Ask away; I have all the answers.

Diamonds weren't actually as rare as many people think. The reason why it's so valuable, expensive, and hard to get lies solely on the fact that only one company controls the market for diamonds. This allows the head of the company to set prices to whatever they want since they have no competitors. It's not common knowledge and no one can stop them from mining the world's hardest gem so they will forever be expensive and girls best friend. The latter will explain why Ryan Repaer was at a jewelry store with his "girlfriend" looking at diamonds. Even though the hunter knew that diamonds could really be worth the same as hamburger or a really good steak, there was no saying "no" to the lady by him; he tried once, it was terrible. "This one looks nice," his date said, trying out the earrings and flashing them at Ryan who was barely paying attention. He turned towards her and nodded as uninterested as possible. The girl pouted, "You don't even care do you?" Of course he didn't care, he was a guy and he didn't give a rat's ass about her. This was all just foreplay leading to the greater fun. But he had to keep the girl interested in him for it to be exciting. "Of course I don't care, why should I when I already have a precious gem in front of me? You're more beautiful and valuable then some rock," he huffed and matched her pout and winked teasingly. The girl beamed brightly at his words and hugged him tightly--it felt disgusting. Then he could feel her playing with his earring much to his discomfort. It was his chest that kept all his valuable items in and a gift in honor of his late father; something boiled in him and it wasn't some passing gas. But she stopped before he could do anything about it. "Maybe we could get matching ones?" |

Aisan found himself out of his home city of Tessera very little; it just didn’t make much sense to leave a city where he made enough income to live comfortably even if he still resided on the streets and the only other places he could move around to either had few opportunities for the rookie cutthroat or too much, he dabbled in the darker side of things, from time to time slicing a throat or two but the deep-deep stuff was far beyond his scope. But this was one of the few times he was in another location; half way across the country in fact. The towering and picturesque city of Poinsettia was far beyond his normal scope, he had wound up here following a bit of information, taking a slight leap of faith was something he didn’t usually do, but this time to was to advance his very basic poisoncraft, a skill he knew he’d need to cultivate and grow for the future if he wanted any of the higher paid work he’d heard about in those deep-deep dark cities. “Watch it.” “Out the way.” “Would you like to buy some flowers?” “What’s that smell?” “Hey you!” The reams of words kept flying around him, a good few even aimed at him; it was rare in his home city for other people to talk to each other without some motive, but he was well aware he wasn’t at home anymore. Keeping his head down and his hood pulled up; sure it drew some attention to him, not many people walked through the streets clad in black leather looking like they were out for trouble in this sort of place, most of the men wore frilly frocks, the sort that not even the women he knew would try on. “You, where is this.” Aisan said in a blunt and slightly stifled manner, he felt out of place enough to act a little more on the shy side. Poking a child no older than thirteen with the piece of paper with a few words written on it he waited for a response. “My mommy told me to not talk to strangers.” The kid said, glancing wearily back and forth from paper to man obviously feeling unnerved by the presence or the smell of the unwashed street rat. Taking a few moments to weigh things up, the kid finally pointed off into the distance. Pulling the paper from the kid, Aisan started a more confident saunter off in that direction, glancing back to the paper with a curious look. He knew most of the words on it, but his education was nothing formal; most of the time he pieced stuff together or paid for a bit of help, but this time the aid was free. The only information he was sure about was that there were meant to be a series of books in a public library in the city, some of them detailing some information of poisons, his area of interest, the difference about this city that had caused him to abandon his usual wary attitude to leave his normal abode was the apparent number of pictures these books had in them. Also he didn’t want to make it known in Tessera that he had any interest in toxins, the next murder that happened with one involved would place a mark on his head even if it wasn’t him, a low level assassin made a good scape goat if one was needed. It soon became apparent that he had no idea where the kid had sent him, he was meant to be headed towards a building with a load of books in it, but after running into a shopping district dead end it was very clearly that wherever this was, it wasn’t where he was aiming to go. Having to swallow any pride he had, that being a teaspoon at most Aisan looked around for anyone slightly older to ask the question to. Most seemed like airheads who avoided the shadowy looking and stinking street rat. Finally pulling his hood down him tried once more but to no avail. “Oi. You!” Aisan yelled at one passer-by, almost thrusting the piece of paper into his face. “Where is this?” He asked in such a tone that the guy knew ‘No’ wasn’t an acceptable answer. “I-I’m sorry, I I don’t know.” The guy said, almost collapsing to the floor in shock. Before Aisan had time to press him anymore, or at least kick a man while he was down, he turned on his heels and headed the other way, making sure the guards who’d turned the corner after hearing a raised voice didn’t hear him. One corner became three and before he felt confident enough to slow the pace, the street rat side stepped into what he thought was an alley, but soon enough realised was the entrance to a slightly inset shop. “Crap.” He sighed to himself glancing around at the room full of shiny things and one or two people, sweat more out of worry than fatigue gathering on his brow. Using the paper to wipe it off he looked around, hoping to hide In case the guards ran past, and maybe hit a home run and find someone to give him some info. |
