(@Balmung: Scarecrow, not a brain. Nice ;3 ) Shockingly enough, despite the destraction, the Scarecrow that BLitz fought was easily overpowered and reduced back once more into shrubbery from when it had been animated from. Cleia and Syeena took care of the other one. Syeena threw her cards at the scarecrow, slicing into a few of its body parts but it still came, and that in turn soon caused the other one to run right smack into her scythe. While she might not of had the physical strength to best the monster, the weapon she had was far more durable. As the second one went down, they were clear to go, but it was a maze! Perhaps the witch had not set it on fire yet, but she was trying to find Hex, who was hiding inside. Now how would they find their way? "I think you're right. This magic is very similar. It didn't just control inanimate objects. It brings them to life. I could of sworn I know that magic from somewhere but... yes I think she is the one responsible. " Syeena told Cleia. Luckily for Syeena, she had no interest to play games among these haystacks. "That bitch isn't gonna get the better of me, " Syeena swore and using her acrobatic skills, jumped right up upon the nearest wall, landing on the haystack. When in doubt in a corn field maze, and you need to get out... knock down the walls. Something she bet that Blitz could do easily :P Meanwhile, Hex ran through the maze, darting down several paths and passing by several more scary objects. Killer clowns, spider webs, a bubbling caldron. Hex moved quickly as she zipped and turned... ... till she suddenly reached a dead end in the maze. "Mreow!! Drat!" Hex shouted, angry that she had made a wrong turn. "Stupid maze-made-for-mice." Suddenly there was a fluttering of robes behind her and she turned-- seeing the evil wicked witch hovering above the path of the field. "MREEEOOOOWW!!" Hex meowed, her fur on end and hat pointy, on all fours like a true black cat. She was trapped. The wrinkled old woman had a smile on her face. "Don't worry kitty. I won't hurt you... much," she said, raising her staff and lightning sparking around her, preparing to fire. Hex quivered in the corner of the maze, afraid of the lightning to strike. "Hey, old hag!!" Still sparkling with lightning, the hag turned to her left, seeing the person/persons to interrupt her. AMong them, Syeena stood there, with cards drawn between her fingers and glowing with a bewitching aura. A stern look was on her face, that invited not care or regret. "Get away... from my CAT!!" WITCH theme, sorry but it fits Syeena in this case :P Syeena threw the cards of magic at the witch, the aura of darkness magic on them being strong enough to do serious damage if they struck the witch. However, the wicked witch raised her staff, causing the arcs of lightning it was giving off to come to her aid. She turned them into a type of barrier, and used it to repel the cards, but still they hit hard. At that moment, Hex took off once more-- this time for Cleia and Syeena. The cat literally clawed up the side of the hay stack and jumped into Cleia's arms once more. The cat was now close to them after having detracted the witch. "Mrrrooow... I was so scared!" Hex meowed softly to them, almost in tears of fright. "I'm sorry about what I said. I promise to be a good kitty-- at least for a month!" she said in her own warped way of trying to make an apology. Syeena looked to the cat in her ally's arms, and just sighed. "There, there," She replied with a roll of her eyes. It was nice to see the fright didn't injure her sarcasm. THe witch glared at them, now seeing she couldn't delay them as she had hoped. "Looks like I underestimated you... very well." The witch said as she hovered once more, moving to loom over them slowly. "You now have my ATTENTION!!" Once more, she threw a massive jolt of lightning forward, attempting to tear out the hay, the objects-- pretty much anything in her path! Cat and all. "MOVE!!" Syeena warned, urging Cleia to run too especially since she was the one holding Hex. |

