Verrin wasn't quite sure what his next move was... Normally, Marshall took point. He wasn't exactly the best leader, but he had drive, that was for sure. It had been a while since he'd come around... even longer since they'd trained together. While, on some level, Verrin couldn't stand Bellum's guts, he had to admit, they made a good team. "Ah, damn... I miss him." Verrin clutched at the side of his head, obviously annoyed by this realization. He didn't want to get bummed out because of Marshall (I mean, really, of all people?). He tried to remember just what hanging out with Marshall normally entailed: shouting, fighting, trouble- "It was a bit of fun, though, wasn't it?" It was just starting to get dark in Magnolia, although the streetlights hadn't even started to come on yet. For the most part, the city was fairly busy, although not overly crowded, as far as Verrin was concerned, this was the best time to go out. He had just finished up a few rounds in the ring, and was getting ready to go home, maybe take a nap before he came back to watch some of the bigger-name bouts. Verrin had just gotten changed out of his trunks and was leaving the gym. His duffle was dragging on the floor, his hair still wet from the shower. His fight had gone pretty well, although it seemed that DuFresne was still making him look like a chump by comparison. The dull sky, the constant drizzle, combined with his loneliness and humiliation, it was no wonder that Verrin wasn't in the best of spirits. Still, it was just another day, right? "Nah... today sucks." Verrin's stomach gurgled and churned. That's right... He hadn't eaten anything today except a bit of yogurt and a banana. He could really go for something deep-fried and covered in dressing. Still, he figured that his trainer wouldn't particularly like that idea, especially since he had taken him on as a favor, in the first place. A salad, that's the plan for dinner: romaine lettuce, some tomatos, a bit of onion... maybe some dressing- "No~ can't let myself slip that easily!" ((OoC: Well, as I always say to people I'm new to RPing with, feel free to hang off or jump into Verrin's story whenever you feel like. I tend to ramble a bit, so you can hang off if you feel like you want to establish your character a bit as well before we meet up~)) |

Liliana had just arrived at the Magnolia Train Station with a bag in her hand and a bright smile on her face. The girl's eyes were lit up with excitement of being here and she let out a shout of joy. "WOOHOOOOOOO!!! I finally made it!!!" She jumped up in the air and then started to skip into town. The first place on her tourist to do list, see the famous Guild of Fairy Tail! Even though there was a smile that stretched all the way across her face, there was a growl in her stomach that she tried to ignore. It had taken her last few jewels to get here. The girl didn't even have enough to get a roof over her head to sleep for tonight. But that didn't matter right now!! All that mattered in the world was that she was here now and having fun. Liliana stared with a gawking expression at all of the buildings, like she did at every new town she went to. She wanted to see everything there was to see. Sometimes though, that came at a cost of paying attention to who was around her. Luckily the day was starting to wind down so there weren't too many people on the street, but still enough that she should've really been watching where she was going. Quite a few people had already moved out of her way and growled at her. She just kept walking, forgetting that she was supposed to apologize after causing someone else grief. The girl made it to the Fairy Tail Guild doors and stared up at the building in awe and wonder. This was one of the times she had a camera or some kind of photo taking magic in order to save a moment like this forever. She felt like she could stand here for hours to soak up all of this atmosphere. It was an amazing feeling to be standing in the presence of such beauty and power. And then her stomach rumbled. "So much for that..." She giggled and skipped along the streets again, wondering what to do. Maybe she should try to find a tree or something to sleep in for the night. |

It was only a few more blocks to his house, and there was some fix-ins for a good snack in the fridge. The only problem was that... A few weeks before, Verrin had sent in his application. He'd heard about Fairy Tail when he still lived with his family, when his father was still forcing him to follow in the family business. It's why he'd set up in Magnolia in the first place. He wanted to be a Fairy Tail mage. Instead of just passing by the guild hall like he did every day, Verrin stopped in his tracks. He'd had a shitty day, and maybe- maybe this was just the icing on the cake. They'd rejected him... Outright. Said he didn't have the stuff. He wasn't ready to join up with a bunch of goody-two-shoes Fairy-Tailed losers. He shouted out loud, the streets quickly emptying as the storm started to pound down harder. "YOU BUNCH OF PHONEYS~! YA NO-GOOD, ELITIST PRICKS! SUCK ON THESE~!" With that, Verrin groped at his crotch with one hand, spitting on the stairs of the illustrious guild hall. His gym bag lay, momentarily forgotten, so that Verrin could use his other hand to salute Fairy Tail in a way which required only one finger, and a complete lack of class. He was the son of a weapon-smith, not some hoity-toity noble. Ettiquette and higher-learning never really made it into his vernacular... Nor the word "vernacular" for that matter. He bust up, laughing at the outburst like it was the best joke he'd ever heard. After a few more laughs and much more stares, Verrin snatched up his soaked duffel from the sidewalk and slung it over his shoulder. Water dripped in his eyes as he continued to trudge home, a contented grin stuck on his face. Well, that made him feel a bit better. |

