Cleia seemed to think over what Blitz had said before pointing to an alleyway, suggesting that Hex was probably more focused on putting distance between herself and the group than focusing on not being followed. "True enough, and more than likely, she didn't want to run off for keeps, just run off, sulk for a bit, then return later when she'd calmed down, or at least return to Syeena," Blitz said, rubbing his chin in thought. "Still, shouldn't be too hard to locate the missing feline," Blitz said, closing his eyes and then opening them again, and his eyes had turned into a crosshair of sorts - his iris turning green and forming 4 prongs to form something resembling a targeting reticule, with his pupils as the center dot - the aesthetic effect of his Tracking Vision ability. "Yeah, I can see the direction she went off in," Blitz said, his eyes following a trail of green pawprints down the alleyway. "We should probably go that way first, though," Blitz added, pointing off to his left - there was nothing there, but Blitz could see the green trail of footprints going off down the street, which were no doubt Syeena's, even without Tracking Vision telling him that - size of the footprint was a clue, as was the shape - the blur of visible footprints from the knights was nearby - it could only be them, as they were all nearly identical thanks to the armor they wore - and none resembled the one Blitz could see. "Once we find her, we can tell her that we can locate her cat, and go from there. I would have told her before, but didn't get much of a chance," Blitz said with a shrug. "She didn't actually teleport away when the knights burst in earlier, just so you know. She actually turned invisible, but I've been able to see around stuff like that for ages," Blitz said with a slight smile, tapping a finger under his transformed eyes. "Didn't want to ruin her cover in front of the knights, though, since she had a legitimate reason to leave, so I kept quiet about it at the time. Technically, the knights were correct, she DID run off, just....not at the moment they thought she did," Blitz said with a chuckle. "Anyway, let's grab the witch real quick and then we'll find her familiar," Blitz said, unknowingly echoing the other witch's line as he walked down the street, following the prints, turned a corner when they did, into another alley, and spotted Syeena near the alley's end, still cloaked in whatever magic was hiding her from the sight of the knights - makes sense to keep it in use, just in case they're still nearby, Blitz thought. He walked up behind her quietly, making slightly less noise than a silk spider as he walked up, saying "I can see you, by the way." Edited by Balmung6, Oct 28 2015, 01:28 AM.

