Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Slightly dull-eyed, Cleia watched the first play, or would it be called a dance, with concealed interest. Since she was playing the uninterested youth in the theater with Benzio, she acted like nothing moved her. In actuality, though, the music was quite appealing, and she had to admit that the way the dancers manipulated their streamers was very artistic. She couldn't help but manage a smile, when the gentle fog began to blow out from the stage. The effect was now nothing short of surreal.

There was, however, something fishy about the fog. It seemed somewhat clingy... like water vapor. From what Cleia knew, all those fog effects that people used to augment their shows were not pure water vapor. Her little circus family had employed such fog blowers, a few times, and Cleia always tried to help Gusto set things up, so she knew a little about them. Besides, Benzio seemed surprised about the mist, though he passed it off as a new theatrical stunt. For a while, it seemed that the fog was harmless, but then, beyond the previous suspicion, perhaps this fog was becoming a little too thick to be part of the stage performance. Benzio shared similar opinions.

"Either this blasted fog is not part of the show, or the person in charge is getting a bit too enthusiastic... Hey!!!"

Cleia jumped to her feet as Benzio was lifted fluidly and swiftly out of his seat. In fact, the nabbing was so nicely done that Benzio did not collide with anyone as he was being hijacked. Cleia made her way to the aisles as fast as she could, not minding whether she tripped over anyone. She could barely make out figures in the fog... were they two or three? However, the fog was too thick for her to identify them, and as she ran into the fog, they were gone.

"No! Damn it!"

Cleia was not used to cursing, but that just showed the extent of her frustration and distress. The assassination was already taking place, and no one in the theater was the wiser. They remained transfixed, their gazes riveted on the stage, as the fog now swirled among them. All they did was complain about the vision impairment, but no one made any attempts to do anything about it.

Horror filling her heart at what might become of the eccentric playwright, Cleia stumbled for the nearest exit...

"Unhand me, you hoodlums!!" Benzio shouted as Vector dragged him along as he was tied up and thrown over the crocodile's shoulder. Both Vector and Suijin ascended the steps of the theater till they got to the staging area. Despite the people that would be behind stage-- they went to the part where only the lightning crew would be. ANd lucky for Suijin and Vector, no one was up at that point. They had that floor to themselves, out of sight and with no one to disturb them.

The fog was a perfect cover as Suijin led the way and out of the fog, through the exit and made their way upstairs. As they got to the top, they opened up a door and it revealed the suspended platforms and rope works for the stage below. They had kidnapped the guy right above the heads of the guests and were able to drag him about. At the end of the platforms were a smaller room, this one enclosed and not among the lightning area to allow one to watch the play unseen from that angle and viewpoint.

It was the perfect place for the Playwrite and the Dark mages to 'chat'.

"You will not get away with this!" the playwrite complained, a bit too loudly or risking to be heard by someone.

Vector clamped a hand over his mouth as SUijin and him proceeded to drag him across the platform, trying to get them to the other room. "Aw, keep quiet! Keep it up and I'll gag you, buddy!"

Suijin said nothing but keeping on guard. He was sure that the playwrite's absence wouldn't go unnoticed by the bodyguard and she would be coming any minute now. As they threw the tied up man into the next room, Suijin leaned against the doorframe as Vector cracked his knuckles.

"Alright, Benzio. You seem like a tough guy? You feel like talking smack about our guild now?" Suijin said with a coy tone of voice.

Vector stuck out his tongue as well in a wicked way-- revealing the Tartaros tattoo he had on it. The playwrite trembled a bit at the sight of this.

(Pardon NPC control but your free to input your angle too. Also feel free to make your way upstairs to where they are too :P )

It looked like favor smiled on Cleia, for she heard a shout that she recognized to be Benzio's. Running through the fog in that particular direction, and even climbing over some people who were not willing to stand aside in her attempt to get to the location of the sound, Cleia managed to spy a door swing shut through the obscuring effect of the fog. She quickly pranced over to it and yanked it open. She found a few people behind the stage, but she paid them no heed and headed for the next exit, which had a flight of stairs leading upwards.

By the time she got to the top, she noticed that she was above the crowds on the suspended platforms. Beneath, the fog swirled, pale and spectral, about the guests below, who were hardly aware of the kidnappings and rescue attempts. She would have loved to pause and enjoy the surreal view, but knowing that someone's life was on the line kept her going. After all, she was probably the only one who had a chance to save him...

