The first step into the city was one of the better steps she had taken in recent memory. A step forward into Olympus, a trudge into reefs Atlantean, or a pensive ascent into Heaven, it would seem. This city was gilded with immense fortune, and blessed equally well - the city was in a state of utter splendour, having just celebrated a milestone in the city's history. The fireworks in the background contrasted with the featureless silhouettes against the sunset sky, and as the faint glows of the night started their dance in the air around the outer reaches of the city so did a sprightly young figure along the waterways of the city. A wondrous twinkle in her eyes - barely even doing justice to just how enraptured she was by the sights all around her, her fascination captured in such non-magical magic. As the festivities carried on downtown, the sounds of the celebration had finally made their way over to where the golden-haired young girl was - the cold night winds of the Poinsettia night distracting her mildly from the epiphany of nature while gazing down on the waterways and seeing only herself and the twilight skies above. The neglected academic had considered "calling it quits" once or twice in waterways like those before - yet as she saw the beauty of staying on to explore everything around her she could have credited the random passer-by on the street with saving her life as they simply enhanced the beauty of her life at present. The beauty of life was what she lived for at this moment. The simple desire to enjoy the wonder of living for every living moment saved her from the doldrums of stellar mediocrity, what with the lesser respect towards the magically less-gifted. Yet the Napoleon complex was nowhere to be found in her; plain positivity was all that was left in her. So this was the magic of Poinsettia - there may not be anything of Poinsettia innately magical but simply the allure and the miracle of life in such a beautiful city. Funnily, as dusk fell on the city, Sarah grew to be more alive than ever, as the vibrant nightlife started to kick into gear. She wasn't necessarily a party monster, but she was a spirit of the night. And she would live it to her fullest in her expedition of discovery. |

It was night time or rather early evening in the city of Poinsettia. This was Ashia's first visit to the city, she'd usually stick around Magnolia for the most part. The city was amazing to say the least, the architecture was stunning and there appeared to be some sort of festival going on or perhaps this was the usual nightlife. Ash wasn't sure. Fireworks hit the sky as it darkened, people laughed and cheered in the street as they went about going to various market stalls that had been set up for the occassion. The brunette simply wandered about and looked, intrigued by the whole thing having never been to such a festival in her life. It was new and exciting. As the sunset became night, things only seemed to liven up even more. Music began to play from some performers, more fireworks lit the sky and more people seemed to appear from almost nowhere. She laughed gently and kept moving down the street, stopping at one vendor who was selling various shishkebabs, Ashia selecting a barbeque beef one before paying and carrying on her way. Idly taking small bites of the snack as she looked about. People dressed in a variety of clothes, some casual, some formal and others more festival like, it was a sea of colours and people and everyone was happy. It brought a slight tear to Ashia's eye, she was unsure why though. Perhaps it was this sense of feeling, this atmosphere that had long been gone in her life. Smiling happily she kept walking, unaware that she had just stepped into someone. It was another girl, long blonde hair and lithe figure, similar to Ash's in a way. She also had a nice rear. Wait, what? Ashia blushed for a moment at the thought then immediatley picked her eyes up from the woman's rear and to the woman's face. "Oh sorry about that, I wasn't paying attention. So much to see, I wish I had another set of eyes." She chuckled nervously, apologising for bumping into her and hopefully the woman didn't realise that Ashia had unintentionally been checking her out. Edited by Snow, Sep 23 2015, 08:46 AM.