Syeena was about to make another turn and head for the next part of town to find Hex-- but then was stopped as someone whispered something in her ear. Her hair stood up on end. "EEEEEK!!" she let out a rather girlish scream, something she never wanted to do. Ever. She spun around and looked to find Blitz, his annoying talking hat, and the young woman from before. She cast a snarl at them, while still under the cover of her invisibility cloak. After a moment, Syeena sighed, seeing they saw through her cover. Damn... I gotta get this invisibility cloak upgraded I guess, she thought. Irritated by how cocky Blitz appeared to be, Syeena removed her hood-- immediately undoing the invisibility spell around her to reveal herself. The outfit she wore that gave her the power was a light blue and white outfit with magic runes. She wore thight high boots, and loose skirt and cloak, a light blue tunic on as well. It was an alluring outfit at least, and used in the style of thieves or rouges. "Sneaking up on a lady, Blitz? You really are a pervert aren't you?" she half-joked, irritated how he snuck up on her like that. "So... what is it you want? If you are going to try and 'arrest' me, can it wait till after I find my friend?" Syeena said in a rather impatient tone. Each time that passed, Syeena would lose track of Hex. "I have no interest to cause trouble with you, Fairy Tail Wizards. Not unless you give me cause to." It seemed Syeena was concerned these two were after her now to turn her over to the knights, even if there was no crime done on her part. Well... this time, anyway. As the witch continued to stir the giant caldron, Hex was calmly sitting on the ground. The Exceed cat was licking her paw and grooming herself, like any real cat would do. The glow of the caldron lit up the witch's face wickedly, as she let out a throaty chuckle. "Ah... it is almost done. A lovely brew indeed..." the witch said. Hex cocked her head as she looked at the Witch. "You making me a soup or something?" she mewed innocently. The witch chuckled a bit as she finished stirring with the giant spoon. "You could say that..." she said with a mild sly intent. Finding the leg of a newt, she dropped it into the pot and it let out a large green cloud. "Perfect. The potion is near complete. NOw only... one thing remains..." she said, looking in Hex's direction. Hex continued to rub her paw over her ears and whiskers. She was very tidy about her black fur as she didn't notice the witch step beside her. "Oh really?" Hex asked, "What's that?" A toothed grin spread across the witch's face. "The WINGS of an Exceed's back," she answered darkly. "Oh, the wings of an Exceed's back. That's not--" Hex stopped talking as her eyes opened wide with realization. After all, she WAS an Exceed. She could tell the old woman was leering at her and now she knew why. "MRREEOOOOWWW!!!" Hex screamed/meowed in fright. Like something from a Tom and Jerry Cartoon, Hex took off and ran away. "Now, now. I don't mean your literal wings-- but your MAGIC itself," the witch said, not at all concerned as the cat began to run. She raised her magic staff and pointed it at the cat. Sparks of lightning soon sparkled from the tip and soon, she released a blast of lightning! The blast aimed to get Hex, and to stop her from running. Meowing in shock, Hex literally pounced out of the way as the lightning struck behind her. As she was inside a tree, the cat easily climbed up the knots and shapes of the bark inside. The cat found the window, dodging another lightning bolt and shot out the window. She left her hat behind for a second-- but doubled back and got the hat, right as the third lightning bolt would of fried it. "Ah, I do love a good hunt," The witch said, suddenly vanishing in a flash in order to catch the cat! (OOC: When Blitz would scan for Hex, he will see her on the run from the wicked witch) |

Cleia turned and looked towards where Blitz pointed, a confused frown on her face. She was about to ask him why they would be headed off in that direction, when he explained that that was the path Syeena had taken. She also noticed his eye technique; funnily it reminded her of the Archive mage, Varriden Stone, and his technique copying, though the patterns on his iris was different from that of Blitz's. For a fleeting moment, she wondered what perception difference such eye techniques would give the caster... then she suddenly noticed that Blitz was already walking. "Oh!" she said with a start, and trotted after him. To Cleia's vision, Blitz simply walked silently up to the corner of the wall at the end of the alley, and said an "I can see you, by the way." There was a disembodied shriek, that actually made Cleia start. No matter how much she strained her eyes, she did not see anything, until Syeena pulled off a hood and faded into reality. Cleia wondered how expensive such robes of invisibility would be, and whether her magic could find a way of fishing out invisible targets. Such would really be handy. But that wasn't important right now. She gave Syeena an incredulous look. "And why would we want to arrest you? You're a dark mage, sure, but so far you don't seem to have caused any trouble. Of course, I have my opinions about dark guilds, and my own advice, but I'm pretty sure you won't want to hear them, so I won't bother. What is more important is that Mr. Ranfen and I want to help you find your cat; in fact, I think he might just know where she went. So, I think you should be pleased to see us. By the way, nice guess you made, but I never really said I was Fairy Tail... unless I'm getting famous, and I'd eat my shoes before I believed that." |

Syeena was startled - could hardly blame her, really, as someone invisible rarely expected someone to get the drop on them - and accused Blitz of being a pervert, which he thought she might, to some extent, thus why he had refrained from actually grabbing her shoulder or something akin to that. "I didn't lay a hand on you, you'll note, I merely called out to you - you're the one that immediately freaked out." Blitz pointed out. "Besides, I got the feeling you were....less than pleased with me when we parted company, so I figured it would be prudent to get close enough to tell you that we've discovered where your cat is holed up before you had a chance to storm off again." "And yes, I think I can hold off on handing you over to the knights while your cat is still missing," Blitz said with some sarcasm. "Give me some credit, geez." "Now, if you're done with accusations and assumptions, I can lead you to your missing pet," Blitz said, glancing around to try and catch sight of Hex's trail again, eventually spotting a trail a bit further down the alleyway that no doubt crossed with the other alleyway somewhere. "Ah, there's her trail." Blitz said, following the green pawprints on the ground, though only he could see them. After a short time had passed, they were close enough to Hex that Blitz picked her up on his Radar Sense. "Ah, now I can sense her properly without using Tracking," Blitz said, letting his eyes return to normal. A moment later, though, he frowned. "She's there, alright, but I think she's being chased by something, or someone." Blitz's pace increased. "Someone with magic that they're unleashing in Hex's direction." Blitz cursed, heading for where he sensed Hex was. Edited by Balmung6, Oct 29 2015, 05:36 PM.

