Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Honesty without tact is cruelty.

Snow had spent her time most recently training in the guild. As always her sleep was peaceful, and she dreamed wonderful dreams. She knew she did, because she hated waking up. What they actually were about was all sorts of hazy. And lately, even more than the training, she had taken to her old habit of avoiding other people like the damn plague. She hadn't liked being around many of them before now, but it seemed now every one kept asking her about Ranth. She insisted she had never met the man (and she would probably punch him if she ever did at this rate.) Everyone but Sohpie seemed to think that he was supposed to be somehow tied to her. This left her angry, and frustrated. And usually with a splitting fucking headache.

The dummies in the practice yard had taken one hell of a beating thus far. But even here she was starting to get that annoying nagging feeling. Had she seen him here? Had they been friends? She did have friends. Not many, of course, but a few she trusted.

It was, fortuitously, that after a bout of both the feeling of sadness, and the relief of frustrations on the dummies, that Sophie found her. "Honey. You're not very happy." Snow had sighed, laying one sweating arm on the dummy and putting a towel around her neck. Damp curls clung to her face. "How the hell am I supposed to be happy? Everyone has been told I have amnesia. And they still insist on 'Ranth' this and 'Ranth' that. I kind of hate him. And I don't even know him. Its...Really aggravating."

Sophie had been by her side on and off since she had returned from her last journey abroad. "I know. But its almost festival time! The leaves are changing, and the weather is nice. And...I have a little surprise for you." Pretty eyes peeked at Snow over a lace fan. "Oh gods. What is it?" Sophie surprises tended to end with Snow being dressed up like a porcelain doll. Which, surprisingly, tended to be painful.

"We, you and I, have been given a mission from the higher ups. I am not the only one tired of seeing you moping about the place like..." Sophie didn't finish her sentence, but that wasn't unusual nowadays. 'Like you lost your best friend' didn't even begin to cover it. "Well..Like a mope. So we're going on a mission. To this fabulous mansion in Poinsettia, and then ... We get. To go. To a. BALL." While Sophie squealed, Snow muttered "Oh fuck me sideways. I knew it would be dress up." But it seemed these orders were official.

Apparently, weird things happen in Poinsettia around this time of year. We've been charged with making sure nothing goes wrong. Or if it does, to stop it. And in the meantime... WE CAN DANCE. AND KISS AND SCHMOOZE."

Snow laughed, her first one in a while. "Fine! Whatever! I'm not kissing you though!" And with that she was off upstairs to pack. She glanced at the wall in her room, looking forward to seeing a familiar place. And started packing.

"Happy Halloween. Weirdo." With any luck, she'd at least not have forgotten anyone there. And what's more, she would maybe regain some memories she'd thought lost. One could only hope.

Sarcasm. Because beating the shit out of people is illegal.

He had lay in complete stillness on that starry shore until the break of dawn. In the intervening hours, he'd been content to stare into the starlitdarkness and ask himself questions. For he found that when he asked questions, a voice in his head obliged with an answer. Where was he? Galuna Island. Where was Galuna Island? Off the coast of Fiore. What was Fiore? One of the countries that made up Earthland. This process continued without interruption for hours as he built an understanding of the world around him one question at a time.

However, he soon realised that he didn't have an answer for every question. Who was he? Silence. How had he come to be here? Silence. Why couldn't he remember anything? Silence. At first he was frustrated, why was it that he could rattle off the names of each country and a long list of rulers for each whilst not knowing his own name? Why did he know that there were thirteen buns in a bakers dozen, but also the ideal weight and balance point of a broadsword? So many questions, so many answers... just not all of the ones he was looking for.

Eventually, the crucial question lay not in the past, but in the present. Where should he go? To this at least, there was an answer. Return to the mainland. So as the sun rose, so too did a man who was almost as naked within as he was without. For of course he'd awoken without a shred of clothing, though his body seemed indifferent to the elements. But when posed the question, the answer pushed him to wear clothes regardless. Apparently there was more to protected himself from than the weather. This place... Earthland... was a dangerous one.

* * * * * *
Weeks passed, though he didn't really put much energy into tracking the number of times the sun rose and fell. In that time he'd left Galuna island and made his way to the mainland. He'd also attained the clothing he currently wore- ill fitting as they were- which consisted of a worn pair of brown boots, a pair of grey trousers fastened with a fraying piece of rope and a tattered cloak that covered his torso and brushed his ankles as he walked.

