Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Julian had been standing at the mission board for a while now, staring at different pages and reading them aloud, more to himself than anyone else. It had been a bit of a slow week for him, and besides that, renovating the interior of the shop had been a nightmare which took up the majority of his money from his last job. To make matters worse, he hadn't even began work on the exterior yet, and that was in an even worse state than the inside had been, the peeling paint and broken, boarded windows making the property an eyesore to anyone who passed.

"So, come down ta the research facility in Belladonna and test my machine out, find out how yer friends feel most o' the time..."

Julian had been looking for a good mission to cut his teeth on. And with the craziness that was his time in the Lavender Forest, he could do with something a bit less likely to get him stabbed. As far as he could tell, this mission would be the perfect candidate. It was just a matter of finding a partner to join him... someone who wouldn't be adverse to taking on a small-fry mission with him.

As far as he was concerned, his main choices were the other members of Royal Flush. The likes of Jackal wouldn't be likely to bother with something like this, nor Dante. To be honest, Julian wasn't even sure if he would want their feelings in his head anyways, especially Dante. He wasn't sure what was going on with that guy most days, but, frankly, his attitude was start to grind on the young thief's nerves.

Julian took down the bulletin, already fairly psyched for the idea of the, frankly, ludicrous experiment. All that there was left to do was look around for someone who'd be willing to join him on the mission. It wouldn't be a glamorous mission, sure, but it payed, and for many members of RT, coin was a far greater call than glory. Julian approached someone he vaguely recalled meeting before, flagging them down by waving the bulletin in the air above his head.

"Oi, you need ta' get some dosh, there, yeah?"

Willow had only just started in the guild. One mission down in Fairy Tail, a few huge things happening here and there, and them bam, here she was in the rivaling guild. It was rather interesting. Actually come to think of it, the members of Raven Tail that she had seen before, and met before, had all just kind of shrugged at her presence. Maybe because she had more or less just didn't care about the guilds hating one another. Whatever. That was in the past and she was needing some cash.

As she headed on over to the board, she had noticed someone waving something at her. What was he trying to do? Get her attention? Actually more than likely he was. Alright that was cool. Maybe he had good thing going on here. So Willow walked on over and took the piece of paper from him when he offered it to her. And what it had said was rather interesting. All the guy wanted to do was to have them switch personalities? Was that something that you could really do?

Maybe. Who knows.

Her red eyes glanced up at him as she finally spoke. "You think this actually works?" If it did or if it didn't wasn't up to her. It sounded like a rather simple mission. And if it was a simple mission that meant that it was a easy way to make jewels. Alright she was in. No point in wasting any time. The sooner they got this over with the better. So she handed him the paper again and started to walk to the exit. "Right. So then to Belladonna?" That was just a hop, skip, and a jump away, right? Whatever.

As the new Raven Tail member started walking off, with hopefully her new partner, Willow realized she had just said yes to doing a mission without actually realizing who this guy was. Taking a look at him, he seemed kind of familiar. Then again, everyone here was. "Sorry, don't mean to be rude but I don't recall your name. I'm Willow Heart, if you didn't know." Yes. Willow Heart, The Heart in Royal Flush. No one would ever suspect a thing. It was too fitting not to go for it. I mean really, if that's your last name you almost have to. But that was beside the point. She waited for him to speak and them to start heading on out of the guild and to the next city.

"Can't be sure, but it can't hurt ta try, yeah?"

They were just about to leave when the thought seemed to occur to both of them at the same time. They had not actually been introduced, nor had they introduced themselves. In fact, there was very little that either of them knew about each other except that they were down for having their personalities switched. The girl was the first to put her name forward.

Willow Heart... Willow Heart... That name rung familiar, but it was the face that really struck him. He had met Willow before, although she had been bundled up and busy with someone else for most of the time. In fact, Julian wasn't even sure if he had gotten her name in the mission they had been on together.

"Name's Julian." he reciprocated, "You were at Winter Wonderland, innit'cha?"

As they made their way to the door, Julian continued to talk, barely letting Willow get a word in edge-wise. This was the first time in a while that he had a chance to talk to someone he hadn't personally wronged, or at the least, didn't know his troubles. It was refreshing, new... Beautiful. In that moment, Julian was silent, reflecting on the last time he had been able to use that word un-ironically. If he didn't know any better, he would have thought he was becoming a cynic.

