Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

When Varriden told her about the guild of wishes and their myriad of goods, she seemed to take an interest in the place. "Not at all, I'd like having some company along the way," Varriden said with a polite nod. "They often have a variety of things. The catch to that is that it means you usually have to get anything you see and like on your trip there, as they rotate the inventory they carry on a fairly regular basis. If you ask nicely, though, sometimes they might be inclined to keep it for you, though being a business, if someone comes along, knows about the item, and makes a better offer, he might have a decision to make." Varriden said with a shrug. "It hasn't happened to me in the times I've gone there, but I imagine that must be something they have to deal with from time to time, given how often they have to shift their wares, and how much their livelihood depends on their ability to get things sold."

"It shouldn't be too hard to find, given the actual number of traders and the people who visit to exchange goods." Varriden said. "And stuff like tents - not like they could build an actual, permanent structure when they're so nomadic in nature, if only because of their profession." Varriden began walking in the direction he'd been heading initially, stepping over a protruding root as he did so to avoid tripping over it. "The nice thing about them being traders who travel all over is twofold - one, it means they have goods from various places, meaning you can get things normally not available in the area, and two, they have to appeal to whoever they happen to run into in terms of their goods, so they're almost required to have a variety of goods."

Lib felt relief that Varriden agreed with her going along, and after listening to him, she felt that checking out this nomadic market was a good idea. Who knows, if they indeed have as large of wares as Varriden made it sound like, then there may be something that interests Lib. And even if they don't there can be some curiosities for her to check out, besides, having something else to do right now had already made the fall worth.

Following Varriden thru the forest, Lib couldn't but wonder even more about what she could possibly find in the market. Then again, the reason for Varriden to be searching it kinda drew her curiosity as well.

"So what are you looking to find in that market?", she asked, "Anything specific or are you planning to just browse the wares?"

A group of hooded figures prepared to move. They totalled a number of ten people, dressedv in dark purple and black. Five of them were equipped with bows, and one which had a deep red hood was in the center of the other nine. Their goal was to get a few more items to sell later on to the merchants in the guild of Wishes. It was not the first time they did so, and it wasn't about to be the last either. Preying on people that ventured too deep into the forest, lured by the reputation of the guild.

The target for today had already been found, a young couple that was moving towards the market. They did not attack, yet, instead they waited to be sure there was something worth taking first before committing. If needed they would wait for them to leave the market with some wares.

Libbier asked Varriden what his own plans for the market were, which was a fair question, since he'd stated that it was the reason that he was in the forest in the first place. "Nothing particular that I'm trying to find," Varriden said, "But that's partially the point - they might have something interesting that might catch my eye. That's the one trouble with it being a guild of traders that are miles from civilization and always on the move - they don't really have the luxury of putting up any sort of advertisements when they get something good in, aside from shouting it from their stalls and tents, that is."

"You might be able to find something that you like in the Guild of Wishes as well," Varriden said, turning to look at Libbier. "Though I'm not sure what might suit your fancy in terms of items and equipment. Normally I'd guess armor or weapons, but your own seem fairly unique in design," Varriden said, glancing at the double-bladed weapon. "Where did you get those, anyway? Doesn't really seem like something you'd just stumble across in a market."

The group hadn't been noticed by Varriden yet, but mostly because they kept their distance for the time being. Varriden's eyes were sharp, but focused on the weapon at the moment - getting closer would no doubt increase the odds that they'd be spotted - obvious, perhaps, to the group, but with Varriden, the point where being spotted was a real risk was a bit further out that most would give credit.

Has Lib listened to Varriden, she just had to agree with him. Even if she didn't had anything in mind on what she wanted, knowing a place that was famous for its diversity was simply too good to not go to, if not for the sole fact of wanting to see what they could have. Such a reputation from merchants that had no way of advertising their market outside the forest, could hardly be fake... but then again, it was not something Lib had not seen before.

Varriden then turned the conversation towards Lib's equipment. It wasn't something that surprised Lib in the least, since her weapon alone was quite weird on its own not to mention easy to spot, but her armor being of a design unique to her village, would sometimes also draw people's attention.

"Oh, this old thing?", laughed Lib as she adjusted the armor on her wrist, "This is something every hunter from my village gets on the day they become adults, mine had to be custom made tho, since my size didn't quite fit the average height.", then she turned to her weapon, and with a sad reminiscing smile added, "As for this... well, you could say it was a parting gift from the village chief on the day I left."

It was not true of course, but then again, it wasn't entirely false either. Lib couldn't but think of it any other way, from all he had done for her...

"You seem to have a pretty good equipment yourself.", Lib finally said as she turned to Varriden.

The group of thieves came closer, lead by the one with red hood. They had split up, their plan being to incircle their target to prevent escape, and take it out with one fell swoop to avoid drawing attention. Their objective was to get the big sword held by the woman, and possibly get the equipment from the man as well.

