Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Now this was her kind of job. Marceline grinned as she settled back in her seat on the train, eyes reading over the mission flyer in her hands. A small, piddly job, sure.. But it would prove to be no less fun! It was a job involving, of all things, putting cats into trees. Sure, people dedicate themselves to rescuing cats from them, but apparently that isn't someone's bag. Marcie, being a lover of causing mischief, was more than happy to help this cat hating individual get his jollies of cats stuck in trees. Rolling up the mission flyer, she folded it over at the center before tucking it into her bra. A woman's best pocket, of course. She reached up to poke around in her hair, looking for Moros; the small bird currently sleeping in the raven black mess of hair. After a few prods, she nudged the feathered creature. "Hey. Bird brain. We're almost to Magnolia. From the station, we need to meet up with the person wanting this job done, then we're going to shove some cats into trees, alright? If anything, I may need you for bait to lure some cats.." She snickered, stretching a bit. Moros grunted and shifted about in his little hiding place. He was far too tired for Marcie's shit.

The train soon groaned to a stop as it pulled into the train station. With a hiss and a final settling, people around her began to stand and head for the exit of the car. Standing as well, she grabbed her axe bass and slung the strap over her shoulder before shuffling out behind the other train occupants. Being someone who wasn't one for subtlety, she exited the train while distorting the space around her. Instead of stepping down onto the steps of the train car, she stepped outward onto a platform made from condensed spacial distortion. One step after another, she walked on each individual platform, crossing the train station in her usual less than subtle way until she stopped just outside it once greeted by a shady looking man that matched the description given to her by the guild. "You the cat hater?" She asked, straight to the point. The shady figure just nodded, passing Marceline further instructions for the mission before just...walking away.. Upon watching him leave, she could have sworn she saw a canine tail wagging beneath his trench coat.. But no matter! She opened the note and read it over. "Southgate Park.. Four cats. All four need to be placed in a tree. Any tree. And they HAVE to be stuck.. Man.. This guy really hates cats.. But! I get paid, so a job is a job! Let's go, Moros." Marcie, shoved this paper into her bra as well before stepping out into the streets of Magnolia, making her way to Southgate Park for a CATastrophic task at hand..

Having struck out on his own Esper had money but he needed more if he was going to grow strong and improve his magic. Not belonging to a guild limited what he could do but he lucked out and found a flyer to be an aid for a mission. While it wouldn't really help his reputation it would earn him the money he needs and possible even improve his magic. Not being one for or against mischief he read the mission flyer.

"Cats huh. Never thought I'd see the day where I'd get paid to put cats up into trees instead of taking them down. Money is money I suppose."

With a self nod the flyer would get rolled up and placed into his satchel as he leaned back to rest in his seat to sleep. He wasn't particularly tired and was well rested but he wasn't sure how long the train ride would be. Jutting his eyes open he immediately woke up again, mentally cursing his inability to sleep on a train. Peering around he watched the outside whisk by as he alternated between focusing on and off on the high speed movements in an attempt to train his eyes.

As the train proceeded forward on it's journey he noticed that the carriage lights would occasionally flicker from the vibrations. Strange he thought as they were being illuminated by magic as he focused on the vibrations of the train, the rhythmic churning of the train over the tracks finally rocking him to sleep. However, the train was beginning to slow and a stop appeared to be coming into view from the window as people stood around on a platform for loading and unloading. Standing up he would wait for the other on the train to get off first. It was his first train ride and he was going to enjoy his final moments on it.

"Let's see. I'm suppose to find a man here cloaked in robes with a dog broach on his chest."

Looking around he'd see such a person but it seemed another was already talking to him. A rather petite young woman around his age. Her stature was somewhat smaller than average, in terms of other females her age but for sure attractive all things considered, if not a little vampiric in appearance. Approaching non-threateningly he'd wait his turn for the woman to finish her conversation as he left her to move over to him. After a short conversation he'd be instructed that this was a guild mission and him not belonging to a guild meant he would be there only as a aid and to follow the commands of the actual guild mission receptor. Hurring along he'd move to catch up to the woman previously before him by the shady figures instructions on the way to Southgate Park.

"Excuse me. I believe you're here for the cat mission. I'm here to be your aid for the mission."

He's speak to her back. If she turned around he'd be standing with a smile as one hand scratched the top of his head in slight embarrassment. Even though he wasn't actually embarassed he was someone versed in acting and he had seen it work before to ease others into conversation in a nonthreatening way.

