Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Another mission! Cleia felt a bit excited. Even though it wasn't some hardcore mission that would involve a lot of action, it was one step to becoming stronger and gaining more renown. After all, that was one of the reasons mages joined guilds. Once she was done with a few more of these kinds of missions, perhaps people would start to recognize her. She might even be allowed by the guild master to try out tougher missions.

But not to get ahead of ourselves... It all started about an hour before this exact moment, when Cleia made her routine stop at the guild to see if there was anything interesting. So far, nothing seemed out of the ordinary... ordinary, in the guild being random brawls, some crazy music which was occasionally good, and many loafers. All of a sudden, a courier man had come in and placed a mission note on the guild bulletin board. Cleia had made her way over there in record time, and on seeing that it was a D-rank mission, had quickly snatched it off the wall. She had then hurriedly taken her leave from the guild and raced home to make a few preparations.

And now at the present moment: Cleia stepped out of her house in simple, utilitarian clothes, best suited for rigorous activity. She didn't bother taking any weapons along with her; it was a D-rank mission, so nothing too bizarre was expected to happen. The last mission she'd taken had taken a twist for the dangerous, though it still ended up being hilarious... not to mention that such events were rare occurrences. It was at this point in time that she discovered that she had not even read the contents of the mission paper.

Unfolding the letter in her hand, she read its contents, and her face changed from slight concern, to amusement, to slight irritation, and eventually ended up with an expression that simply said: "yuck!" It was very likely that the client would have a personality issue, what with the way the mission had been written out. Not eager to face persons with inclement attitudes, she was minded to return the mission, but she decided against it. One, that did not seem very cool. She had committed herself by taking it up, and so she ought to see it to the end. Secondly, it was not uncommon for certain people to display some annoying tendencies and behaviors, something that she would have to live with for as long as she interacted with humans, especially the very rich, spoilt and proud folk. Ironically, the rich had the money, and mages did missions to get money. What a life!

"Perhaps doing this mission with some good company might take the boredom or irritation out of things," Cleia mused, as she returned to the guild, although she did not step inside. She hovered around outside, hoping to see a friendly face, or any of her nakama that was leaving the guild with nothing to do. If she didn't see anyone pretty soon, she would just have to face the mission on her own, and hope that the client was more agreeable than the mission paper let on.

For someone who had spent a good deal of her most recent years wandering about without a place to call home, not because she couldn't, but merely as a result of force of habit, Desire found the whole issue of taking up permanent residence in a single place a little bit annoying. True, Magnolia was beautiful, and Desire had always appreciated beauty of any kind (or, okay, let's say most kinds), besides, the members of her newly-joined guild were quite the handful (truth was, Desire would probably have fled if she had to be roped in with a more 'decent' guild), but there were days when there would be lulls....

....like today.

Desire had woken up with a craving for activity, but it appeared today would be one of them days set to slow-mo and dipped in a tub of glycerine. Quite early enough, she had gone to the guild hall building, but almost everyone seemed to be asleep still, so the pink-haired mage had decided to take a walk to occupy herself. In time, this eventually bored her, so Desire returned home to think up something to do or sit out the day in misery.

After a light breakfast, an idea came to mind. Why not attempt to take a mission? Desire had seen the guild's mission board, and she had seen a number of interesting things on it, although she had heard, much to her chagrin, that people weren't just allowed to take whatever missions they wanted, "wouldn't want them young'uns running off to hunt demon reavers and being returned as mincemeat," someone had said. Desire didn't know what a demon reaver was, but she immediately saw the logic in regulating missions that way.

Whatever the case, maybe she would try her hand at a mission. As things went, she wasn't too lousy, even though she knew she was far from the top rung of mage-material. All the same, someone with her skill level was likely to find something more scintillating than the hideous rumors she had heard about newbie mages being sent off to do work that emotionally scarred some of them for life. After dressing up and arming herself with all her equipment, the Take Over mage got out onto the still not-so-busy street.

As she approached the Fairy Tail guildhall, Desire thought she saw someone standing alone outside the gates. There were two things that made her certain she knew who that was. For starters, few people had runes which danced around them from time to time, such a pleasing cosmetic effect. Second, most of the Magnolian folk were of fairer complexion than this person. The fact that the person was shorter than Desire (who was quite annoyed with her wanting height) made the pink-haired girl smile with recognition.