The ones equipped with bows took to the tree branches to get a better view of the area, while the others approached from the ground, using the bushes for cover. They would fire arrows first to cripple their targets, then move in from all sides at once.

Libbier seemed somewhat nonchalant about her unusual double-bladed weapon and armor, but given how long she had no doubt possessed them, it wasn't too surprising that she didn't see them as out of the ordinary. She explained that her village had hunters, and each of those hunters received that armor when they came of age, though her armor, apparently, had to be altered somewhat due to her considerable height - Varriden had to admit, he was rare that he met someone close to his own height, let alone taller than him. It was actually a somewhat strange feeling to have to look up at someone to talk to them.

"Admittedly, you are rather tall," Varriden said. "As for the weapon, I suppose I can understand that much. I received this weapon myself from the Empyrea Academy when I graduated." he said, patting the hilt of his greatsword that was strung over his back. "A gift from the weapon master on the campus. It's helped me in the past."

Varriden drew the greatsword off his back. "It's emblazoned with the seals of the houses. It's special to me for that, as I grew up in that academy. My education and my home." When he was gazing at the blade, though, he noticed something in the reflection of the blade - movement nearby in the brush. Varriden whipped his blade around in a semi-circle away from Libbier, as a stream of river water formed in midair around the path of his blade, one that swirled around both them just as arrows shot out of the nearby bushes, swatting them out of the air and shattering a few of them.

(OOC: Assuming it's a typo on the profile, but I'm guessing that Libbier isn't actually 7.5 meters tall, but 7.5 feet tall :P )

OOC: well yeah, Lib is 'only' 6.5 feet tall, u prolly saw Ray's height/lenght which is infact 7.5 meters. My sig has two links, clicking on the left side (Ray's face) leads to Ray's profile, and the right side to Lib's XD
Listening to Varriden, Lib couldn't but think he was some kind of academic. The fact that he wanted to check the Guild of Wishes market to see what they had, did help cement this idea. Well, that is if what he said was true, as Lib did not trust or knew him enough to be able to take his word for it. But as long has he didn't show any signs of being lying, there was no reason for Lib to not believe him. After all, just like she wasn't exactly saying the full truth of something's, Varriden had no reason to do so himself either, so there was no way Lib would judge him, or anyone else, negatively for something like that... she doesn't think that deeply into things, she is a more instinct based person.

She did think that Varriden's weapon was rather pretty, and she was rather flattered for being called tall, while at the same time being pretty amused knowing for sure Varriden had misunderstood her when she said her armor had to be custom made for her. It's true that her height would normally be a reason for it, but the fact was every hunter in her village got a custom made armor. Well, considering the average height in this country, she had long been used to have people's attention due to her height alone.

Suddenly, Ray caused her weapon to vibrate, and her instincts kicked in. But before she could say anything, Varriden swung his sword, and the result was a few arrows falling on the floor harmlessly.

They were under attack, by who or how many Lib couldn't tell yet, but they were organized enough to surround them before launching an attack.

Seeing the first attack fail did not faze the bandits, as the melee fighters left the bushes. They clearly wanted to fight. Lib smirked at their tenacity, she couldn't wait to see what they could do, but first.

"I know this isn't the time, but...", Lib started, "I'm actually the shortest person of my age on my village."

The men attacked, from all sides simultaneously, using arrows for support.

(OOC: Ah, I see, xD)

Varriden's watery shield deflected or broke the first volley on incoming arrows as the thieves emerged from hiding in the nearby brush. Lib hadn't reacted - at least in time to actually block the arrows - but clearly she'd detected something just before the arrows were launched, and Varriden noticed her gaze had flickered briefly towards her sword, though Varriden himself hadn't see the vibration due to being too busy blocking the incoming arrows.

"Really now?" Varriden said, when Lib mentioned that she was actually the most vertically challenged of her peers back in her home village. "I don't envy your other hunter friends - they'd have to duck their heads to get through most of the doors in Fiore if they wanted to go inside." Varriden said with a chuckle.

They didn't get a chance to have a more casual conversation after that, as the melee-fighters rush at them as one, more arrows flying in as they did so, though less in number, no doubt to avoid accidentally hitting one of their own allies in the assault, either due to poor aim or a deflection off of Varriden's water shield. "I'll handle the arrows and keep some of the melee ones off of us," Varriden said, slapping a trio of arrows out of the air with the sound of splashing water and shattering wood. "Think you can start thinning their numbers out a bit while I do that?"

Lib laughed at Varriden's reaction and comment to her previous statement.

"Hahahaha! Yeah I can see how you would think that, and it is true."

Lib saw the bandits closing it into melee range with a smirk on her face. At this point Varriden volunteered to handle the arrows and asked Lib if she could do something about the incoming ones.

"You don't need to ask me twice.", Lib replied as she did some warm up motions with her shoulders, "You should be more worried that there won't be any fun left after I'm done."