It had started to pour as Liliana continued to stare up at the building. Well, that settled that, she really should be on her way. Her stomach was gurgling now. How long had it been since she ate anyway? The girl shook her head. That wasn't important right now. She couldn't let this bad weather bring her down!! Just as she was about to turn and leave, she heard someone start shouting. She blinked and looked back at the boy just in time to see him use a signal she was unfamiliar with. The girl tilted her head and started to get curious. What could that sign mean!? She needed to know. As the boy started to walk away, he might be able to see the small girl following behind him with a smile that looked especially creepy in this storm. As soon as she caught up to him, she grabbed his sleeve and tugged on it lightly. "Hi there sir! What does the sign you just used mean? And why did you spit on the stairs and call them phoneys?? They are real wizards right? And doesn't phoney mean pretending to be something you're not?? Or am I wrong about that? I'm pretty sure I'm not though because it's used in books all the times..." She paused to think for just a moment before nodding, certain she was right. "Yeah. It definitely means what I thought it meant... Oh!" She remembered manners that she had almost forgotten. "My name is Liliana, by the way! You're supposed to greet someone like that before talking to them I think... Anyway!! Back to my original question... What does this mean??" The girl then gave him the same classy finger he had just given the guild. |

Verrin didn't quite know what to say. Marshall didn't understand social norms either, but this was... something new. At least he had understood an insult when he heard it. This girl... She was something else. It seemed like she hadn't even met someone who knew anything about human interaction. Was she even technically considered human at that point? Verrin was just about to ignore her when she flipped him the bird, naively asking what it meant. "Name's Verrin," he sighed, "and that... well, let's just say it's not nice." "I've just been pissed at those Fairy Tail Losers ever since they denied me membership..." He adjusted his bag on his back as he attempted to keep walking. He didn't want to stay in the rain any longer than he had to, and at this point, he felt it was already too much. Still, his stomach hadn't stopped it's grumbling, and he began to wonder if his time might be better served grabbing a bite to eat. There was bound to be a restaurant nearby for him to get something that wouldn't make his trainer scream at him. There wasn't much in the way of Verrin's normal food-groups, and most of that was fried food anyways (and therefore out of the question), but there was a restaurant nearby that Verrin had been meaning to try out. It wasn't exactly four-star dining, but it had a charm to it which the young boxer couldn't deny. Maybe they'd make something good and (hopefully) healthy. Still, with a name like Beef Baron's, maybe Verrin was hoping for a bit too much. ((OoC: Not 100% sure what your plans are right now, but Verrin just wants to get out of the rain. I didn't mention your character, simply because IDK how she would respond to that. She may have decided to follow him, or maybe got annoyed with him ignoring her and left... So I didn't say anything concrete about her, just what Verrin was focused on.)) |

The petite girl was now shivering as the rain poured down, making her pink bangs fall into her face covering her crystal blue eyes. Liliana looked up at him hopefully as he started to talk, and smiled brightly when he told her his name. That meant that they could be friends, right!? She then listened to him talk about being upset with Fairy Tail because they didn't allow him into the guild. Just as she was about to respond to him though, the boy continued to walk right past her. She blinked in a bit of confusion, but then realized that he probably just didn't want to stand out here in the storm! That made sense. So she decided that she would follow him, skipping along with that shiny smile plastered between her ears. It had only been a few seconds since he had finished speaking, but she felt the need to try and continue the conversation. "Nice to meet you, Verrin!! So, I probably shouldn't use it anymore, huh? Okie dokie then!!" She then thought about how to react to his Fairy Tail problem and thought for only a moment before talking again. "How long ago did you put in the application or whatever?? Maybe you just didn't meet the requirements yet!! I'm sure that if you've grown stronger then they're sure to let you in this time!!" She giggled, seeing the world through rose colored glasses. When they got to the restaurant, however, those glasses fell off suddenly. She bit her lip, understanding that he must be hungry too. But, the difference was, he probably had money to get food for himself. And she couldn't impose on someone that she had just met like that. If there was only one thing she knew, the girl knew the value of a jewel. She smiled and waved to him as he got to the doors of the building. "It's been nice to meet you, Verrin!! I hope we can run into each other again sometime!!!" Her stomach then betrayed her and growled loud enough for him to hear it even over the raging storm around them. The girl blushed in embarrassment and then giggled nervously. "Welp. See ya around!!" She ran off, not knowing what else to do. For some reason she felt like it was a bad idea to stick around. Maybe it was just because she got embarrassed, or maybe it was because she was afraid he would offer to pay for her and then she wouldn't know what to do in return. Either way, she didn't want to find out. |