Considering Sarah herself was quite the lightweight (well, not really, but whatever) figure and probably didn't have enough mass in her to not fall down if she were hit with a sufficient force, she was already considered quite lucky that she barely managed to recover from it and staggered back before she ended up stumbling into the river not too far away from where she was walking. Perhaps it was because the added vigour the night seemed to give her - maybe an enthusiasm to participate in the festivities, a sugar rush, or the hot daytime had simply brought Sarah relative lethargy. Perhaps it was a mix of all three, considering she didn't exactly take to heat well either. But despite all the vigour and all the buzz, bumping into someone unknowingly and getting most of the recoil kills moods fairly effectively. The sudden impact jarred Sarah a little, but she wasn't dead yet so that was a plus. Another plus was that the someone she bumped into wasn't like some high-ranking person or snobby higher-class person much like her experiences back in Crocus, but simply someone who looked kinda like her. Probably a darker shade of hair, but for all intents and purposes about her size. Maybe about an inch or so shorter, but Sarah wouldn't have had a good read in the dark. Nevertheless, she realised she was being apologised to, and could only stammer out a reply. "N-no worries, it's fine, no worries," she said as she readjusted her clothes, "It's lovely out. The rings are done, the bouquets should be up next." At this point, anyone who eavesdropped on the conversation would have thought it were something about marriage proposals. Funny thing about firework routine choreography is that dropping in on such a conversation at any time would indeed sound like a marriage proposal. A lesbian one at that, which might be juicy but was not at all on the agenda for that night. "Easy to notice you're distracted. And it's not so enjoyable alone - if you want, we can enjoy it together. There's also a nice open-air bistro still open which I just passed by a while back and is another good place to watch the 'works if you want to head over there." Which would be a good idea, considering they'd have a better view of the crossettes after the bouquets, following which would be the chrysanthemums. One of the perks of being an academic, supposedly - being able to name and describe the fireworks to another curious reveller. |

Ashia blushed a bit as the woman turned around somehow expecting her to start shouting or whatever but the brunette was wrong. The blonde was pretty and Ashia felt like checking out her rear wasn't such a bad thing after all. The woman replied gently and Ash smiled as she nodded in agreement as to being distracted before looking at the woman a little stunned by her offer to enjoying the festivities together. It would be nice to enjoy it with someone, make a new friend as well considering Ashia had no friends really, save a few friendly people back in Magnolia. "Sure, sounds lovely. Maybe you can keep me from getting distracted." The brunette chuckled and adjusted herself before walking to stand next to the woman, whilst Ashia finished off her shishkebab before she found a bin to put the stick in. "My name's Ashia by the way, you can just call me Ash for short if you wish. What's your name?" Ash soon asked the blonde with a friendly smile, "Do you know much about this festival? I'm not really from around here, I live and stay in Magnolia pretty much so I don't go to other cities that often." She then asked, wondering if this mystery woman knew anything about the festival. The blonde seemed rather energetic and care free which was nice to see for a change. Ash saw many happy people but to see someone such as the woman before her that seemed to get lost in the festival in a metaphorical sense was pleasing to see and oddly relaxing, something Ashia hadn't seen or felt in a long time. |

"Sarah. Nice to meet you." "It's the Scarlet Reverie," the blonde girl stated barely loudly enough to be heard within earshot by the other girl - Ashia, her name would seem to be - while they walked casually down the road towards the bistro. Sarah's own steps along the waterway with the gentle sloshing of water on the banks combined with the explosions in the sky into a cacophony of contrast between the euphoria of festivity and the water's calm. "A three-day festival to celebrate the anniversary of the city's founding. Also happens to be this city's urban planner's birthday, funnily enough. It was as if that guy was born to build the city. During these three days there'll be a lot of eating, drinking, partying and simply being merry. Light shows all around the center square, and there's one on the Trillium City Museum. It's named the Scarlet Reverie because of why the city named itself Poinsettia, while a reverie is simply a daydream." "I'm from the capital. Born and raised, never been here before. Just happened to know these things." Sarah shrugged, as the bistro appeared in the distance, a fairly happening yet somewhat quaint outlet. Unoccupied tables lined the banks of the waterway, all of which having a small candle lit because the bistro was really all up in that "atmosphere" thing. The seats indoors were pretty much all taken by the other diners, who preferred to avoid the bracing chill of the nighttime breeze, creating another cacophony, this time not an entirely welcome one. The sky was lit up red another time as a very big yet perfectly coordinated bouquet burst into colour - brightening up the night sky a little bit more than with just the street lamps alone, causing Sarah to be able to read the menu conveniently without strain. Her choice would be a Beef Bourguignon, plain and simple. Edited by Frost, Sep 26 2015, 05:53 PM.