The former owner of these clothes didn't bear thinking about, but he did so anyway- probably for the first and last time. He'd simply asked the man if he could have his clothes and the response had been a violent one. Unfortunately, his counterattack had been a mite excessive and the next time he'd asked, he'd been asking a corpse and the corpse had't said no, so he'd helped himself. He vaguely understood that he wasn't meant to conduct transactions in this manner, but that was an issue to deal with later. For now, his destination was the closest capital city. Poinsettia. There, he hoped to find something.

He didn't know yet what that 'something' was, but on his inexorable march he'd come to a stunningly obvious realisation. He was bored. The excitement that he'd had upon waking up on that island and slowly piecing together the situation had faded after the ten thousandth footfall of his current journey. So he'd decided quite some time ago that he'd focus on what seemed most important. Having fun. Besides, it seemed the logical course of action was to have as many experiences as possible. On the one hand, they might jog some memory from his past. On the other hand, if he had no memories to recover then he'd best get started on making some.

As he neared the city- one of Fiore's most prominent- he began seeing more and more people on the roads. Most gave him a wide berth thanks to his attire, making him realise that he'd do well to find an alternate outfit once he had means to do so. He realised with mystified curiosity that he knew what kind of attention he might bring. He just didn't know quite how or why he knew it.

Within an hour Snow and Sophie were on a train, the one owned and operated by Grimoire Heart of course, on their way to Poinsettia. Sophie was still gushing about the upcoming ball, and how she couldn't wait to see all the well dressed men at the mansion. Snow was just trying her best to tune the woman out. She knew Sophie meant well, and knew her friend was excited, but she could have cared less about getting dressed up. She wanted to spend some time in Poinsettia reminiscing about Rose and Alastor. Those being her best memories there.

As the train stopped, she finally found Sophie being quiet. A relief, and a worry. "You stopped chattering. Are you ok?" Snow meant it as a jest, but she could see Sophie was getting into serious mode. "Come on Sophie. Whatever happens here on Halloween it can't be all that bad." Sophie followed Snow as she ascended the ladder from the underground station just outside of Poinsettia. "Oh it's not that. We have to figure out your make-up. And your hair. And it's going to take ages. We only have until sundown."

Snow rolled her eyes, already filtering through the entry point of the large city. She found a strange familiarity even in this most simple gesture, and she sighed, annoyed at the fact that she couldn't even roll her eyes without it being somehow tainted. "And here I thought you were serious about this little request." she snapped, suddenly irritated. Sophie, for her part, understood her friend's irritation all too well, and so took it in stride. "I am serious. Do you know how much work it takes to be this serious about beauty? A lot. So just relax. We'll take care of business, and relax a little all at once. No big deal."

Snow huffed and sped up, accidentally bumping into some bum with ill fitting clothes. She apologized immediately and offered up some money by way of apology. He seemed rather young to already be on the streets, but it happened she supposed. "Sorry." Whether he took the money or not was his decision. She moved on without thought, her feet set for the Lavender Dog. Her very favorite bar/inn here in Poinsettia. "Really Sophie, I don't want to get dressed up for the Masquerade. Can't I just wear some armor and be done with it?" Sophie caught up with her and snapped her fan shut audibly, laughing. "Oh honey. . . No."

She moved through the wooden door, and smiled as she saw Toby behind the bar. "Hey I'm home!" The short man smiled at her, and came round the bar to give her a hug. "Your room is just up the stairs. Good to see you Snow." Snow smiled her thanks and started up, Sophie hot on her heels. "Ah yes. Let's get to work."

"State your business". The question came from a distinctly bored looking man dressed in what he supposed passed for armor posted outside Poinsettia's main gate. Immediately, he wondered what sort of response he was meant to give to this man so as not to cause a scene. In a heart beat, that ever present voice inside his head was at hand to give him the answer. Seeking food and shelter after a long journey. Did everyone have a voice inside their heads that guided them?if not, then they were really missing out on a lot.

"I'm tired and hungry and I've been on my feet for days", he grumbled with what he hoped would be the right amount of healthy disdain. As expected, the guard spared him no more than a glance before waving him through and repeating the same question he'd asked hundreds already and would continue to ask hundreds more before his shift was over. Not that he was of any threat to the safety of its citizens, but it did make him wonder what purpose posting a guard did when they didn't pay any attention to who got through.

