Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Ask away; I have all the answers.

A jackalope is a mystical animal the size of a rabbit and not something Ryan would usually be hunting. The hunter was more into big game such as a moose, bear, and even a whale. Maybe if the jackalope was the size of a bear he would be more excited, but it was a normal rabbit with horns and unique magical properties. But the bounty for it was well into the digits that could help him pay for better equipment, and he thought it would be good to get back into actual hunting rather than shooting guns at targets and people.

With his camouflage clothes and rifle slung over his back ready to go, Ryan felt a wave of nostalgia from stepping into the forest with the set up. Being in the environment was nothing new but there was a different atmosphere with his set up. It reminded him of home; every snap of twigs under his boots, the way his pants blended with the ground when he looked down, and the weight of his rifle felt more familiar than ever. The only thing he needed to top it all off was a kill. Not a human kill--he had no desire taking one of mankind today--but a furry kill. And if he recalled, the poster didn't care if the jackalope was dead or alive.

The hunter moved deeper into the forest where the special carrots grew in pairs spread through an area. It and the animal were exceptionally rare, but while the jackalope had useful factors other than for meat and fur, the carrots was only special because it was only tangible to jackalopes. Literally made for it.

Once Ryan had found the carrots by stepping on them to see if his foot would go through, he set three traps around the perimeter and took his spot behind two brushes and under a tree 40 meters away to avoid his scent from being carried. He laid on his stomach with his rifle propped up in front of him, butt-plate in his shoulder and barrel in hand, he looked through the scope and waited for his treasure to appear. When that was going to be was anyone's guess, and for all he knew he could be there for hours. If the jackalope didn't show up it was just bad luck, but the satisfaction of killing and claiming the prize was beyond anything he's ever felt.

Hunting. This at least was still something which Snow excelled at. She had found the bounty poster for the Jackalope in the Guild hall, but this hunt wasn't for the guild. Nor was it for the pricetag, which, while nice, held 0 appeal for her. She had S rank blades. And the cash to upgrade the rest of her weaponry within the guild without issue. This was just for the sake of leaving the guild for a while, and doing something she recalled being stellar at.

Her recent bout of memory lost left her with more than one issue with being at the Guild Hall. Most of them being an uncomfortable feeling of deja vu, or people asking questions for which she had no answers. Like they didn't understand what the hell the word "amnesia" meant. Good grief. So it was with relief that she set foot under the first set of towering lavender shaded boughs, and let the sounds of the forest fill her ears. It was, she knew, just as easy to hunt in her other form, and she might consider that later. But for now, she had to get into the right place in the forest.

She wasn't dressed in camouflage, but she blended in all the same. Nothing magical about the skill, just a knack for moving silently, and for staying hidden. She was, after all, part predator herself. It made things easier, in a sense. Her ears were pricked for any sounds of activity in the wood other than her own. As well, the scents of the forest filled her over-sensitive nose. Her bow was in her hands, the white one, as she moved forward. It would, normally, make for one hell of a distraction, a pearlescent bow. But she was practiced with making it blend all the same.

A certain patch of ground. A certain place where carrots, which were apparently the extra-special-mythical-feed of the jackalope, grew. It was a longish way into the woods, but she didn't mind. This at least, didn't make her feel sick or dizzy. It was the essence of who she was, and so was easy for her. She stopped, about a meter away from the patch. Not because she had spied it, but because there was a familiar scent on the air. She drew the string back on her bow, an arrow knocked. It was easy enough to pinpoint where the smell was coming from, on a day like this. There was no wind. Only the soft scent on the air.

She let fly without a second thought, and heard a satisfying "thunk" as the arrow met the wood of one of the lavender trees. Of course, just a little to the left, would be Ryan. She only halfway hoped she hadn't grazed him.

