Spending a few moments regretting existence, he vaguely remembered hearing Alexis ask about his condition and figured he should answer, raising a thumb while he was still slouched over and letting out a croaked, "Just peachy." As much as Therius didn't....disagree, the knight's assessment of the situation, it didn't change that he was getting paid for this and that some potions were helpful. That he still felt awful as he just sat there and listened. Ivellios waited until the rant was finished, stood up silently, and made his way over to a shelf and picked up a potion bottle filled with a glowing blue liquid. "This is a healing potion of my design. Cheap, it also has a peculiar property of being particularly good at stabilising the dying despite not fully repairing trauma. The survival rate of injured knights taken from the battlefield has increased by 300 percent since I gave away the patent and sell them for no profit." He put the potion down, and picked up a flask filled with a rainbow coloured oil. "This oil when applied to weapons allows mundane weapons to harm incorporeal spirits like ghosts." He once again put it down, only to pick up another, a vial of aqua liquid that had bubbles inside it, "This potion lets people breath underwater, and has saved many a mage diving into trapped ruins, or many knights assigned to ships." Setting it back down safely he sighed, looking at Alexis, "The merit is that my discoveries save people. Science doesn't get as much out of it as the Knights of Fiore do. The issue is however is that alchemy is as much an art as it is a science, and the result of mixing ingredients is unpredictable. Now should I pull random people off the street, or pay people that will survive any possible side effects as well as see the benefits of what I create?" He went over to his laboratory table, gathered two more potions, and tossed one towards Therius who caught it, somewhat recovered now from his fire breathing incident. "Now, you can either keep helping me, or fail your assignment, I don't really mind either way." Setting down the other potion near her, before sitting down, ready again to take notes. |

Alexis was many things, a boxer, a knight, a fighter, a woman, but she was not all too bright. But even if she had not even the slightest flash of intelligence within her, she would’ve been touched by the strong message that silly old quack threw at her. He was fluid, confident, as if he had given this same speech a thousand times before. The first potion he showed her shined with the light of the lives it had saved, the same shade of blue glittering from the young woman’s eyes. She blinked at it and when she heard the facts behind it, couldn’t help but imagine her sister or even herself needing its use at some point in their lives and the fact this man with, in the end, very little had sold the patent and made no profit was somewhat motivating. She watched as the man, moving through the thin cloud of red, presented and gave the lowdown of many potions he had created. A ghost-hitting thing and one that might give her gills. Okay, so she may have understated their benefits, but ya know what that wasn’t important. Alexis couldn’t help but feel a bit of guilt that weighed on her heart, but that was very quickly swallowed by a wave of determination and hype. The mere thought of her being able to benefit the knights with this simple job was more than worth getting her boobs exploded. Kinda. She started to grin and imagine her older sister praising her on her ‘glorious work’ and the king himself greeting her with open arms and tears for all the lives she had saved in his great kingdom. “At least we’re getting paid for this.” she stated nonchalantly with a shrug, trying not to show how hyped she was by the calm-as-calm doctor’s speech. Alexis snatched the potion from the table and smiled over to Therius. “Ready for round three then?” She was now confident. This man was no quack, well, not a dangerous one. He knew what he was doing and knew what he was doing was for the good of the country. So, with a courageous exhale of warm breath, she tipped her head back and gulped down the new potion, mentally prepared for whatever it would be. This one, oddly, tasted pleasant. It seemed the professor had anticipated their doubt and offered them a tame potion or in better terms, a less fucked up potion. As the fluid met with the others in her stomach, Alexis clenched her fists, closed her eyes and locked up. She was ready. This was gonna be easy. This was gonna be fun! After a few moments, nothing happened. Bit weird. The knight opened her eyes and blinked at the anti-climax before looking over to the doctor. ”Umm… Is something supposed to happen?” She asked with a lightly concerned face. The time Alexis went waiting was beyond all reasonable measure. She looked to Therius and waited with a mix of patience and fear as she remembered a proverb her father liked to crease out every once in a while. “Sometimes, the longest fuse belongs to the largest explosion.” Edited by Sir Slithers, Dec 15 2015, 02:38 PM.

