The girl didn't seem concerned about whether her magic would be effective against Varriden, even going so far as to laugh off his bit of advice about the lack of effectiveness. She did raise a good point, though. "I suppose that's a fair point." Varriden said. "No point in using that rain again when it didn't work the first time." And a bonus for me if she happens to uncap a new spell every time she sees me, Varriden thought to himself. She uncorked another vial, making a quip about the weather before the cloud overhead crackled. Ah, now I see what she's planning, Varriden thought, turning on his Decipher again. If she can control the weather via those perfumes, then it makes sense that most weather-related conditions would be feasible with her abilities - after all, the rain cloud, while easily dispelled, actually was a decent bit of magic. Before the spell could strike down at Varriden however, it suddenly broke apart, though not from lack of trying. Varriden glanced over to where the girl had been, only to see faint puffs of dust, already vanishing in the wind. Varriden walked over to see a hole in the ground - apparently the floor had given way, being part of the ruins themselves and wooden, not more reliable dirt and stone to stand on. The girl herself seemed unhurt, having had the fortune of landing on an old couch of some kind. "An impressive spell name, I'll grant you, but shouldn't it be 'lightning tempo'?" Varriden said from above. "And on another note, are you hurt?" Edited by Balmung6, Jun 28 2016, 11:27 PM.

Marilyn found herself in one piece as she duested herself off the sofa. She fell through an old trapdoor that gave up on her before she could even see the man being electricuted by her spell. As she heard him telling her that her spell should be called Lightning Tempo, she realized that she failed to hit him. Before she could respond to that, the guy asked her if she's okay. This calmed her down a bit. "I-I-I think so..." She said as she looked up to him. When she realized what she just did, her anger flamed up again. "You tricked me! You tricked me into using an offensive spell knowing that it would sent me down this old place. You saw the trapdoor below me!" She accused him, pointing at him. "Get me out of this place, now!" She told him angrily. "What is this place anyway?" She said as he seemed to be ignoring her need of his help. The place was dark. She looked around, beside the sofa was a match and an old candle on top of a candle holder. Marilyn lit the candle. It lighten up the dark place a bit and she realized it was some kind of a lobby or something. There were old books on the walls and a table full of old mission leaflets. Opposite to the books was a board, some mission leaflets were pinned to it. Some were scattered on the floor. [Colof=#ff1493]"Wait a second, this must be the guild master's old study?"[/color] She said as she picked up a paper, bearing a face of a criminal they were bound to catch. Upon looking at the picture, Marilyn suddenly saw it staring bacj at her. Seconds after, the picture screamed at her. All at once, the paper moved around her. They were circling her that Marilyn had nothing to do but yelled. "Aaaaaahhhhhhhhh...........PAPER! Help! AHHHHHHH!!!!!" She yelled more as the papers shaped themselves into small biting paper creature. |

Thankfully, the girl seemed unharmed by her fall, but also seemed to think he had somehow been the cause of her fall through the trapdoor. "Having you fall through a trap door triggered by offensive spells would require me having been here before. Even if I DID know that trapdoor was triggered by offense magic, I would have had to know you'd come here, know you have offensive magic, and know you might stand on or near the trapdoor itself. I'm flattered you think I'm that much of a master planner, but I'm afraid the perpetrator of your fall is plain old-fashioned bad luck." Varriden said plainly. "And I would, but at the time, I don't see a way back up to here from there," Varriden said, glancing around what little of the room he could see from up above. "Though I imagine there must be SOME way to get back up here from down there, since you seem to be sitting on a couch, so it stands to reason someone carried it down there at some point using stairs." Granted, could have rotted away by now, if they're wood, but no need to enflame her anger further with what ifs, Varriden thought. Her comments as she looked around caught his interest, though. If that's the guild master's old study hall, then it might have documents about their magic and research, Varriden thought, pondering briefly if it was worth jumping down there to check when there wasn't a clear path out just yet. Unfortunately, the decision was more or less made for him when he heard the girl scream - the papers she'd been looking at had sprung to life, and were now circling her like a swarm of bats. Oh, for god's sake, Varriden thought, leaping down through the trapdoor, landing on the couch and bouncing off it to land somewhat unsteadily on the floor near the girl. He raised a hand and a rune that resembled a clock face appeared on it, pulsing just once. Suddenly, all the paper froze in place in the air, each suddenly bearing marking across their surface akin to the rune Varriden had used. Varriden walked up and pushed some of the paper out of the way, the paper unmoving as he did so, like someone pushing a cube of ice across a glass with a straw. "That should hold them for now, but best we move to a different room for the time being, wouldn't you agree?" Varriden said. |