As she finished, Lib took a stance low to the ground. With her left palm on the floor, her stance was extremely stable as she used three of her limbs for support, her right arm held her large sword horizontally to the floor. Lib's face turns serious as she murmurs "Wind Runner", and dashes forward at her first target. She aimed slightly to the left and dashed past him, as a result she didn't even need to swing her sword, she simply ran it into her target's torso as she went past.

But she didn't stop there, changing direction, she went after her next prey. This time he was already aware of what she was doing, since he could see the results of her tactic, so Lib changed direction at the last moment, running past her prey from the right side. Reaching the limit of Wind Runner, Lib stomped her right foot firmly on the ground and spinned her body while swinging her weapon with an upward diagonal motion. Needless to say, her target did not see it coming.

Being now outside the protective range of Varriden, Lib casually raises her Wind Wall with her left hand, as she takes an archer like stance with her Crescent Blade. As she pushes back on the inexistente string, a magical arrow made of light appears. Lib aims it as the bandit closest to Varriden and releases the arrow, which hits its target squarely in the neck. Finally she points her left hand at the two last targets, intending to finish them off with another magical attack.

The ranged bandits do not stop firing their weapons, although they can no longer fire at will to avoid hitting their allies. The red hooded bandit stays out of sight, analyzing his foes. One thing he can tell from the get go. These are not your average run of the mill magicians. Even so, it only means the spoils will simply be better.

The two first bandits to get hit, were taken down fast, but that was part of the plan. Unnoticed by the woman, the two begin to get back up, and attack her from her blind spot.

"Thought as much," Varriden said with a slight chuckle. "Now, let's deal with our new friends, here."

Varriden's main focus was dealing with the arrows - the last thing they needed was a stray shot to hit one of them while they were busy fighting - but being Archive (and a student) had helped him learn how to split his focus somewhat without losing track of either target of interest. From her gear and armor, Varriden had expected Libier to be a melee-type fighter, and he was correct, but what surprised him was the sudden usage of magic in the form of a spell that boosted her speed - moreso the strength of it. She's no novice at this, both the casting or the combat, Varriden thought, somewhat impressed as his Decipher caught the burst of magic. I guess that blade and armor aren't just for show.

The only downside to the sudden burst of movement on her part was that it put it outside the range of Varriden's defensive shield, but that didn't seem to bother her much, as she was still dealing out strikes left and right while using a magical defense of her own to guard her back, leaving Varriden to focus on keeping himself defended from attacks with his own shield, though he'd attempt to keep her guarded as well, if he could remain close enough without getting in her way while she fought, that is. Currently, she was launching arrows into the bandits from her blade, which almost made sense, as Varriden had thought that the blade kinda resembled a bow in shape when he first saw it.

She was a bit too focused, however, as two of the ones she'd struck down were getting back to their feet - some would call that soft, but not Varriden, being guilty of the same restraint. Varriden's watery shield cut between the two bandits and Libier to block arrows aimed at her back, before Varriden himself ran in, elbowing the first bandit across the jaw and ducking under a swing from the second one, before driving the hilt of his greatsword into his gut, knocking him out proper this time.

Seeing as most of his underlings are taken out so easily, gives the red hooded leader no doubt that his targets are indeed strong. Having lost the element of surprise, and being overwhelmingly outmatched like this, he sees no way for his underlings to turn the fight around. Truly a shame, as he expected great things of this fresh recruits. Then again, new recruits were hard to come by, so he couldn't just let them fall here.

Giving the sign for retreat, the leader moved in to buy the remaining underlings to recover their fallen comrades.

Lib sees Varriden move from the corner of her eye, but ignores his movements as she is about to unleash an attack. Suddenly, however, a new bandit rushes out from the bushes to her side. Lib reacts almost instantly, sending a blast of wind towards the new enemy, who skilfully sidesteps the initial small area of effect cone, to which Lib responds by swinging her sword to met her opponent. The red hooded bandit manages to dodge by sliding while applying a leg sweep. Lib falls down on her back, but gets back on her feet almost instantly by rolling to the side. Her opponent however is not facing her.

The red hooded bandit ignores Lib and rushes towards Varriden. Before Varriden has a chance of doing anything, the red bandit throws a hand full of sand at his eyes.

Lib moves to attack the red bandit, but is stopped on her tracks by arrows fired from a different angle from the ones being blocked by her shield. Either there were more bandits than she thought, or they had relocated already. They didn't hit her, but then again they were aimed at the ground. After an instant, a blast of smoke came from it, covering Lib's field of view completely. The same arrows had been fired at Varriden's feet.

When the smoke lifted up, there were no more signs of the bandits that attacked them. Even the ones that had been taken down were nowhere to be seen.

"Well.", said Lib, still coughing from the smoke, "That was out of the ordinary, that's for sure.", she then turned to Varriden, "Should we chase them down?"