"God damn it," Ryan breathed under his breath, but didn't dare to look up just yet. The one day a year he thought he'd get some peace and quiet to himself, someone decides to shoot an arrow at him. He was just laying in the ground, minding his own business, completely void of any thought and the next thing he head was a thunk above his head. He should be lucky that the person couldn't aim for her life but he was more annoyed that his time with nature had been interrupted. But maybe, if he stayed still and quiet, the person would think it was a false alarm and be on her merry way.

It didn't happen. He heard footsteps quietly coming over to his spot, too quiet for any untrained ear. Whoever it was was good at unheard movement because what sounded like should be twenty meters away was actually one and looming over him. Now the plan was to simply ignore the person until she left but after minutes of waiting, it didn't seem like she would budge. The hunter let out an exasperated sigh and broke his perfect position to turn his head and look up. He saw the white arrow in his peripheral vision and a familiar pasty-white face with jet black hair that flowed past her overly large breasts.

He broke into a lopsided smile. Ryan remembered the woman in front of him well; the first one to make him lose his cool. It had been months since he last saw her and thought they'd never meet again, because really, he did not want to see her. Snow was the one thing he could not lay his hands on because killing her would mean getting killed by her over-powered boyfriend that is Ranth. To say he valued the thrill of a good hunt and torture over his life would be a huge lie.

Something seemed off about her, she didn't feel like the same person he met before. The way her eyes looked at him wasn't welcoming (not like it should be, but still.) Her aura wasn't as threatening or 'nice' as before. It felt like they were two stranger who accidentally bumped into each other. Maybe she forgot about him? It had been months after all, but he doubted as anyone would remember him after a day they had together. And of course anyone would remember the face and name of whoever shot them in the shoulder.

"Pocahontas, what a pleasant surprise," Ryan flashed a meaningless grin before he stood up and and met her in face-to-face. He slung his rifle over his shoulder and pulled out the arrow from the tree and handed it back to her. There was no point in agitating her now, though his mere actions could've annoyed her already. "Didn't think we'd meet so... ever again actually. Now, what the hell do you want?" his facade fell and a serious look loomed over his face. "You're pretty far from home, though I guess that would depend on what you consider home to be. Did you break up with your boyfriend or something? Sorry to inform you but I'm not interested."

Snow had moved around quietly and removed her arrow from the tree trunk, while Ryan tried to play dead. She knew him, remembered getting shot in the shoulder by him, and most of their excursions that day. Somehow her memory of what started the encounter was hazy. She gave a dry laugh as he called her Pocahontas. "All that fuss for a name and you can't even remember what it was?" He was right in her face, and instinct said to step away, even out of politeness would be to back down and lose an invisible challenge.

She took the proffered arrow, having been more or less shoved out of the way when Ryan stood. She put it back against the bow string, and sighed at his idiocy. A dark brow arched in both disdain and annoyance. No anger. She didn't have a direct feeling about him. It wasn't hate, it certainly wasn't like, it was closer to sheer apathy since their last meeting.

Of course things had changed in ways even she didn't understand since then. "I am hunting. Nothing more, nothing less. If you intend to do the same, which your gear says you do, then you will need to mask your scent a bit better." She almost ignored the snide comment about a boyfriend and him not being interested. Almost.

She had already turned away from him, intent on breaking the little stand off and going about her business. But of course, this was old Snow. And it just caught her wrong. "I'm so sorry. You're not my type. Not even were I desperate, which I'm not." There was a clear sort of confusion in her eyes for a split second when had asked if she broke up with her boyfriend. She couldn't even remember having one, or what made this individual think she might have one.

A sharp pain in her head told her she needed to not think on it too hard. So she merely turned on her heel after the little verbal jab, intending to walk away. It was at that moment however that their prey came into sight. And she raised her bow, eye trained on the mark.

"I apologize for being a foreigner and not living like a savage when I was younger. The culture in Perigrande is quite different than of Fiore," Ryan rolled his eyes at the Snow he knew and disliked. Maybe he was just sensing things, everything seemed fine now. The huntress was taking his talk like a pro and even throwing her own jabs with it, but there was still something that needed to be addressed. “And I’m sure that I didn’t ask you out so an apology not needed, it makes my stomach heave. That aside, you avoided my second question. Don’t tell me you two actually broke up! Such a tragedy!” he feigned empathy.

