Alekis nodded at Rusias words as the private aimed and fired. As soon as the first man dropped to his knees Alekis moved. The sound of the pistol going off until it was empty. Alekis leaped over Rusia like a savage wolf. Landing on the first man he planted hands and feet on the mans chest and kicked off. Sending the man sprawling to the floor while Alekis back flipped. His feet hit the ceiling and pushed off. With a savage roar he elbow planted his full weight in the down guards sternam. Landing he rolled back as a heavy club whipped for his head. Crouching, he grinned then raised his right hand. Electricity crackled on his fingers before a platinum yellow bolt shot from his fingers and hit the club wielder in the face. A sudden force hit Alekis in the chest throwing him back and through the door into the hallway. Slumping forward he looked up as one guard smirked, wind circling around his hand. The others standing behind him. Alekis pulled himself up and rolled his shoulders. Eyes locked on the big wind mage with a manic intensity. Lightning sparked up and down his arms, popping the air. Alekis pulled back one arm as electricity covered his hand...and kicked forward. A thick piece of wood from the door kicked towards the wind mages face who knocked it aside and left his body open. As soon as Alekis kicked the wood he was behind it, rushing forward he drove his fist home, smashing downwards on the top of the mans left knee causing it to crumple. Spinning around he drove his elbow into the mans temple only to be caught by the mans hand and pushed back with wind. Alekis stumbled but smirked. These guys magic wasn't any stronger then his own. Looking at the private he drew the sword and tossed it to him. "Ready Rusia? " |

"'Course I am," the knight retorted. Catching the guntō that Alekis had tossed at him, Ruslan sighed in relief upon grasping the familiar, synthetic grip of his blade once more. It was a good feeling, reassuring almost, in which the man felt more than comfortable with the situation, now that he had his blade drawn out. Yet, as the matter stood, these people were still civilians, not actual combatants, and thus did not warrant having their very lives snuffed out by his weapon unless it was absolutely necessary. Flipping his sword toward its unsharpened back end, the private assumed a defensive stance, before reciting an excerpt of the Sacred Words solemnly under his breath. "Life before Death. Strength before Weakness. Journey before Destination." His duty, as a knight, was not just relegated to the defense of Fiore from external and internal threats itself. Ideally, it was so that he should uphold the sanctity of life. To kill unnecessarily would be a complete travesty to the Knights in their entirety. Ideally, the strength that he had possessed from the harsh rigors of training back in the Academy should be utilized for service to others in need of help. Ideally, the end would never justify the means implemented if they were less than noble, though that last statement was something in which Ruslan had mixed feelings toward. Shaking his head ever so slightly from side to side, the knight advanced further with his weapon drawn, proceeding ever closer to making contact with the people named Mister Valbero and Doctor Heidegger. As he did so, he perceived what appeared to be a concerned expression across the doctor's face, in addition to a slight wave of the hand by the other fellow. "Bring it out," he called, clapping his glove-covered hands ever so slightly. The man's request was promptly answered by the dull thudding of shoes, followed by a distinctive clanking noise. Armor perhaps? Or was it something else? The answer lay behind the door opposite to the private and his partner, in which a trio of more bodyguards, followed by what appeared to be a man clad in plate-mail, entered from. Hurriedly ushering the two old men out from the room, they closed the door behind them, as the armored person strode to face them. Yet, upon closer examination, it was evident that something seemed terribly off about the man. His movements seemed too robotic, too calm in such a situation, in which the bodyguards, though reacting professionally, had still betrayed hints of surprise and confusion. This person...displayed no trace of what appeared to be alarm, or surprise, or anger, or joy. Though, as he neared closer toward the duo, it was evident that this was not a living being. The face, though resembling a human from a cursory glance, appeared set in stone, a grave, somber image that conveyed no sense of expression whatsoever. In the orifices that were supposed to have housed eyes, two orange lights flickered ever so slightly, while the arm of the construct, wielding a war axe, creaked with a characteristic sound that betrayed the whirring and thrumming of multiple cogs and gears. A lachryma-powered soldier, an old model, but dangerous no less. For such a man to have gotten his hands on such an experimental construct, once considered for use in supplementing the knights, words could not describe how wealthy that old geezer could probably be. |