"Well, if it isn't Shortstuff," Desire crowed with delight, skipping over to meet Cleia, delight written all over her features. "What are you doing, standing outside the gate like they locked you out of the guild? Aren't you bored just standing there like that? We should find something more fun to do, 'cos I seem to be inflicted with the same disease," she said, assuming that, like herself, Cleia was at a loss for what to do. As she spoke, she made sure to 'unconsciously' display her new guild stamp on the back of her left hand as she gestured with that hand in such a way that it wouldn't look like she was trying to show it off. Desire wanted to see her friend's response to the knowledge that the two girls were now in the same guild. Cleia had given her an invitation to join a while back, anyway.

Elsewhere, another girl was on the prowl for the job. Just not what either other one would think. Proceeding into Magnolia, a place she never really intended to visit often, she made her way to the home where the woman in the job request was located. The job was simple it seemed. Finding a lost pet. As an 'animal lover' herself, Syeena couldn't help but feel sympathetic to this job. She didn't have any other missions going on right now so she thought she would do this one.

Someone , however, didn't agree. "Why this job of all things?" A sassy black cat wearing a witch's hat said. "This is so beneith you," the cat said as she was held in her owner's arms.

Syeena strolled down the path, dressed in her nerdy looking reporter gear. In this attire and dress, no one should recognize her as The Temperance of Grimore Heart. Just as a nerdy looking, ditzy pretending girl who was a reporter at times. It seemed like a good cover while in Magnolia.

"I'm aware, but I thought I'd do this just to kill time till real mission shows up. Besides, what is the worse that can happen," Syeena replied as they continued down, seeing the Fairy Tail guild hall along the way and a few girls chatting beside the gate.

Hex merely drooped her ears as she hid her face under her hat. "Some ideas cross my mind..." she mewed in a sad tone.

Syeena just shook her head, her black hair swishing behind her. "Don't be such a sour puss. We just are going to find a lady's lost pet. No big deal. Besides, she may be a cat person. You ever think of that?" Syeena asked.

"Oh, joy..." Hex replied sarcastically as they approached closer to their destination.

Cleia turned on hearing the moniker "Shortstuff", with a wry smile on her face. There was one person she knew who always called her by that name. It was interesting to see how the two had so quickly bonded, and become fast friends, even though they seemed to be on opposite sides of the behavioral spectrum.

"Well, if it isn't Didi. Glad to see you around. Yes, I'm pretty much bored. No, I wasn't locked out of the guild... I was wondering though, could you...?"

Cleia was going to ask if Desire would accompany her on this mission, just for company's sake, since the mission would probably be uninteresting and having a fun person around would take the boredom out of things. She stopped, however, because she saw something on the back of Desire's hand... something very familiar.

"You have got to be kidding me! Is that the Fairy Tail insignia? You're part of the guild!"

The last sentence was said in a higher pitch than Cleia's actual voice, and was accompanied by a sudden attack hug from Cleia. She let Desire go just as suddenly as she had embraced her, but it was obvious the girl was very excited. She grabbed Desire's hand and looked the insignia over.

"This is so neat! I was just going to ask you... wait a minute! Why am I asking you anything at all? You're bored, right? So, we're going on a mission together. Come on!"

So saying, she drew Desire by hand away from the gates of the guild and headed off towards the client's residence. As they walked, Cleia drew the mission parchment and handed it over for Desire to have a look.

"Sorry, it's not that super: we're supposed to find someone's pet or something. Maybe a cat, from the looks of it, but I'm sure we'll soon get something more suited to our abilities to do... after a while of the boring stuff."

As she was walking rapidly, she overtook a nerdy girl who looked very familiar. She would just have thought to herself that the girl looked like someone she'd met before, but then she saw the girl's cat. And the only cat she'd seen that was black, with a witch's hat was none other than Hex. Now that she looked at her, it was obvious she could tell why the girl looked familiar. If Hex was here, then the girl was...

"Syeena! Hex! Fancy seeing you guys here, but it's a refreshing pleasure, nonetheless. What brings you guys to my side of the world?"

Note that she excluded the use of her polite titles, as it seemed to go down poorly with her age mates.

"Okay, okay, enough with the gushing emotions," Desire said, trying to sound as gruff as possible, although deep down she was pleased to belong to a family of sorts, as she didn't try to break free of the sudden hug. "It's just a guild symbol, isn't it?" It was much more, but Desire was always one to attempt to act cool when she could, even if the cool demeanor didn't suit her bubbly personality.

Desire grinned as Cleia observed her guild symbol, then said a number of things she didn't understand, and the next thing, Desire found herself being led away from the guild hall, without having anything to say about the matter. "Whoa, we're on two different pages of the book, Shortstuff," she protested, although she allowed Cleia to keep leading her. Another person, and she would have probably pulled free from that one.