"I still cannae believe that we're both member's o' Royal Flush!" He laughed. "What're the odds, huh?"

"Still though: Heart? Seems kinda cliche, don't ya think?"

He had been going on like this for the entire trip, and if Willow was growing tired of it, Julian hadn't noticed. He was too busy filling every moment he could with noise, occasionally stopping his chatter to get some input from Willow. If he didn't get a response in enough time, he was quick to continue on as if nothing was the matter. Most of his chatter wasn't completely inane, and he had asked Willow to tell him a few things about herself, but for Julian, the focus was mainly on himself.

He hadn't been this energized in months, not since he first met up with Trevor. Everything had just sort of gone to shit after that, and Julian's world had grown a lot more grim. His propensity for seeing the silver lining, he had thought, was drained due to his near-endless stream of bad luck. Now, Julian was sure that it was as strong as ever. In fact, he felt that he was better than ever~! It was like a switch had flipped on in his head in order to bring all his eagerness and positivity to the forefront.

The Winter Wonderland mission. Oh yeah, she was helping out all the Raven Tail members at that place for a few months. That was...and experience. But whatever, that was done and now it was time for her to move on. Or at the very least attempt to. As the two walked out of the guild, Julian did nothing but keep talking and talking and talking. Oh wait there was a pause. No wait that was just a pause to get a breath so he could keep talking. Wow, could he talk any more?

Stupid question was answered on the way to Belladonna.

A slight headache had been creeping up on Willow as the two made their way to the location that they had been told to come to. Julian had talked about so many things, giving her only a chance to say a few things here and there. More like a Yes or a No or a Maybe. But as they started getting on the subject of their group, Royal Flush, he had to comment on her code name: Heart. Well it was a bit of a cliche, but still better than Cups. Though, she didn't need to say that in front of the guy. That would be bad form.

Whens she noticed a break in his speaking, she took the time to say something. Lord only knew how long it was before he started to go on another tangent. "Yes. Heart. After all, who better to be the Queen of Hearts than someone who is heartless herself? After all, didn't the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland go and behead people?" She paused a moment to think about that herself. "Well, I never actually beheaded someone, but I did cut someone's leg off then stab him through the gut." Oh yeah. That was something every Ex Fairy Tail mage did. Go and chop off a leg and then kill people. In fairness, she killed four people. Good times.

And with that, she remained silent as Julian started to go on another tangent about that. Maybe he would find her comment to be rather, cold? Or maybe he would be excited about killing? Maybe he was one of those people who just liked to talk about all the people that he killed with liked minded people. Willow wouldn't know. Or at least she wouldn't know yet. Soon they were arriving at the building that they needed to be at and soon she would know his personality if the mission was actually a real thing. Soon.

"Well, I never actually beheaded someone, but I did cut someone's leg off then stab him through the gut."

"Huh. Well, I gotta say that, uh... brings up some memories."

Julian was silent a moment, his expression and tone having changed to a grim acceptance. His right arm went to his left elbow, his fingers tracing the edge of the gauntlet that had replaced his hand. It wasn't long before Julian attempted to put a positive spin on the event, but it was clear that he didn't believe it.

"But I got the Shock Gauntlet, so that's nice."

An awkward silence hovered over the moment for a while, perhaps the first real rest Willow had been given from Julian since their departure. Instead, the duo's attention was demanded by the building before them, obviously the home of the inventor who had put the mission forward. Even though they were on the outskirts of the city, the building seemed to be dwarfed by those around it, looking like it was taken from the likes of Snap-Dragon Creek.

The front door was set in one side of a circular room, which in and of itself was a hodgepodge of wood and metal, plastered together in such a ramshackle way that it barely seemed capable of standing on its own. On top of the second floor, a propeller spun slowly with each gust of wind that blew through the chilly air.On the east side of the building, an "L"-shaped wing juts out, pipes and wires sticking out from the walls.

