Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

With Mallorie agreeing to being loaned a spell - now informed of the specifics of it - Varriden flicked the magical circle towards her and watched it attach to her, knowing all too well what was no doubt flashing through her head as the magic took effect - he had a similar sensation whenever he learned a new technique through his archive magic, though for him, it was a more subdued kind of effect, because he was learning that while witnessing the magic live and in person, instead of the information just being dropped into his head via magic without any visuals to accompany it. Thankfully, the spell being one that Mallorie was familiar with should help cut down on the confusion and increase her clarity of the necessary spellwork needed.

She had seemed nervous when Varriden was summoning up the spell to grant her temporarily abilities - in fairness, receiving a new magical spell out of nowhere was a somewhat daunting prospect to most people, though Varriden himself, obviously, had no such issue, given his magic type - but she let out a small gasp as the information made its way to her mind. From the look on her face, she already understands, Varriden thought, nodding both to her and towards the same flower Serpens had used, and within moments, had cast the same spell, encasing the flower in stone for the second time in as many minutes, then letting it crumble away to nothingness, along with the information of the spell inside her head.

"Well done. I thought it would be easiest if you were granted knowledge of a spell that you were semi-comfortable with, if only from a viewing perspective, so you wouldn't be too worried about the results. So, what was it like, casting your own summon's magic?" Varriden said with a smile.

It was an ephemeral moment, but one that Mallorie would record in her memorial macrocosm for ages to come. So many years of never being able to cast one single, measly spell, and finally Mallorie was capable of doing so. So many years of being harangued and bullied about not being able to cast her own magic, fueled by her own desires -- but then she finally managed to do so. Then again, when she thought about it, it wasn't her own magic -- but Varriden's. Even though, she found some solace within herself that she managed to cast a spell anyway, even if it was borrowed, and even if it was evanescent. Now, Mallorie had no idea how to cast the spell anymore -- at least not immediately. It just didn't stick. Her soul wasn't fit for Serpens' magic, anyway. It had already decided that it was linked to the Stars.

She breathes.

Turning to Varriden, she shrugged. "I'm not entirely too sure," She admitted. "It felt as it if was mine, but wasn't mine -- it's kind of confusing. I don't have much of a clue of how it happened -- it just sort of did. The information was in my head, and it felt like I already knew -- like it was instinctual and innate," Folding her arms, she frowned. She didn't even feel a lick of exhaustion! That is, aside from her recovering state from Serpens' pull. Casting Serpens' spell didn't even take the least bit of magic from her. Instead, it was entirely weighing on Varriden's spell. Archive magic was so strange, and it didn't make too much sense. . . But anyway. . .

Mallorie looked to the Lamia Scale guild hall for a few moments. She still wasn't ready to join a guild, not just yet. She needed a bit more experience before she even dared to cross into those halls. After all, she wouldn't be able to do even the most menial of jobs for the lowest amount of Jewels without proper practice. She needed more practice on her endurance and stamina -- she needed to work on her partnership and bonds with Serpens. Without that, then what kind of mage would she be? One of her primary goals is to become one of the most renown Stellar Spirit mages in all of Fiore. And for that, she needed to take this step by step -- and she would have to go through quite the travail to inch closer to her dreams.

Clearing her throat, she held her hands behind herself, only after adjusting her garments and pack. "It was great to meet you, Varriden," She told him, her words smiling. "But, I think it might be time for me to go. I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow, and I should probably rent out a room in an inn before they all fill up. Traveling doesn't wait for a single person, after all," And so, she withdrew her map from her pack once more, unfurling it and settling her eyes on it. She didn't leave -- not just yet. First, she needed to fully assess where she was. Besides, perhaps Varriden had other things to say -- other questions he might not know the answer to. Only time will tell.

As Mallorie cast the spell and let it fade out before her, the mark that had flown to her shoulder rapidly fading away even faster than the stone crumbled off the petals of the flower, she had an odd look on her face - not shock, not even surprise or curiosity. It looked more akin to a look of....perhaps some combination of wonderment and satisfaction, like some unmentioned goal had just been met, simply by casting the spell, though as to what kind of goal could be accomplished by temporarily petrifying a flower was beyond Varriden at that moment, as he didn't know enough about Mallorie to make a guess, but clearly that casting had had some kind of deeper meaning for her.

When Varriden asked her outright what it was like to briefly wield her own summon's magic as her own, she didn't seem to know what she was feeling. "Most likely, you were, on some level, aware that it was magic you had some jurisdiction over through your own summon, but it felt odd because you never wielded it yourself - sort of like watching someone practice with a sword in a training yard long enough to pick up a few things, but then trying to wield a sword yourself." Varriden said. "The feeling of information is how the magic works - it imparts the information as....something akin to an instinct, like a half-remembered memory. When the magic fades, as if forgotten once again."

Mallorie said that she had to leave, but was grateful for showing her the way to the guild, and that it was nice to meet him. "Likewise," Varriden said with a slight nod. "I won't keep you any longer, then, if you're worried about getting a room. If you do decide to join Lamia Scale, though, let them know that I pointed you towards the guild - not sure how much that'll influence your initial experience of the place, given that I'm not terribly high in rank in the guild, but hopefully it'll do something for you."

And so that would be that, for now.

With Mallorie now having pinpointed a proper inn to room in for the night before she began her excursion further into all of Fiore, she folded her map back up once more and stashed it into her rucksack. Varriden proceeded to explicate and corroborate the whole process of lending magic to another, and she nodded along, emphatically. She understood what he meant when giving metaphorical examples, and it really made sense. She did feel as if she'd been observing Serpens, and then promptly trying to unleash her own magic in the form of encasing something in stone. But, of course, it wouldn't work as intended. After all, Mallorie wasn't a typical mage who could produce and give form to her magic. . . She had to rely on Stellar Spirits.

"I'll totally consider Lamia Scale -- but I think, for now, I should train a bit more and broaden my horizons, keeping my options open," With another smile, Mallorie waved to Varriden, and went on her way, waving at him from the distance. After that, she continued on her path. The sky had turned into beautiful hues of varicolored oranges and maroons -- it was a breathtaking visage and she'd likely treasure it for a life time. The sun was descending slowly in the horizon and the air was becoming a bit more chilled, yet it still felt somewhat torrid -- like a love affair that could go awry at any moment.

Eventually, Mallorie reached an inn and promptly paid for the night. Afterwards, she headed upstairs and crumbled into the bed. Tomorrow, would be a new day. In fact, tomorrow came much quicker than expected, and after readying herself, she headed off once more. Once again, the up-and-coming Stellar Spirit mage, Mallorie Yune, was heading out into the big bad world, with only her Stellar Spirit partner at her side -- or, in this case, around her wrist. What kind of fate would she face now, if any? Who knows. . . .

Perhaps it would be best to stick around and find out.

The End.