"What's with all this talk about a mission? And what makes you even think I'm bored?" Oh, she was as bored as the proverbial observer of the most august occasion of the phenomenon of drying paint, but why admit that?

The pink-haired mage took the paper from her friend and perused it, her face almost instantly showing disgust, as her brain interpreted its contents. "Like, hell no!" she announced petulantly. "Sure, I have reservations about chasing someone's cat or duck or whatever, but I could manage it if the pay is fine. My issue is, what sort of person already begins calling people they've never met 'ruffians', and speaks with such an imperious tone like that? It's not like we're taking a job from His Royal Majesty the King.... Oh no, this is one of those bottom-of-the-bilge jobs I've heard so much about. Please, let me die," Desire moaned in mock sorrow and covered her face with her hands.

Just then, they caught up to a nerdy-looking girl with a black cat wearing a witch's hat. Desire squinted slightly at the cat; she couldn't remember, hadn't she seen such a cat with a witch's hat before? Was it in Era? Well, that mattered little at the moment. It seemed Cleia knew the girl and her cat; Desire surmised that the cat was probably the one called Hex, but it was just a guess at a venture. Besides, why would one greet the cat before its owner? But this was a strange world. The paper in Desire's had told her that much.

"Hi," she said pleasantly to the girl in glasses and her cat. Since Cleia seemed friendly with them, it would be socially proper to be nice.

Things were going smoothy and Syeena and Hex were about to find the house where the client was but then...

"Syeena! Hex! Fancy seeing you guys here, but it's a refreshing pleasure, nonetheless. What brings you guys to my side of the world?"

"Crap---!" Syeena squeaked and Hex went rigid in her arms. They didn't turn around right away but the voice sounded familiar. Both of them were concerned as no one should of been able to recognize her in this getup, and Hex was in trouble too! Slowly turning around, they saw her. The girl from Poisenttia during the Halloween festival. She was the Fairy Tail wizard who helped rescue Hex from that wicked witch, along with Blitz. Unlike the metal-headed smartass light mage, this one seemed somewhat open minded to the fact she was a member of Grimore Heart.

Still, her desire was to keep her cover as the common girl hense why she was dressed like this! Plus she was with another stranger, and another fairy tail wizard as well.

"Gah... um, hi? Who might you be?" Syeena said, feinting ignorance as if they had never met. She was able to freely be nervous in this persona as behind her glasses, she appeared more ditzy and nerdy. "I'm Carly-- Right, Carly!" she fibbed with a nervous chuckle.

Hex looked too them as well. She tried to act much like a regular cat as possible. "I'm-- er," Hex stopped, correcting herself, "I-mean-- Meeeooow!" Hex acted as much as a regular cat as she could, using a paw to swipe at her own whiskers.

They were clearly trying to cover up their identities, but if Cleia was probably not likely to fall for such a fib.

Cleia stared at Syeena and Hex for a moment, her eyes wide, then she suddenly burst into a silvery trill of laughter.Sure, she might not have recognized Syeena, but unless Hex had a doppelganger breathing and walking all over Fiore with another girl, then this just had to be Hex. The Exceed was very unique in her own way, so it would be very easy identifying her. Cleia managed to control herself, but it was obvious she was still very tickled.

"Well, hello, Carly... Carly and Meeooow, right? Haha! Do you guys think I'd fall for that? Actually, to give you credit, Syeena, your disguise is almost perfect, but Hex gave you away. Who else is cute, black and sporting a witch's hat? Don't even mention Labrador puppies; they don't wear hats, so there! Don't worry, if you're concerned that I might blow your cover, being a Light mage and all, please don't worry about it. If I was such a person, we wouldn't have left Poinsettia on friendly terms. And as for my friend here," Cleia gestured to Desire, "well, I don't know... she has many skeletons in her closet, so I think she'd feel guilty trying to turn you in or something."

The grin faded, but didn't entirely disappear, not did it dampen Cleia's warm expression. "So, are you here for business or something? I know my way around Magnolia; I could help out."

Glancing to Desire, Cleia said, "And as to what you were saying back then, Didi, this calls for diplomacy. I hope you know that many of our clients are of this sort, so, whether the pay is awesome or not, we can just ignore them, do our job, and leave, and everyone will be happy."

Desire noted that the bespectacled girl didn't immediately turn when Cleia hailed her. And when she turned, it wasn't quick. Slowly, like she feared to be recognized in this place. The best part was, she appeared not to know Cleia. But Desire could sense that she was afraid; besides, her extrasensory ability seemed to buzz with the indication that the nerdy-looking girl was, at the moment, indulging in some untruth. Why, or what the truth was, the Take Over mage couldn't say.

