Blitz's assumption had been somewhat mistaken - while the witch's fate was somewhat unknown, though presumed to be dealt with, the pumpkin was still moving - which implied the witch was still alive as well, otherwise the magic should have ended. After all, magic persistent enough to last after the death of the caster shouldn't have worn off of his own mechanical arm that fast. The pumpkin lurched, pissed off now that its main body was injured, not just its vines, but Syeena, once again, made the first move. The card-dealer made a comment - somewhat reluctantly - towards Blitz, which he assumed was the closest thing to a 'thank you' he was likely to receive. "Well, it'd be a real jerk move to let you suffer through that injury when I have the ability to patch it up," Blitz said with a slight shrug. As soon as her arm was healed up by Blitz, the one to leap back into the fray first wasn't Syeena, but her Pet, Hex casting a barrage of what looked like flames over the gourd. At first, Blitz thought it had done nothing - after all, the thing was already roasting in flames, and the ones just now hadn't seemed as potent - but suddenly the pumpkin lurched to one side, as if unsteady from something besides wounded vines and flames. A debilitating effect, perhaps? Blitz thought. Then Syeena made her move, though she said Blitz might not want to see it. As soon as her transformation began, and her clothes began to lose substance, Blitz understood what she meant and looked away, waiting for the transformation to finish. Guess we can add 'public nudity' to her list of crimes, Blitz thought with irritation. She's lucky the rest of the town is too busy dealing with living props to be near the corn maze. As her rather absurd transformation finished, a giant bird was summoned, one that flew at the pumpkin and exploded once more - she has alot of explosion-based techniques, Blitz thought. With Cleia adding another attack her own own into the mix, Blitz didn't throw in one of his own, not directly. Blitz instead dismantled the shears back into their shrapnel components, reformed them into vines, and lashed them around the remaining vines on the pumpkin and around the lower half of the gourd, chaining the thing in place for their attacks. He could have attacked in addition to that, but given what had already happened to it, plus the attacks just now, he felt another explosion attack would be overkill. |

(OOC: Like anyone would really charge her for that, since half the populace would probably WANT to see it :P) As the attack ended, Syeena's magic cards reconstituted around her and the shadows made her outfit reappear. As she ended, she saw as all three attacks were used and blew the pumpkin to bits! The giant monster was reduced to smaller pumpkins, goo and of course chunks that looked almost delicious perfect for making pumpkin pie. It all went tumbling down the hill as the blast settled, leaving them all in one piece. They had won. However, as the dust settled, they would see movement. The shrouded figure of the witch stood up from the remains of the pumpkin, but her robe was in tatters and her hair a mess. She clutched to her staff as she propped herself on her feet. "Curses..." She grumbled, glaring at the three mages that stopped her. Syeena put a hand on her hip as Hex fluttered down, landing on her shoulders this time. "Had enough, or you thirsty for more?" Syeena replied glaring at the witch. THe woman slowly stood up fully and sighed. "I can admit when I have... miscalculated," she said in resignation. She raised her staff lightly but then swiped it before her. Out of nowhere-- a tear in space appeared. A glowing light radiated from where she had ripped open before her. It clear she was not going to fight more-- but she didn't want to be captured either. And so she used her staff to rip space. "What the--?!" Syeena gasped as she saw her turn for the rift. Before she stepped into it, she turned to Syeena. "Well played, Umbra Witch, but this is not over," she said with a wicked smile. "I'll get you my pretty... and your little cat, too!! HAHAHAHA!!" With that horrible cackle she stepped through the rift and it closed behind her, vanishing into the empty night. THe pumpkin patch was now clear as Syeena and Hex were around BLitz and Cleia. WIth a sigh of relief, Syeena finally relaxed. Grateful, Hex immediately bumped her head to Syeena and pretty much hugged her. "Mreow... I dont know about you but I'm looking forward to Christmas this year," she said. With a soft chuckle, Syeena hugged Hex, glad to have her cat back. |