Alekis prepared himself to rush the wind mage again when they fled away with the two old men. About to chase he was presented with something he couldn't fully comprehend just yet. Taking a step back as robo knight walked forward. The sound of the heavy armored knight was not a good one. This thing meant business. Looking at the shock on Rusias face he got the feeling this dude was bad news. Alekis skipped back out of range of that fearsome war axe and rolled his shoulders. He had the feeling that martial arts.and brute force wouldn't help here. At least he admitted not with the strength he had. Taking a deep breath he looked at Rusia. "So partner, any info on the big dude I should know? " Lightning popped off his body as he stared at the big robot dude with apprehension. Not fear, he wouldn't die here on his.first trip to a robot trash can. But it's pure size was enough to halt any idiotic impulse for a head on attack. Judging by the fact Alekis father had never mentioned something like this it was.either top secret or new. Either way it was definitely government issue. Looking at Rusia again he kept hoping for some awesome pep talk and advice like a giant off switch on It's back or something that could keep them alive. His eyes flicked to the window before returning to robo knight. If need be they could get to the roof and bypass the new enemy. |

Eyeing the magitech soldier suspiciously, it was evident that attempting to beat the construct in a head on fight would be tantamount to suicide. On a catalog touting the supposed abilities of the mechanical humanoid, he had read about how a single one of these things managed to hold its own against a squad of knights, subverting their superior adaptability and agility with sheer power and toughness, before eventually subduing its aggressors after they had exhausted their endurance. The issue was further complicated by the fact that they were in close quarters, something that would've been slightly more advantageous if the construct had been a newer model. The later versions incorporated a rather predictable element of advancing a set amount of paces toward its opponent, before committing to strafing the target. The older models were much more straightforward; they merely advanced head-on toward their enemies, before brutally cleaving through them with the intimidating war axes that they carried. Analyzing the situation further, the knight eventually reported his finding back to Alekis, so that he could get a better grasp on what to do. "It seems to be an older model, compared to the ones being considered for patrol duty back in Aster Town and the more dangerous portions of Dandelion," he stated matter-of-factly. "As a whole, they aren't really capable of adapting to sudden situations, but if there's one thing they're good at, it's the direct elimination of their prey. Thankfully, this seems to be outdated, so they haven't integrated those new-fangled concealable flamethrowers and repeating crossbows onto the arm. With that said, this one's basically really tough, but its attacks are just straightforward swings. If these stupid seats weren't in the way, we could probably just dodge it." With that, the man kicked the side of the passenger car in frustration. If it weren't for the fact that they had essentially entered a particularly dangerous funnel, of which there was no escape. There was also the option of retreating to the top of the car, in which they could quite simply flee from this particular opponent. Yet, it appeared that the window closest to his location was locked; the fastest way to catch up to that doctor and his colleague would technically be through the construct, but getting past it was a challenge in its entirety. Regardless, the knight sprung off from the floorboards, barreling toward the lachryma-powered soldier, blade in hand. A suicidal move, that was true, but, with his armor at least, it should be possible for him to soak up a fair portion of damage, while Alekis snuck past. Nearing just a couple paces from the armored axeman stepped forward, he braced himself for the worst. IFF Authentication Verified: Knight of Fiore. RCU3-#204, desisting. Please do not interfere with security operations. The knight doubled back in surprise as the lachryma-powered humanoid merely stepped aside, allowing for him to pass. As it continued its advance toward his partner, the man realized a brilliant plan that could very well get the two of them across without sustaining horrendous injuries, all the while throwing a wrench in its users' plans. Opening a prominent panel placed at the back of the construct, he operated on its integrated terminal with great difficulty, before managing to pull up the IFF System. Randomly tinkering around with the fancy gizmos and doodads of the terminal, he eventually found an identification program, complete with captured images of targets and allies. Smiling most heinously, Ruslan simply unregistered the faces of all the people that he had identified as the bodyguards of the two, before falsely implementing the spiky-haired mage as an ally, a fellow 'knight' or so to speak. Watching the construct lower its arms, he motioned for Alekis to follow. "Let's get going." Edited by ajimeister, Nov 7 2016, 12:29 AM.

