"Yeah, well... I'm not so sure about that. It's a fun novelty, but are we even sure it worked?" Julian shifted in his chair, suddenly a bit uncomfortable, but not really being able to place the feeling. The inventor pressed a button on the main console, releasing the restraints on the duo, smiling all the while. He had noticed it immediately, an unintended side-effect of switching their personalities... Julian had been given some subconscious elocution lessons. It was yet to be seen if these effects would work in reverse for Willow, degrading her speech to that of an unruly cockney. "Well, feel free to spend your time for the next few hours as you please. I require you back at sundown, to reverse the procedure." He gave each of them a large packet, filled with questions and large blanks, apparently for them to fill in. Such questions on the docket were: "Do you notice an overt changes to your thought processes?" and "Does your new personality affect your skillset(s)?". Other questions on the docket seemed to be a bit more technical, and others seemed completely superflous to the experiment as a whole, but the Inventor had decided on these questions for a reason. Each of the subjects were also provided with a pen, in case they did not have one available. "I only ask that you take some time to fill in these questionaires, so that I can gauge your reactions to the procedure." "Do you have any unexpected cravings?" Julian read from the second page. "Don't feel pressured to answer them now, Julian. You'll need some time to acclimate before you can accurately answer the questions. Just give it some time." With that, the Inventor moved to a narrow door to the left, removing the board barring it closed. When the door swung open, a column of light illuminated the dust which hadn't yet settled to the floor. Julian was already moving towards the door, and on any other day, he would be reaching for his pack of Acalyphan Fortunes, but for some reason, it didn't even cross his mind. The inventor beckoned them into the light, smiling all the while. "Wait... I just realized that you never told us your name." "Nathaniel Heven's the name." he beamed, "And this one... this is gonna put that name on the map~!" |

Willow took the packet and let the men talk for a bit as she read over the different questions. Like, for example, if her favorite color had changed from what it was before. Well that was a rather silly question. Who really thinks about a question like that? Apparently this guy. He was an odd one, wasn't he? Eh, they both were kinda weird for agreeing to this mission. I mean, after all, who really wants to get their personalities switched?....besides them? The only reason she could come up with was this was an easy mission and it gave money. Loads of money for something as simple as talking with one another and filling out these questions. The man, who had introduced himself as Nathaniel Heven, opened up a door that seemed to be leading out to the outside. Well here we go! Time to walk in a day, or half a day, in someone else's personality! So great! "Actually, now that you mention it, I could really go for a smoke. I don't know why but I have this weird need for it and I don't smoke." That was really, really weird. Maybe some kind of side affect? Eh, nothing to worry about! Sooner or later it was going to go away. Yeah totally. Eventually the two stepped outside. Willow raised her hand to keep the sun from shining on her face as a smile crept up on her. As if it was the most natural thing in the world. "So...ya think we're gonna be alright after all 'dis is over? I mean, we have what? 'Bout four pages or so of questions and only the rest of da day left. How are we gonna get all of it done? There is SO much to try and figure out." After that long statement, the brunette girl started to look over some of the questions and settled on one of them to ask Julian. "On a scale of 0 ta 10, how would you rate your attitude about this day over all? Well that is a simple answer. 10." Quickly Willow wrote in her answer, in very large and fairly energetic print, with a heart as the 0. With that done, she turned her attention back to Julian. "What about you? Do you find this day so far great? I mean it has to be much better than our time in Winter Wonderland. That was a bitch 'n a half to deal with. Didn't think we're gonna make it out of that one!" |

Julian wasn't really paying much attention to Willow now, already growing a little tired of her chattering. Still, at the mention of a cigarette, it dawned on Julian that he didn't really want one... Maybe this was another of the side-effects that Heven mentioned. Still, Julian was quick to oblige her, handing her his pack of cigarettes and a silver lighter. "Well... I guess we can check that one off the list. New craving." "I figure we just need to keep an eye out, if something comes up, we jot it down... Like your accent. Mine too, now that I think about it." Julian flipped to a question that he noticed earlier, one in a section which had not blanks, but small boxes for yes and no. This question in particular was about changes to speech patterns, which Julian dutifully checked off. It was strange; he hadn't really comprehended the shift in his speech until he actively thought about it. Maybe there were other things that had changed which he didn't even notice yet? Still, it would probably be best if they split up for now. If Julian knew his own personality well enough, he figured that Willow would want some time to explore these possibilities on her own. He was kind of a jealous guy, in retrospect... Yeah, Willow would probably not want to share the chance for discovery with anyone else. Heck, she might even be upset that Julian had noticed her accent before she had. "You should do what you want. I'm going this way." Julian trod off on his own, leaving Willow behind. He was fairly certain she'd get on by herself, it's surely what he would have done... As far as Julian was concerned though, now was the time for food. He hadn't eaten anything since early in the morning, and now his stomach was grumbling. He didn't let it bother him, but nevertheless, he was off to the nearest food stand to see if he could get something tasty. |

