Everything was going pretty much according to plan at the start. They had found the other group of people without any issue thanks to the Dragon Slayer’s heightened sense of smell, and they had at least one of the pokeballs on them. Now they just had to be convinced to hand it over without causing any trouble. ”Alright then. Gonna try this the nice way first. I’d rather avoid a fight if possible.” She made her way up to the clearing, and it was clearly a pretty bizarre scenario for the lumber jacks. The first to acknowledge her presence was Paul, the biggest of the lumberjacks. ”You lost or sumthin?” An quick roll of the eyes slipped past Razia’s guard before she responded. ”I’m not lost, no, but I’m searching for something that our client lost, and it seems you all have found. But first, let me introduce myself. I’m Razia, from Lamia Scale.” That introduction was met with a chorus of laughter from the lumberjacks. How could one so small be a guild mage? ”Sure, sure, and I’m the king of Fiore! Hah!” She had been smiling at the start, but that had rapidly developed into a scowl with how she was treated. ”Okay, look, I’m trying to do this the nice way. The little metal sphere you’ve got there is the property of our client. He has a reward out for their return, and the contract makes it only payable to guild mages. You seem like sensible enough folks, so I’ll be happy to pay out a share for any of the pokeballs you’ve found.” One word there had clearly caught their attention. The idea that they would get paid was definitely something to pique their interest. ”How much we talkin girly?” His tone was far more serious this time around. Though the Lamia Scale Mage had a bit of spunk in her, she didn’t really feel like trying to lie to the lumberjacks. ”There’s 10 total, and a total reward of 600,000 Jewels. That makes 60,000 per one you’ve found. Even share. Not a dime taken out for us having an immediate buyer or anything.” To someone who didn’t have the lucrative income of a guild mage, 180,000 Jewels was a decent chunk of money. It was definitely more than any of them would have made that day, but it wasn’t a truly exorbitant sum either. Hopefully it would be enough to convince them to part ways with the three balls they had found though, as Razia definitely wasn’t going to pay more than they were getting paid for them. |

Yuurei noted what she had said and he saw her move first between the two and he just wonder how they would react to the girl. He followed after her and he noticed that the big guy had seen her first. It seemed like he was quick to say something stupid and she was quick to answer him. He just stood in the back quietly as he looked at the other four who was around the area. He was just eyeing them and making sure that they didn’t do anything stupid. He just listen to Razia as she was telling them what she wanted from them in a nice manner and at the same time she was quick to introduce herself to the men around her, yet he didn’t say anything as he looked at the guys who were laughing at her. He rubbed the back of his head as he was trying to figure out what was so funny. The guy called himself the king of Fiore, but it was easy enough to hear the sarcasm that had run through the words he said. ”These guys didn’t even look like nice and polite people, but I guess we will see how things will go,” he thought to himself as he looked over to her and wonder what she was going to say next. While he stood there, he heard words and he was surprised that she had gotten into details and even offer to pay them. That was a nice way of approaching things, but it was something that he would never do. He was surprised, but it seemed like it interesting the lumberjack quite a bit. He allowed her to be on point, so he didn’t step in or anything like that. He just stood in the back as it seemed like they wanted to know how much were they getting. The amount she had offered to them wasn’t that much, well it was a lot, but in his eyes it wasn’t that much. He had been doing a lot of jobs, so the amount of money he had made him pretty wealthy at the end of the day. He sighed because she was planning on giving up money so she could avoid a problem here. The lumberjack looked at her as had thought about the three pokeballs that they had collected. He took them out to recount them and smile because they had three so far. ”So we got three of them, so you will be giving us a hundred and eighty thousand jewels? That’s not bad and how many of them have you guys found?” he asked curiously. Yuurei didn’t say anything, but he smiled because they had three of them. That was perfect because their search for the pokeballs wouldn’t be any longer than they thought it would be. They had nine of them all together around them and they were going to have to look for the last one. Still, he looked over Razia and wonder if she was really going to pay them to get the pokeballs into their hand. ”You really going through with this aren’t you?” he asked her quietly as they were going to make a lot of profit from just finding some pokeballs. The other men started to talk amongst each other now about how much they were getting. Edited by Jova, Jul 3 2015, 06:33 PM.