Syeena looked at the two Fairy Tail mages. "It was pretty obvious since you two were so friendly with one another with metal head over here," she said still putting a drive to Blitz. It was almost just playful banter than actual insults. While she and Blitz did not get along, she had no ill will to Fairy Tail. It probably would cause her more problems than it solved with Grimore Heart if they learned she had sympathy for people in light guilds. Either way, at first she was defensive, but then Blitz said he had a way to track down Hex easily than just searching the allyways. Syeena watched as Blitz's eyes somehow changed with a means to detect other people. Syeena was aware of sensory magic but didn't think a mage like Blitz could do something like that. She kept quiet for the time being, her arms crossed as she listened to him. And then he said it... Something was chasing Syeena. Her eyes lit up with concern. "What did you say? " she said, now a bit more worried than Hex just throwing a hissy fit. But now she was worried that someone was after her precious friend and familiar. "Where is she? Right now, what direction?!" she exclaimed, with all the intimidating temper a woman can muster. Once she had it, she knew it was time to go. "Try to keep up!" she said and threw one of her cards at the rooftop in the direction Blitz designated. Once the card struck and lodged into thed stone of the building-- she vanished in a flash of multi colored light. And in the blink of an eye , she dropped to the rooftop where she threw the card. WIth that, she took off, intended to save her feline friend. Meanwhile, Hex was on the run. The black cat sprinted down the street like a black blur as she ran away from the scary witch's house. For a moment as she ran past and threw carts, people and other obstacles with relative ease, the cat for a moment thought she had gotten away. "Whew... that was close--" ZAP!! A bolt of lightning arched right in front of her, causing Hex to swirve out of the way and keep running. Floating in the distance in flight was the evil witch with her staff. She kept an eye on the little cat as she ran and intended to catch it. "Here, kitty, kitty, kitty!" she sang almost pleasantly as she raised her staff and launched another barrage of lightning after the cat. Hex quickly ducked and darted across the street, despite the chaos the lightning was causing. The witch was still hot on Hex's trail-- leading right back to the Halloween festival right at the end of town near the pumpkin patch! |

An expression of surprise and concern instantly replaced the calm smirk of amusement Cleia had had from listening to the sharp wits of both Syeena and Blitz. He had just said something was chasing the cat, and he seemed bothered about it. That would most likely mean that whatever it was that was on Hex's tail (no pun intended?) was capable of causing grievous bodily harm... or worse. As Syeena used some sort of teleportation mechanism to transport herself to the rooftops, Cleia ran along on the street below, keeping an eye out for any signs of the black cat. The running took her back to the place where it had all began, where the pumpkins and spider had decided to ruin the festival. As she returned to the clearing, as luck would have it, there came Hex, running for all she was worth, and the cackling hag that floated after. The hag continued firing lightning bolts at Hex, obviously enjoying her evil game, while the poor Exceed was scared almost out of her wits. Hex was running in her direction, so Cleia focused first on saving the Exceed. Her two friends could get the witch off her, if the need arose. A myriad of runes generated themselves around the girl's body, and she used her momentum to perform what would resemble a sliding tackle, except that she wasn't trying to kick any soccer ball. At the moment the witch would fire some of her lightning bolts, Cleia would reach out and catch Hex, while the runes would form a wide halo around her and create a golden-red barrier. "Don't scratch, please! I'm here to help," she crooned to the frightened Exceed. She paid no attention to the bolts of lightning, because once they hit the barrier, they would bounce right back at the witch! Once she was done calming Hex down, she glared up at the witch, as she rose to her feet, with Hex clutched protectively to her body. "Pick on someone your own size, granny, if you don't mind. Didn't your mother teach you... oh sorry, did you not ever teach your children not to take things that didn't belong to them?" |