Before the hunter could get his answer, a rustle from a bush put him into action. The disgust and disdain was already gone as his mind focused purely on his prey. Rifle already in hand and sights aligned not a millimeter off, he was waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The jackalope was so still and unaware of their presence that it was the definition of a sitting duck.

But all that didn’t matter when a bird flew in to swoop for the kill, or tried to at least. All three predators missed their target at once when the jackalope side-hopped and tumbled away. The firearm and arrow blasted the eagle instead, killing it instantly. “Well that sucks doesn’t it?” Ryan said but not to anyone in particular. And just when he thought it could not get any worse, he felt one of his traps go off and saw that it penetrated a fox who was chasing after the jackalope after it escaped; it had just beaten four hunters in less than a minute. Ryan didn’t know what to think.

“I’m going somewhere else,” he announced suddenly. There was no point in staying in the area anymore since instinct would stop it from coming back to where it almost died four times. “Don’t go anywhere near that mulberry bush or that rock over there,” he snapped and pointed to where he had set up his other traps. It wasn’t to warn Snow of danger but to prevent her from accidentally setting them off for no reason. He didn’t care if nothing happened, but if they did activate, he expected something in there for him at the end of the day. Like the fox that he grabbed on his way so he could use the pelt for mittens or something.

Snow tried hard to hide her annoyance as her shot and Ryan's shot both missed the mark. She thought about using some colorful language, but she didn't see much point in it. She didn't actually see much point in being in the same damn forest with him actually. He wasn't her favorite person after all. "I never dated anyone to start with, by the fucking way." She said irritably. She was so over this already. He was acting like a brat and saying nonsense.

She started to walk away, still listening to his advice about avoiding the those two specific areas. Knowing him they were booby trapped. She moved in the opposite direction, not looking at him anymore. Their prey...No. Her prey, had gotten away. But it was only a momentary thing. She could track like nobody's business after all. And as a plus side of the thing having come to the clearing, she now had its scent. She could use eyes and ears and nose to find what she sought.

She moved quietly as always, the drama with Ryan now a momentary thing which was falling away as she tread pathd she had worn here. These were woods she was familiar with after all, and she was always happiest when she was hunting. Here the things she dealt with, guild business, her sudden headaches and nausea, they fell away. She was silent as she moved, stopping here and there to scent the air. She wanted to find the jackalope first.

Especially now. Even though the drama had fallen away behind her, as she put steps between herself and Ryan, she couldn't help thinking how nice it would be to steal his kill.

"Woah, woah, wooooaahhhhh," Ryan grabbed Snow's chin and forced her head left and right as he took a good look at her. From their last (and first) encounter, he could tell that she was madly in love with him, and even if it was an obsession, there was no way Snow wouldn't know who's he talking about without showing some sort of sign. He was looking for distant eyes that were remembering the past, furrowed eyebrows for the pain of rejection, but he found neither of that. "I knew there was something wrong... perhaps amnesia?" he murmured before releasing his grip on the girl. The fact that she had no idea who he was talking meant that Ranth didn't try to help regain her memories. Perhaps he was too hurt about the fact that his girlfriend forgot about him or maybe he doesn't know about it. Or maybe he doesn't know about her. "Interesting..."

He headed in the direction the jackalope bounced in, treading lightly and keeping downwind. The trodden grass and ripples of dirt on leaf-covered grounds told him where to find his prey. With an opponent now present, he needs to find the rodent fast, especially knowing that the girl had a good sense of smell and was a natural hunter like himself. Plus, the look on her face when he turns in the game for money would be hilarious. He could imagine the disbelief of losing to talkative, flashy guy like him. It'd be so good. It good to win, but it's always better to brag about winning.