He hadn't made it more than a few steps inside the gate before he stopped to adjust his left boot when something collided with him from behind. It wasn't the most tremendous impact, but it was enough for him to stumble and hop awkwardly on one foot until he regained his balance. Curious more than angry, he turned towards the offending party only to find a small pouch being thrust into his field of vision. What on earth was... oh, free money? Why on earth not?

He took the offered funds and tucked it straight into one of the coat pockets that he deemed fit for holding anything. Much less something of any value. He didn't bother thanking his happenstance benefactor, as she and the woman she seemed to be travelling with barely paused in stride to dip into their pockets for his sake. He couldn't understand why anyone would give away money, but since he was benefiting he surely wasn't going to chase them down and return it.

Once he'd secured his surprise stipend and moved away from the main gate he found a secluded spot to examine exactly how much money he'd been given. He entertained a brief worry that he wouldn't understand or recognise the currency, but that fear- like so many others- turned out to be a needless one as the values sprang immediately to mind upon looking at them. If only the same could happen when he looked in the mirror- it was tiresome not having a name and he was reluctant to choose one in haste lest he change his mind later. names were, as he understood, not something one changed according to whim.

Ultimately, what he found himself with was enough money to secure a room at a modest inn for upwards of three nights. However, for a single nights rent he could also manage to acquire a new set of clothes. They wouldn't be the fanciest, but they would at least fit and that was something that he was sure would make the whole idea of wearing clothes at all more palatable. If not, he sincerely wondered if anyone could actually force him to wear clothes if he didn't want to.

It took all of five minutes for Sophie to attack once they'd entered the room. Toby had run up the stairs twice at the sound of Snow's yelps only to hear a unison, "Its fine!" But it did hurt. In a very physical and distracting way. Snow was having her hair teased and combed, and pinned, and coiffed in more ways than she could imagine. She sat at a dressing table with Sophie behind her in a corset and a skirt frame. It would have been hilarious if the woman didn't wield a comb as effectively as Snow ever thought about wielding a weapon.

"Its these damn curls! I've never seen anything so unmanageable in my life. No sooner do I think I have them tamed than ten or twelve escape to curl around your face again." Snow would have chuckled if not for the face Sophie was making. Some part of her was sensible enough to realize that laughing right now wasn't her very best plan.

"Maybe just..Up, would work?" Snow had no idea what vision it was that Soph had in her head, only that she was getting frustrated by Snow's unruly hair. Sophie, for her part, was actually just trying to make Snow feel beautiful in the beginning (the girl needed a little pick me up after all) but her perfectionism had taken over somewhere along the way. She stood away now as Snow looked at the absolute tangled mess which had become her hair. It fell past her rear. She really needed to consider cutting it.

The gleam in Sophie's eye after a moment told Snow she was back to scheming. And sooner rather than later, Snow was fussing again. "Its not like its even going to be that fancy you know. The whole town is invited into...Owowowow..Baskerville Manor." Apparently, Sophie didn't care that the event was a free one, hosted by one of the most prominent businessmen in Poinsettia to give back to the town. She only cared that both she and Snow looked amazing.

As paitent and kind as Sophie had been, Snow was biting her tongue as far as telling her to shove off. She had no intentions whatever of hurting the woman's feelings. But she was herself, and she was getting tired of being primped. It was surprising then, that Sophie finished just before Snow actually managed to lose her temper, smiling at her. "And now the dress..." She held up a ruffled red something or other with more fabric than could be found in most rooms at any given time. "And of course the corset, and the mask. Then I swear we're done."

Snow groaned and submitted to this as well. Soon after she was sitting on the bed, feeling like nothing so much as a person who couldn't breathe. Where the hell did she stick her weapons dressed like this? She would figure it out, she thought with a shudder. Now all they had to do was wait for Sophie to get dressed, and they'd be set for the evening out.

He had loitered long enough counting jewels, he decided finally as he rose and returned his coin pouch to his pocket. He was hardly expecting to be robbed near Poinsettia's front gate, but it paid to be careful and until he could find some more acceptable- and not to mention comfortable- attire. With very little preference for lodgings, he made his decision based on price and after a little investigation, The Lavender Dog proved to be the cheapest whilst also offering a private room.