Meanwhile, Benzio found himself staring at his captors: one rather muscular guy and his pet alligator or something. He was very afraid, but he had actually made peace with this moment, in case such ever happened. It was certain these guys were not small fry, so this mission perhaps did not qualify as a D-rank mission anymore. He closed his eyes and took a small gulp, then opened them, his face resolute. It was actually a blessing that he was sitting on the floor, else, even with his resolute mien, his knees may have balked. In a calm voice laced with irritation, he said:

"I don't talk 'smack', or whatever that is... I prefer to communicate in refined language." (yeah, he had no idea that was a slang) "Why are you dark guilds always so boorish in operation? Fine, I don't like you guys; what stops you from calling me over for a cup of coffee or wine, and then we smoothing out our differences like civilized gentlemen...?"

At that moment, Suijin would sense someone approaching. Cleia paused on seeing him at the door. She actually recognized him as the hunk she had seen in the city. Who knew he was the dark mage that she was meant to look out for? She had to admit at this point that being reticent had its advantages, because she might have attempted a conversation back in the city, and everything would be quite awkward now. Anyway, now was not the time for socialization and chats, so she rid her mind of such thoughts. Then she started walking slowly towards them, while a monstrous mass of runes floated ominously over her head.

"Please sir, would you be so kind as to step away from Mr. Luminoso?"

She didn't look like much, being short and all, but her words, even though very polite, held a certain danger to them.

( Ooc posting from IPad)

"Ha! We are more the hard booze type," Vector boasted, trying to sound tough for being such a short crocodile. He enjoyed playing the roll of " bad cop" when it came to intimidating enemies.

Suijin rolled his eyes as he turned to Benzido. " Alright. You and I are going to have a little chat about you tarnishing our guild's name," Suijin stated cracking his knuckles.

However before things could even get rolling, Suijin heard the rushed sound of footsteps, and the smell of the cute bodyguard he saw before. He turned to the door and stepped outside. " Looks like we have company," Suijin said. Vector looked too through the doorway to see the girl show up.

At that point, Suijin stepped out of the room to greet the girl. " Vector, entertain our guest. I'll keep her busy," he said.

Vector looked to Suikin, away from the captive, and gave him an annoyed look. "Hey!!" The crocodile argued, " How come you always get to chat with the girls while I have to--" Slam!! Suijin closed the door, leaving Vector and the play write alone.

The crocodile gave a sigh and then turned to the playwriting. " Alright then, Mr. Benzido, time for us to get down to business. Hehehe..." Vector said in a menacing tone. The play write trembled as the reptile approached and braced for the worst....

Flipflipflip!

The flipping of pages caught Benzido's attention as he saw Vector holding a script. "Would you let me audition for your latest play, since you're gonna be hanging here for a while? As a crocodile, I'm naturally SWAMPED with acting talent!" Vector said cheerfully, confusing Benzido.

Oh, Suijin would murder him if he knew what Vector just did.

Suijin had closed the door, a glimpse of Bensido showing just before he closed it to Cleia. Now seeing her face to face, she really was cute. While they were enemies, Suijin still showed her a cool smirk. Of course she didn't bother with flirtatious bante, as she summoned magic runes in a threatening manner.

He chuckled at her request. "Sorry. I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request," he replied in a calm, more sarcastic polite response. Same refine tone, clearly a rejection. Suijin simply stood on the platform between the woman and the door to the next room. He kept his handsome smirk and kept his hands in his pockets. "Nothing personal, cutie, but I'm afraid we have business with your client. Don't worry. We will give him back... Mostly unscratched," he said in a light tone.

It was true. Despite the distaste he caused their guild, Suijin didn't come here to kill the man. The goal was to merely scare him straight. A reminder just what would happen if he made more of an enemy out of the Barrium Alliance. So they were just going to rough him up a bit.

Of course Suijin had no illusion that the young woman would sit by and let hat happen.

Benzio's heart jumped for joy at the coming of his bodyguard, but he didn't know how well she would be able to handle the muscular dark mage. It was very rare for a powerful mage to stoop to take a D-rank mission, so unless the dark mage was some pushover, things were going to quickly end up hairy for Benzio and his protector. As the man stepped out to meet Cleia and shut the door behind him, Benzio considered attacking Vector. He eventually thought against that line of action. The crocodile may be flighty and comical, but he was still a crocodile, and that meant sharp teeth, claws and hard scales. Resigning himself to fate, Benzio waited for a torturing session, though he was minded to attack once the reptile laid hands on him. Even if he got torn to shreds, it would have happened anyway... and there was a minute shred of possibility that he might be able to overpower the reptile. So, bracing himself and trying to look tough, he waited...

He certainly did not expect what happened next. Was the croc actually asking him for an audition? He blinked in shock, although being naturally intelligent, his mind recovered quickly and weighed the options. He could befriend the croc, or go hostile. The latter option would, in almost all the final scenarios, end with the muscular dark mage's boot in his mouth. He could try to deceive the reptile, but Benzio was an honest and straightforward man. He would never resort to underhand tactics, even if his life depended on it.