Syeena's shadowy bird was perhaps just sufficient to destroy the Pump-king. Blitz seemed aware that anything else was pretty much unnecessary, so he just held down the Pump-king to allow the attacks of the ladies to hit home. And hit home they did. In one spectacular flash of midnight and glowing blue, the Pump-king was ultimately demolished. Somehow, Grisly, against Cleia's belief, had not been blasted through one of the orifices on the Pump-king's head and into the outside. From the way the witch stood from what was left of the obliterated oversize pumpkin, it was obvious she had been still in there. That would mean that, like she had insinuated, and unlike what her appearance led others to believe, she was not just some mean-natured old biddy. Old people did not receive such a thrashing and still manage to stand up. At least, it looked like the fight was blown out of her. Grisly herself knew that if she tried anything else, she would be going down fast, although she was too proud, or too confident, to admit defeat. Just when Cleia was about to remind her politely that there was no where else to run, Grisly popped open a portal with her staff, and escaped through it. It was so unexpected, so the little band of mages probably had no time to react... and annoying a bit cliché, what with the way the hag gave her ominous threat, laughed and was gone. Cleia looked around at the little disaster they had worked up in the pumpkin patch. Well, they had all but razed down the place, and there were also other places in town that had received some collateral damage, thanks to the Grisly's acts. Even though the Fairy Tail mages were not directly responsible, as they had the proclivity to damage stuff while saving the day, this one would be pinned on them, too. With a sigh, Cleia turned back to the others. Best to enjoy the day, before the law enforcement showed up, and tardy too, as usual. "Christmas... yeah," Cleia said with a nod. "Let's just hope we don't get any irate Santa or his pet pals intent on... 'spicing' up the day, much like we had here. Of course, with all that went down in this place, linked to this particular festivity, I cannot say that I like Halloween..." She suddenly remembered that Hex had a fickle personality, and that a simple word might set her off, not to mention that this celebration seemed to be liked by Syeena also. Cleia didn't want to say anything too controversial, and so she quickly added, "... yet." |

(And the other half would still be enough to put her in jail :P) The combo of attacks - that, and Blitz ensuring the pumpkin couldn't move, and thus couldn't dodge - left the pumpkin in tatters, well and truly defeated this time, its movements halting as it fell. Inside the remains of the pumpkin, however, the original witch stirred, slowly rising from the ashes of the pumpkin, though she had clearly suffered somewhat from the attacks. Her hair was all over the place, her robe equal parts scorched and torn, and she was leaning heavily on her staff, where she hadn't been before the fight began. Syeena asked if she was still planning on fighting them - which didn't seem like a smart idea in the witch's condition. The older witch, surprisingly, admitted that she had miscalculated somewhat, and promptly opened a portal behind her to escape into after a quick parting quip. Blitz quickly whipped the shrapnel up from where it had fallen after the combo of attacks, but the portal closed before the shrapnel could bind the witch to prevent her escape. Making a 'tch' noise, Blitz let the shrapnel fade away, the metal crumbling into nothingness. Hex hopped up to Syeena and hugged her, no doubt glad to be safe and with her owner once again, Syeena sharing the sentiment. "Glad to see everything worked out in the end." Blitz was silent a moment, then reached up and tapped Shoop on the side of the head with a finger. Shoop rolled his eyes, but said "Alright, it's nice to have you back, since I guess things wouldn't be as amusing without you." |

Syeena felt a bit relieved despite the cryptic threat. Still Syeena knew that the danger had passed... unless of course you were a talking hat mouthing off to the black cat. That was always a recipe for disaster. "Oh geez thanks for that, scratching post. You did a good job sitting pretty on your partner's head," The cat said as she licked her paw and groomed her ears and face. Syeena just rolled her eyes as the two would bicker. Standing up, Syeena looked to Blitz. "It seems I... Owe you a thank you, so ... I said it. Thanks," she said, swallowing her pride as she patted Hex on the head. She then turned to Cleia as well. "And thanks to you-- which is much easier to admit. You're not bad, for a Fairy Tail wizard. Careful how much time you spend with metal head here. He is a bad influence," she teased at Blitz' expense. Clapping her hands and dusting off the dust from her roll around the pumpkin patch, Syeena turned to them. "So, do you wanna wait around her for the Great Pumpkin to show up, or we should go back to the party in town?" Syeena replied. And once again as the night hour grew closer-- the town Halloween party was once again in full swing. Music played and food was passed around. Now everyone could enjoy this Halloween in joy and relative peace. As the Fairy Tail mages were free to have fun, Hex fluttered around the party, playing in the air and enjoying the merry atmosphere. At the front of the party, there was a stage to prepare people for a performance contest as a few people got up and sang, karaoke stuff and the like. But Syeena had a surprise for everyone, or rather The Temperance had. |