Alekis watched as Rusia took command of the situation which Alekis was happy to let happen with the unknown enemy. At least unknown to him. Watching his partner he felt a rush of admiration at the privates courage in his actions. The robot allowed Rusia to pass because of being a knight before it turned on him. A magic circle formed on his right palm as he readied his lightning bolt spell. Turned out was unnecessary cause Rusia in an awesome act of genius and bravery rodeo mounted the robot and repurposed it. Smiling at his genius friend he ran past and slapped him playfully on the shoulder. "Way to up the drama Rusia." He grinned before smashing into the door. Locked. Cursing he stepped back. He could let the robot do it but secretly he always wanted to kick open a door. Stepping back, he set his body weight and with a strong forward kick next to the handle his foot impacted and the door broke open. Swinging forward revealing two of the bodyguards who stood waiting for them. Alekis tilted his head as he looked at them. "They didn't have much faith in the robot, Rusia." smirking, Alekis ran forward toward the two men, his knees bending before he slid suddenly between ones legs. Coming up behind them he stomped down on thr back of the right guards knee. Ducking a swinging fist from the left man he stepped under his guard and began a tattoo on the mans midsection. Kicking out he bopped the first guards head with his foot sending him rolling towards Rusia. His body weaved left and right as he blocked or dodged the bodyguards attacks. Retaliating with his own. Ducking under a wild left, Alekis pushed off the ground and did a driving uppercut under the mans jaw. Feeling the mans weight lift from his punch and land full eagle on the floor. Wiping away the blood from his nose and lip. That man had a quick jab and had struck him a few times. Licking the excess off his lip he looked over to see how Rusia was doing with his own bully. Turning his gaze to the next car he knew they were up there somewhere. Lightning crackled off his skin as he thought of his townfolk left slumped over on the floor or in chairs because of one mans arrogance. Though they had yet to come across the person responsible for that act. Alekis was eager to meet him. |

Gazing passively as Alekis rushed in and proceeded to engage the hostile guards up ahead, the knight simply took a brief sigh as he waited from behind the magitech soldier. Fiddling with the controls a bit, the truth of the matter was that it was due to sheer dumb luck that he had managed to pull that particularly impressive stunt off; the control panel just seemed similar to the cogitators that had been implemented for the dissemination of information back in the Academy. And yet, it was thanks to that particular stroke of fortune that they now had a most imposing ally, which strode to meet the man that had been sent barreling toward Ruslan with purpose. As the two made contact with one another, the private watched, wide-eyed, as the construct merely stopped the pitiable fellow in his tracks, before lifting him up by his neck in a vice-like grasp. Watching the lachryma-powered soldier slam the unfortunate bodyguard to the ground, before keeping him pinned with its pure strength, Ruslan merely spectated, before eventually moving up to to regroup with Alekis. Making his way toward the door at the opposite side, the private noticed a couple silhouettes just behind that very car, no doubt the two old men from beforehand. Gesturing with his thumb, the knight surmised that perhaps these were the very people behind what had conspired so far; after all, the one over there named Mister Valbero had mentioned something, the likes of which had escaped the knight's ear. Judging from his overall demeanor, it could be inferred that perhaps he was the one running this particular operation, in which he had drawn out that doctor as well. Glancing back at his comrade, the private nodded once, before speaking. "Alright, let's get right to it now, shall we?" And with that, he opened the door before rushing in, the relative size of his armor, in addition to his positioning, providing a degree of protection for the mage to take cover behind. Brandishing his handgun, now trained upon a withered old man clad in fine, flowing garments that betrayed his affluence, who, through his pince-nez, stared at them in mild curiosity. Just a couple paces behind him, stood a melancholic graybeard, clad in a laboratory coat and cargo shorts. "Oh? And might you be the young ruffians that barged into our lovely little meeting?" the bespectacled one inquired. "Considering just what exactly transpired on