The stores were stocked on candy, and decorations were already well going up as the days became shorter and shorter. It was that time of year again! Black cats and bats on the windows, fake cobwebs, jack-o-lanterns and skeletons! It was Halloween time! It was both Syeena's and Hex's favorite time of the year. As a witch, and her black cat familiar-- technically Exceed cat, the two loved Halloween! Both of them were in the city of Poinsettia, the entire city one massive natural forest with the buildings and trees all as one. The leaves were now a blend of lavander, orange, and brown. THe show that fall was here. As Syeena in her civilian form-- dressed in jeans, a vest, long sleeves and unflattering glasses, carried a large bag of supplies she bought for a party she wanted to host. Beside her, Hex was fluttering in the air, witch's hat on and all as her wings flapped happily. "YAY! Finally! It's Halloweeeeeen!" the cat meowed as she made a flip in the air. "I been waiting months for this! " Syeena chuckled as she walked down the street, heading towards the Black Cat Lounge, a hangout for neutral and dark mages that were located in random places. Syeena's friend owned the place. . "Don't get your fur out of shape, Hex. It's still over a month away. We got time, but no one said we can't celebrate early this year," Syeena said as she took out some bat and pumpkin streamers. Inside she had a series of magical videos-- the perfect flics for scary movies to watch to get psyched for the upcoming spookfest. For witches, Halloween was not a simple holiday. It was mandatory! A true witch's power increased during the night of All Hallow's Eve when the spirits would be restless. The candy and the dressing up and parading freely as a witch.. that was just icing on the cake. At that time, Syeena made her towards the Black Cat Lounge, located at the end of the street in the more obscure part of the city. Little did she know she would meet a friend on the way... |

There was something about Halloween as it was celebrated that Emily had never understood. It seemed so frivolous and trivial, but to her it was the representation of the darkness that she idolized. People dressing up in silly costumes had never struck her as the best way to celebrate the day when dark powers were closer to the world than at any other time of year. However, she did anticipate it, so that she might eventually see a demonstration of those dark powers in action. If anything was going to happen, it stood to reason it would happen on Halloween. Right now she was short on funds, but she still enjoyed browsing her way through the magic shops and other less charming magical emporiums that were located in this strange and generally shunned part of town. Only witches, mages, necromancers and thaumaturges tended to spend their time on the narrow, winding streets of the district. Emily had enjoyed her latest exploration of the stores. She’d seen some grimoires that some day she’d own and learn from. The pretty redhead’s goal was still to make herself more powerful than any mage had ever been, no matter how farfetched that goal seemed. As she rounded a corner, she recognized Hex and Syeena coming in the other direction. She had learned that useful resources needed to be cultivated so instead of avoiding them she stepped forward with her best “this is a real, genuine smile” plastered on her face. She said, “Syeena! Hex! Fancy meeting you two out here tonight! It’s been a while.” |

The plan was to gather and set up supplies for the movie night party. It was part of tradition Syeena had for getting ready for halloween. She would invite friends for a scary movie marathon to get into the mood of things. It was a slow and steady process to work up to halloween night. But it was all well and good even though it had barely even started. As she headed for the black cat to see if Agil had plans and supplies as well, Syeena heard her name and soon looked beyond her bags. It was the somewhat crazy girl that Syeena and Hex helped get settled into Grimore Heart. She was a bit odd. A little girl sociopath, Syeena knew from her previous adventure, but still she was kind to her. She wasn't THAT bad. "Hi there, Emily..." Syeena replied, readjusting the groceries in her arms. Hex continued to flutter above them with her wings. "You going to invite her too Syeena? " Hex asked, looking to her. She wasn't going to, as she didn't seem like the type into it. Plus at her age, she wondered if it was wrong to invite her to potentially scary movies. Regardless they began to talk and walk-- heading for the Black Cat Lounge. "I'm getting things together for a scary movie party I am throwing at my home here. Just a small thing I do to prepare for Halloween. " Syeena told the little girl. "I don't suppose you would be interested?" she asked. At that time, they had arrived to the Black Cat Lounge. For a more shadowy district, the place had high class interest. It was a single story dark violet building wtih the neon sign of "The Black Cat Lounge" in fancy script, ending in the drawing of a black cat. Classic Witch theme club, but Syeena had visited it many times. It was worthy of any jazz club and just as enchanting. Despite the attraction to dark mages and all kinds of dark creatures of the night. But at least they had taste. Emily would no doubt be surprised to see a big burly demon with red skin and horns before him, wearing a 'bouncer' suit and sun glasses over his eyes. He looked at SYeena for a moment, then as she pulled out a card, she flashed the demon the Grimore Heart logo on the back of the card. The demon gave a nod, recognizing it was indeed Syeena. Now they could get in-- and hopefully Emily wouldn't antagonize the demonic bouncer. "It's okay. She's with me," she said lightly to the guard as they would now enter the club. |