It seemed like hex was back to normal, picking on Shoop for another arguing contest. The talking hat had a sharp mouth of his own, so it was likely he would respond (he, from the tone of voice) in kind. Cleia shook her head, but chuckled with amusement. Syeena managed to thank Blitz (they sure had a history together, with the stiff way they often behaved around each other) and then Cleia, who shrugged, laughed at the humorous barb she threw at Blitz, and replied: "You're welcome, Syeena. And I wouldn't be worried about the 'bad influences'. They actually make life fun, and besides, I always seem to have them around." Syeena suggested going back to town, which was probably the next best thing, since there was nothing for them to see or do here, anymore. If anything, curious passers-by would start coming around, and might start attributing all the wreckage of the field to the trio, and the knights, who seemed eager to arrest people in this place, might be very willing to do so. "The town party is the best bet, I suppose. Besides, if the local keep-the-peace guys are on their way here, I think we'd best leave. I'm not ready to spend the rest of the day explaining how grisly witches summoned up large pumpkins and vanished into thin air. Golly, it already sounds preposterous!" The hours passed quickly, and soon it was night. Cleia just hung around her friends and watched the merrymaking, choosing to sample the food, and doing not much else. There was no way in the universe she would step forward and sing any song in front of a crowd. She would just catch her fun watching the whole show. It looked like a performance was about to be staged pretty soon. as she waited, she asked Blitz "What's this festivity 'Halloween' about anyway? People always seem so excited about it, but I often just credit that to humans' proclivity to noise and pleasure." |

"Yes, as is my usual strategy," Shoop said in response to Hex's barb, "Except you, you know, the part where I hurled myself between you and the witch to stop the lightning bolt. I'm sure you remember it - you were there, after all." Shoop noted. He left out the part about Blitz being the one who actually hurled him, as he had realized what Blitz was doing and went with it before he even hit the ground, but still, if Hex thought she actually owed Shoop, she was likely to be less...abrasive. Syeena wasn't much better, in fairness, though she did have the decency to thank Blitz, if rather grudgingly. "You're welcome." Blitz said, though a variety of quips came to mind to add after that, but he kept them to himself. Though when she made the remark of Blitz being a 'bad influence', he said "Oh hey there kettle, name's pot, have we met?" Blitz said with sarcasm. Blitz would have given Syeena an 'ah-ha' look when Cleia mentioned liking bad influences, but as he had just suggested that Syeena was one as well, it would have only backfired if he had. They left the pumpkin field to rejoin the festivities, all the props having thankfully returned to their inanimate state. While everyone else was enjoying the music, Cleia asked Blitz a question about the holiday. "We dress up in costume, eat candy, and occasionally spook people. Doesn't really have much more significant import than that, though the festivals are nice, when they aren't coming to life," Blitz added with a chuckle. |

