Ayn pulled the collar of his coat higher and rubbed his hands together for some more warmth; it wasn’t overly uncomfortable, nothing he hadn’t experienced before but still he thought it off for being so cool on an autumn morning in Fiore, but he hadn’t any other real autumn mornings in Fiore to compare them too. “Dwwa dwe cowlb” the half fox muttered, the words made unintelligible by the coat collar now wrapped tightly around the lower half of his face. He had spent the previous night sleeping rough along one of the pathways to and from the city in the middle of the purple forest expecting it to be calm enough; but the sudden icy shower and the howling winds had kept him from getting too much quality time with his leafy pillow. Not overly disheartened the half fox simply prepared himself for the journey ahead of him, cramming as much of the wrapped partial loaf of bread into his mouth and drinking the fire warmed water to help stave off any chill. His aim for the day was to reach the city by mid-morning and from there look for some small time work, he’d been diligent when reaching the country, saving up just enough doing some handiwork around the harbour, however with no real trade skill he had been paid poorly; using the money he’d taken himself to a store to buy as much for his travel as possible and headed off to one of the richer cities in the land, hoping to at least find something there and once again if things didn’t go his way he’d just save up enough and travel once more. If anything he preferred the idea, seeing places as he went onwards and not having anything in the way of burdening responsibility. After tending to the embers and collecting his belongings, Ayn started off on the path towards the city, the way he had been told was a lesser travelled one and meandered slightly however it was a change of scenery and more direct that walking to one of the main ways through the forest. “Is anyone there” the half fox called out, listening to the distinct rustles and sounds of laughter just out of the range of sight beyond a small circle of bushes. With no answer to be heard, Ayn was driven on by his inquisitive nature, creeping as quietly as he could, the teen reached the outcrop of purple-green foliage and pressed his head between a narrow openings to spy what was on the other side. “Ahh!” one voice yelled as a young woman stood up, pulling as much as she could over herself. “Who the hell are you?” She screamed looking at the white haired teen pressed through the foliage as she wrapped a towel around herself, hoping that the guy hadn’t seen too much as she had been bathing. “Answer me!” She shouted, this time less in shock and more in annoyance of the situation. A Dazed Ayn stood there for a moment, his face blank from shock. He’d have stayed there for even longer if not for a sharp foot pressing against his back, right between the tails and pushing him into the water. Pulling himself to the surface and breathing deeply from lack of air and shock, he looked around at the pair, one woman and another younger boy, barely fourteen. Both looked at the half fox who sat in what appeared to be a small hot spring, soaked to the bone and with two strange tails floating behind him. “I’m Ayn.” He finally said, a little shocked at the whole situation himself. Hoping nobody else had seen his unfortunate run in. Edited by Mazohyst, Oct 22 2015, 02:40 AM.

What a interesting and strange sight to behold, it seemed Cain had quite strange luck when it came to venturing through the woods. Every time he seemed to be in a heavily wooded area strange things just seemed to rain down around him. Mind you last time he did hunt down a black market bazaar that was dealing in human trafficking with a cursed mage that turned into a blood thirsty werewolf but that couldn't be too strange in Fiore right? Cain seemed to be walking right into a pair of siblings bathing in a local hot spring while some sort of twin tailed teen had peeped in on them mid bath. Cain being the sort that really just couldn't help to not be intrigued by such interesting things walked right into the seen like it was some sort of gathering. " Well now, your a tad old to be peeping about the woods wolfy? " Cain would ask with a rather up beat look on his face as he parted his long coat revealing his twin pistols. " Do pardon my intrusion. Do go about gathering your clothing and belongs. " Cain would say as he started to walk toward Ayn seemed to be completely unaffected by the near naked woman and her younger brother as if they were the by standards not him. He would rest on hand on his pistol and out reach the other in a calm manner as he got close. " Cain Noven Rahl " He would say introducing himself to the teen still seeming to expect the siblings to scurry along as if nothing was going on. At the least they would feel possibly protected by the fact a armed man appeared to deal with some sort of half breed monster. In Cains eyes however he simply was uninterested in the two siblings as they looked rather plain and boring, while a teenager with twin tails peeked his interest, he already knew one werewolf why not meet another possible one? It was simply safe to say everything about Cain felt like he was putting himself above not just this awkward situation but above everyone else. He was a Noble surely, or just someone with a huge ego and a thing for animals tails. |