Blitz fixed the first scarecrow so very easily, leaving the other one for the two girls to share between them. As it ran towards them, Syeena flicked out some cards and threw them at the scarecrow, slicing through some of its parts, especially its arms. It seemed to be destabilized by this, because it just ran blindly forward, giving Cleia ample opportunity to slice it from crown to crotch. When she was sure that the threat had been neutralized, she twirled the scythe one more time, then dispelled it into runes. Now, the next hurdle was to find the cat in the maze. Cleia was sure that Blitz could easily do that with his eye that could track stuff, so she would just try to follow him close behind. As they ran, all of a sudden, they burst out of an intersection, and found the witch already backing Hex into a corner, and preparing to fry the cat senseless. Cleia would have attempted a sneak attack, but Syeena called the witch and interrupted her. Either way, Hex didn't end up as cat BBQ, so that was fine. Cleia was surprised that Hex jumped back into her arms, but she liked it. Syeena had distracted the witch, allowing Hex to make her escape, but the witch managed to block the attack, and was now very pissed. "Uh-oh!" The witch cast a large arc of lightning, and Syeena didn't need to ask Cleia to get going. With Hex held tightly in her arms, Cleia jumped out of the way, but not too far. In fact, instead of just running off, she performed what seemed like a botched front flip, which enabled her to spring out of harm's way, but end up on her back. Since Hex was clutched to her chest, she would suffer no harm. Now, the reason for doing that was so that Cleia could quickly end up in a position where she could point her hand at the witch. And runes had already gathered to form a glowing ball. It shot out of her hand and towards the witch, while Cleia scrambled to her feet. Whether the witch dodged it, or met it head on, it would detonate at the closest possible point to cause damage. With the Jinrai's range, hopefully, the witch could be caught in the blast and go down nice and easy. If the witch did not, Cleia wasn't up for running away. "You want to quietly come with us, Granny Grisly, and we'll go easy on you. After all, you've got a lot to answer for." |

(OOC: Glad someone caught that reference, xD) Blitz entered the maze after the short fight with the scarecrow out front, though in fairness, calling that a fight was probably giving it more depth than it actually had. The girls didn't take long to deal with theirs, either - Blitz didn't look back to see exactly how it had been dispatched, but he did hear the other two mages enter the maze shortly after he did - surprisingly fast, but there were two of them, after all. Blitz heard a rustle and glanced to his right to see Syeena leaping off the top of one of the hedges, and further above the maze, hovering in the air, the witch herself, the one who was trying to capture Hex as opposed to the one trying to save her. I wanted to avoid any more damage to the place, given how many props we've already smashed in the last hour or two, Blitz thought, but time is of the essence. Blitz couldn't kick the walls down - not in the usual sense, as he could send the corn flying, but only the stalks he actually made contact with, as the walls were corn stalks, separate plants, not a whole, solid wall made of a single object. Time for Plan B, Blitz thought, crossing his arms slightly as metal raced across his form - not his Double Knuckle technique, which was his usual standard when he needed to armor up, but his Shrapnel Storm technique, covering Blitz and Shoop both in two separate layers of shrapnel metal. The outer layer swiftly began spinning until it was a blur, until Blitz and Shoop resembled a humanoid chainsaw, as if they had donned some sort of spinning blade suit. Blitz charged through the nearest wall and left a Blitz-shaped imprint as the blades sliced through any corn stalks he touched, though he kept a small portion away from his eyes so he could look for Hex. He found her indirectly - when he spotted the witch charging up another attack and heard a cat's meow. Blitz raced towards the spot he'd heard the noise from, slicing through hedge after hedge of stalks as he did so, but Syeena beat him to it, hurling cards from atop the hedges to interrupt her attack, joined swiftly by Cleia. When the witch cast a large thunderbolt, though, Blitz thrust an arm upward, and Blitz's shrapnel ceased spinning and both layers flew to form a spike of metal shrapnel, forming in the air about 5 meters long, the bolt making an almost 90 degree turn to head for the metal and strike it, the charge lingering in the metal since Blitz had kept it away from the ground. "You dropped this!" Blitz yelled, flicking a hand towards the witch, which caused the lightning-charged spike of shrapnel to hurl itself at the witch like a javelin. The squall of electricity sent the corn and hay flying all over the place, clearing a straight path clear through the entire maze, pretty much destroying it. The onlookers outside quickly fled, seeing the destruction and power being unleashed by both parties. Syeena rolled out of the way, landing in a bunch of hay while Hex still stayed with Cleia. Syeena owed the girl a big thank you after this as she took such great care to