(And now i get to do my musical ending :P FInally) Indeed it was a lot nicer when the attractions were not coming to attack people, but still Halloween was not right without a little fright every now and then. Needless to say everyone had plenty of that after the strange witch attacked. For now everyone was having fun. Up at the stage, they were looking for people to put on the performance, and they got a note of the first participant. "Attention, for our first performer, is a local lady from right here in Poissentia. A bewitching girl, give a warm welcome to Syeena Fateweaver!" The crowd suddenly applauded and to Cleia and Blitz's possible surprise-- Syeena suddenly teleported into the spotlight, causing a shout and cheer of surprise to the audience. "Hello Poinsettia! Happy Halloween!" Syeena shouted to the crowed, clearly eager to start her performance. In a flash, she suddenly exquipt in a flash of light and cards-- transforming into a witch's outfit that was both appealing and traditional. And with that, the music started playing and she had out of the exquipt, a microphone in hand. Music started to play, according to Syeena's selection as she moved to the beat, her movements both alluring and elegant. WIth that, she brought the mic up and sang her heart out. "Did you see a shooting star, Cross the sky spectacular On the front by mile, Radiating crazy style, The universe comes to me, I can make it look so easy, Like a rare phenomenon, You can see today but I see beyond!" Syeean gestured to the crowd before her in a pointing gesture a she danced, moving gracefully with the witch's outfit flowing around her. Her voice was lower, throaty but energetic as she spoke. The crowd soon was cheering, with the sound of her voice enchanting them and her dancing invoking positive responcses. It was like the music of those witches in the movie-- Hocus Pocus. Her very melody had them under a spell -- in the figurative sense :P "When I get this feelin', Somethings about to happen! Without any reason, It's Supernatural! Some people call me crazy, Somethings there's no explaining! Just believe what you see, It's Supernatural! (Uh Oh Uh Uh Oh) It's Supernatural!" Syeena had always prided herself on her musical talents and it seemed they were not lost here on this stage as the witch performed beautifully. She continued her song, inspiring many into the bewitching hours of the night. With the final part, Syeena took her Witch's hat and tossed it up into the air-- which was soon caught by Hex as she flew in the air above the stage. The little black cat put on the big hat and winked in the direction of Cleia and BLitz. "Mreow! Happy Halloween!! " she meowed with a playful cat-like response as Syeena sang into the night. |

Yeah, Blitz was right on point about the 'spook' part, Cleia would have to mentally agree, as she remembered her very first Halloween and the events that had gone awry. She nodded and looked back at the stage, as the hosts of the show seemed to be looking for someone to go perform. Just as she was about wondering what, or who else would try out their singing skills, the hosts suddenly announced Syeena! So, this was her home town? Well, that was interesting. While Cleia was surprised that Syeena would go up on stage, at least this was a pleasant surprise, and fortunately for all of them there, the chance of local cops coming in to bust the party, because they were looking for some dark mage was very unlikely. Cleia raised an eyebrow as Syeena exquipped into another outfit, though it wasn't like she was not impressed. "Heh, she does have all the stage special effects and stuff mastered, doesn't she?" The music started playing, Syeena started singing, people started dancing, and the only thing that kept Cleia from joining them was that there were too many people (in her opinion) pressing together. Crowds meant too many eyes, and since all of them there, save Syeena, Blitz, Hex and Shoop (yes, somehow, Shoop was a living thing) were strangers, she felt a little reticent. Besides, if she started dancing, and drew too much attention, and got shy, she might not find it easy to secure an escape route, what with all the people here. So, she just settled for clapping, and tapping her feet. Yeah, it was a merry night indeed, and things here were so surreal. Of course, the next day would come with hangovers and headaches and cranky bodies for most of the people here, but one just had to enjoy the moment while it lasted. "Yeah, enjoy the moment while it lasts..." she thought, rising to her feet. Cleia allowed herself to go with the flow of the lively music, although she was still too self conscious to let it carry her totally away... ... but this was a rather good way to end a day filled with crazy witches and lightning bolts and plastic spiders and skeletons and giant pumpkins. A rather good way, indeed. |

Syeena decided to do a performance on stage, changing into a witch's costume, though thankfully without the brief period of lacking clothing like she had in the fight with the pumpkin and the other witch. That wouldn't have been the kind of stage performance they were looking for, Blitz thought. She began singing, and the crowd seemed to like it - alot of people had already started dancing, Cleia included, though Blitz himself didn't - he wasn't much for dancing, seriously or otherwise. At least we dealt with the witch and her creations, Blitz thought. Though odd that the people are dancing like the whole 'props coming to life' thing never even happened. Maybe they're just trying to dance along to forget their worries about it. As everyone was dancing the night away, Blitz took the opportunity to quietly engage his Stealth Fighter technique, disappearing from sight entirely as the crowd was busy with the music. Blitz flew to the top of a nearby building, pausing briefly to look back at the crowd and the stage. Eh, guess she's not so bad. For a dark mage, anyway, Blitz thought, before turning and walking across the shingles, jumping at the edge to reach the next roof, and so on and so forth, leaving the city to their celebrations. Thread End! |