this here train, I could say that your little meeting has proved to have been quite a hassle on the other passengers aboard this vehicle," the knight quipped. "Under Article 7 of the Uniform Code of Justice, you sirs, are hereby subject to apprehension for the committing of multiple felonies, in addition to the unlawful possession of a combat-oriented automaton. You have the right to remain silent. Any and all evidence will be used against you. You have the right to consult an attorney and have aforementioned attorney present during your period of questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one shall be appointed for you if you so desire. Desist now, and come quietly." "Men blaspheme what they do not know, in which it is evident that you do not know the rationale behind my behavior. Very well. I doubt you'd understand anyway. Though, if I did have to describe the logic, or lack thereof behind my actions, it would probably be that the heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing." "I have long since learned, as a measure of elementary hygiene, to be on guard when anyone quotes Bascal," the knight stated simply. "Heh," the coat-clad man smirked. "If you'd been the one stating those exact words to me, I would've interjected the exact same way. Gortega, if I'm not mistaken? This verbal exchange certainly brings back memories." "Ah, yes. I do recall that Sylvia was ever fond of his teachings," the bespectacled one stated wistfully. "I don't care," snapped the private, as he continued to keep the sights of his pistol trained on the two men. "Explain your actions. If not, perhaps I'll just have my good friend over here beat it out of you." (OOC: Alekis, if you'd like, you can feel free to NPC these guys too if you want, just saying.) |

Alekis smirked as he watched the exchange between the two men and Rusia. Taking out a candy bar he opened it and began munching on it. Staring out the window as philosophy went way over his head. He liked things simple and straight forward. See something in the way...punch it! His head turned when Rusia mentioned him. Candy bar locked between his teeth he gave a friendly wave to the two men. Holding personal grudges was something Alekis never figured out how to do. His eyes flicked around as he took a bite from his candy bar again. His body looked relaxed, but under the calm exterior his muscles were coiled to react. His hand slid through his blonde hair feeling how it stuck up in all kinda angles. No matter what his mother had done over the years, nothing seemed to be able to tame those electrified locks. Looking around he spotted the vase that had caused so much trouble for the passengers on the train. Lifting a hand, Electricity sparked on his fingers. "Hey, Rusia. Can I break that vase? I'm assuming it may have something to do with everyone sleeping...or I just really wanna break it. Not fully sure." he gave a big grin as his eyes flicked to the two men. One standing and the other sitting. He tilted his head watching them for a long moment. His eyes seemed to stare at them for a long moment. Tilting his head he took another bite of his candy bar and chewed on it while staring at them. Leaning forward he stared at them harder. His head angling to the left as his foot tapped on the floor. "...Who are they? " |

"If you sir, think that I shall allow you to destroy this vase, then you're sorely mistaken!" As the blonde-haired mage voiced out his thoughts concerning the porcelain vase, the bespectacled man stood up suddenly, his face flush with anger. Hands, gaunt and wrinkled with age were balled into fists, while the lab-coat clad fellow behind him sighed with a complexion that betrayed exasperation at the circumstances unfolding. Evidently, it appeared that what was within the container was of utmost importance to the two elders. Perhaps it was precisely because it was sensitive that the entire train had been put to sleep? Ruslan began to ruminate once more, delving into the possibilities and motives behind the man's actions. What was inside the vase? He had mentioned something concerning a Sylvia, so it was likely that whatever was within had to have some sort of sentimental value, right? But then again, the two had mentioned before that the contents, a fluid known by the codeword of Macoco, had been based off of an experiment conducted by that infamous archmage, Melchitus. The truth of the matter lay within the fact that it was simply too hard to deduce what their motives were, in addition to why the vase mattered. It was also exacerbated by the fact that the bespectacled one did not take kindly to Alekis's statement, poised in a defensive