"Single room please", he said to the twitchy looking owner as he approached the counter. There didn't seem to be anybody else in attendance on the ground floor, but it looked like the owner had somewhere else he'd rather be than behind the counter. "Right... how long will you be staying... sir", the last word left his mouth reluctantly- not that he could be blamed for being critical of his current appearance. "Three nights for now", he replied smoothly and again the man paused hesitantly, his eyes flitting to the stairs once more before sighing. "I'll require the money in advance", he said and looked almost disappointed when the appropriate funds were placed on the counter.

With his room key in hand, the last order of business was a bath and the owner- obviously keen to get rid of his newest customer so he could attend to whatever was going on upstairs- informed him that there was a bathing area for guests on the ground floor through a door to the right of the counter. With nothing to take to his room, the bath was his first port of call and following the owner's instructions brought him to the large bath of magically heated water. Alone- not that he cared much for modesty- he stripped off the rag's he'd forced himself to wear and slid gratefully into the water. This was his first bath in longer than was appropriate to admit and he didn't plan on leaving it any time soon as he stretched out and closed his eyes with a contented sigh.

He wasn't quite sure when he'd dozed off, but when he woke up he felt both extremely clean and also a little dizzy from the prolonged exposure to the hot water. With a throbbing head he dragged himself out of the water, the cool air stinging his sting with its contrast to the hot water he'd been soaking in. Feeling light headed, he approached the pile of filthy rags that had once passed for clothes and he frowned with distaste. Putting them back on would undo any good that the bath had done him and so he took a towel and wrapped it around his waist as he made his way upstairs to his room. He'd do something about clothes later, for now he deserved some rest and relaxation surely...

After what felt like ages, Sophie herself was ready to go, in a long flowing and ethereal number which was her signature shade of purple. Snow had been dressed in something quite different, and the longer she sat and inspected it, the more she disliked how much skin it showed. "Do I at least have some sort of jacket?" Sophie, putting the last pin in her hair, smiled at Snow via the mirror. "No. And you shouldn't want one. You look stunning If R--" Snow squinted at her friend. "If Rachel were here she'd say the same." Snow quirked a dark brow.

"Oh silly me. I forgot to introduce you two back at the guild. Anyway. Point being you're lovely. And It won't hurt you to show off a little of that amazing skin, or those nice curves honey. Now just tie on the mask, and we're ready to go."

Snow stood, aware that there was no one by the name of Rachel in the guild hall, unless she was a ridiculously new recruit. She tied on the mask, noting how it accentuated her strange eyes quite well. She would give Sophie this much; the woman knew what she was doing. Even though the corset Snow current wore was much tighter than what she was used to, and it still showed more skin than she liked. For the bottom of the dress was a long flowing dark red affair. But what should have been the bodice was made of quite a lot of see through fabric, with only a paltry few pieces of dark red cloth covering what would need covering. Even though it had sleeves, and came up to the hollow beneath her throat, it seemed like it was barely there.

Her hair was barely tied up in the end, curls flowing to one side of her shoulder as she looked in the mirror. She made a pretty picture on the outside, she thought with a sigh. If only the inside would right itself enough for her to believe that of it too. "Right. No help for it. Let's go." She wasn't going to argue the point any further. She stuck her weapons, blades only, in various places (we'll let your imagination decide where), and started down the stairs after Sophie, having to be more careful to not trip and die, and soon found that Sophie was standing quite still at the foot of the stair. Snow all but ran into her.

"Sophie. What the fuck? You can't just stop like that what are you--" But she spotted him soon enough. A very nearly naked man holding only a towel around his waiste. His hair was dripping, and he wasn't taking note of either of them as far as Snow could tell. But she blushed to the roots of her hair all the same. It took her a moment, but after a second she realized he looked familiar. When she placed him, her mouth made a little round "o" of surprise.

It was the person she had run into coming through the gates of Poinsettia. So her blush deepened slightly. Toby, standing behind the counter took note of the two women about now. "You both look beautiful ladies." Snow smiled. "Thanks Toby. Do me a favor yeah? Take care of your new guest. I owe him." Toby lifted a bushy eyebrow. "Oh..So you fancy him hmm?"

The smiled turned to a frown. "Don't be ridiculous. I ran him over coming through the gate. I apologized, but it was still rude. And you should know better Toby. Honestly." The barkeep stopped working for a minute, wondering why he should possibly know better. She had spoken of being with someone last time around after all. "He's pretty pretty." Sophie interrupted, and whether the man in question, in all his nearly naked glory, were here to hear any of this or not was anyone's guess. Still, Snow hissed, "Sophie." and grabbed her arm. "We're off Toby. See you tomorrow sometime."