"It's been nice to meet you, Verrin!! I hope we can run into each other again sometime!!!" Verrin cocked his head to one side, not quite comprehending what he just heard. He turned on his heel to find that the girl from in front of the guild hall was the origin. He looked at her, then down at himself. Lastly, he glanced down the street, from the way he came. Liliana ran off, calling back to Verrin as she went. "Welp. See ya around!!" "... Was she... following me?" Verrin shrugged it off. There were definitely wierder people around Fiore. He figured it wasn't worth worrying over, instead getting a seated near the window. He ordered what he needed, setting his bag off to the side. The window wasn't glassed in for the most part, but the awning overhead combined with the half-glass window, kept most of the rain out of the restaurant. Verrin sloughed his shirt off, leaning out the window to ring all the excess water out of it. "Well," he sighed, "Better than nothing..." It was only a minute or two before the young boxer had a plate of green in front of him, topped with bits of bacon and croutons... No dressing. Verrin stabbed his fork into the salad multiple times, pulling out a forkful of lettuce, peppered with onion and tomato. He looked at it for a moment before stuffing the whole thing into his mouth. It was incredibly fresh, he noted, the tomatos were firm and the lettuce was crisp. He may have bemoaned his options before, but now, he was glad he decided on the salad. "So gooood~" ((OoC: So, I figure Verrin wouldn't have really taken the hints you put down, and even if he did, he's not exactly free with his money. However, I still don't intend for us to stay separated for this topic. We'll find a way to get back together, I'm sure. Also, may I suggest color-code: F1A (instead of color=pink, it would be color=#F1A), as it is easier to read than the light/pale pink you are using now.)) |

The girl kept running away from the restaurant, huffing and puffing as the stinging rain hit her face. Where was she going? The pink haired wizard slowed to a walk and looked around herself at the surroundings. It was hard to tell in this weather where she was though. As if being new in town wasn't hard enough, having it storm wasn't helping things. She bit her lip and tried to focus on just one building at a time. Where was she? Was she anywhere near a park or something? Though, in this downpour, even a tree wouldn't be able to shelter her. A sigh escaped the girl's lips and she bit her quivering lip as tears filled her eyes, though she just thought it was rain. Her footsteps were heavy as she decided to just go to the edge of the nearest building and sit down. At least this way some of her body was out of the direct line of rain. Her sopping wet hair hung down into her face and she hugged her knees to her chest. It was difficult to try and keep her spirits up like always, and she was starting to falter. "S-stupid rain... Th-the only time rain is good is when it's being used to make a rainbow. I want to be a rainbow all the time. Just... just being rain is dumb. It's dumb! There's no reason to have tears fall down your cheek like rain drops! Th-there's always someone who has it worse than you so you don't have any reason to complain!! S-stop it!!!" At this point the girl was sobbing, her shoulders heaving with every gasp of breath. She hated being sad. She didn't see the reason for it. At least, she tried to say that. Unfortunately, her heart had other ideas. Liliana sat there in the cold, rain pouring down her cheeks, knees in her chest, and head in her knees. The girl would sit there for hours. However, after about 30 minutes, she'd be all cried out and near exhaustion. After about an hour, she'd have fallen asleep, slumping over to lay down on the sidewalk, unable to stop herself. (OOC: I was thinking maybe she wound up in front of his house?? If you don't like that idea I can think of something else...) |