Marilyn realized that the guy couldn't have done what she had accused him. Neither of them knew that the trapdoor was there. As she was now checking out the place aftwr dusting herself off, papers within the room started to fly around her. Soon enough, they folded themselves into a shape of a mouth with fangs. They startef snapping towards her. Marilyn didn't know what to do. Her rain tempo could be useful right now. But the papers were very frightening that she was too distracted to perform the spell. She then felt someone fell on the couch and landed beside her. Mairlyn then saw the guy who raised his hand and conjured rune above them. It stopped the papers from snappin and moving, as if they were suspended on air. The guy then said that it should hold them for now. "For now? You mean they will chase us down again once your spell wears off!" She said as she looked at the papers floating around her. "We should go now and find our way out of this place." She told him as she walked towards the door. It was locked from their side so Marilyn switched the small button in the middle of the knob and unlocked it. As soom as she opened the door, dust greeted her. The blonde diva coughed a bit and covered her mouth and nose with her white fur. It was dark outside the room. She heard something walking outside which made her froze in fear for a bit of time. She quickly went towards the guy who saved her from the papers and hold his arms. "I'm quite afraid of what could be lurking out there. So I'm not walking outside this place without you on the lead." She said as she urged him to go before her. "Please..." She added, trying to persuade him by hugging his arm to her chest as she smiled innocently at him. |

"Why yes, of course they will," Varriden said, looking almost perplexed. "The spell is useful for stopping things for a few minutes, but it can hardly stop them forever. That would require a great deal of magical power. Not to mention some form of proximity between me and whatever being or object whose time I had frozen. Far too bothersome, even if it was feasible. Though I suspect that, since the papers only bared their fangs at you when you got close - no pun intended - they will likely be disoriented when they snap out of the spell, and most likely revert to their former inanimate state. But you are correct, staying here is not the best idea, as otherwise, the spell will wear off with us right where we were before it was cast, and then we're back to square one." Varriden walked towards the nearby door with Marilyn, as hopping back up the trap door wasn't an option - a perfume mage was unlikely to have a jumping spell, and Varriden's own options weren't meant to carry two people. The couch below the trapdoor was a fortunate landing, but unfortunately, the couch had lost much of its springiness, so bouncing off that and back out the trapdoor wasn't an option, either. Well, I came here to explore the ruins anyway, Varriden thought, even if it's not starting quite as smoothly as I would have hoped. Varriden held his arm over his face as the dust flew in from the next door, the blonde girl coughing slightly. If she keeps shielding herself from the dust with that white fur, she's going to be carrying quite a lot of it back with her, Varriden thought, but it was her decision, after all. They both paused, however, when they heard something walking around outside. The blonde girl asked Varriden to go first, to inspect what had made the noise, even going so far as to hug his arm. "I suppose I can go look, provided you release my arm so I can move." Varriden said. Odd, he thought as he stepped into the hallway, peering through the murk of dusty air to see what the commotion was about. She gets angry about a dress and suddenly it's storming indoors, but sound of walking and suddenly she's eager to remain in the rearguard. I guess that near-miss with the paper spooked her more than she cared to admit, Varriden thought. Edited by Balmung6, Jul 28 2016, 08:36 PM.

Marilyn was glad that the man did not push her away. She was really terrified with what happened to the papers. His arm was being hugged by her right now. The blonde diva had no plan of letting go of it. Even though she was huggin it close to her chest. She was now eager to leave this place before the papers start snapping at her again. "Come on now. And slowly. And don't push me, because you will go with me as well. I am not letting go of you." She asked demandingly. The two of them went out of the room and into the corridor that was somehow illuminated by a light that was coming from the door at the end of it. It was greenish light. Marilyn didn't like it. There were several stray stuffs on the floor. Most of it were old stuffs. Some were broken pieces of china. The blonde diva pressed herself towards the guy as they walked towards the door where the light came from. She had her eyes on the floor when she felt something moving on her shoulder. She turned towards her shoulder and saw a small black spider wiggling and hanging from its web. "Eeeehhhhhkkk!!!!" She yelled as she went behind the guy and hugged him, pushing him towards the spider. "Kill it! Kill it! Kill it!" She panicked as she pressed herself closer to his back, not caring how close she is to the guy. |