Julian was impressed that such a place could even exist in Belladonna, the low-tech nature of the building seeming at odds with the rest of the structures in the city. However, he was less impressed by the man standing outside. He was dressed finely, in a vest and slacks, a bowler hat perched on top of his long brown hair. Instead of a band, the hat featured a pair of brass goggles. If his large, round glasses were any indication, the green lenses in them were likely prescription. And with the level of detail given to his meticulously cut facial hair, Julian figured that the extra lens over his right eye was used for more than intricate circuitry.

"I assume you are here about the job posting." he nodded knowingly.

His arm had been missing? Well that made things a bit awkward. At the very least, it got him to shut up. Ah yes, some good amount of peace and quiet. Actually a lot more than she would have given him credit for. That was fine, the quieter that he was the quicker her slight headache was going to be going away. And then that would just make everything a bit easier to do when it came time to get to the mission.

And speaking of the mission, this man really picked the worse place to build that house. Out of all the places he could have gone and built that house, he picks this city? Well if it didn't scream inventor she wasn't sure what it would scream. Maybe mad person? Maybe Killer? No. Not killer. It didn't look killing enough. Maybe a mad inventor. Which was kind of perfect as this guy was trying to get them to switch personalities for half a day. The pure thought of it was pretty mad.

The man outside was....actually, Willow had to give him credit on that facial hair game. It wasn't exactly there yet, nit if he tried a bit harder, he could have that mustache curl and be as round as the glasses he was wearing. Now wouldn't that be something? Yeah. That would be great. Anyways, the two had made it up to the guy as he figured out they were here for the mission.

"I'm Willow Heart and this is Julian. We're ready when you are." She introduced their names and waited for him to take them inside. She expected it to be full of many different inventions. Maybe even a few skeletons. Didn't inventors have them? Or was that something else? Well doesn't matter, she was expecting a lot of different things coming from that house. Maybe one of those things could help her find something. Or someone. But that was for another time.

Almost immediately upon entering, Julian's nostrils were assailed by the stench of oil and scorched circuitboards. There was very little open floorspace, scarcely more than a three foot wide walking path winding its way through the mash of machinery and workbenches. Several of the machines seemed defunct, caked with dust and coated in cobwebs. However, as they moved deeper into the maze of machinery, more and more of the inventor's works seemed to have been recently used.

"Pardon the clutter, children. Just shimmy between these two coils."

"Firs' off, not a child. Second, what is all this shit, huh? Failed attempts?"

"Ah, but are they failures?" he laughed, "Or are they simply stepping-stones?"

As far as Julian was concerned, most of them looked like paper-weights. Still, he wasn't getting paid to question the bastard's organization or cleanliness, so the thief figured it was best to let that slide. He shot an aprehensive look to Willow, questioning whether or not this guy could really do what he claimed. After crawling around a few more pieces of machinery, the trio was met with a door which led to the rest of the house.

It was here that Julian felt his apprehension lift a bit. While the rest of the house had seemed to be, well, let's face it, god-awful, the east wing seemed to be in relatively good order. Sure, it still seemed apparent that his maid had gone on holiday, but here, Julian imagined that it would only take a few days to find a missing set of keys.

"The Emotional Tranferance Machine is the prototype of a new device I'm working on. You two represent my first human test subjects! I imagine you're both very excited."

After rounding the corner, the duo were treated to their first look of the machine. It seemed like a strange device, to be sure. It consisted of two seats which looked oddly comfortable, the headrest ringed with pipes, wires and servos. The machine between them was awash with blinking lights and whirring machinery which seemed at odds with the inventor's low-tech aesthetic.

"Of course, if you're not excited, just remind yourself; I am paying you."

So the two were ushered into the home and they started walking through the mess of the inventor. And what a mess it was. I mean really, did this man not know how to pick up things? Whatever. It really didn't matter to her what his house looked like. This was his home and they were getting paid to do whatever it was he was asking them to do. Which actually seemed like a rather dangerous task but that really didn't bother her too much. Not in the long run. A few jewels here and a few jewels there and things would get fixed, right? Right.

As the three of them continued on, the two men seemed to be having a small conversation. And by small conversation I mean one or two lines apiece. Nothing too serious. Julian not wanting to be called a child and slamming the failed attempts and the guy saying they weren't really fails and ignoring the first comment all together. Really good bunch right here. She was really looking forward to this mission. Internal eyeroll.