Verrin finished his meal in silence and fairly good spirits. His shirt wasn't exactly dry, but it wasn't like that would matter much, once he stepped back out into the storm. Still, he plucked it from the hook he'd hung it on and slipped it onto his back, the fabric clingling tightly to his skin. He shuddered against the sudden cold. Leaving a few jewels for the tip, Verrin stepped back into the rain. He wished that he had an umbrella, but rain hadn't really been a concern when he left early this morning. The streetlamps had finally come on, each one illuminating a globe of rain, surrounding each bulb. An artist might find the light reflecting off the droplets beautiful... Verrin didn't much notice it, his head turned towards the ground as he trudged through the streets. He was about to enter his building when he saw a familiar face. She was dressed in a tank top and sweat-pants, and she seemed to be soaked to the bone. Her pink hair hung in her face, peeking out from under her hat. The rain lightly trickled on her sleeping form, the overhang of the ceiling protecting her from the main of the downpour. Verrin nudged the sleepin girl with his foot, staring down at her with a look that seemed to teeter between annoyed and concerned. "You're... Laura, right?" he grumbled, stumbling over the girl's name, "Did you follow me home or something? Don't you have somewhere else to go?" Verrin sighed at her response, pulling his keys from his pocket. Fumbling through them for a moment, verrin finally unlocked the door, gesturing for Liliana to enter in as gentlemanly a way as he could muster. Inside, they found themselves at the bottom of a narrow stairwell. Straight ahead, one would find the manager's entrance to a hotdog place that Verrin rented his room from. At the top of the stairs, a door, also locked. "Up the stairs is my place. I got some dry clothes and a hot shower." he said authoritatively, "C'mon, let's go. I don't have all night to play the hero, over here." ((OoC: Yeah, I figured that even if you end up lying or whatever you wanted to do with your response, Verrin's gonna figure that someone sleeping in the gutter needs a place to go for a bit... and that unless that bag is water-proof, all your stuff is soaked, too. EDIT: feel free to go in: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Fairy_Tail_Guild/topic/5937015/1/)) Edited by Fairchild, Jan 15 2016, 04:15 AM.

OOC: Warning - Filler~ Even in her mind, the pink haired girl couldn't escape the freezing chill that continuously ran down her spine. Liliana was having a terrible nightmare. At home, all alone, her mother couldn't get into town for some reason and needed Liliana to do it for her. However, the girl had already left on her adventure. Her mother felt betrayed and abandoned and somehow, the girl could feel these thoughts overwhelming her mind and she screamed. Racing, charging through every obstacle, Liliana had to make it back to her mother in time. Tears were streaming down her face as she tried to make it back home. When she got there though, the only thing that was left was a skeleton sitting in her mother's favorite rocking chair, crocheting a beautiful blanket that she instinctively knew was for her. The girl dropped down on her knees and began to sob. A ghost of her mother appeared behind her and began to speak in an eerily sick tone, her breath smelling of rotten fruit. "You abandoned me! You left me with no one to take care of me! How could you?? My own daughter leaving me behind. You don't deserve to be a rainbow. You're nothing but coal. Ugly, black coal." As soon as Liliana turned to look at her though, the woman had vanished. Before she could do anything else in her dream, she felt a nudge from the outside world, and a familiar voice... OOC: End filler~ Liliana slowly opened her tear stained eyes and looked up, taking a moment to focus on what she was actually seeing. The girl sniffled but wiped her tears away quickly when she saw who it was. That guy from earlier! What was his name again... "V-verrin!? Huh? Oh... I didn't realize this was your house!! It's actually Liliana though, not Laura, but you were close!!" She giggled, but something didn't seem quite as joyous as the last time they met. Though it certainly could have just been the weather. The girl then thought about his second question, trying to think of an answer for him quick."I umm... I was just stopping here on my way too-!!... umm..." She growled at herself. She didn't even know a name of a single hotel or anything so that she could lie properly to him. Before she could think of something clever to say, he was already fishing for his keys. The girl's eyes swam in fear and nerves, but it wasn't like she could honestly say no at this point. If she stayed out in that weather for much longer she could catch pneumonia. Actually, it was quite possible she had already caught it. When he opened the door, she followed him in with cherry red cheeks and a nose to match. Her head looking down at the ground as she made a puddle on the floor. She had to snap out of it though. The girl shook her head and instantly put on a cheesy grin for him. "Thank you for the wonderful hospitality, Verrin!! It's greatly appreciated! I don't have much to offer in return, but I could do the dishes or sweep or vacuum for you maybe??" She didn't really know what she was talking about, but she felt horrible for coming into his home uninvited and not giving something in return. She followed him up the stairs and into his apartment. Looking around, no matter how it actually was, she would smile politely. "Nice place you have here! Thank you again for letting me stay for a while... I promise as soon as the storm lets up I'll be out of your hair!!" |