Other people might have offered to help Syeena carry some of her bags, but the psychotic crimson-haired girl wasn’t other people. She was her very own person and all that she cared about was what would happen next and would it actually be exciting. Somehow she figured that excitement followed her companion around and so she decided she’d stick with the flying cat and the witch. Emily was too impressed by the sheer assortment of strange, dark and bizarre life forms around her to even think about making things more exciting for herself and everyone else around her. It was already exciting enough to see demons and other eldritch beings for her and to perhaps see something truly new. The fact that the redhead was so jaded by the world could have spoken volumes on its own. She glanced around and turned back to Hex and Syeena as she asked, “What else is going to happen here? I mean this is a pretty cool place but there has to be more to this? I mean that guy was a demon! They don’t just hang around normally. There’s all that summoning and finger twiddling stuff before they show up usually.” She added, “So does everyone know about this place or are we like VIP’s or something? It’d be cool if we were VIP’s. I could probably order everyone around. Can I do that? Please tell me I can!” The normally absent excitement was beginning to rise into Emily again. She was feeling like something truly thrilling was about to happen and that made her escape from her normal sense of everything being totally dull. Now the repressed part of her more child-like personality was coming out and it was rather extreme because it was so hidden for the most part. |

Syeena rolled her eyes before they entered the black cat. "This club happens to be run by a friend of mine. It is VIP type of place, but I expect you to behave yourself regardless, got it?" Syeena said in a firm tone, the look behind her glasses firm even if she couldn't see her eyes. After all while it was a classy and elite type of place to hang out, Agil wouldn't think of kicking out anyone to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the club. With that, Syeena pushed the door open as she and the others went inside. The inside of the club was dimly lit but offered enough to see where you were going. it was a jazzy like club with violet lightning and color. Boothes and couches were present, along iwth a small stage and piano area. A music box played somewhere as the bar was more properly lit, where Syeena was Agil working and cleaning glasses as he usually did. Agil was a tall, built man a few years older than Syeena. He was dark skinned and a bald head, but still held a charming allure of the classy bartender. He looked up, seeing Syeena approach the bar with her hands full of groceries and put them down on the counter with a sigh of relief. "Looks like you been busy. Ladies and their shopping needs," he teased, remarking how much she had bought. Hex flew above them and gave a cat-like 'tisk' at Agil. "Ha! And what would YOU know about what girls buy? " Hex retorted. Agil and Hex were always at odds, bickering between one another. In Agil's defense though, Syeena knew that Hex was an acquired taste to get used to. They fought like cats and dogs. "We are actually throwing a scary movie party at Syeena's home. And YOU'RE not invited." Hex added, sticking her tongue out and making a face at Agil. Agil just gave the cat a grumpy look, knowing how much the two argued and deciding to withdraw any words he would use against her. " Getting ready for the holiday, hmm? You witches sure know how to throw a party," He said, smirking at Syeena. Syeena replied with a smile of her own, all while still in her disguise attire as a nerdy like girl. "I do assume I am invited to your party, Syeena?" he asked her. Syeena smirked at him. "Of course you are, Agil. It wouldn't be a party without you. Think you can bring some of your own goodies or movies as well?" she asked. Agil had set up Syeena's usual. A twisted fate cocktail that she liked, sweet but light as wine. "I'll bring the drinks..." he said as he soon looked down to notice Emily-- and frowned a bit, realizing once again Syeena had brought in a little kid. "Syeena, I know you got a big heart under that sexy and dark demeanor of yours but... I'm worried how my bar is gonna look if you keep bringing in stray kids out from the street," he said, knocking at Emily's age. This probably wouldn't end well as Emily seemed more eager to let herself be heard, despite her younger age. |