But then the man had spoke again, saying how they were very excited to be here. Why? Because they were getting paid. So he was hinting that they should be a little bit more excited about this. Alright, Willow could oblige by that, but she wasn't going to just go and change her personality around to please him. She would do it in her own way. "You misunderstand, sir. I am very excited to be here. It is not everyday you get to someone make something that could actually work."

After they had rounded the corner, they had finally gotten to see what the thing looked like. Alright, so that was rather....alright so maybe this wasn't as high tech as you would see in the movies but it could work, maybe? Whatever, there was really only one way to figure that out and that was to actually test it themselves. "Alright, so all we have to do is take a seat and you'll do what you have to, right?'

Willow walked on over to the machine and looked at the chairs. It didn't seem like it was going to hurt, but no one really could know unless they tried, right? Right. So the brunette took a seat in one of the really comfortable chairs and settled in, waiting for this thing to get started.

"Well, there's a bit more to it than that... but sure. Take a seat."

"So, what exactly are we doin' then? We have ta get in the seat, and all, I get that, but how does that do any-

Julian passed the inventor, moving to his seat as he spoke. With little care or restraint, he plopped into the chair with a thud. In an instant, a metal restraint stretched over their wrists, locking into place with a click and a snap. The inventor was quick to chime in on the event.

"Hrm... the springs a bit loose... Gonna have to fix that at some point.

"Oh, yeah," he responded sarcastically, "you can't have loos spr-Care to fuckin' explain, mate!?"

"Safety restraints. Moving during the procedure is... ill-advised. Willow's chair has them as well."

He started to fiddle with some knobs and switches on the machine between the chairs. After a few more small adjustments and flipping a final switch, he moved to the left of Willow's seat. With a nod an a smile, the inventor pressed a button on the side of the armrest, the same restraints as the ones Julian had around his wrists clamping over Willow's. Then, satisfied that they were properly set up, the inventor moved a few steps away, facing the two with a smile. He tossed his hat aside, placing the green-tinted goggles on his face, his glasses tucked into his breast pocket.

"Right, only a few more minor safety things left. Are you affected by rapidly flashing lights? Do you have any heart conditions? Any history of mental unwellness in your family? Are you allergic to shellfish? GOOD!"

Not giving either of them a chance to resconsider their decisions, or even answer his questions, the inventor moved to his machine flipping the large switch in the center. Immediately upon contact, the switch sparked brightly, sending the machine into a frenzy of activity. In unison, two probes locked into place on either side of the mages' heads. There was another crackle of electricity, sending a shower of sparks outwards from the machine as the inventor watched with a smile.

Willow sat in the chair that she had picked and did all she was meant to do without complaint. Her red eyes glanced from place to place as she wondered how much this was going to hurt. And if it did hurt, if she would even feel it. Sometimes it was good not to feel pain half the time. Though, on the other hand, maybe not so good. But that was something she would get into at a later date. Maybe. For now, it was time to go on with the mission.

The in e for asked a few questions, some comments were said, and before you knew it, the switch had been flipped and the sparks were flying. Oh how many sparks there were! How long they were at it, she didn't really know. All she knew was that when all the things were done and over with, Willow was in a slight daze. Man, her head was killing her. Was it going to be this terrible when they switched back? Did it work? Did their personalities get switched? Oh she wished she knew already!

Letting out a sigh, and glancing over to Julian, she spoke. "What a rush huh? I have to admit, my head is killing me!" She blinked a moment and then laughed. "Oh I guess what! I think it worked! This is so cool!" Her smile cracked from ear to ear. Wow! This was just so great! Like for real! Man she couldn't wait to get this started! Oh wow!

Then it hit her. Oh man, she had his personality but that meant he had hers and that wasn't something so great. Not saying that she wasn't normally great. Truth he told, she was totally great. Not trying to be, oh what was the word she was looking for? Oh it didn't matter she knew what she meant. "I am so sorry if I get on your nerves. Feel free to tell me and I promise I'll shut up. Promise. But can you believe this? I mean could you imagine that this guy's invention actually worked? I mean if you look at all the fai- stepping stones he has around here, would you expect it to work? Because honestly, I don't think I could have expected it." She then turned to the inventor dude and gave him a sheepish smile. "I mean...what you did is just amazing. I think this really could take you far."