Therius let loose with one last round of hacking cough before looking up at Alexis with a faint smile, actually managing to sit up now. "Always think about the pay." Finishing to himself with "It's how you get through shit like this." As much as the Blond had accepted his lot and was going to see this mission through, Ivellios's speech hadn't done anything to actually calm him nerves, remembering that once a professor got tenure, they could never lose it. He has a sinking feeling their dear alchemist had done these achievements as a young man, and now was just an old quack. Hopefully, the exquip mage thought to himself, he was wrong, and that this professor was still quite skilled and knew what he was doing. Unstoppering the potion he carried, he lifted it towards the Knight and said "To round three," swallowing down the sweet, purple liquid, almost like grape juice even. "That was..." he was going to finish with 'oddly pleasant', but his eyes went unfocused and he lost his train of thought. He had a moment of panic as he realised what was happening to him, but even that left him before he could act and he became docile, just sitting there blankly. "Something will happen shortly, I'm sure, just wait," Ivellios waving off Alexis dismissively and looking towards Therius saying clearly, "Stand." Which the Blond did without complaint, if looking a little out of it as he did it. "Arms out," the professor continued, Therius having no choice but to do literally everything he was told as he lifted his arms, Ivellios taking notes, "While we're waiting for your 'round three', how about you tell your companion here to do something, I want to see if anyone can command him, or just the one that made the potion." There was the faintest glimmer of light in the Blond's eyes, his body stiffen for just a moment, but then it was gone again, Therius completely under the influence of the suggestion potion given to him. |

Alex, after voicing her concern to the professor, was dismissed almost immediately. To be honest, she was expecting something like that, so she just glanced back to Therius. Then Ivellious gave Therius the order to stand, which he did with surprising haste. The knight could see that Therius wasn't entirely there, his expression one of mild vacancy, like he was drifting off. "Arms out." he was told and bring his arms out he did. This must be the effect of the potion, Alex mused, watching Therius' body stand with arms wide open. It was an odd thing to witness, and odder still as she was ordered to give him some instructions to complete to determine if he was under suggestion from the potion maker or anyone. Alexis couldn't help but shift and fidget a little under the pressure, her mind going blank of things to tell Therius to do. The knightess, dressed in a towel and waiting anxiously for her potion to take effect, blurted out the first thing to finally pop into her mind. "Dance!" Alexis rather quickly regretted her choice, either out of sympathy for the now dancing youth, or out of the nervous giggle and shrug she had to give the doctor when Therius wouldn't reply. Alex was uncomfortable giving orders, it felt odd, like she had too much power that wasn't just her muscle. The squirming feeling in her gut was one of a follower, not a leader, though she didn't know that as of yet. She glanced back at Therius, who was more or less dancing, her sympathy melting away into a snicker. The potion did indeed work for anyone and Alex thought she might as well put him out of his misery. "Alright, you can stop dancin' now." she smirked. "Do some exercises~ Jogging jacks, come on, boy!" Alex got the most out of this new-found opportunity, thinking Therius needed a bit of beefing up for that giant sword he was wielding before. Obviously, the simple exercise wouldn't be taxing to any knight worth their salt until the twenty minute mark, so she was sure she wasn't doing anything too bad to him. Alex was still mildly uncomfortable with giving orders, but at least this was something she figured she could handle. She then started to wonder about her own potion and suddenly got conscious, looking over to the professor. "I hope the potion you gave me doesn't let you do this to me." Alex stated bluntly. It's not that she was on bad terms with them, but her innate distrust of men let her grow sceptical of their noble intentions. "But anyway, it seems I can order Therius around? Is that what you wanted?" she continued to watch the boy exercise as she was answered and the next step of the experiment began. Edited by Sir Slithers, Feb 18 2016, 10:06 PM.