"Are you serious? I actually thought you were going to... never mind that. Are you really interested in my play?"

Maybe this crocodile wasn't such a bad guy after all...

On the other side of the door, Cleia faced off against the dark mage, who seemed very sure of himself. As a person not new to combat, she often had the impression that a cocky opponent was either of three things: powerful, unique or very stupid. She could only assume that this guy was responsible for the fog, and with the way he had masterfully executed the kidnapping, she would have to place him under strong, or unique. The former was likely the case.

"There are many ways of giving a person back, sir: mutilated, flayed, disemboweled, just to name a few. Do you honestly think I'll just accept that and let you do what you want with him? Besides, I don't think half of what he's saying about you guys is false now, is it?"

The more she talked with him, the more that strange lizard had the time to perpetrate his diabolical plans. So, she had to take action. She would instigate this fight, and hope she could prevail. She ran towards the dark mage and aimed a straight kick at his solar plexor. His response would tell her what kind of person she was up against. There wasn't too much space to the sides for her to try her evasive form of combat, so she would work with the simpler explosive form. She also didn't want to have to use her magic, as a single Jinrai could bring the entire evening even to an end. It would have to be her last resort.

Suijin kept his cool and crossed his arms against his chest as he waited. Through the door, they couldn't hear much of anything. In truth, the fate of the playwrite didn't bother him, but he was given a job and he would do what he had to to make their point across. YOu don't tango with the might of a dark guild and this girl was going to get a glimpse of why that was.

As she charged after her little speech, Suijin smirked. "He probably is telling the truth about some things but..." he stopped mid sentence as she charged and attacked with her flying kick. And still he smiled.

SPLASH!

Cleia's momentum stopped as her foot met something. In a flash as if from nowhere, a mass of water surged around Suijin's body and stopped the kick. The force of the spinning water was so strong it very well stopped her kick and the resulting current would shove her back, sending her flying back to where she attacked from.

As she would get a better look, Suijin had not moved an inch as the spinning water coiled around him. It moved like mini streams of a rushing river, coiling around his body. At the top, she could see the stream-- forming the shape of a serpent's head as if it was alive! The serpent hissed as it moved around Suijin, being a mass of water and clear now what Suijin was. A water mage.

"...the real question is, just what are you all going to do about it?" Suijin continued in a menacing tone. He let her get a good look at her, both being playfully flirting and intimidating at the same time. He really was starting to enjoy her feisty attitude. "Though to be honest with you, I try to avoid fighting women... but I do love it when they are the ones looking for a fight. Just don't be too mad WHEN I beat you," he said with a sly smirk.

Suijin clearly had a cocky streak, but as Cleia could see, he had reason to be. His water serpent shield was incredibly strong, showing just how dangerous the power of water was if used correctly.

"Water?!"

There had been no moisture anywhere around the dark mage, but all of a sudden, just before the kick connected, the water appeared and deflected the blow. It didn't just deflect the blow, it actually thrust her back some good distance. Fortunately for her, it gave her enough space to perform a tuck backflip and land in a crouching position some distance away. The dark mage still stood there with his annoying smirk; obviously, he had not even moved at all to block her attack.

He was cocky because he was strong.

He could conjure up water at will, and it was most likely he was responsible for the fog that had shrouded the theater. This one would be a very formidable opponent, but she was not willing to back down. Since it was obvious that he was not going to step away from that door, there was no more need for words. She glanced up at the head of the serpentine water construct. It seemed to have a life of its own, and her guess was that it could probably perform its own attacks and movements with little assistance from its caster. She could try her Jinrai against it, but like she had thought earlier, she wanted that to be a last option technique.

She broke into another charge, but this time, as she drew close, she performed a reverse round house kick towards his face. He seemed to be toying with her, so she would use the time he took her unseriously to gauge the strength of his water snake. If he was going to attack with it, she might have to whip up her shield and try a counterattack.

The Shakujou would be her next line of offense, if her attacks proved useless so far. While she didn't want to look like a bloodthirsty individual, she might have to resort to injuring him for her to get through...

... if she could scratch him at all.

It amused Suijin to see someone try to attack him when he had such an impenetrable defense. While his Water Dragon Coil Guard, as he liked to call it, he was nearly untouchable. It was the first spell he chose to master among his known Dragon Slayer spells. It was his most reliable defense spell that covered all sides of his person. It 'alive' quality was that it would move and intercept any attack from any angle within range that acted against him.

"You're out of your depth, doll face," he warned her as she charged again to attack him. He didn't mean to mock her too much. He truly found her rather cute and interesting. Perhaps he could charm her later, but now he wanted to see what she was capable of.