The cat only made matters much worse. It was obvious the little furry creature spoke, but then made a poor attempt at passing off as one of its (or was it her) less-amazing counterparts. Desire shook her head, a mild, patronizing smile on her face, as her shorter, black-haired friend burst into laughter, obviously not taken by the attempted lies.

It seemed the nerdy girl, for all appearances, was shadier than she appeared, surmising from Cleia's words. She merely shrugged when Cleia tried to put the other girl and her cat at ease concerning her, and said with a devious smile, "there's a reason the word 'fink' is in the dictionary..." although she was nothing of the sort, and more importantly, hated such types of people.

As Cleia was busy asking the girl in glasses why she was in Magnolia, Desire stepped up to observe the black cat in the girl's arms for a few seconds, then said, "so, Meeeooow the cat, huh? What an amazingly drab generic name. Still, it's just a cat, so it shouldn't care, I suppose." She was merely trying to bait the cat into talking, nothing more.

Whichever the case, Desire's attempts to heckle the black cat were temporarily sidetracked when Cleia talked about the mission being one of diplomacy. "Diplomacy is not my style, and I so as hell am not going to smile and say "please and thank you" to someone who doesn't show me manners. What this paper says here," and she waved the mission statement paper which Cleia had given her "is: listen to the ravings of the owner of that poor animal, and then perform the greatest act of cruelty, which is deprive the creature of freedom. It says nothing of licking boots or kissing ass. Kicking ass is more likely to happen if our client doesn't keep in place.

And don't worry about me jeopardizing the mission,"
Desire finished, her voice taking on a very ominous tone, "I know just what to do to ensure that she WILL want to pay us when we're done." And then came a high-pitched, but typical villainess-style laughter, complete with the head thrown back and hands akimbo.

It seemed Syeena's act was not convincing Cleia and Desire-as she was named- was just as twisted as many dark mages from the way she had a cryptic tone with her. Despite it all, she had more trust for Cleia than other light mages, not focused so much on the dogmas of light and darkness being good and evil alone. With a sigh, Syeena gave in. "Alright... you got me. You can't blame me for wanting to keep cover. You think I want a witch hunt in Magnolia of all places?" Syeena argued, holding Hex.

"Shhhh!" Hex shushed Syeena, looking up at her. "What are you doing? We nearly fooled them!" Hex clearly wanted to try and fool them but the cat was out of the bag now.

Hearing Desire of course made Hex a bit on edge as she leaned up to Syeena. "Great... another crazy girl," Hex replied, referring to both Emily and that strange girl with the bunny they bumped into.

"Hex!" Syeena warned.

Either way Cleia asked about where they were going. "We are talking a job for a local lady who is looking for a lost pet. That's all," Syeena explained, the mission being rather simple. Hardly 'evil', unless this woman losing her pet was the same witch who tried to take Hex away from her.

"So anyway, what are you doing ? YOu aren't for the same mission, are you?" She asked, adjusting her glasses to see better. She really didn't need them but did so out of habit especially since when she was a young girl she did need them.

"No, I can't blame you, at all. So, like I said, don't worry; your cover's safe with me," Cleia replied to Syeena, understanding full well why the Grimoire Heart mage would want to go undercover in a place like this. She gave Hex a toothed grin and pointed at her own eyes with two of her fingers, then at Hex with the same fingers, indicative of the "I see you" expression (of course, it could also mean "I've got my eyes on you", but that was not what Cleia meant).

Cleia wondered if Hex and Desire would get along, on seeing their interaction. Both had sharp tongues, and while Shoop, the talking hat, was similar in verbal ripostes, the blue haired mage who wore him usually tried to keep him in check. Hex made mention of the word "another", when she referred to Desire as crazy, making Cleia wonder how many crazy girls Hex and Syeena had bumped into.

Perhaps bringing Desire along on a mission like this was an oversight. The last thing any mage would want to do was botch a mission; reputation was very important as part of their job. Cleia was unsure as to what exactly Desire meant when she said she knew what to do to ensure payment from the client, but she had a gut feeling that it would be more harm than good. So, she shook her head and said, "You just let me do the talking, Didi, and it will be all over easy-peasy. And, your... uh, whatever it is you'd want to do to the client might not be very necessary..." "though I wouldn't even want to hazard a guess."

A surprise it was for Cleia when she heard Syeena's job description sounding so similar. "It sounds like it's the same mission: 'Sweetpea', the client calling us 'ruffians', blah blah blah. Hmmm, the woman must really be desperate to find it. Well, since it's not a competition, we can all work together and find this Sweetpea. What do you guys think?"
