Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

“Or so you claim,” retorted Vento, his eyes almost rolling from such a cliché answer that he – in his almost two years of working as a field researcher investigating old ruins, ancient cities, and abandoned sites – had come to doubt with almost as much intensity as the occasional claim jumper who would steal their find under threat of hostile action. In his eyes, the methods may be different, but the goals were the same, albeit taking the less amicable method of obtaining information at gunpoint would have been much faster. Still, if the other man truly did mean what he said, then there was only one way to find out.

Going back to his note-taker’s bag which he laid out on the floor, Vento retrieved a small spherical lacrima gilded in brass couplings that connected to a three-inch silver rod at the bottom, making the device look like an ornate hand-held microphone. Once done, he threw it over to the other man and thereafter sealed up his note-taker’s bag before returning his scrutinizing gaze back at the unwanted follower he was seemingly stuck with for the duration of his stay in the Genie’s Lamp.

Packing up his things, Vento glanced at the ancient writings one more while addressing the other man at the same time. “If what you say is true, then you can help me out with my research. I am trying to learn a thing or two about this place right here, and the writing here tells us that we can learn more about its past by ‘experiencing it’,” Vento explained. “I reckon this entails reliving memories either physically or in a dream-like state, but whatever it may be, this is your chance to prove the veracity of your statement.”

Vento continued his point, his fingers already in the middle of tracing one of the control runes that would activate the spell to the system. He only needed to decode a few more symbols before everything would start up. “What you have there is a recorder lacrima – I assume you know how to use one. You will be the one to hold it up to record auditory of everything that will be going on once the system starts,” the scholar clarified, “and once everything is done, we can leave. Of course you will be compensated for your services, mind you, but it is nothing compared to what you may get if you reach the end of this cave.”

The last portion was a trick question, of course. An appeal to greed in the face of a situation where a decision demanded to be made in an instant almost always allowed Vento to see the true worth of people’s statements; this was one of those times. It was not in any way unfair to them since Vento was simply just stripping any illusion of amity and supposed scholarliness from peoples’ facades and presented them and their true agendas in front of his crimson eyes that desire to see only the truth.

“Hurry up and decide; I am almost done with the runic codes. Unknown history or unclaimed wealth – you can only pick one or the other.”

“Oh I do claim,” Dash said brightly, not at all unnerved by the fact that the man doubted him. In fact, he seemed a little delighted that the man did and a bit eager to prove him wrong. Doubt from other people was something Dash was getting accustomed to and also something he was happy to remove from the minds of others.

He almost didn't notice his travel companion toss something at him, being so engrossed in his own thoughts for a minute, that he barely was able to catch it. Looking it over Dash's face changed quickly from joyous to confused. He had never used a device like this and did not know how to operate it. "I could probably figure it out Arnold but I don't want to break it. Yes, Tim, that would be bad because it's not ours. No, I would not cry. No, I'm not crying now, that's you!"

Grunting in frustration with the multitude of thoughts that were now invading his mind, Dash turned the device over in his hand still trying to work out how it operated. He barely even heard what the other man said, occasionally catching words when he bothered to try and pay attention. "Relive past got ya. Physical or dream-like. Veracity, yep yep," Dash said, simply repeating the words he heard to make it seem like he was paying attention.

His focus changed when his friend mentioned the device he held. "Recorder lacrima that's cool. I have no idea how to use it, though. First time every holding one actually." An embarrassed smile crept on Dash's face as he rubbed the back of his head.

"Unknown history sounds like fun. Also, I get to use this thing,"
Dash thrust the recorder lacrima out in front of him happily.

The thought of bringing along what seemed to be an insane man with a penchant for talking to himself as if addressing different people was not as big of a problem to Vento more than his worry that the man’s blatant admittance of his unfamiliarity with the device would cost him the trouble of going through the entire experience, whatever it might entail. He did not want to waste precious time since the six-hour forced teleportation spell inside the Genie’s Lamp applied to the stranger. If he wanted to make the most out of the time he had in the ruins, the scholar needed to be efficient and address even the simplest issues before they turn into problems.

“Just turn the lacrima ball clockwise to turn it on and counter-clockwise to turn it off; anyone can do it, and I suggest that you do it as well since we are about to go,” he spoke in a monotone voice just as he traced the last rune on the stone command module which activated the system with a discernably audible click.

At once, the floor beneath the two shone in a brilliant aquamarine color that engulfed the entire atrium in a sea of light, the darkness verily pushed back until nothing but radiance remained. However, despite what should have been a room too bright to see anything, it was only the scenery that had been erased; Vento and his companion were still visible to each other as if only they existed in the entirety of space and time.

Almost as quickly as their entire world became inundated in blue light, the same color disappeared and revealed an entirely different space which made it hard to believe that the two of them were just in a cave a while ago. The atrium was not the musty, dimly-lit underground reception hall it had been, but was a pristine and beautiful court that had been part of a larger construct that situated itself on ground-level where people freely walked its paths as if it were a gigantic station.

Men, women, and children dressed in finery and white robes walked along the streets with smiles plastered on their faces, pointing at the entryway of the Genie’s Lamp which advertised itself in their ancient runic as the ‘Ministerium der Arkanen Wissenschaft’ – the Ministry of Arcane Sciences.

Vento’s eyes widened in pleasant surprise, astounded that such an ancient civilization had come to possess such a high degree of arcane knowledge to effectively bring to life a moment in their time with such clarity that it made the raven-haired researcher feel as if he were living it out himself. In fact, had he not noticed that the people around him passed through his physical form, he could swear that they were true-to-life individuals who lived and breathed as much as they had right now, at least in Vento’s case, who was ecstatic that he was experiencing an extremely rare opportunity to witness a forgotten portion of history unfold before his very eyes.

In hindsight, the scholar addressed the other man who held the recorder. “Look here and bear witness to a technological marvel once thought impossible, even with our level of arcana-tech. A lot of people would kill to be in your shoes right now, so feel proud that you are here to experience this once-in-a-lifetime chance to relive the past.”

Listening to his new friend's instructions on how to operate the device in his hand Dash nodded. Carefully he turned the device clockwise to activate it.

His face showed great surprise and amusement as the ground beneath the two lit up in an aquamarine color. Looking around he noticed that the scenery was gone and all that stood before him was his traveling companion. “Well this is neat,” Dash said, though his voice did not carry any hint of the excitement that his face did. Instead, it sounded almost bored.

When the color disappeared and they were now standing inside the pristine court Dash nodded as if he had come to an understanding. “So this is what it looked like back in the past. Why yes I do believe it is quite lovely Viola. Yes even lovelier than you Lisa. Well, considering you don’t have a face that’s not very hard to accomplish. I know your item is well polished and pretty but it does not compare to this. Stop yelling at me!”

The most surprising thing about the trip though was the man across from him reaction. He had expected the scholar to keep a straight-laced face as he had done so far. Instead, the man had a reaction of surprise something that took Dash a bit of getting used to.

“Oh, I’m so very proud to be here. No Lisa I don’t think he’s bossy. Well, he’s right a lot of people would kill to be here right now so I should feel some pride. Arnold, I will not punch him in the face.” Glancing at his new friend Dash rubbed the back of his head, embarrassed at the conversation that played out in his head.

Carefully Dash reached out to one of the individuals that walked the court. He watched as his hand passed through them, a look of utter delight befalling his face. He swiped his hand through the air a multitude of times, allowing it to pass through several individuals. “This is the best thing ever.”