Although Emily was irritated by the rather condescending tone taken by Syeena at times, she was going to play the child-like card to her advantage at the moment, so that she could manipulate the situation by acting just as she was expected to act. She grinned up at Agil and completely deflected his attitude. It was easier to act as though she was a bit of a buffoon than to grow annoyed with the heavyset man. She said, “Oh I clean up well, sir. I’m temporarily between jobs and that’s why I was on the street. As soon as I find gainful employment, I’ll ensure that I pay my own way.” She gave him a wide-eyed stare that broadcasted innocence as she sat in front of the older witch and the much older bartender. She had elected to pretend to be young and foolish now. It might not be the best route for everyone but for this bunch it definitely was. She looked across at Hex and asked, “Do you know this guy well too? It seems like you are kind of...um...at odds with him? I wonder why that could be.” While she was acting like a silly child, Emily was busy scanning the room and taking in the fascinating array of human and non-human guests. There were several types of demons, some suspiciously pale customers who were drinking some thick, dark red liquid and looking around furtively and a wide assortment of necromancers, witches and other assorted magic users. It was exactly the sort of place that the redhead would have sought if she wanted somewhere to try and get in touch with those who could wield the kind of power that she craved. She was quite thankful to have been brought here and she was about to milk the opportunity for all it was worth. |

(OOC: Heavyset is not the correct way to describe him. You seen Agil from SAO right? He is not fat) SYeena flicked back a lock of hair. "Oh come now. It's not that bad," Syeena commented to Agil, brushing off the comment of bringing a bad image to the bar. "Besides, can't say i ever bring in 'normal' strays. " she answered, making her facts more suitable for the dark enviorment. Agil had to admit, it was true. Syeena had the knack to bring in people who were somewhat disturbed to the dark, even if they did look like children. "And out of all of them, Hex here is the mangiest stray you took in of all," he said, putting another jab to the talking cat nearby. Hex's ears perked up and turned to Agil. "I resent that!! You know Syeena raised me, stupid! Now pipe it down or I'll make a scratching post out of you," the cat meowed at Agil and turned back to Emily. "Oh hey is just a chatty dealer and half demon friend of Syeena. He gets all bent out of shape over silly things in my bar. I mean one little torn curtain with my claws and he loses his cool. Oh and not to mention he has a crush on Syeena since they were kids and-- MROOWW!" Agil had gotten over just in time to stop Hex from revealing more as he covered Hex's mouth. "That's enough, flea-bag. One more word and I'll toss you out in the back with the other ally cats!" he growled, Hex squirming in his grip. Syeena let out a tired sigh and rested a hand on her head. She took a sip of her ice water and watched as the two separated. "Anyway... think you can bring some party favors or movies? Regardless, we got a good party going. My aunts already gave me the all clear to use the cathedral to host the party. It's going to be spooky too in there." "I'm down with that," Agil said and finished cleaning the bar. Meanwhile, Hex now sat curled up on one of the stools to the bar. Wanting the cat out of his hair, sort of speak, Agil turned to a remote he used to control the jutebox of the lounge. Pressing a button, he listened as the music turned on. The beat soon carried over the air for a few seconds. After about 7 seconds, the familiar melody reached Hex's ears and caused them to perk up. With each beat of the music, her ears also twitched and her tail swished along. She then finally sat up to hear the song, recognizing it as Superstition! A happy meow escaped her as she already began to bob her head to the beat. "Mreow! That's my JAM!" she said with glee as she immediately jumped up and her wings appeared. In her own way of dancing, she fluttered around the room, moving to the melody of the music. Syeena let out a laugh as she saw how Agil made Hex happy. "So, good to know you're coming. Be at the cathedral about 6, okay?" she said, finishing her drink. |

(OOC Sorry! My bad.) The interrelationships of all of the people around her were of interest to Emily. It was always useful to know how people were connected because it tended to tell you who would be the key to any given situation. There was no telling who would be the most influential or important so it paid to keep alert. However it was going to take more than one quick exchange between Hex and Agil to get a full picture of the situation. For now, she’d keep playing along. Curious as always, Emily turned to Syeena and asked, “So what cathedral is this? Not the cathedral? I mean..your family must know some people if you can get those sorts of strings pulled. I’m pretty impressed.” She added, “Also do you want to tell me who’s invited to this party? I mean, for instance, might I be invited to it? I’m into the whole party thing really.” Of course, really, Emily could have cared less about parties but they did give her access to more people. In this case, it would be more magical people. She was all ears when it came to the idea of being in a group of those who truly knew about magic and what it could do. She was keenly aware that creating new friendships could be advantageous to her. |