As they went through the door, Sophie could be heard again, "What? He is pretty. I wouldn't kick him out of bed unless he wanted to f-- OUCH. Okay okay! No more innuendo!"

He may not have looked it, but he was rattled as he encountered the pair on the stairs. Oblivious to the reaction he evoked from them, his attention was instead focused on staring at them in turn. They were both beautiful without exception or reserve and he found his fingertips burning with the urge to reach out and touch their perfect looking skin. Though as he reached out to examine this desire in his head he was bombarded with hundreds of voices each offering him a different opinion on the matter and more importantly, the moral dilemma behind it.

Feeling like he'd just received a thunderbolt to the brain he turned the corner of the stairs and staggered, nearly falling if not for his iron grip on the banister. This was the first time he'd experienced such a vehement reaction from his internal guide and he didn't know what had triggered it. But it did remind him that he had no real understanding of the voice that guided him in this world. Gritting his teeth and pushing himself back to his feet, he exhaled deeply and heard a muffled squeak from up ahead.

Raising his head curiously, he first realised that a woman of approximately his age had stepped out from one of the rooms. He then realised that in his moment of confusion he'd let his towel drop to the floor and he now stood tall in all his naked glory. The girl's gaze began at his face and then trailed down, at which point she went beet red and teetered dangerously as though about to pass out before dragging herself back through the door and slamming it behind her. "Some people are so sensitive...", he muttered as he picked up his towel and continued towards his room. The conversation downstairs going unheard thanks to the encounter.

Once inside his room, he finally had to face a rather significant problem. His utter lack of clothing. he couldn't put the stuff he'd been wearing on, but he had nothing to replace them either. He was going to have to go out to buy them, but he'd have to do so wrapped in a towel and something told him that would make matters... difficult to say the least. Something about public decency and possible arrest according to his mental guide. At that moment, there was a sharp knock on the door and a moment later the owner of the inn came in with a bundle under his arm.

"You scrub up pretty well...", Toby said with open admiration and for a moment he felt incredibly uncomfortable dressed in only a towel as Toby's slightly too appreciative gaze swept over him before he cleared his throat and held out the bundle. "One of my most valued customers asked me to look out for you and it seemed to me that these might be useful". He tossed the bundle to him and a quick look inside revealed it to be exactly what he needed. Clothes.

"Does that woman give charity to every poor soul she takes pity on?" He asked as he placed the bundle on the bed beside him. "Lady Snow is both kind and compassionate, you would do well to thank her", Toby replied a little tersely at this man's apparent lack of what he felt to be appropriate gratitude. "Well I would, but judging on the way she was dressed I very much doubt I'll be running into her on the street any time soon", he chuckled with a slow shake of his head. But now it was Toby's turn to have the last word. "Ordinarily you'd be right, but everyone is invited to that particular event... even wandering vagabonds such as yourself. So you had best get dressed and be on your way so you can show Lady Snow the gratitude she deserves".

With that said and one last incredibly unwarranted look at his naked torso Toby left him to unpack the clothes and realise that they weren't just any clothes. These were fancy people clothes. Though he had no obligation to thank a woman who had shown him charity out of pity, it did sound like a place where he could have some fun and pity could take form in the most unexpected and intimate of ways.

Sophie had to readjust her hair after Snow's well placed slap to the back of her head. "I was only having a little fun." Snow, still beet red from the tops of her feet to the roots of her hair snapped back. "Well could you please have that sort of fun when I'm not standing right beside you?" Most people would have been miffed. Not Sophie. "Oh honey...If I were having that sort of fun and you were in the room...I doubt you'd be complaining." Snow might have died as Sophie dropped her voice to a low purr at the end of this, and then snapped her fan open, covering the lower half of her face. "Come on then. We can fantasize later." she said with a chuckle at her friend's expense.

Snow wasn't sure if she was joking or not at this point, and she ended up scuttling after her, holding up the hem of the gown she wore and trying hard to cool her face. It wouldn't be a good thing to walk in blushing as deep a shade of red as her gown probably. She managed to put on a face of utter nonchalance as she entered the line for the party. It moved quickly enough, seeing as how this was an event open to all. There was still a knight at the doorway, holding a piece of paper in his hands. "Name?" He said with nonchalance as the two women approached. Sophie whispered her's in his ear, and the man smiled, checking her off the list. "Name?"