protect Hex. Shame they were not in the same guild or something. They would of been good friends. But she could worry about being BFFs later. As Blitz also attempted to attack with shrapnel storm needle, Syeena also acted, creating her own cards from magic-- being slightly stronger than the usual variety. She immediately threw it in effect with her own. As well as the rune orbs Celia attempted to throw. However, it was not going to be so easily. At first, this woman appeared to be like a puppet master, using her magic to animate the objects around her. But that was not the case. Raising her staff once more, she released another volley of electricity. It met with all their attacks, but it didn't neutralize them as the shrpanel bits and the explosion did make their way through, knocking the old witch back a bit. However, despite her frail appearance, she still got back up with her walking stick and flashed them a deadly grin. Her eyes... fell to Blitz, with interest. "Ah, what a convince, tin-man. If only you had a heart..." she said with a smirk as her eyes came to see BLitz' metal auto-mail arm. She raised her staff once more in his direction. "Quintessence..." A small almost minimal jolt of electricity flew and struck Blitz in his arm. At first it felt like nothing but then suddenly his metallic arm began to jerk and move of its own accord. She had gained control over it, using her magic to bring it to life. WHAM!! Blitz would soon see him being attacked by his own metallic fist as it attempted to bash him in the face, no doubt surprising him, Shoop and all the others that he would 'appear' to be attacking himself. "Bolt-for-brains?! What are you doing?" Hex meowed as she saw this happened. "Stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself!" It was quite a funny scene, even Hex had to resist giggling. To add more chaos to the situation, she struck the ground with her staff, and now raising three more minions-- skeletal soldiers with swords and shields. She kept bringing things to life around her, as if she controlled life itself. What was surprusing was she used both the summoning of the soliders-- and Blitz's animatation of his arm, to flee. The old woman ran towards the pumpkin patch, attempting to get out of the battle. "Oh no way that hag is getting away!!" Syeena shouted and ran after her. As one of the skeletons tried to swipe at Syeena with her sword, Syeena suddenly vanished-- teleporting to one of the cards she had left on the ground, directly behind the skeleton. With a sweeping kick, she aimed for its brittle bones, causing one to crash. She didn't want to waste more time on these light-weights. She wanted to get to the source and fight the cold crone herself. Note: Duration of enemy control on Blitz arm is 2 posts, unless you know a way to restrain it :P Sorry Blitz lol. |

She had played it safe, but Blitz had given her all the protection she would need, using metal to redirect the lightning like a lightning catcher, then sending it back at the witch. Syeena joined in the more or less concerted attack, throwing a bunch of cards the old witch's way. Surprise, surprise! The hag was made of more durable material than old hag. And things got very strange. The hag's Quintessence magic seemed to be able to 'infect' everything artificial, and Blitz's arm was no exception. Cleia stared at his arm in shock as it attempted to bonk his face repeatedly. While it was funny in some way, Cleia was not sure if the arm could still access the mage's magic or not. It would be rather scary if it could, and this could quickly get ugly. "Mr. Ranfen! Do you have a way to disconnect your arm or something? Unless you don't mind all the bonking..." If anything, it ought to be rather uncomfortable, but that was not their biggest worry yet. For one, the witch had summoned new minions, and these ones were skeletons. With swords. And shields. Wait! Were people actually buried beneath these fields, or were the skeletons just a magical creation? Cleia didn't want to know the answer. It wasn't important, anyway. What mattered now was finding the old hag, who was escaping, and getting rid of the skeleton soldiers. Syeena was not keen on letting the hag out of her sights, and she took down the first skeleton and continued her pursuit. Cleia glanced at the other two skeletons, and noticed that one of them wanted to move to intercept Syeena. So, she acted. "Hang on tight, Hex," she said, as she put Hex on her shoulders and ran to pick the shield of the fallen skeleton. She threw it with all her might at the second skeleton, then picked up the fallen one's sword and charged. The shield she threw was not sufficient to destroy the skeleton, but