She delivered another kick, but it was futile as the water shield easily countered the kick, blocking it with its flow. It was as if she was trying to punch a stream and naturally, all it would do would slow down her attacks and push them away with the flow of the river. Suijin just stood there, enjoying the 'show' of his own as she fought him.

"You have good form, but you lack power behind it. Seems like you can use a bit more training," Suijin actually complimented her, encouraging her in his own way.

He wasn't even going to use his real strength against this girl, that and he really couldn't hurt a girl completely. It just wasn't in his nature. But still, she was in trouble not being able to break his mighty defense.

Her kick met with the same results, save that this time, the flowing water shield did not thrust her away. She dropped to her feet and backed away a little distance. She didn't know whether he was mocking her, or actually complimenting her, but that didn't matter to her. If she dwelt on his words, she might be unable to keep a cool head, and that was very relevant during combat. Still, he had a point: her physical strength needed some working on. Cleia wasn't sure if, with her stature, she would end up being capable of breaking through rocks with her bare hands... Ah well, it was either possible, or at least a cat could gaze at a king.

Since physical attacks were not working, she would resort to magic. His water snake shield was really nifty, but it had to have a drawback. Maybe it reacted as though it was alive, but it could only defend against what he could see. Since he was cocky, he would probably wait to see the effect of her attack. And with any luck, it would cause him some damage. Drawing back her right hand, she gathered runes to it to form a small sphere, which further split in two. Now, she held two spheres in her hand. She threw the spheres one after the other, so that the first would fly past him, bounce against the door and come rolling back from behind, while the other one she threw at his face, keeping her palm pointed towards him, and open.

Aware that his water snake shield could repel and knock back attacks, the moment the second orb connected with the water of the shield, she clenched the hand facing him and said:

"Katsu!!!"

He would be caught between two Jinrai explosions; their power would merge into one powerful shockwave that could cause serious damage. If the water snake shield was unable to cover his entire body at the same time, perhaps this could cause him some harm...

... if he didn't quickly get out of the way, of course.

(OOC: Just to clarify about the shield, the only reason the shield 'threw you back' was more for the fact of the flowing opposing waters of the shield's nature. Just stating for the record)

Suijin just chuckled as she attempted that other kick-- but now it seemed the gears in her head were starting to move. Sadly, Suijin noticed she hardly ever talked. So much for witty banter. He did like the more ... vocal ladies he met. Clearly this girl was giving all she had to try and overpower Suijin. But things just got interesting when she finally brought her magic into play. Suijin perked up his head in attention.

She saw her form orbs of magic using her runes, and then threw them in two separate directions. He was not too concerned as the small spheres shot at him and the other one using a more irregular launch. He kind of knew it would be one of those tricks but he didn't move or dodge. He let his shield do the work .

The two spheres made contact and without fail, the water of his shield intercepted it, catching them . "You're going to have to do better than that--!"

BOOM!!

The runes exploded, causing a large shock that rattled the suspended foundation of the upper tier of the theater. Luckily, the audience and actors below them merely thought it was very realistic special effects as one of the scenes going on was in fact one that involved a storm.

As the smoke cleared, Suijin still stood there, without a scratch-- but for Cleia's view the shield had indeed taken far more damage than she had done up till now. Patches of water were missing from the coil and spread out. The eruption did indeed do damage to the shield. "Ah, so you have some real power AFTER ALL, " he said, amused that her magic made up for her more frailer form.

Suijin still was not injured, if nothing else the blastwave of the explosion messed up his hair. He merely straightened it out with a brush of his hand. He returned his attention to the young lady. "Cute and you have promise, but I'm afraid I am still out of your league," he said, a cunning smirk still on his face. "Here, let me show just how in over your head you are..."

With that, Suijin slowly turned around , his water shield still protecting him. With him still glancing over his shoulder, he flexed his arm as his back was to her, as if to show off not only his handsome physic but to reveal something-- a mark below his right shoulder on his back. And noticable one too-- the twin sledge-hammers crossing one another, forming two T's. The Emblem of Tartaros!

And now it would begin to become clear to Cleia who this man was. He had grown infamous in Fiore for not only being one of Tartaros' top members, but also obtaining a magic that was one of the most powerful in the world. And seeing the waters around him, she could do the math, and tell it was him. He was Suijin the Water Dragon Slayer-- The Tsunami of Tartaros.

"I actually have been playing nice with you up till now, " he said, lowering his arm and turning back around, the water serpent still slithering in the air around him. With his rather charismatic face, it was hard to see him as a dark mage, but the mark said it all. And Tartaros mages were rumored for their most destructive of nature. "If you still wanna fight, bring it on. But it's about time i go on the offense now..." he warned.

Note: As this is still a D class mission, you need not worry about damage as all Suijin's spells are going to be reduced in effectiveness. He is still going easy on ya :P