stance. "I don't know Alekis. We don't really know what could possibly be inside that vase. For all I know, it could be a bioweapon. Until we figure out what's within, it would probably be better not to break it for the time being." Were Alekis to proceed to destroy the vase, the knight would probably have a whole lot more to deal with on his end. After all, if it turned out to be a bioweapon or some malevolent substance, the dilemma aboard the train would no doubt grow exponentially. Hopefully, that wouldn't be the case though. Keeping his pistol trained on the one that had stood up in outrage, the knight maintained his position, before perceiving his target sigh in relief and stand down. As he took a seat, so too followed the other. "Forgive my friend's discourtesy. I am Doctor Lukas Heidegger, and this is the esteemed Ser Lance Benedictus Valbero VI of House Valbero." With a slight bow, the coat-clad elder acknowledged the knight and Alekis with inquisitive sea-green eyes, not unlike that of a grandparent acknowledging rebellious grandchildren. Then again, they were but mere children in comparison to the ages of the two long-lived fellows; Ruslan was an adolescent on the cusp of becoming an adult, whereas he half-suspected suspected that Alekis was probably his junior in terms of age. It mattered little to the topic at hand though. For the disturbance of the peace, it was his duty to detain the troublesome folk. In doing so, he had to at least determine their agenda. "Start from the top, if you please." "I'll be straightforward with you two. Lance here has suffered from no shortage of grief ever since his wife suffered an untimely death during the First Boscan War several years ago. What's in that vase is the culmination of a lifetime's worth of expenditures, made in the hopes of resurrecting her one day. The reason why I'm here is because he needed me as an advisor." "Then why go to such lengths as to sedate everybody else aboard the train?" "Can you fathom what would happen if word of an otherworldly and near mythical substance that could grant life was leaked?" stated Mister Valbero soberly. "Not to mention, if there were possibly other people who would much rather get their hands on it. I apologize if my doing so has inconvenienced anybody, but it was all part of a security precaution. So was my personal retinue." As the train slowly ground to a halt, the man leaned back into his chair. Outside, the heavy plods of multiple footsteps and clanks of steel upon steel could be heard, faint, yet present. Knights, and reinforcements at that. What impeccable timing. "Looks like reinforcements will be here promptly to secure the train. I plan on turning these guys in, but if there's anything else you'd like to do with them, do let me know." |

A low growl echoed around the car as Alekis balled his hands into fists. Lightning crackling up his arms, his eyes sharpening into two points like bits of sharp glass. His body trembled in barely contained rage at the man's words. Stepping forward he planted his foot hard on the floor. "So let me get this straight, you decided to put all these people to sleep just to protect your own happiness? These people have their own joys going on that you have stolen from them. Two people from my hometown just got married, They are going to the capital for their honeymoon and this train ride has been one thing neither of them shut up about. You stole that from them! " his voice raised as lightning popped off his body. "There are children on this train who were eager to see things they have never seen before, people just relaxing. But you didn't care, your own happiness is worth more than any of theirs. You sir, are the epitome of human arrogance and pride. I should destroy that damn vase right now so you can feel what happens when someone else steals your happiness away. You better thank Rusia! He is the only reason you two aren't on the floor right now bleeding! " Lifting a hand he pointed at the guy sitting down. "You are going to awaken these innocent people right now or so help me I'll throw you, that vase, and your doctor friend off this train! " He took a deep breath trying to calm down though his eyes stayed as sharp as ever. His right fist shaking with barely contained fury at the ego of this man. "And your bodyguards suck! " he threw out on last jab before taking a bite of his candy bar, obviously waiting for the thank you to Rusia from the two men who had ruined a perfectly good and peaceful train ride away from Oshibana. |