at least, it rattled its bones. That allowed Syeena to escape, and gave her a clear opening. With a simple but powerful, overhead swing, Cleia liberated the skeleton's skull from off its shoulders and kicked it down a hole. Not your regular game of golf, though Cleia suspected that if the concept of such a game like that had been formed in times of war, as some games actually had been, perhaps it might been borne of a similar event. That left one skeleton, which had its eyeless sights on her. She was sure she could handle it, though she expected that if Blitz, or his talking hat, could help out, it would take a lot less time. Blitz could then easily locate Syeena and the hag, once they were done with his malfunctioning arm, and that soon enough to keep Syeena from any immediate danger. Besides, Cleia was sure the woman could take care of herself. |

The witch was hit clean by both attacks, though it appeared she was more pushed back than injured - the barrier she'd tossed up at the last moment seemed to have taken the brunt of the two attacks. Oddly, she then turned to Blitz, which seemed an unusual choice - Cleia was the one holding Hex, and Syeena was the one who owned her, so Blitz was under the assumption that he was the one she'd be paying the least amount of attention to, in terms of goals, though perhaps not in attacks. When she spoke, though, he realized why her attentions had suddenly turned to him, and he glanced to the left just in time to see his metal arm crash into his Steel Ward, the knuckles creating sparks as they ground against the barrier. Blitz cursed, grabbing the arm by the shoulder and depressing a small section of it before detaching it from his shoulder section, the bit of shoulder showing that it was designed to be detached that way. Then, quickly, he wound the arm inside a tight ball of shrapnel to keep it contained. "....As funny as that was, perhaps I should sit this one out, as it just occurred to me what could happen." Shoop said, glancing at the witch. "I think you're fine," Blitz said. "She can only seem to control inanimate objects - you're an object, technically, but not inanimate. My arm was just an exception because my control extended through it, but it didn't have a will of it's own, for obvious reasons." "You sure about that?" "Positive. Otherwise, why both animating the scarecrows? She could have just animated the corn stalks to entangle the cat and us at the same time. But since they're plants, they're 'alive' and exempt from the effects of that spell." The ball of shrapnel glowed red faintly on the inside before dimming again. "What was that?" Shoop asked. "Probably the arm trying to use the Laser Cannon feature to burn its way out, but the metal holding it is too high a quality to burn through. It'll keep for now. But we just put a time limit on this little spar, as I'd rather not have to babysit my own limb for very long," Blitz added, glancing up at the witch as well - only to find her gone. Glancing around, he noted Syeena in pursuit of what could only be the witch. Syeena dealt with one skeleton, and Cleia hampered then decapitated the second, but as Cleia turned to the third, a ball of spiked shrapnel would smash down from directly above the skeleton, shattering it into bone fragments that scattered across the floor, at least those that hadn't turned to dust. Blitz ran up, going "She might have robbed me of an arm for the moment, but I can still use it as a weapon." The ball that had smashed the skeleton glowed red once more, faintly, before fading again. Blitz made a gesture and the ball rose from the small crater it had made when it landed, splinters of bone crumbling off it like dirt. "Let's go, we don't want to lose sight of the witch." Blitz said. "The one hunting the cat, or the one trying to save the cat?" Shoop asked, which was a fair question. "Both." |

(OOC: Funny posts guys, though Blitz i should of said this before. Her spell can only control the arm weapon physically, not its effects. Just to be clear but nice addition.) As the others finished their share of the skeleton warriors and of course Blitz's rogue arm, Syeena chased the wicked witch into the nearby pumpkin patch just outside the corn maze. After a bit of running, Syeena saw the old hag, her back turned as she looked over the pumpkin patch with her staff in hand. Syeena snarled at her, furious that she tried to hurt her partner. "That's enough running! I had enough of your puppet games," Syeena said as she bared her cards to her, prepared to throw them. "What the hell were you trying to do anyway?" As the others soon caught up to Syeena and the witch, the old woman let out a soft laugh as she slowly turned