Though he agreed to go look if she let go, she seemed to want the best of both worlds, as she insisted that he check it out, but also that she wasn't going to let go of his arm anytime soon. That sentiment would almost seem sweet if it hadn't been said in such a demanding tone, Varriden thought. "I suppose I'll make do, just be sure you don't hamper my spellcasting in the event I need to cast something in a hurry again. Otherwise you're liable to get caught up in the effects, and with you physically holding my arm, that would be bad for both of us." The next room wasn't as well-lit as the last one - whereas the last room had a sun-roof of sorts from the light that had been pouring in from the trapdoor above that the girl had fallen through, this room wasn't as fortunate, only having the light was whatever source of illumination was in the room beyond this one that was flickering through the open doorway, visible at the far end of the hall, illuminating the duo and sparse flecks of dust floating harmlessly on the air, disturbed by their entrance into the room, and likely, whatever else was down here - she might have been freaked out by it, but the girl had a point in that something had to have made that noise. Then the girl screamed - he looked to his side only to see the girl gone, because she had already moved behind him and was pushing him towards what was freaking her out, which seemed to be a small, black spider. I get that alot of people are squeamish around insects and arachnids, but this kind isn't even poisonous, Varriden thought, reaching up and pinching the web strand the spider was hanging from and dropping it to the floor, where the spider crawled away through a hole in one of the floorboards near the wall. "There. Gone. Everything better now?" Varriden asked, one eyebrow raised as he glanced over his shoulder at the girl. He would have turned to look at her properly, but with her hugging him, he couldn't pull that one off. |

Marilyn was hugging Varriden tight from behind as she closed her eyes, afraid that the spider will get close to her. She felt him moved a bit. But she didn't hear a crashing sound. Did he really kill it? He told her it was gone as she slowly opened her eyes from behind him and peeked in front of him. There was no spider hanging from its web anymore. Marilyn then straightened herself as she went to his side and hugged his arm once again. "Oh! Well, let's go now." She said as she hold tight unto him as they proceed towards the door. Marilyn kept on walking with him as she avoided to step on stray things on the floor. The green light becoming brighter as they approached the room. "Well, since we are stuck with each other, I will introduce myself. I am Marilyn Monroe by the way. And as you already know, I am a perfume wizard. A weather-perfume wizard." She said as she tried to sound friendly to him. After all, she had no choice but to stick with him to get out of here. "And you are?" She inquired for his name. The blonde diva seemed to have become fond of him for a short period of time. As she looked closer at him, she realized that he's a good-looking guy. But he seemed to not care about his appearance. "You look cute up close. I wanna snug you." Marilyn said jokingly as she kept herself close to him as possible in case snapping papers went their way again. |

Varriden didn't think that the girl would let go once the spider was gone, given that she'd freaked out even more the moment it had appeared - though in fairness, she'd been freaking out over one thing after another since the moment she fell down here - and he was correct, as she quickly moved back to hugging his arm close once she saw that the spider was no longer a concern. At least she's not clinging to my back anymore, Varriden thought. The room slowly got brighter as they walked, avoiding the occasional bit of debris, and thankfully didn't run into any more living papers or random spiders. The girl introduced herself as they walked, though the irony of having a girl hanging on your arm but not knowing her name was not lost on Varriden. "My name's Varriden Stone, a pleasure to meet you, miss Marilyn. And I did see the perfume part of the magic - I'm guessing you use the perfume in those vials as a medium for casting your spells?" Varriden said, gesturing to the vials. Surprisingly, she even flirted with him. "Well, I'd say you've already gotten a headstart on that," Varriden said back in a similar joking tone, gesturing to the arm of his that she was hugging. "And since you were kind enough to tell me yours, my own magic is Archive magic, being able to copy and mimic the spells of other mages. That spell that I used to stop the papers back there," Varriden added, gesturing back down the hall, towards the room they'd fallen in through, "Was actually a spell I learned while helping a time mage recover some stolen research documents awhile back." |

Before telling Marilyn his name, Varriden talked to her about her magic. He asked her if she was using her vials of perfume as a medium for her magic. Marilyn saw no harm in telling him about it, given that he is trustworthy. He didn't even lay a hand on her even if she attempted to hit him with her thunder perfume. "Yes. You are right. I'm using the perfumes. I combined their properties with each oher to create effects such as the rain and the thunder earlier." She told him. The blonde diva flirted with him which he didn't take seriously. He even hinted her that she was already close to him for her to snug him. "If you don't mind..." She said as she smiled at him. Suddenly, she pressed her lips against him for a brief moment. She smiled at him again as she pulled her face away. "Well, that was lovely." She said as she went on walking beside him. Marilyn then learned his name. Varriden Stone. And he is an archive mage. He even told her where he copied that freezing spell he used on the snapping papers. "Oooohhhh, you are one talented wizard Varriden. Do you mind if I call you Varry?" Marilyn said as she winked at him. "I never met an archive mage ever. And to kiss one." She said heartily. "Well, I'm the only perfume wizard out there too. So you're quite lucky to be kissed by me." She teased him. "No one had ever perfected a perfume that affects the weather. To control the weather at my disposal, I consider myself precious. It is up to me if I want it to be sunny or rainy." She told him. "So tell me Varry, what brings you here?" She asked him as she remembered him looking for an entrance to this place a while ago. "Are you looking for spells?" She asked him. |