"Snow White." He nodded once and she moved through the doorway after Sophie. There was a large wooden door which stood open, and then a foyer which forced people to trickle in, rather than just run amuck and mod the place. When the next door was opened, a swell of music filled the night and then Snow's ears in short order. A band playing classical music, so that people could do the more traditional dances.

The ballroom itself was huge, enough to hold more than the population of Poinsettia and Magnolia put together Snow thought. Beyond this there were other rooms; a dining area, a bar, a gaming room which boasted a tiny bit of gambling for anyone interested in pool or poker. It was beautiful, she would give them that. Chandeliers hung high above, and a few people were shown to galleries to watch the show below if they wished. These were for invited guests only, like Sophie and herself, or the host. Snow sighed. "We're supposed to police this whole thing? Just us two?"

Sophie slapped Snow on the wrist with her fan. "Stop looking gloomy, you'll attract the wrong sort of attention. And I really should have called that escort service, gotten us some dates. We will stick out a bit I'm afraid. Now smile. And try to blend in." Snow was trying to process all of Sophie's quick rant.

Snow did as she was told, for once, rubbing her now sore wrist. She ended up making herself into a wall flower, as she knew her propensity for dancing was terrible. A snippet of memory, in which she danced at her initiation to GH flitted through her mind, but it was breif, and fleeting; gone as soon as it came almost. She sighed and leaned against the guilded wall, taking a drink from a passing trey.

"This..Is going to be such a long night." Sophie was already whirling across the dance floor with several of the gentlemen, but Snow declined each one. She couldn't dance, she said firmly, and then proceeded to work on getting drunk.

It took him rather a while longer than he'd first thought to get the clothes on. Or more accurately, to get them on the way they were meant to go on. The various buttons and ties that the designer seemed to have gone to great pains to include in what he was positive was an otherwise straightforward outfit had him scratching his head more than once before he finally stoof fully dressed before the mirror and, he had to say, he looked like an entirely different person to when he'd last glimpsed his reflection. It was like being a completely different person and that in itself opened up a world of possibilities.

Heading downstairs, he passed more than one guest and whereas before he'd passed invisibly beneath their notice in his torn rags, now he felt like he had a spotlight trained on him and nobody failed to notice him as he headed for the door. "Ah, just a moment", Toby called after him and he turned with q quizzical expression as a mask was thrust into his hands. "It's a masquerade ball, which means you have to wear that the whole time", he explained upon seeing his puzzled look. "At these kinds of events people tend to be a bit more... risque than usual thanks to the anonymity they provide", he added with a wink before ushering him to continue on his way.

He wasn't sure he understood why someone would do something they wouldn't normally just because nobody knew it was them, but then again there was a lot of things he didn't yet understand so he just added it to the ever growing list as he made his way to the mansion. It wasn't difficult to find thanks to the fact that he wasn't the only person on the street adorned with a ridiculous mask, but also that the enormous venue was lit up like a christmas tree as it loomed high over its neighbors. A mansion indeed.

"Name?" He was asked by the doorman upon reaching the door. An unusually difficult question to answer and one he hadn't spent a great deal of time pondering over the past 24 hours as he'd been preoccupied with other things. Though he recalled Toby saying that the entire town had been invited to this thing, so it wasn't like he had to guess the name of someone on a list. "Trevor", he said after a momentary pause and he was admitted to the building without fuss.

He'd thought that his outfit was a little much when he'd first put it on, but once he found his way to the main ballroom he quickly revised this way of thinking. He was on the conservative side compared to some of the ridiculously extravagant costumes that filled the room worn by both genders. Hundreds of people occupied the lower floor, while hundreds more occupied the three tiers of internal balconies that looked down upon the enormous dance floor. All thoughts of finding two women amongst this throng immediately fled his mind as he descended the stairs amidst a steady stream of other new arrivals to join the mass of dancers.

As he navigated his way between dancing pairs, he wondered if he knew how to dance. He'd discovered that he possessed several other mundane skills over the past few weeks and he wondered if this would be one of them. As it happened, it wasn't long before the chance to find out came his way as a woman in a vivid yellow dress adorned with silver trim propositioned him and, not being one to shy away from new experiences, he acceded to the request and approximately thirty seconds later, he knew without a doubt that not only could he dance, but found he rather enjoyed it.