around. "Why... I suppose you can say this is my 'coming out' party. It has been a long time since I came to my old home. After all, it was a pleasant surprise to meet one of my own among you, fellow sister," she said, her eyes focused on Syeena. This caused Syeena to look surprised and confused. "Wh-what did you just say?" she said, not believing the true words she said-- but only reason she would call her a sister.... was if she was an Umbra Witch, like her! "As for the cat, it was but an ingredient for my brew. Nothing personal of course," she said, smirking in Hex's direction. The cat let out a hiss at the witch from upon Cleia's shoulders, showing how angry she was at the witch. "Well you won't get away now," Syeena shouted, prepared to take down the witch. "Don't think I will go easy on you just cause you are old, lady!" It was likely the others felt the same way. However, the witch remained completely calm all the same. "Ah, very brave of you... but you forgot the most important rule as an Umbra Witch, little one," she said as she lifted up her staff a bit. "Appearances can be deceiving. Quintessence..." she said then tapped the staff to the ground, sending a small jolt of electricity into it! The little jolt became a wave all through the pumpkin patch. It didn't hurt them, but moved along the pumpkins, and as the wave ended, they all began to twitch, wobble and move. Then with a wave of the witch's arm, all the pumpkins began to roll in her direction, and as if began to pile around her, forming a wall. Suddenly with a final flash of energy, the pumpkins all changed, the blinding flash causing Syeena to back up a bit. As it cleared, it was now visible what happened. Towering before them all was a large, shaped Jack-o-lantern with vines coming from below it. The lantern had eyes, as if it very much was alive before them, the inside lit. And inside, through the gaps of its mouth, eyes and nose, they could see her. The witch was now inside the massive pumpkin, standing it as it began to move on its own! It was now clear what she did. She used her magic on all the pumpkins to create one giant creature construct like the others! The moving Jack o lantern was alive, acting as both a creature and as the witch's armor. As she stood cozy inside it, the giant pumpkin began to attack. "You think its mad cause Thanksgiving is so close, and he hates we always have Pumpkin pie?" Hex said sarcastically to leviate the clear horror the cat had at such a large creature. With a loud growl, the pumpkin began to lash its massive vines out and attempted to attack the mages. Note: Pump-King Armor: Strength: 100 Stamina: 100 Speed: 40 Accuracy: 50 Attack damage worth: Rank 5 attack damage. The pumpkin is as durable as S class armor, containing inside it the witch that is animating the pump-king armor. Key goals, hinder and slow down the giant monster. Blitz, don't over do it :P. This boss will last a bit, but it is the final boss. Key goals to try and get attacks THROUGH into the witch's area of comfort. Defeat will not happen in one shot guys so be ready. |

Cleia did not see how Blitz handled his problem, but when a shrapnel ball descended from above with frightening speed and obliterated the skeleton, she knew he had it under control. She looked at the ball, then at him, and noticed that his arm was missing. Of course, the next thing was supposed to be her commenting about his arm, but she kept her mouth shut. She didn't know what it would be like to lose a limb, but she was sure it would be nothing short of traumatic. And thus, raising such a topic with Blitz might not sit well with him. As blitz explained that he could still use his magic, which was a relief to her, the shrapnel ball glowed faintly red suddenly, then faded. Her eyes widened, and she blinked once at the shrapnel ball, her mind warning that the thing was probably not safe. However, she noticed that Blitz was not bothered, so she calmed herself. Whatever the arm was doing inside, it would be unable to break out, hopefully. Cleia nodded to Blitz's suggestion about keeping track of the witch (could be Syeena, or Grisly, or both); either way, finding one meant finding the other. Since Blitz had his tracking eye, she would let him do the finding. On catching up to Syeena, Cleia was just in time to hear the older witch make ,mention of her being Syeena's sister, or something like that. Although she wanted to know what that meant, it was not really her conversation, so she just listened. Hex, who was still on Cleia's shoulders, understandably took offense at the witch's offhand explanation for trying to fry her whiskers. Everything went on as normal conversation, until the witch used