Blitz sighed. "I don't ask for gratitude, as its unseemly, but you're acting rather stubborn towards someone who saved your cat from becoming charcoal and helped you escape a witch hunt of his own free will." Blitz said. "I would think that that would prove I have no ill will towards you or your furry companion, at the very least." When Blitz mentioned Hex, Syeena perked up, but moreso when he mentioned that she was being chased, as she began demanding answers, and in fairness, Blitz saw no reason to deny her the knowledge. "A few streets over, in one of the backalleys, though she's running around alot, as you can probably imagine. She's doing fine for the moment, but I can't say if that will last if whoever is chasing her catches up to her." Soon as Syeena had that info, she hurled a card to the rooftop and teleported to it - she does that rooftop teleport alot, now that I think about it, Blitz thought briefly - and then Syeena ran off, telling them to keep up. "I can do better than that, girl." Blitz said. He turned to Cleia briefly. "Sorry to do this, but time is of the essence, so I'm going on ahead - just follow the noise and you'll no doubt find us soon enough." Blitz turned and began dashing forward so fast that he would seem to just disappear from Cleia's point of view. Just short of the street where the cat and witch had just emerged onto, Blitz stopped, causing a slight gust of wind from the air displacement. For a moment, it seemed like he wasn't going to do anything, but he reached up and grabbed Shoop by the hem and leaned back with one arm. "What are-" Shoop began to ask, but didn't get a chance to ask anything else before he was hurled into the night air, right between the cat and the witch. Damn idiot, Shoop thought. I see what he's doing, and he could have asked me first. As the next lightning bolt came down, Shoop's hat-shaped barrier bubbled into place, bouncing off the shield and away into the night sky. "If you need a cat so badly, lady, there's an adoption center someplace nearby, though I think you're probably on some kind of list by now, if any of them saw you hurling bolts." Shoop said, landing neatly between the witch and the cat. Cleia arrived not long after to put a barrier around Hex to shield her, which helped. |

As Hex suddenly found herself in the arms of the other girl-- Syeena was hopping across rooftops and tree limbs, moving elegantly as a vision upon the air. Her acrobatic skills made her ability to hop across the rooftops pretty easy as she had done a lot of that from a young age. Teleporting merely aided her attempt. She arrived soon enough to see Blitz ahead of her and acted. Despite the girl holding Hex and Shoop's shield, the witch was far from giving up. "Petty insults will hardly be a match for me, whelps! " she answered and raised her staff. At that , she pointed it to the ground and lightning smashed into the earth. Despite the protection of Shoop's barrier, the upheave of earth and stone still caused damage to jarr them and lightning to terrify. With a cat-like hollar, Hex jumped out of Cleia's arms and scamppered off to the festival grounds. Seeing the cat run, The witch followed and so aiming towards the area where Hex ran-- Heading right into a 'Corn maze' attraction. Hex ran into the maze, made up of stacks of hay with scary halloween obstacles and decorations, challenging people going through to brave them to escape the other end of the maze near the pumpkin patch. As the witch soon entered the maze, flying with a good view above it-- she noticed a few scarecrows beside the turns in the first part of the maze. She gave a wicked grin and pointed a hand at them. "Quintessence!!" She shouted, causing lightning to strike from her palm and upon the two scarecrows. Suddenly as the others would attempt to follow, they would see the seemingly ordinary and harmless scarecrows shift and change, their faces becoming scarier and more intimidating-- as they literally erected themselves and started to charge at them! (Scarecrow stats: 50 each physical stat. Capable of Rank 5 slashing damage) They would have to get past the scarecrows to rescue Hex from the witch, as well as find her through the maze! Meanwhile, Syeena also caught up to Blitz and the others, landing on the wall of the maze. "Ugh... I hate scarecrows..." Syeena sighed. |