Syeena turned to Emily's question in her chair. "No, not that cathedral." She explained as Hex flew around the room, boogieing to the beat. "My coven- er family, lives in an old gothic cathedral in the rural area of Poinsettia. Beautiful place, and no one bothers us there. Anyway, we can use it to watch the movies. Its alot bigger and has plenty of underground floors. So we have the run of the place for the party. " Syeena was surprised that Emily asked to be invited. Despite she got a sense now that Emily was a bit of a sociopath, the Umbra Witch was anything but an ungrateful host. "Of course you can come. I invited a few people from the guild. Just be warned, some of the movies may scare you." She teased, ruffling her hair a bit like a babysitter would to a younger child. "Agil can show you the way there, or just look for the large cathedral in the grove of trees in the east section of town. " she said. That night, the lights of both the 'tree house-windows and the small wood sprites illuminated the city streets and parts of the allyways-- which led the way into the rural part of the tree-based city. It was an eerie night, a chill in the air and the moon waxing. As Emily would make her way towards the party, she could see it. The clearing in the tree-building skyscrapers that surrounded the grove. From a distance, it looked like any other church, surrounded by the trees and greenery. However, inside was the ancient and sacred home of the Umbra Witches. It was a good front nonetheless for them. The party was small, being no more than a half-dozen people not including Syeena and Hex. Jackolanturns were already lit to show the door, and a few eerie candils that floated on their own lit the doorway as it was opened. Syeena was dressed back in her witchy-black sorceress attire, now more comfortable as she welcomed in guests. "Evening. Come on in. Go to the far left and follow the hall to the second door on your right. That's where we can set up the movie. " She said to the couple that passed. A few people of the Grimore Heart, and local friends she knew. Those that were cool with her being a witch, or even a client from the Umbra Witches. Finally, she smiled as Agil and Emily arrived. Syeena now was holding Hex in her arms as she greeted them. "Hi there, guys. Welcome. That's everyone--" "HEY WAAAAAIIITT!" a voice howled in an annoying tone. Both Syeena and Hex looked shocked to hear that voice. "Please don't be him," Hex chanted, her tone becoming desperate. "Please don't be him! Please don't be-- MRREOWW!" Hex's meow happened right as he entered the light of the jackolanturns-- revealing to be a muscular man with a taller stature and wearing a black shirt with striped pants as if he came out of prison. The Unusual attire of the man with a strange left magic circle in his eye, and sharp canines in his teeth. It was none other than Grimore Heart's werewolf, Free-- the same werewolf Syeena, Hex and Emily had contended with on a job who somehow ended up joining their guild. "Hey there, ladies. You were going to throw a party without me?" Free asked, surprising Agil too as he stood there. Hex face-pawed herself as she tried to recover from the sheer mental shock. "What are YOU doing here?" Hex said without any restraint of tact. Free stood up and stuck out his chest. "Well I know you must of simply forgotten to invite me. After all, I am the resident party animal, if you catch my drift. Right, Sy?" Free said, raising a brow at Syeena. "It's the doghouse for you, Cujo!" Hex snapped, raising a paw to try and scratch him but couldn't reach due to Syeena's hold on her. |

Before the redhead even had a chance to take in the fascinating crowd that surrounded her, there was a rather unwelcome interruption. From Emily’s perspective, it didn’t really make much difference if the werewolf they’d dragged back with them stuck around or not, but it did seem to cause annoyance with Syeena and Hex. She still felt like they should have just left him back where they found him, but given the current circumstances, that seemed unlikely. Before her friend could respond, the crimson-haired killer cut into the conversation and said, “Some people are best left at home, you old wolf. I bet you have the worst case of grabby hands ever at parties. I can just imagine where you try to sneak those paws when people aren’t looking. No wonder you wanted to be invited.” Emily gave him a green-eyed glance that held a little bit of flirtation in it. She didn’t feel much of anything when she flirted but it was fun to see how others reacted to her. Sometimes she wished that there was more to it than play acting but she was unable to make herself experience any sort of emotion at all. She had to settle for feigning what she was feeling. Now that she’d made her comment, she decided to look over the impressive surroundings of the cathedral that soared above her head, as well as casting an appreciative eye over all of the strange, dark and bizarre people that seemed to make up the crowd. It was a sight that left her wanting to talk to all of these fascinating individuals even more than she had when Syeena first mentioned the idea of the party. |