her magic to carry out one last unnerving act. Cleia found herself staring at this huge pumpkin which housed the witch, keeping her safe from all their attacks. Of course, they would have to break through the pumpkin to get to Grisly. The pumpkin, for its part, had large vines, which it began trying to use to whip the mages. With a groan, Cleia ducked behind Blitz. "Why do I always have to fight against plants?" She felt her Jinrai might be strong enough to damage the pumpkin, but it wasn't ready yet, and thus, she would have to hide behind Blitz for the time being, until her technique was ready and she could employ it against the pumpkin. For now, she would focus on keeping herself and Hex safe. |

(Ah, misunderstood, but ty for clarifying, though I don't think it'll be an issue at this point xD) Blitz ran after the pair of witches, though due to his brief sidetracking to contain his arm, he had fallen slightly behind, so he missed the little speech from the older witch, only running out of the corn maze just as the pumpkins flashed with light and fused together into one giant pumpkin with the witch visible inside, though the openings in the jack-o-lantern pumpkin weren't really large enough for a precision attack, and the vines were on the outside to attack it, and most likely, to keep them away from the one side of the pumpkin with openings in it. Blitz didn't want to attack her with the shrapnel ball - he could feel the arm weakening in its struggle inside the ball, and the last thing he wanted was to give her a chance to possess it once again. Instead, he moved the shrapnel ball a few meters behind him, so his own body was between the witch and the arm containing the shrapnel ball, so he could intercept any attempts to hijack his mechanical limb again. Meanwhile, the Pum-king needed dealing with. This whole ordeal wouldn't end until they stopped the witch, but they'd have to get to her first, and given that she could shoot lightning from her fingertips, it spoke well of the Pum-king's defenses that she trusted it to handle any external threats. Cleia seemed well aware of the latter part, as she ducked behind Blitz as well. "Just stay put," Blitz said to Cleia, raising his remaining hand as he did. "I'll help Syeena deal with the vegetable. You can focus on keeping the cat out of her hands - don't forget, it's her goal for this fight, so don't let her get to it, even if it means you have to take the cat and run at some point." Shrapnel formed in several places in the air, clustering together and pressing into larger forms - about a half-dozen pairs of what resembled pruning shears, but with oversized blades, so that it looked more like a bunch of scissors made by crossing greatswords together. Blitz thrust his hand towards the Pum-King, and the shears began making short work of any vines that shot their direction. It'll be easier to crack that gourd if it can't hit us while we do it, Blitz thought. |

Blitz was actually good when it came to observing things, Syeena had to admit. She would have to give more credit and not such a hard time when this was over. As the giant pumpkin began to swing its vines and try to attack, Syeena immediately went on the assault. As the first vine came down with a crack of a whip-- Syeena dodged and rolled out of the way. Rolling around in the dirt was not flattering but she was grateful as the vine cracked into the ground behind her. They would have to try and slow down this walking goard. Limit its movements somehow and that would probably give them some means of doing more damage. As the pumpkin roamed after them, its mouth and eyes moved with life, giving them angry glares and roaring at them with fury. All the while the witch stood calmly inside. (Similar to Susanoo from Naruto :P ) All the while Syeena kept her eyes on the gaps, and got an idea. She just had to keep it still long enough-- and then she could take the fight to her. At that time as well, Blitz would notice the movement of his hexed arm now stopped . It seemed the enchantment had faded on it, and now allowed him to use it again whenever he wished (Blitz' arm is now free to use again) . "Guys, keep it busy and try to restrict its movements!" Syeena shouted, producing her magic cards once more. This time she had them glow with darkness magic again. Adding more power to her attack, she threw the cards, causing bursts of darkness magic to blow up along the surface of the overgrown pumpkin upon impact. Sadly... it wouldn't break it. It was sturdy and strong, the spell the witch using to make the pumpkin into a moving armor rather ingenious. Regardless, Syeena charged forward to get closer. Edited by Zaber, Nov 20 2015, 08:22 PM.