In contrast to his more passionate friend's behavior, Ruslan merely kept quiet, continuing to brandish his handgun in the general direction of that Valbero person and Dr. Heidegger. Truthfully, the knight found himself disappointed in the sense that the two wizened old gentlemen in front of his sights had committed to such a disruptive action; consumed by his grief, it appeared that the man who had remained within his seat had indirectly, no, perhaps directly, been responsible for the phenomenon that had pervaded throughout the entire train throughout their journey. And although he had stated that it was for means of a security precaution, the man had still overstepped his bounds by applying a sleeping spell on the people aboard the train. Yet, the private also understood that now was not the time to express his personal sentiments. After all, he was on duty; letting emotions and opinions cloud his judgement were unbecoming of a Knight of Fiore. Sighing loudly, before scratching his head, the knight looked once at Alekis, who had taken to consuming a candy bar, before turning back toward Mister Valbero. The mage had raised some good points, the likes of which Ruslan found himself agreeing with to an extent. The one especially, concerning rousing the other passengers aboard the train from their slumber–a significant objective–was something that needed to be completed. Boring into the lavishly garmented man and his compatriot with knife-like amber slits, the private sheathed his pistol back within a leather holster before smiling. It wasn't a friendly one. "As my partner here has stated, it would be imperative for you to wake these people up. Now." Glaring indignantly at the knight in front of him, in addition to the mage, Valbero seemed poised to refuse. A stubborn look was engraved upon his face, which was promptly quelled by a pat on the shoulder. Doctor Heidegger, whose expression clearly betrayed the notion that he thought his old friend should take responsibility. Eventually relenting, the man acquiesced, snapping his fingers somewhat lazily. "And it has been undone. The spell should take a couple more minutes to fully wear off, but for the most part it's been nullified." Finished with undoing the spell, the man leaned back within a reclining passenger seat, before gazing absent-mindedly outside the window. Not like there was much to look at in the first place; There were indeed rolling pastures and gentle hills, but the natural landscape was marred by what appeared to be multiple people, in addition to a plethora of wagons. Curious. Warrant Officer Nathaniel Holt had seen his fair share of incidents and hostage rescue situations during his tenure as a knight, but among the cases that he had participated in, this one appeared to be in bad taste. Perspiring from the inside of his heavy plate mail, the point man found himself concerned with the particulars of the dispatch request that he had received. An illegal operation, on a train full of people, or so it seemed. Perhaps it was a hostile takeover? Or worse yet, a bomb? Clenching tightly the grip of his truncheon and a cumbersome tower shield, the knight took a couple deep breaths, before nodding to the assault element. The operation was a go. After all, if they waited just a moment longer, who knew what could possibly happen? "Form up on me...one..two...three, breaching!" The warrant officer violently kicked the door of the nearest coach open, before moving in, followed by his squad. Their movements were fluid, their coordination superb, in no small part due to the many operations and training that they had undertaken in the event of such scenarios. What little remained of the belligerents, disoriented and confused, didn't stand a chance. As the knights continued to advance, they left behind a wealth of bodies, beaten and subdued with zip ties. Eventually, the team made their way in front of a finely crafted wooden door, seemingly where more broken bodies could be perceived. Someone, not one of theirs, had been here, and had been responsible for taking care of them soundly. But could it be that he was also a potential threat? Steeling himself for whatever lay behind the door, Holt shook his head, before raising his shield in a peculiar stance. Accompanied by his colleagues, all armed similarly with either staves or truncheons, the man charged, bursting through with all of his might as the door fell down. As the dust cleared, he perceived four people, seemingly from different walks of life. Out of the four, three appeared to be civilians dressed in a variety of garments, whereas the fourth seemed to be a knight such as himself. Strange, there were no knights assigned to guard this train in the first place. "Put your hands on your heads, and down on your knees, now!" |