Marceline was nearly half way to Southgate park when she found herself being stopped by an unfamiliar male. She halted in her tracks, turning to face the individual whom had addressed her. She still stood atop a platform of condensed spacial magic, scarlet eyes staring down at the young male whom had approached her. "Hm? Whuh? An assistant? For something this easy? Er.. Well, I guess that's not so bad. I could use a hand with finding the damn cats. I'd hate to use Moros as bait.." Marceline shrugged. Couldn't exactly say no to free help. She stepped down to a lower platform, putting her at about eye level with the male. Ashen fingertips swept a few locks of ebon hair out of her face, tucking them behind pointed ears. This jostling caused a small avian head to peek out from the dense mess and stare down at the male as well while Marceline spoke. "Alright then. Just follow me. We're heading to Southgate Park since they're loads of trees there. And...well.. Since that's where I was instructed to go. Th' name's Marceline, by the way. Marceline Darshia. What about you? What guild y' serve, eh? I mean, since you're here to assist or whatever, y' must be in a guild, right?" Marcie asked while motioning for the male to follow her. Onward to Southgate Park.

Didn't take long for the duo to arrive, Marceline glancing about the part with sparked curiosity. Being in the winter months, the park wasn't overly busy with people roaming about. The woman scratched her right cheek, scarlet hues scanning about for any signs of cats around. There had to be some somewhere. There's always stray cats, no matter where you were. Cats were everywhere. But they were always hiding. Slinking about like sneak thieves. Stealing food, killing vermin, vomiting everywhere. Marcie shuddered, then peered back at the male tag-a-long. "So. This is how we're gon' start. I need four cats. Only four. So. You're going to help me find them. Since this is my job, and you're just supposed to like...assist or whatever.. You can help me find these cats. Meow, use string, pose as a bird, I don't care what'cha do. We just need these cats. And watch out for their lil' toe daggers. They're a doozy." Marcie nodded, hands resting on her hips while awaiting the male's responses.

It seemed he had managed to catch up the woman and his coy attitude didn't put her on any undo alert. Was good since approaching a woman out of nowhere traveling around on magic might not have been the safest...or wisest of maneuvers. Starting he waited for her to come to meet his eyes and ask questions. Meeting her gaze he'd catch the scent of strawberries, maybe a hint of something else but there was a slight chilled breeze that hide whatever it might be.

"Strawberries...scarlet eyes. A piercing color for someone of her skin tone and dark attire. It's really catching. Then again it's also the color of blood and I get the feeling this woman isn't someone to be trifled with. Wait! What is this, Spatial magic? I wonder if she uses spatial magic like I do. I had no idea it could be employed to create platforms. Best I can do right now is alter my interaction within space to increase my speed."

While the thoughts were instant and there was a degree of inner shock he'd not give any real cue of it as he dropped the coy act to give a slow bow of the head.

"I'm Esper d'Vadalis. It's nice to meet you and your friend there Marceline. I um...I don't belong to a guild. I only just became a mage and traveled here for work from my home in the East Forest just outside the city. I wager it's why I'm only an assistant to help you out."

Esper not normally giving his full name contemplated why he did traveling with Marceline the rest of the way to the park. His family was once renowned for owning the best mageware shop in the City and members of his bloodline where known for their ability to train animals and magical beasts. He himself had an uncanny knack with animals and they just seemed to like him due to his Animal Handling Skills. Once arriving at the park he'd take to her orders to find four cats and to use whatever means necessary, even by posing as a bird but before doing so he'd ask her what was bugging him.

"Your magic. Is it spatial magic? How did you condense it into a platform?"

Marcie perked a brow when the man bowed his head to her. Now that was new. People don't often bow to her. She smirked. She could get used to this. A wave of spacial distortion radiated from her form, she touching down to solid ground. The platform on which she had been previously standing vanished the moment her foot left it. The wave of distortion dissipated, Marceline extending a hand to pat the male's right shoulder. "Esper, eh? And not in a guild yet? Heh. You're a wanderer, then! Maybe I can butter you up and talk you into coming to Tartaros someday, Espurr.~" Marceline smirked, chuckling softly before letting her hand rest back at her hip. The male seemed troubled by something, which became clear once he asked about her magic after being given her orders for his part in her job. She grinned wider, bearing those fanged pearlesque teeth of hers. "Lookit you, Espurr! Pretty observant, aren't ya? Yes, my magic is spatial. But it's a special kind I've obtained through rigorous training with the beast of all beasts. Mother of dragon kind. And kind of a hard-ass, in a motherly way.. Good ol' Astrea herself. In other words, I'm a Dragonslayer. Of sorts.. One of a kind, y'know? Blah blah.."