The girl's name was Sarah as she started with an introduction before explaining that the festival was the Scarlet Reverie. Ashia followed next to the blonde as they made their way slowly towards the bistro that Sarah spoke of. The festival lasted three days it seemed and was based around the planner's birthday, though it seemed the blonde wasn't sure if that was coincidental or not. It seemed likely but it could also be in honour of his birthday, perhaps a bit of both. Smiling and nodding as she went, Ashia kept an eye out around herself at the festivities as Sarah kept talking, the brunette keeping her attention on the blonde of course so she could listen. Whilst the reason for the festival may be a little confusing the name was due to the why the city is named Poinsettia. Sarah was from the capital and was similar to Ash in that she had just visited today as well. The bistro appeared in view as they got closer, tables lined outside in candle lit lighting and increasing the atmosphere. It looked like a lovely place, even if it seemed romantic to some which Ashia wouldn't be surprised if that's why people were eating inside. That and the fact there was a bit of a chill outside. Ashia acquired a menu and began to scan it, deciding on what to eat. The chicken parmigiana sounded nice and so she had decided on having that. It appeared as though they had little choice on where to sit seeing as how inside was all taken, Ashia soon took a table near the door so they'd get some warmth from inside to help counter-act the chill. "This table seems as good as any other." Ashia commented as she sat down, a waiter having noticed them had began to make his way out to them. "You seem pretty knowledgeable about this place, anything else that'd be interesting to see? Since the festival goes on for three days I think I'll stay a bit longer, I'd have to find an inn though which I'm guessing shouldn't be too hard." |

"To be very honest? I'm just here for the shopping. Crocus gets boring after a while. Sightseeing, perhaps. Also trekking in the Forest. But Emerald Boulevard is the most bustling shopping district amongst the numerous shopping districts here, and Lavender Street, near the outskirts of the city, is lined with numerous parks with ancient trees dating back to time immemorial. For the beautiful buildings you'll want to head downtown, around the general area of Amethyst Avenue and Topaz Street." It was already remarkable enough that she managed to spew out that much of her research of the city within two breaths, but even more remarkable that she actually managed to not screw up the street names this time. "Ah, yes, a portion of bœuf bourguignon, s'il vous plaît," Sarah turned around to address the waiter and blurted. It would seem to her that the evident high-brow bistro speak had not evaded her own vocabulary and she pretty much couldn't help it at all. With a polite nod and a slight bow out of the vicinity of their table, the waiter scooted off to the kitchen to bark their orders over yet another unwelcome cacophony. This day was a day of cacophonies, almost all of them happening at around the same time. It was a cacophony of cacophonies. "Hotel and inn belt's just down the road from Emerald. Most of the tourist accommodations in Poinsettia are hotels anyway, not really inns considering how densely packed this city is. Anyway they're higher up in elevation compared to most of the city so you'll have a really good view of the cityscape below. I'll have to find accommodation too, but we can both get set up in a nice enough place along Emerald Boulevard later." At the same time, incandescent white crossettes lit up the night sky. Whilst listening to Sarah speak, Ashia had another quick glance over the menu to make sure she hadn't missed anything. Sarah went on to explain some sights of Poinsettia or rather the shopping district and then a park area, she sure knew her stuff. With a smile, Ash closed the menu and watched as the waiter came over, Sarah ordered for herself before the waiter turned to Ash, "I'll have a chicken parmigiana, thank you." She said softly with a smile before the waiter gave a slight bow and moved off to return to the kitchen and deliver their order. Different sounds filled the air of people talking, a soft musical background most likely projected from the restaurant's speakers mixed with the sound of fireworks. Sarah then began about hotels and inn's though it seemed there were no inn's and just hotels, which Ashia nodded as in a city like this it seemed a bit pointless to have small inns. Nodding softly, she was a bit surprised to hear that Sarah suggested to both get set up in a nice hotel. Perhaps Ashia had misinterrpreted, was she suggesting sharing a room? Ash had no problem with that if that were the case, it would also save them some money as well. A slight blush came over her, she wasn't sure why though and it soon faded. Nodding, "Sounds like a plan, would you want to share a room together? I bet it'll save us a fair bit of money considering this place looks to be expensive for hotels." Ashia then asked or suggested incase Sarah hadn't actually meant that earlier. The fireworks continued and nearby civillians walked past, some took a glance at the restaurant though most, if not all, walked away after deciding not wanting to sit outside. To be fair, the chill wasn't that bad or perhaps that's because Ashia and Sarah had grabbed one of the few tables near the entrance to the actual restaurant. "So what is it that you do?" Ashia soon inquired, wondering whether Sarah had a job or studied, maybe she was even a mage and in a guild. Who knew? |