It didn't take long before he found his prey, as expected. Ryan didn't move an inch closer from where he was crouching and slowly brought his rifle to his shoulder. His position was terrible: he right leg wasn't perpendicular to the ground, he was resting his weight on his left toes with his knee pointing straight instead of too the side, and in general he was in a position to shoot left-handed when he was a right-hander. But it didn't matter, not to the hunter anyway, he was too experienced to be held back by being out of position. Of course it was better but sometimes it was impossible and he wasn't going to let not knowing how to shoot in different ways be a liability. Had it been anyone else he or she would've fell or been unable to shoot a target a foot in front of them.

Deja vu. Something appeared faster than Ryan could shoot and tried its luck at dinner but the rustling from its entrance alerted the jackalope and it fled, again. One of Ryan's eye involuntarily twitched as saw another fox in front of him. The hunter sighed in frustration and moved on.

On the opposite side of the wood, Snow wondered about Ryan's strabge behavior. His hand on her chin had been repulsive. She knew what he was after all. But his singular word after that... it implied he knew more than she did. Which was annoying. She disliked him heartily. And she had little intention of asking him about it. Like hell she'd tell him he had information she didn't have. That'd be the epitome of stupid in her humble opinion. And probably moreso in the opinion of her ... enemy? She thought the word with a laugh. She hadn't had one of those before.

She still moved with the usual stillness that was all her own. Bow at the ready, and aimed at the ground for now. It was with no small amount of surprise that she heard cursing..Not too terribly far off in the dense woodland. She smirked to herself. So the prey was getting away? The smirk faded as she realized that meant he'd been within shooting distance again. Well, time to get her head in the game she supposed.

Snow moved as quickly as she could, while maintaining silence, toward where the sound of dissent had come from. She was just in time to see the jackalope's rear disappearing into the grass. She hadn't realized how in demand her prey was until right now. What an annoyance. As if she needed more of those in these woods. She sighed, then began scenting the air again. If this kept up, the Jackalope would be entirely too skittish for her to hunt it at all.

Until then, she would have to keep at the hunt. And it wasn't as though she could kill every predator that came along. Worse, without either of them knowing, something even bigger was stalking their small rare prey. And by that virtue, the hunters themselves.

With two misses, there were five shots left in Piercer. On a regular day a decade ago, Ryan would’ve been furious out of his mind, but due to the seldom chances he gets to hunt, he’s excited beyond recognition. The annoyance and frustration of missing because the prey dodged the bullet by sheer luck was nostalgic and pumping adrenaline through his veins. His fingers twitched in anticipation for the next shot and his lop-sided, cocky smile shone in the woods. His body was ready and itching to go more than ever.

The path led him deeper into the woods and to a certain point where the trail stopped cold. Ryan frowned. There were signs that showed a bird of prey swooping in or a tussle with a fox. The hunter scoured the ground and parted bushes to find a hole in the ground. Then he noticed the presence of another person. “Too late. Gone in. Unless you can smell hiding somewhere else?” he faced Snow and pointed to the hole. “Pretty uneventful isn’t it?”

There was nothing to do except to wait for the jackalope to pop back out or look for another one. The hunter chose the former and jumped onto a tree to wait. From his position he could see the clear sky and further into the dense forest. Not far from the rabbit hole was a large paw-print fresh in dirt. There were a few more further ahead and behind them like whatever it was that made the prints had walked to this location, circled around the area, and left. “Do you smell anything weird..?” he called to the huntress as he swung down the branch and took a closer look at his discovery.

The print was the size of two of his hands combined and a bit more which made for one hell of an animal. More specifically, the animal was a bear twice the size of a normal one. It was wonder how he didn’t notice something as big as a bear waltzing by the forest, but that was the least of his concerns right now since there was a giant bear hunting what they’re hunting and might even hunt them for brownie points. “As much as I dislike you, or your gender in general I guess, I think we should stick… close,” Ryan shudder but the two of them would be safer near each other.