It was so natural to go and take the items off of Julian. However, what wasn't natural was what came next. As Willow lit up a cigarette and inhaled, her entire body revolted against that. She started to cough and choke on the smoke and quickly returned everything back to him. God why was that so disgusting and why did people, like him and Mago, feel like they needed to add that to their bodies? Just so gross. That wasn't something that she was going to ever want to do again, and yet she could feel herself wanting to take another drag. As she shoved her hands in her pockets, or as best as she could while holding the pen and packet, it seemed as if Julian had pointed out that she had a new way of speaking. What? That totally wasn't something- Oh look actually it was. In one moment she was actually fairly excited but in the next, she was frowning as he was the one who had been to actually figure things out. Damn him. With a huff, Willow glanced away and wondered what else she might find. "Yeah, sounds good ta me." And with that, the brunette Ex-Quip mage went her own way and started to look at what was on the list of things to fill out and check out. Pulling the pages back, Willow looked on the pages until she found a few she wanted to figure out. "So...what should I do first? Do I have any OCDs I never had before? Maybe something like...hmm..." Why was there so many things to do and just like no time to do it? Ugh. She looked at another one and thought about it. "Are my irrational fears still the same?" Hmm....actually come to think of it, there really wasn't anything Willow could think of as an irrational fear. Unless you counted the fear of someone moving their hand close to her throat area and thinking that someone was going to choke her as an irrational fear. I mean, could you really call that one? But none the less, that just meant she would have to test it out...maybe when Julian came back. Yeah. She could ask him. Never mind, different question then. "OH I know! I can see if I still like the same foods and or drinks. I think I skipped eating again so..." Yeah. That sounded like a good one to do. Next stop, to find a place to sample some food. |

While he wasn't in his normal setting, Julian knew how to find some familiar food. It wasn't long before he had a plate before him, steeped with a spicy mix of noodles, chicken and vegetables. It didn't really match with the image that Julian had often put forward of himself, but the young thief often found that he couldn't have enough of it. Still... something about the smell of it didn't really whet Julian's appetite. With the first fork-full, his face contorted in disgust. He was quick to spit out the food into his napkin, pushing the plate away with one hand. His stomach growled as he wondered might be a more appetizing meal. While his normal fare proved to be unappetizing, for some reason Julian found himself craving Italian. Maybe a big plate of lasagna, heaped with parmesean cheese? Or how about some mostacolli, seasoned with butter and oregano? Oooh, Or better yet, a big plate of spagetti, topped with meatballs and slathered in tomato sauce. Julian hadn't realized it, but he had started to drool a bit at the thought. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, standing up, ready to head out of the restaurant. Still, he felt a bit guilty about leaving without paying his bill... that was different. He normally wouldn't have thought twice about the old dine-and-dash. I mean, sure, he would pay for his food in Trillium often enough, he lived there after all... but here? He didn't expect he'd be around Belladonna any time soon after this... Normally, that would be cart blanche to do whatever he pleased without worrying about the consequences. He shrugged it off. Obviously, this was a part of Willow's personality. She wasn't a petty thief like Julian. He could tell just from that burning desire somewhere in the pit of his stomach. It reminded him of Moreau... It reminded him of the feelings that had stirred within him when he was revealed for the type of man he really was. It wasn't a good feeling, far from it... But he understood it... and maybe he understood Willow a bit better too, because of it. Julian paid for his food, tipped his waiter, and elected to get his food wrapped up for the road. Maybe Willow didn't like this kinda food, but Julian knew that he did. When they got their personalities switched back, Julian figured he would want to have the food to snack on. He normally didn't think that far ahead, admitedly, but that was just who he was, for the time. And honestly, he kind of liked it... He felt like he thought a bit more clearly when he wasn't always in awe of every new thing he came across. |