With a dismissive wave of her hand, she tried her best to keep from rambling on about Astrea and her boon earned by Marceline. She knew she couldn't say too much about it. It was a pretty intensive and slightly secretive thing. At least, that's the impression Marceline got from their discussions during her time with her. 'Beware of hubris..' This was a phrase that stuck with Marceline. Astrea's own words that seemed to stick well with the woman. A phrase she's been learning to live by. She relished in the gift, and didn't want to go ticking off the mother dragon and losing her power...

Esper would remained expressionless for the most part and just listened to Marceline talk about dragonslayers, dragons and Astrea the mother of dragons after confirming she indeed used spatial magic. Smiling after everything she had to say he'd show his great smile as he scanned the area for any cats.

"I've read about dragons and that they once taught to humans. Dragonslayers must be the title of those given to those trained by them but I have never heard of what they could or couldn't teach and have never heard or read of this Astrea. Still it sounds like you were given quite a gift and from the top echelon of dragon kind no less.

I see some two cats over there but before I go catch them can you tell me about Tartaros?"

"Let's see. Last I heard of Tartaros would be when my parents were still alive. If memory serves they are located in Coreopsis and known for their mercenary like motivation to do anything without asking questions as long as the pay is good. A Dark guild that seems more neutral to me. I wonder if they are still the same or not."

While waiting for an answer Esper would look down as a CAT was rubbing up against his leg. It's back arching as it's purred in comfort before pouncing forward to slam it's paw down on a small lizard. Stepping forward and bending down he'd reach to pick it up and hand it over to Marceline as the lizard got away, the cat now munching on the tail left behind in it's escape. Unfortunately in the process of his talking he noticed the two cats off in the distance where now running away getting chased by a dog and would be long gone by the time he made it over to them.

"You've never heard of Astrea?! Are you not from Fiore? Maaan, like...a couple or so years ago, she made herself known to the people of Fiore. She appeared in Trillium and completely destroyed the city! How are you not aware of this?! After that, all these riddles popped up all over Fiore. Those lucky enough to solve it and find Astrea would be lucky enough to ask a boon of her. I just happened to ask to learn her magic." Marceline shrugged, then peered at the male, having gone off of on one of her little speeches. She found that he had a cat in his hands. Perking a brow, she wondered when this even happened. Had he gotten it when she was off in her own little world while talking? Regardless, it was just what she needed. One out of four cats obtained!

Taking the cat into her hands, she now began to look for a prime tree to firmly trap the feline in. The cat, being a perceptive thing, got a feeling of dread from Marceline and began to thrash about. Claws swiped at whatever was closest, catching Marcie on the cheek with those tiny paw knives. Marcie winced, inhaling sharply through clenched teeth. Beads of ebony tinted blood rose from the trio of parallel scratch marks now adorning her visage. Ruddy beast. To subdue the cat, she gripped it by the scruff of its neck. The cat instantly seemed to freeze, bottom end curling upward against its belly. Marcie let out a soft breath, rubbing her cheek with her free hand, though this only smeared the blood about. "Geez, what a friggin' menace.. Holy hell, that stung.. Gonna love shoving you into a tree.." Marcie hissed, attention still shifting about in search for a good tree.

Finally, she spots one. A fine sakura tree with tall branches. If placed high enough, the cat wouldn't be tempted to jump down. She smirked, peering at Esper before motioning for him to follow. With that, she kept a firm grip on the cat while walking towards the chosen tree, finally explaining Tartaros to Esper while they walked. "Okay, so to me? Tartaris is like family. Bunch of ruffians and drifters. Powerful folks, some of them. Like Ryo. That man.. He's the reason why I joined Tartaros.. And that magnificent red hair.. If only he'd let me eat the red from it..just once.. Er.. Anyway. We're mercenaries. We're family. It's a good place for dark mages and neutral mages alike. Mostly dark.." Marcie shrugged, then with spatial distortion forming around her she began to ascend up the tree with the aide of platforms made of distortion. This made getting the cat to the top of the tree the easy part. She then placed the cat on the top most branches, then snapped off branches below the one on which the cat was perched. To make any potential for escape harder, she took a questionable tube of slick gel from her bag. Squeezing a generous portion into her hand, she smeared it around the trunk below the branch. Just to make it slick. She wiped the excess gel on her pants, then tucked the tube back into her bag. Best not to ask why she had such a thing on her in the first place.. Once the deed was done, she descends to rejoin Esper, admiring the handiwork while the cat just mewls in distress. Perfect!

Looking up as she placed the cat in the tree he'd witness her pulling out a tube of slick gel that got rubbed into the bark of the tree to make it slippery. A bit confused he'd cock his eyebrow up showing he was curious about why he had such an item in the first place and wanted to ask. Knowing that would be an unwise move he'd instead touch on her comments from before.

