If one could perceive things that they wouldn't usually be capable of doing so, they could very much hear the drum-rolls as the city of Magnolia came into view. This was another stop in Mallorie's grand adventure to. . . . To, well -- become a well-established mage! In all candor, Mallorie had no idea what she was doing anymore. A large portion of her is doubting her caliber -- whatever caliber she may have --, and she isn't entirely sure how to properly go about becoming a true mage. But, she made a promise to herself that she'd become strong to avenge her friend someday -- though she still had no idea who her killer was. It certainly was something obfuscated by the annals of history. . . And hopefully someday soon she can get her revenge. But for now. . . . With her map unfurled and in hand, the poppy red haired Stellar Spirit mage took deliberate, comfortable steps along Magnolia's Central Street, a light staccato emitting unnoticed by many -- for she wasn't anyone of note anyway. Several stores lined each side, and her head swiveled, golden irises settling on signs and wondering what she could do. She'd heard of Fairy Tail -- the eponymous and ridiculous sporadic, and at times destructive -- guild, often times dubbed one of the most influential and powerful guilds in Fiore. Perhaps she could join such a guild, but there was something keeping her away from it all. And the fact of the matter was, if she wanted to pursue her goals, then she needed to join a guild. But how? But when? With what skill? After all, she can't fight all too well. . . Serpens usually did all the fighting. Stopping on the side of the street, loitering near a packed store, she looked at the jagged and wiggly Silver key. Frowning, she wondered if it was truly okay for Serpens to do all the hard work. Stellar Spirits were people. . . To a degree, but they were also in essence a powerful tool. Mallorie wasn't entirely sure how she felt about using Serpens as a tool, though. The Spirit could be rather ridiculous and virulent, but she'd likely been like that for many, many years. Furrowing her brow, she looked around, holding onto her pack. Perhaps she should consider getting some kind of weapon -- something she could use to fight alongside the Spirit. Something easy to learn. . . "Did you hear? Did you hear?" Said gossiping passerby exiting the store Mallorie was situated outside of. "What?" Said one of them. "There's supposedly a terrifying ghoul at the end of. . ." Eventually their conversation devolved into something honestly predictable -- something about an old dilapidated house with a howling shriek of a ghost within, casting a looming shade of fear into little kids' hearts, as well as supposedly rotting many crops grown by fruit and vegetable vendors. At first, Mallorie couldn't help but bob an eyebrow in disbelief, and scoffed to herself. But, then she recalled that many strange things tended to happen for one reason or another. Kipping off the wall lightly, she turned about, then looked back to the two civilians heading away. "A ghost, huh. . .?" If this was true, then perhaps she could do something about it -- maybe. And so, Mallorie eventually headed to the particular locale of this derelict manor, or town house, or whatever. Surely enough, it fit the description. A Gothic manor, two story highs cloistered by a rusted, black fence and a creaking gate which seemed to be as tall as the house itself. The lawn was entirely moldy, completely asunder, and heavily in need of a definite manicure. The sky above it was oddly degrading as well, and nothing about this strange domicile -- if one could even call it such -- was charming or immaculate. "Okay, so I'm definitely going to be disappointed -- or I'm definitely not going to be disappointed," Exhaling, she looked around. Was anyone else here? She thought she heard foot-steps. . . |

For the strangest reason, Arianna had been hearing the faint sound of drums all morning. Whenever she'd asked anyone else about it, of course, they'd insisted that they couldn't hear anything and that she was crazy. But Ari knew better. They were probably hard of hearing or something. All of them. What was it they said? The first thing that went when you got old was your hearing. Adults were clearly old, so it couldn't be helped if they couldn't hear anything properly. Of course, she had more important things than someone playing musical instruments in the distance to worry about. And no, an appointment with the Otologist was not one of those things, though she thought that just about everyone around her could probably use one. Old fogies. No, what was important was that word on the street was that Magnolia's ghost problems were stirring up again, and Arianna was the city's premier ghost buster (self-proclaimed). Why, after she'd befriended the poltergeist at the middle school and stuck him in Ei-tan's scarf, there hadn't been any ghost problems for an entire month! It was unprecedented! And so she had followed her nose, as might a toucan, and finally found herself perched on a broken piece of fence overlooking an abandoned looking manor. It was quite impressive, really, and Arianna thought that with a little decorating on a dark, moonlit night it might even be a nice place to dress up in costumes and pretend to be monsters while tricking people out of their hard-earned candy. However, today was not a day for candy-trickery. Today, she was going to find out if there really was a ghost here. She'd start with the pinky-red haired person standing around at the gate. Hopping down from the gate, she just barely avoided twisting her ankle on the landing. Lurching forward in a manner not entirely unlike that of a zombie, the young girl shambled out in front of the other investigator who seemed somewhat... hesitant to enter the grounds. "Hiyo! What'cha doin' here? You looking for ghosties too? I'm sure you are, I can tell these sorts of things. I'm a pro." Yes. A most excellent introduction indeed. |