Ayn looked up to see a third member had joined the party, he didn’t have a similar look to the other two and by the faces of the people who had pushed him out of the bush, they had no idea who he was. “I’m not a peeping tom and don’t wall me wolfy.” Ayn said in a dry tone, he wasn’t used to these sorts of encounters and while he did value new experiences he’d learned at a young age never to be on a beaten side of the stick. “If you wouldn’t mind all of you telling me who you are.” He asked back. Pulling himself out of the pool and starting to wring as much of his water logged clothing dry as possible, the chill in the air would soon make it unbearable if he was soaked through. But if he was stuck here for a short amount of time explaining himself to delay from fire building, he’d help his clothing along as much as he could. The two teens didn’t answer his question, simply gathered up their belongings at the command of the third and started off into the forest in a sort of planned path, the woman glancing back to give Ayn an icy sneer, one that he would have returned If he’d seen but the addition of a weapon into the scenario of him and this Cain person demanded he didn’t start throwing around his attention without thinking. “Nice gun.” He said in almost a cautiously hurt fashion, he had no wish for this person to be touting a weapon about while he was starting to feel the biting cold, if anything the best case scenario would for him to scram in the other direction or to follow the siblings and act as a buffer between Ayn and them if they thought to turn backwards. “If you don’t mind I need to get dry or I’ll freeze to death.” Ayn said once more in a cautious tone turning slightly to pick up some pieces of wood from around the grotto where the hot spring pool way, keeping his gaze trained on Cain as much as he could. The guy held himself well but people who were entitled often thought themselves free of common decency, so much so that the half fox was cautious about offending him, keeping his tone of voice muted and neutral. “Thank you breaking up anything there before it could escalate.” Ayn stammered, trying to be polite while keeping his own more wild tendencies under control, he was sure if he picked himself up too much, his less caring side would come out and he’d find his rib cage on the receiving end not just of the preverbal stick put a bullet to boot. “But I wasn’t peeping, I heard a noise and was kicked down here before I could react.” He explained, trying to get a read on what this guy’s motives were for intervening and if he was in any danger. On the other side of the bushes at the top of the slope, a man sat quietly under the greenery, wearing little in the way of clothing besides a few burlap scraps and covered in almost tribal markings made with some sort of moss coloured body paint, he placed his ear as close to the drop off as possible, listening to anything he could as the pair started to talk below. Knowledge was power and learning more about this prey could be indeed beneficial to his people. The man scoped out all he could, connecting not only his ear to the bush but his magical senses to the grotto; causing his consciousness to slip into the water, an almost invisible but foggy apparition appearing below the surface, as the nature mage continued spying, waiting to see if either one would leave behind a personal belonging. “The children did well to lure people out here, let us see how worthy they are.” His body whispered, the sound lost in the rustling of leaves and chirp of birds. |

Cain would simply smile seeming to ignore the two siblings as they left the scene only for Ayn ask if he could dry off or he would start to freeze to death. This only seemed to amuse Cain a bit as he removed his hand from hovering of his pistol for the moment and wave his hand outward telling Ayn to move along. " No need to be dramatic, the average time that frost bite would set in is thirty minutes from now. You are not in any immediate danger. " Cain would explain seeming to follow Ayn. " Heard a noise hm? Do you have excellent hearing, or are those tails just for show? " Cain would ask with a smirk as this was all he really wanted to know. " Forgive my nosiness, I'm a doctor you see. I strive to constantly learn more about people afflicted by magical aliments or more about magical creatures, so I can better help others that mishap. " Cain would explain only lieing a small bit, he did want to know about all magical creatures to expand his knowledge of helping others, but he had no intention of just opennly offering this aid, he planned to gain a massive knowledge and use it then for his own benefit to raise House Rahl here in Fiore. |

“Dramatic or not; It’s uncomfortable.” Ayn said more to himself that the other guy; gathering enough in the way of fire wood to start a small blaze, with a few quick strikes of some stones together with some kindling soon enough the pile was a flickering fire; giving off enough heat to take away from the biting of the cold but still not rid him of it all together. Taking that this guy was apparently a doctor and likely used to things like this, Ayn took off his top and pants leaving the pale cold teen pulling himself as close to the fire without physically burning himself as possible. Pulling his clothing upwards near the blaze to dry them as quickly as possible. The water soaked into them being warmed already by the spring, it didn’t take long for trails of vapour to start to flicker from them. “If you want to stick around they’ll be dry in twenty.” Ayn explained, his tails flicking from side to side in his idle and annoyed mood. It wasn’t how he wanted to get things going today, stripped down to soaked through boxers, straddling a fire as best as he could while waiting for his clothes to dry and survive a gun crazed doctor. “So what sort of magical ailments do you study?" Ayn asked in his boredom, the shock of the gun had worn down to a dull awareness, his eyes flicking back and forth from the flames to the weapon, but not transfixed to it any more. He had gathered that if this guy was to do anything he would have done it by now. And perhaps this was one of the few times that the attention his spiritual limbs attached to his back was a benefit to him. “Like magical colds or things that block people from their power?” the half fox enquired. Picking up a few pieces of wood and twigs within arm’s length and placing them on the fire carefully as to not stir up a cloud of hot embers. While still in Pergrande he’d heard tales of people who used magic coming down with corruption like afflictions that tore at their magical abilities and some even causing gangrenous lesions across their bodies; but things heard through the grapevine were often exaggerated, this was a rare opportunity to shed some light on the subject, but still he’d have to tread carefully around the topic. “And there are deer and things in these woods, apparently the occasional wild boar; it’s best not to pester them or they can charge.” Sighing to himself about how trigger happy this guy seemed, he had little choice but to sit and wait for his clothing; sure freeing a limb off wouldn’t be instantaneous but thirty minutes as this guy said wouldn’t let him get far without clothing, he was stuck next to the warmth for now. |