"Well...no I've never heard of Astrea and yes I'm from Fiore. I grew up here around the city...well just outside it in the east forest. You wouldn't be the first person to ask if I've been living under a rock all my life, which isn't far from the truth since I've lived in a tree past several years. These riddles sound interesting. So you're saying I could solve a riddle to find this Astrea and get a boon from her? I can't say I'd ask her to teach me her magic but If she was capable of it I'd want her to increase my magical power. "

Looking around again Esper would scan the area for more cats. Not seeing any he'd cross his arms with one arm posed up under the chin to think. The one caught cat in the meantime would begin to cry and meow loudly as park goers started to stare and point at the pair. Not paying any attention to them he'd go deep into his thoughts.

"Let's see. We could lay out food for to entice the cats. We could also use her pet bird as bait but she'd prob beat me down if I suggested something...well then again maybe not if she's from Tartaris. After all they are known to do whatever it takes to get the job done and to honor the job. Speaking of Tartaris, I like the idea they like a family and I'm sort of a drifter myself or more closely a wanderer now."

Snapping his fingers to note he had thought of something he'd look at the Spatial Dragonslayer with a interested look, even if it was minimal.

"What do you mean eat the red from it? That's quite the odd thing to say."

"Huh?" Marcie snapped back to reality after going off into La-La Land amongst staring off at the cat trapped in the tree. Scratchy bastard. Sure, it was just defending itself.. But her face! Her precious face! Marred by cat finger daggers. She grunted softly, rubbing her cheek and smearing the inky black blood against her alabaster flesh. How annoying. Either way, she directed her attention back to the one whom had addressed her, a brow perked when he asked what she meant by eating the red from Ryo's magnificent scarlet locks. "Oh, well.. Y'see. I don't eat normal food like most. I mean.. I can. But my favourite food just happens to be the colour red. Y'see... I'm not ENTIRELY human. I was born in a lab. I was born from a hyper-developed parasite. This parasite eats colour out of things. So, I can sap the colour red out of objects. For instance..." She paused, digging around in her pockets to fish out a small rubber ball. Why did she have a ball in her pocket? Who knows! But it was there, and it was red.

Taking the ball, she held it to her mouth. Biting down before drawing in an inhale the colour began to leave the ball, starting at the bottom and slowly creeping up to the top where her teeth held it. In a matter of seconds, the ball was no longer red, but a dull shade of grey. The woman slowly ran her tongue over her lips before smirking. "See? Just like that. Pretty neat, huh? And Master Ryo has the reddest hair I've ever seen. It looks delicious. I want a bite. I got a taste only once. So hot that it scorched my tongue. Like taking a sip of coffee that's waaay too hot, y'know? But it was perfect. So perfect." The woman swooned, drooling over Ryo's hair. Not even Ryo himself. Just hair hair. More so the colour of it. She couldn't help herself. In her moment of swooning, she dropped the rubber ball, sending it bouncing along the ground. This brought a stray cat out from hiding, the feline bounding after the colourless ball in an attempt to catch it. Moros, spotting the cat first, began to tug at Marcie's hair and shirt, trying to get her attention. Or maybe Esper could catch the cat again if Marcie couldn't.

For Esper to show a real emotion was rare when not acting and for him to show emotion that wasn't minimal was even more rare. With a shocked face but highly inquisitive look he'd stagger slightly after hearing about the fact she was born from a hyper-developed parasite, one that eats color and by extension now her. Watching her eat the red out of the ball he'd think to himself about how he was glad he wasn't wearing any red at the moment or that his hair wasn't red like her friends. As the spark of hunger for knowledge overwhelmed him he'd take a step forward to better inspect Marcie and inquire about her more, the thirst not being out of character but the actions very much so for those who know Esper.

"Wait..Marcie, may I call you Marcie? You're born from a parasite or you are a humanoid parasite? What is your race called and I am to assume your blood is black due to not being human? When you eat the color red does it weaken or disrupt what you ate in anyway? Can it regain it's color or is it forever gone without the aid of outside magic?

Wait what about the fact you're a dragon slayer? I know dragons can eat elements but can a dragon slayer do so as well? Does this mean you can eat both the color red and spatial distortions? Oh! If I was to toss a bolt of spatial distortion at you could you eat it unharmed? Not that I can sadly, I'm not capable of any offensive magic yet."

After asking the slew of questions the cat would go completely unnoticed to Esper as he waited for anticipated answers. Not that it would matter for he was focused on her for the moment and the cats could be gather later, unless he had just crossed social lines and wigged his mission partner out.
