"Sapientia Sola Libertas Est"

A purple flash invaded his senses like a burst of lighting before Mens Nexus totally went down and the rush of information suddenly came to a sudden, grinding halt. Vento immediately slackened his arms and relieved the pressure he exerted on Tsuna without wholly letting her go of his embrace since he wanted to easily repeat his act should he turn out to be wrong. He tried to make use of Mens Nexus again; nothing, it was locked out from his use. It was only at that point that the raven-haired teen, with a sigh of relief and satisfaction, released Tsuna to allow her to recover from the shock he had necessarily caused her. He listened to her rant off on how he almost killed her and how he was inexperienced in terms of ‘hugging’, admitting to that fact silently, and with good reason. For all his life under Zephyrus’ care, the act of embracing another was taught to him as an immature expression of appreciation that was frowned upon by society as a whole. Children were the only ones whom adults tolerated with the performance of an otherwise unnecessary gesture; with adults, a firm handshake or a pat on the back or shoulder served to convey that message of appreciation more than sufficiently. In fact, in Neo Cortex itself, such gestures were rare at best since most researchers tended to work with near-mechanical apathy and half-meant words of praise were the norm in an organization where excellence was routine and expected from its members and employees. Vento viewed Tsuna as an adult and treated her as such; when she suddenly flew to him and hugged him without a clear and possible reason like a child would, his mind could not comprehend that someone as old as her would resolve to express her appreciation in such an immature way. Thus, instead of mentally pegging her as a ‘child’, Vento, out of respect of her as an equal, instead interpreted the act as an attempt to force the scholar to retaliate pursuant to his realization, assuming that she likewise seemed to have come to the same conclusion as he did. Nevertheless, whatever the case, the goal for the exercise was met and the results were within acceptable parameters. Without trying to contest Tsuna’s evaluation of him, Vento got up from his seat and extended his hand towards the blonde. He placed his palms on her shoulder, gave it a firm squeeze, and patted it thrice. “You did well, Tsuna; good girl,” he simply praised without further explanation since he saw the same as unnecessary because he did not want to jeopardize the young woman’s utility given the fact that she had yet to learn how to manifest her magecraft through sheer will alone. If he told her that her powers manifest whenever she felt threatened, he was afraid that, in her zeal, she might overestimate her skills and do something reckless tomorrow. It was better to leave her guessing and have her find out for herself instead of risking arrogant behavior and ultimately the assignment. In this kind of setup, albeit one laced with deceit, Vento could at least properly set up the situations where he can rely on Tsuna’s raw magic power with relative certainty of success. Sure it might be a pain to do, but Tsuna’s skill set was an invaluable asset – she was undoubtedly the best field assistant he can get with what remained of the expeditionary funds supplied to him. Having that said, given her success in his experiment, Vento saw it only fit to reward the blonde woman’s hard work on a scale appropriate to her effort. With the rain having already died down, they can now walk around Poinsettia unobscured by the rain. “Come now, let us get back to the hotel and let us have ourselves a proper dinner. I hope you like all-you-can-eat buffets because that is where we are going tonight.” With that said, Vento pulled up Tsuna’s jacket he used as a make-shift laundry bag for his own clothes and left the room. A ghost of a smile came to his face, satisfied with his find after what could only be described as a day filled with too many unnecessary detours. Regardless of the hassle, in the end, he did manage to recruit Tsuna; seemingly loyal, eager to please, and ultimately useful. Everything is going according to plan. [Exit to 'Cave of Wonders'] |

There was a belief that people perceived others like a white paper with a small black dot in the center. People would easily notice the stain on the paper instead of the other parts of which remained pristine. If translated to how a person would see another, normally they would wholly disregard the kindness one showed upon experiencing one small 'mistake'. In a normal setting, one would be furious of the scholar and leave him behind, setting aside every good he had done along with the promise of aid. That was the difference of a human from a dog. A dog would still see the good in its master even if the latter had hit it with a stick too harsh that it almost broke its rib. The canine would still wag its tail happily upon seeing its human. The eagerness to please him would remain. That was what the girl felt. Tsuna did not view the scholar in a bad light even if he physically hurt her badly. She reasoned out to herself that maybe it was just an isolated case. Perhaps, Vento was overjoyed as well that he could not contain it, that the embrace happened to be the outlet. The blonde understood, or if her mind would reject it, she would still inject the idea in her head and force her mind to understand. Slowly recovering from the shock, Tsuna greedily gasped for air after her rant while she wrapped her arms around herself; her sides and back, the latter she could do nothing about it, were throbbing and in pain. For sure the heiress' flesh was now red, bruised and swelling underneath the loose shirt. She had a delicate body --- she could get bruised too easily. The pain would definitely remain for a few days, and the marks, for weeks. It was a good thing she would always wear the chest binders, those would hide the bruises. Or, maybe it was not really a good thing for a few days --- pressing the said area tightly would aggravate the pain. Sheesh. Her gaze remained to the raven-haired young man, surprised yet delighted by the next thing he said and did that made her believe the 'constricting' earlier was all an accident. He seemed to be pleased at something, or a little happy at one thing she did. His words were confusing --- what did he mean with 'good job'? --- but she dismissed it. Who cares, as long as he is happy, right? In a haste, Vento grabbed her jacket that turned into a makeshift bag and went out of the room. It took a few seconds for the girl to react, and by the time her brain had caught up with the young man's actions he was already a few steps away from the door. Tsuna yelled, "Hey wait for me!" Hurriedly she opened the closet and grabbed her things, along with the binder that was still on her hand. Because of the suddenness of the events she failed to wear the chest binder and manage her hair. If she would still have to wear the bind and do her hair by the time she was done the man would be a few blocks away from the inn or he would chastise him. It felt she had no choice. "Vento I haven't worn the binder yet! Hey! Am I'm going to go out as a girl?! Vento wait!" She ran with what her speed could afford her, plastic bags in one hand and the other covered her chest that moved and jiggled in her every step. ------ <Exit to 'Cave of Wonders'> <End of Thread> Edited by Mariko, May 30 2016, 01:10 PM.