It's probably some talent of Sarah coming into play when she says the most innocent things and they end up being able to be twisted into the most suggestive of things - the evident hints of lesbianism were, obviously, rife amongst the others in the know, although the incredibly innocent intentions of Sarah were simply to suggest that the both of them find a hotel to get one room per person. Sarah was nerdy and unknowingly anti-social in that sense. Of course, if she wasn't already, by rattling off every single damn detail of Poinsettia for the casual visitor like she was a local - which she wasn't. But as Ashia caught on to the unknowing hint by Sarah her suggestion would also be met with a blush on Sarah's side. This time, even longer and more apparent for Sarah than Ashia. Well then. She definitely was oblivious when she herself said it, but Ashia saying it made it all obvious to her. "U-uh, o-okay then," while still having that little redness on her cheeks. "Since we're sharing I-I guess we could get a room over in the Scarlet," Sarah suggested. "Tallest hotel in the city at a high elevation, you literally get uninterrupted view." And about the query of Sarah's own occupation, Sarah was brought back to reality. This was something that she really had trouble with and struggled to really come up with a definitive answer. Was she a scholar, was she an academic? Or was she a mage? And if she was a mage, what kind of mage was she that she could only do things everyone else, even a child, could? Was she an academic, was she a mage, or was she an embarrassment? "I'm an academic," Sarah decided upon an answer for now. "Study of the mechanics of magic. I guess it could be considered my job? Although it's more a occupation of studying arcane literature than anything else." "Granted, being in the Archives so often and for so long I've picked up quite a bit of knowledge of other stuff. Hence why I know quite a bit about the world, I guess." |

Ashia caught Sarah blushing, her face had reddened for longer and more brighter. Ash smiled softly and let out a small giggle before nodding gently as Sarah began to speak, "The Scarlet? Hmm, a view would be good. Sounds like a plan." She replied before watching as the blonde seemed almost confused or troubled when Ash had asked what she did. Sarah spoke saying she was an academic and she studied magic and stuck to the Archives it seemed, whatever that was. Smiling, her head turned slightly as she saw the waiter walking over to them with two plates in his hands before he got to their table and stopped, smiling at them both and placing their meals down on the table in front of them both. Ashia smiled and nodded to the waiter who may have taken it the wrong way as he seemed a bit startled and blushed before smirking back. He could try and make a move, but he'd soon find himself in pain. Although Ashia had no interest in ruining this meal or Sarah's opinion of her, she wanted to remain normal. The waiter regained his composure and walked off, only to return with a jug of water and filled the two empty glasses on the tabe with the complimentary water before he scooted back off. "Nothing wrong with being an academic or scholar, perhaps it's just an easier life." Ashia commented as she picked up her knife and fork and cut a piece of her parmigiana and ate it. Swallowing and taking a sipping some water. "You know a lot more than me, I hardly know this land. I just hear names of cities or places but have no idea what they're like or where they are." The brunette added with a smile before taking another bite. "Plus, the world needs scholars. Without them, we wouldn't know the history of many things or have any way to teach or perhaps know the difference from left and right." |