OOC: Sorry this is so late. Been busy Willow had walked back into town, you know, where normal people lived; unlike the guy giving them the mission. Regardless, the girl had walked in and started looking for something to eat. Normally she would have gone for something on the more sweet side, but she had gotten a good whiff of something coming from a sit down place and decided that that was going to be the place that she was going to eat at. Stepping in, she found herself at a bar counter type thing. As she sniffed the air a bit, a man came up to her section of the bar and gave her a look. She smiled at the man an sat down. "Whatever is making that wonderful smell, I'd like a bowl of it." He pulled up a bowl for her and set it down. "It's a spicy ramen." Willow looked at it. Spicy? That really wasn't something she liked. Well, the older her. I mean the normal her. The current her now? Well Julian must really like this kind of stuff or at the very least not hate it as much. If this was placed down in front of her with her normal self, she would have turned it away. Something about spicy just didn't get along with her so she avoided it like the plague. Whatever. Taking a big mouthful, she stuffed the food in her mouth only to freeze there and try not to spit it out with disgust. Swallowing what she had stuck in her mouth, she took a deep breath and looked inside of the bowel as she asked the man what was in it. "Ah, it's a spicy yellow tail ramen." Yellow tail? Did Julian not like fish or something? That was a pain. And here she thought she was going to have something that she wasn't going to ever have again. So her options were to eat in anyway, that would be something her old self would do, or to just skip out on this and leave to find a new place to eat. And for some strange reason, the second option was sounding better and better. So when the man's back was turned, the Ex-Quip mage got up and left without paying. She didn't even bat an eye. I mean, why pay for something you didn't enjoy? Normally Willow would have done it anyway. Then again, she norally wouldn't have picked something spicy. But whatever. So the hunt for food began again. And as she did so, she started checking off a few noticeable things on those papers she was given. So many things that have already been figured out, and yet so many more things to figure out. It was like she was let loose in a candy shop. Or something like that. Maybe a bit of shopping would be better for her? Yeah, that sounded like a good idea. Until she figured out a better way to feed herself, shopping around sounded like the best course of action. Stuffing the papers away, the brunette walked away from the food area to areas closer to a bunch of shopping. You never know, you could also find something else to eat around them. |

Julian ate his food rather delicately, or at least, more delicate than he normally would. No, normally, he would have shoveled forkful after forkful into his mouth until he felt like he couldn't eat anymore. Right now, though, he took his time, enjoyed it. It cost a bit more than his normal fare, but it was worth it. The young thief flagged down his waiter as he passed by, telling him to send his compliments to the chef. With that, Julian patted his now-full belly before reaching into his pocket and pulling out his wallet. A nice tip was placed under his plate, and more was set aside for paying the bill. Still, it was starting to get a bit late, and Julian felt like he hadn't really done much for Heven's research. He pushed his things to one side, placing the packet in front of him. There were a few things near the top that he picked off, little things he had noticed over the time he had been eating. The rest, for the most part, was stuff that Julian hadn't really considered yet, save for a few questions on the second sheet. Still, not bad. It was definitely further along than he thought he was. "Well... I wonder what I should do next..." he mused, "I guess I should try to start with what I would normally do, right?" Someone at a table nearby was looking at him, probably wondering who he was talking to. Julian's scowled as they met eyes, causing the man to quickly avert his gaze. Well, that wasn't the normal response Julian got... it took him a moment to realize that he wasn't wearing his usual careless grin. In fact, he suddenly realized he hadn't even so much as smirked since the machine... was he a grump, now? "Whatever..." he grumbled, "I've got things to do anyways..." He figured that normally, he would just wander around town. It wasn't a matter of sight-seeing as much as it was a matter of stealth... and thievery. After all that tipping and paying for food, Julian's pockets were starting to feel a bit light... Times like that, he would normally try to spread the love, so to speak. Besides, it would answer one of the other questions in the list, wouldn't it? "Does your new personality affect your skillset?" Julian sighed. He hoped not... This wasn't exactly something he could get away with screwing up, normally, was it? If someone caught him with a hand in their pocket, it wouldn't be long before he had a pair of cuffs slapped across his wrists. Still... in the name of-whatever, I guess... |
