Ryan cupped his hand over his mouth as he listened to the Midian Pirate talk about why he and his boys eat raw fish. The blonde honestly couldn’t care less why fish was eaten raw; it was supposed to be just a statement that could’ve sparked an interesting conversation between the two of them. But he didn’t want to be impolite and make a scene, especially after listening to the sailor talk. While his concealed lips were turned down and in disgust, his eyes were crinkled just enough to look like he was listening and taking in what the pirate was saying. “Money is the key to everything,” he replied a bit dismissively to the pirate. “Aye, sonny,” he said, patting him on the shoulder. “Jus wanna let ya’ll git the rit info fom a troo semen!” the Midian pirate shouted and turned around to find the Caelumese sailor who was just at the door and a step away from being out of earshot. So much for not causing a scene. Ryan turned his hand vertically into a fall facepalm and scooted into the corner of his seat. This date was not going as expected, though, when he looked at Alice, she seemed perfectly fine. The girl wasn’t particularly laughing or paying attention either, but she wasn’t uncomfortable either. If he was to be honest, she seemed a bit more relaxed with the two seamen yelling at each other and baring their muscles as a form of intimidation than being alone with him. But that was okay, because he would slowly chip at her. A minute later, Ryan found something that wasn’t okay, and that was when the intimidation became physical and the two were all over the table. “Can you two s—“ And then there was a third, an Encan Nobleman. “Let them fight, it is of their culture,” he said. ...Wow, people around here really seemed to be partial to barging in on dinner dates or something. No sooner had the pirate finished his explanation that the sailor returned, apparently with the intention of disputing his fellow seaman's claims. Alice couldn't help but quietly exhale out her nostrils upon seeing Ryan's visible annoyance at the situation, rather amused to see him be the flustered one for once. It seemed that unlike his date, the blonde-haired man wasn't really accustomed to large men screaming from within 5 feet of him. As disinterested as Alice may have looked to Ryan, her mind was never unoccupied - she was always contemplating, worrying, or questioning something. Even though she hated loud noises, she had become accustomed to noisy surroundings by necessity, which helped considerably in situations like these. Unfortunately, though, she had also grown up unable to put a stop to noise around her lest she drew ire from the wardens or the more rambunctious subjects - which meant that even if she wasn't affected by it, it took an immense amount of courage to so much as mutter a request towards loud or obnoxious people to keep it down, even if she was fully justified in doing so. So, she kept to herself, giving the nobleman a quick smile of acknowledgement. "Apologies on their behalf, sir and ma'am. A barbaric and obnoxious bunch, these men. And they wonder why we refuse to conduct trade with them when they act like barbarians within a civilized society." Uh huh. Alice pointed her eyes towards her date, shrugging her shoulders lightly. "Well, anyways...want some sushi? It's actually pretty decent." She spoke quietly, unsure of what to make of the current situation. |
