piercing question to mind. "...Nope..." It looked like it was going to be loooong day. Edited by SilverRush, Jul 8 2016, 12:01 AM.

"What's goodness gotta do with it? Did goodness do somethin' nice?" Arianna regarded the gray-haired old geezer. curiously.. wait, what was an old geezer doing with such a young looking face? Thoroughly confusing, and by extension, quite rude. You should either be young or old, being both was just not fair to young people. Or to old people for that matter. Still, she wasn't sure exactly how she could tell him about how rude it was without being rude herself. Quite a dilemma. Clearing her throat, the young girl puffed herself up as if she was about to deliver a speech in front of an audience - not entirely inaccurate, in a way, but perhaps not entirely her intention. It was quite easy to see that her method of expressing herself was... somewhat less than conventional. "Ooh, I can do that too. Look! ~Ca-aw ca-caw caw cawww~ // goldfish terrorist extremists ate break my cheese // So now you and Persies know mine, what's your name, friend?" Arianna inquired, twirling once on the spot before leaning over as if to see the silver-haired boy more clearly. Of course, with the distance between them, such a small adjustment was roughly as effective at improving her vision as her 'introduction' had been in clarifying her identity. |

"Eh...?" Jaxus tilted his head to the side as Ari questioned what goodness had to do with it, leaving him abit confused as he attempted to mentally wrap his head around the question. If anything, he wasn't used to dealing with people younger than himself. Yet and still, with the young girl having not talked to her parents in two years as she claimed, it'd be awfully unheroic to turn the other eye. After all, hero's were supposed to help people for everything, not just some big crisis and saving the day...right? As Jaxus attempted to formulate a reply, he noticed the girl clearing her throat and puffing herself up, seemingly wishing to state something important, causing Jaxus to raise an eyebrow, finding himself curious as to what she intended to say. Yet, perhaps abit anti dramatically, instead she seemed to find an interest with Persies, and the way she communicates. "Ca-Caaw-Caaw!" In response, Persies flapped her wings in an excited manner, causing Jaxus to tilt his head towards his avian friend. //You actually understood that pard'ner...?// //...Nope. Something about goldfish extremists and cheese though...?// //Welp...// Taking a chair from a nearby table and sliding it closer, Jaxus sat down to better converse on a more level elevation, before turning to Ari with a gentle, kind smile. "Aye, it's glad ta' meet'cha, Persies said so as well.~ My name's Jaxus, I'mma mage of Blue Pegasus and own the bar here...well, kinda...It's a long story." Turning up his head to look at the ceiling, scratching his chin, feeling nostalgic thinking about his days with Jason, Jaxus still wondered where they left off to...But as of right now, he had a guest, and it'd perhaps be rude to get caught up in such thoughts right now. "Anyway, uh, this is kinda' embarrassing for me to say but like..." Jaxus looked to Persies with a slow motion, then back to Ari, his finger rubbing his cheek as he attempted to figure out Ari's name without being directly rude. "Well, my bird speak's abit rusty, and "Persies ain't explainin' it right." "Ca-Ca-Caaw!" //H-Hey, what?!// "Eh, not my fault I don't get it.~" Turning back to Ari, Jaxus shrugged with a playful smile, shaking his head as if to further imply he was being sincere with his bird. "Anyway, Persies can't translate it well, sorry.~ Think I'd be able ta' ask yer' name ta' where I can understand?" //You owe me a big meal later, Jaxus...// //Yeah, yeah...~// Somehow, Jaxus had came up with a half decent solution to ask Ari her name, without seeming too rude to their new guest, somehow managing a sincere tone. After all, he really didn't learn her name yet. Guess he wasn't entirely hopeless with socializing after all. Though, as Persies ruffled her feathers in annoyance for being an accessory to this plan, it was perhaps abit obvious she was abit peeved at him. |

Arianna observed with a calm and seemingly understanding expression as Jaxus and Persies interacted with each other in response to her greeting. Of course, she hadn't the slightest clue what they were jabbering on about, and it was rude to speak in a language that someone didn't understand right in front of them, but she decided to pretend that she could understand so that they wouldn't feel bad about their terrible manners. It was the same concept as telling someone that was meeting up with you that you hadn't had to wait at all, even if you'd been sitting there waiting for hours. It was just what people did (in manga). "Is Blue Pegasus the name of the bar, then?" Arianna inquired with genuine curiousity. She had never heard of someone naming a bar after a flying horse before, but if what she had heard various drunken adults talking about was true, beer tasted like horse pee and it was undoubtedly an appropriate and shockingly honest name for such an institution. Arianna's eyes followed Jaxus' up towards the ceiling, though she couldn't understand what it was he was looking for. As far as she could tell, there was only the ceiling up there, not any kinds of glasses or other hidden treasure. Then again, it wouldn't exactly be hidden treasure if you could see it at a glance, would it? "Is that... When was the last time you washed the ceiling, Mr. Jaxus?" On closer investigation, she was fairly sure that she could see the beginning of the onset of mold up there. So it was true... boys really were worse than girls about cleaning their rooms. Big sis had always said so, but she'd never had the chance to see it for herself. "Only a poor craftsman blames his tools. Persies' explanation was probably just fine." Ari made a decision, then, and it wasn't one that would be easy to explain. Of course, her decision was interrupted by the sound of a door creaking open, and the girl disappeared behind the counter faster than you could say 'snack time'. Two men entered the bar with serious, stern expressions, glancing one way and then another as if looking for something, before finally making their way over to where Jaxus sat. "Have you seen anyone suspicious in today? We're looking for a thief that's been targetting this neighborhood recently, and just got a tip that there were some unusual noises coming from somewhere around here," the man explained. From his tone of barely restrained frustration, it sounded likely that he himself had been targeted at some point. |