Cain calmly and quietly followed Ayn as he walked over to a small area with a clear area enough to dry off and set up a fire to warm him. As he took his clothes off Cain simply turn around humming to himself seeming to only peer over his shoulder again as Ayn started to set up the fire. Keeping his back toward Ayn even as he straddled the fire, it would be at least comforting that Cain had a the decency to not be starting at a near naked Ayn trying to keep warm, that he was at least giving him that. As Ayn started to ask about what Cain studied he would smile lightly looking over his shoulder slightly as Ayn went on to ask about magical colds or illnesses that inhibited one using magic. Cain would chuckle lightly at the idea. " Those any much more. Curses, plagues, ailments, outbreaks, injuries, and I even dabble in researching the ability to use magic. " Cain would explain his vague last point meaning he researched time to time on how to make everyone be able to use magic, a dangerous idea in most parts of Fiore. It was something talked about and attempted a lot in Permagrande since they have such a massive army of diverse kingdoms. " I'm currently compiling a medical journal to submit to the Knight of Fiore on treating magical injuries. One of which with luck will allow me join their ranks, as being a foreigner limits how far I can go here in Fiore. " Cain would explain seeming to drop the bomb he was foreign, which wasn't truly surprising given his appearance but none the less it raised the question of just where he was, and what he was aiming to achieve here in Fiore, in the same breath the same could be asked about Ayn. " So I must inquire if you will humor me. Where you born with those tails, or did you obtain them at a later date? Are them some sort of manifestation? A curse? If not, what sort of creature are you? " Cain would ask musingly seeming to have his voice get more and more excited with every question, it was clear as day that Cain was very much interested in Ayn and finding out more about him. |

The fact this want to be knight wasn’t from Fiore did help to flare up Ayn’s curious side; he enjoyed knowing this and all sorts of stuff and something put so bluntly like that did make him curious in some regards, but soon enough the curiosity turned to a sour taste in his mouth, almost enough to make his face screw up in disgust, but being more in control that to let that happen, he let out his distaste by prodding at the embers with more fury. “It’s a long story.” Ayn said blankly, it had been the elephant in the room sure, and he was almost certain that it’d be one of the things asked quickly by this guy once he had admitted his study of magical aliments. Poking a bit more furiously at the fire pile; the half fox sighed to himself, siting backwards with his bare back against the cold and damn top behind him. “Sure I’ll tell.” Shifting around a few sticks he had it quickly apparent that it wasn’t going to be a free trade. “If you want to know; but that gun somewhere hard to reach, it’s a little uncomfortable having you with the ability to wave around a deadly weapon when I’m in nothing but boxers.” The point blank honesty was a little more refreshing, almost enough to take the sour taste of the previous question from his mouth. With a calm and cold stare he continued. “And I want to know where exactly you are from, I don’t want to go throwing around information it you’re from one of these backwater place that’ll likely burn me for being some sort of abomination if you hear something you don’t like.” With the ball in his own court he was able to dictate the pace of things a little more, truthfully they weren’t stupidly hard things to do but he wasn’t exactly trading something of high value, just a story of his childhood; one man’s trash was another’s ticket into knighthood however. Poking at the stick for a while longer waiting for the answers and explanations, the half fox kept a cautious eye on his clothing, the moment it was dry and back on, he’d have the possibility to bolt if things looked dubious, as the guy had said he would have 30 minutes without clothing on, with it he could easily make it back to town and out run the guy if he was a man. “Crap.” He sneered under his breath, the clothing was still too damp to offer much besides a cold and an early grave. From the bushes the man who had been spying on the pair kept his eyes on the clothed one, he seemed to be the more dangerous of the pair especially on how he had acted around the other children and now this other white haired stranger. The old lips curled upwards into a curt smile; his plan would take a little more time to enact and by the looks of it neither were preparing to move. Returning to himself and moving his field of vision behind him, the old man could just about make out the shapes of people on their way in the distance, it would take some time for them to reach the hot spring glade but approaching from the other side of a hill and out of sight, it wasn’t likely that they’d be detected until it was too late. |