Hex was safe now, what with the talking hat's shield and her own barrier. Now, they could take on the witch and... "convince" her to leave the Exceed be. However, before anyone could say or do anything else, the flying witch showed that she was not some pushover, creating some lightning strong enough to bust the road around them and cause them discomfiture, even through the shields. Hex, being a cat, was just as jumpy as cats get, and with a scared yowl, she jumped out of Cleia's arms and took off again. "No, wait! Blast!" She took off after Hex, and the witch, who just ignored the trio and followed her quarry to the festival grounds. The cat had run into a corn maze, obviously to lose the witch, but having an aerial view usually made labyrinth games much easier, meaning that the witch would easily spot her. Cleia got to the edge of the maze, stopping beside Blitz. "Somebody please tell me why people are making a maze from corn stalks for this festival..." she muttered as she readied herself to run into the maze. But suddenly, the witch above performed some fell magic, and the scarecrows came alive! They actually looked a little like something out of a horror movie, with their ghastly leers and skeletal frames. The scarecrows were running towards them, and Cleia suddenly clicked her fingers, because somethings were suddenly starting to make sense. "Props coming alive, acting on their own, and now, these scarecrows... Quintessence, she call it, right? I suppose we know who is responsible for all this mess, no?" It looked like the scarecrows would not let them pass until they were overcome. Cleia extended her arms, and runes gathered swiftly to form a staff. A wicked curved blade suddenly sprouted out from one end, transforming it into a scythe. Cleia held her weapon in both hands, and waited for the scarecrows to come close, so that she could hack at them. "Time for some good old pumpkin carving." From the way the scarecrows ran, they were quite fast, probably even more than herself. She would have to time her attacks well, or create an opening for the others, or even utilize an opening if she saw any. She started twirling the scythe, as she walked towards the scarecrows, hoping to use the motion to keep the scarecrows at bay, until she would attack in a downward slashing motion, intent on splitting its noggin clean in two. |

If the appearance of a shield-creating magical hat and a barrier-creating girl threw the witch off her game, she hid it well. The witch raised her staff again, but instead of throwing another bolt at the shield - which had already been proven as fruitless - she instead cast a bolt into the ground, rupturing it with jagged spikes of stone. They didn't pierce the barriers, but the sudden upheaval of earth threw the group off-balance for a good moment, one that Hex used to wriggle free of Cleia's grasp and into the nearest place that looked safe enough to hide in - which was apparently a corn maze. The witch is hurling lightning and she's hiding in a field of flammable corn stalks? Shoop thought with an exasperated internal sigh. Blitz stepped out of the alley as the witch took off, picking Shoop up off the ground and dusting him off before placing him back upon his head. "All done?" Blitz asked. "Yes, I played my part as the 'hero' as you no doubt intended when you flung me into the street," Shoop said with some annoyance. "Now let's move before the witch decides to cut her losses and just torch the maze." Blitz nodded and was about to take off into the maze after the cat, when the scarecrows by the entrance suddenly sprung to life - and judging by the words of the witch just before that occurred, it was safe to say who had been animating the city's props. Cleia ran up when Blitz paused, pointing out the same thing. "Yeah, I noticed that as well," he said, moving towards the front gate the scarecrows were blocking. While Cleia seemed to have the first one under control, the second one leapt at Blitz, not the smartest move - but in fairness, it didn't have a brain. Blitz deflected the slash off to one side with his metal arm, before smashing downward with a metal fist from his right hand that was big enough to pick up a small car, smashing it flat against the ground. When Blitz lifted his hand, what was left of the scarecrow was little more than flecks of straw and bits of kindling. "Sorry, no time to be nice about it," Blitz said, brushing the mess off his hands as he let his arm transform back and ran into the maze after Hex. |