It was too easy. Sometimes you didn’t need to be violent to solve a problem, but this just felt too easy. Yuurei seemed a bit concerned that Razia was willing to give up some of the reward, but it was the only real non-violent option with a decent chance of success. ”No other choice really,” she whispered back to the Dragon Slayer. ”They’ve done nothing wrong, so we can’t just mug them or anything now can we?” It was pretty cut and dry from where she saw it. Unless they were attacked first, it would be both amoral and unlawful for them to attack the lumberjacks. Continuing with complete honesty was risky though. If the lumberjacks realized that the search was almost over, and their potential payment was limited, they might not agree to the deal. Still, she had to try being diplomatic, even if it wasn’t her preferred method. ”We’ve found six so far, which means there’s one left to go. I’ll offer up another 60,000 if you happen across that one, but why don’t we just take care of payment for these three first?” She pulled a bag of jewels out of her pocket that was about the right amount, and held it up before the crowd of men. ”This should be enough for you guys to have a pretty good break from hard work for a bit. And I can guarantee you won’t get a better offer, because our client is the owner of those.” It seemed like Paul had a bright idea though. ”And what’s stopping us from just goin right to the source and asking for more? Or just selling them to someone else for even more?” The Exquip Mage sighed audibly. She had hoped that he would’ve been smarter than this. ”I’m offering you a finders’ fee, not a purchase. If you tried to sell them to anyone else, they’d be considered stolen goods, and you’d have a bounty on your heads twice as high as whatever you made for them within an hour. As for trying to sell them to our client for more, you have no clue who our client is or where they are. You’ve got your offer. Take it or leave it.” Hopefully her words had been persuasion enough. She had made it pretty clear that just keeping them would be problematic, as would trying to sell them to someone else… and since they didn’t know anything about the mage’s client, they’d have a hard time trying to extort money from him. None of the lumberjacks really seemed like criminals… so hopefully they’d just take the easy money rather than making a big fuss out of it. |

Yuurei understood where she was coming from. It wasn’t that he was saying, hey let’s attack them, but this wasn’t their job. They didn’t really deserve the reward because they didn’t know it was a job in the first place. Still, he figured there was nothing to do, but be okay with it. He just hoping that nothing had gone out of hand afterwards. He was surprised she had told them how much of the pokeballs they had found. It seemed like she was quick to pull out the money for them to trade with the three pokeballs. He smiled because he figured he could help out with the amount of money they would have to give up. This wasn’t a fun plan for him, but it was a good plan and they would not have to fight, nor go through the struggles of looking for these damn pokeballs. He was just hoping that these men were willing to commit to the trade. He looked over to the lumberjack as he could see his facial expression had changed. After she had spoken up it seemed like he was thinking about something, which couldn’t be good. The man was quick to ask questions and he chuckled because he figure that they were trying to see, if they could find a better deal than this at the end of the day. He shook his head and placed his palm over his forehead because there was money right in their face and they weren’t taking it. He had changed his right hand into a fist now as he was ready for something to happen. He wasn’t sure, but he figured being prepared when the other person in the group was trying to solve this peacefully was for the best. He laughed a bit as Razia wasn’t happy with what he said. That was quite funny, which made him look around the area because there was still one more pokeball missing. If they found three of the balls around here, then he figured that probably the last one was probably around here as well. He continued to look around as he figured that she could handle this without a problem. ”Now where can you be?” he asked himself as he started walking off in a random direction, but didn’t leave the area. The last thing he would have wanted was these guys to try and act almighty around her because he had walked away. Paul looked at her and understood what she was saying. They would be in big trouble especially since they knew now that they were property to another person. He scratched his head as he couldn’t believe this crap as he thought they landed on a gold mine. ”Fine I understand, but if we find the last sphere thing we get more money,” he smiled as he looked back at his men. ”Start looking guys we got easy money to make!” he shouted at his men as they shouted and had gone to work to look for the last pokeball. Yuurei had started ahead of them because he was bored and he wasn’t really talking much. |

Eventually the lumberjack realized he didn’t really have any other option than to work with the mages. Given how often Razia was going on missions lately, she didn’t really care that much about losing out a bit of her reward to avoid a fight. The clients usually tended to throw in a bit more money than was on the poster, so that would honestly probably cover the expenses, especially if one of the mages found the last one. There was one thing the lumberjack had forgotten though, and that was to actually make the trade. ”Before you go wandering off, let’s actually trade out the money for those items. I’ll get you another sixty-k if you happen to find the last one.” The man seemed a bit confused, probably because he had forgotten all about the immediate profit in hopes of making even more. ”Oh, right, here ya go.” They traded off the jewels for the pokeballs, and that was all settled. Neither of them tried any funny business. Razia didn’t feel like getting into a fight, and the lumberjack seemed to have realized that this was the best bet he had for earning some quick money. If he tried to do anything stupid, then he might’ve been out a bunch of money, just like that. With that all settled, the Exquip Mage rejoined the Dragon Slayer on their search for the last pokeball. She made her way back over to the sword she’d spiked into the ground and sheathed it in her belt. After the agreement she’d come to with the lumberjacks, she didn’t really care if they saw her armed anymore. They had learned that she was a bit too sharp to be crossed, and she didn’t really need to act diplomatic around them anymore now that she had all the pokeballs they had found. From there, it was back to the old grind. They went in circles once more, in opposite directions. The lumberjacks had a fairly haphazard method of searching, so they weren’t all that effective. The mages on the other hand, had a very well established pattern in place. Assuming they just stuck to their pattern, they’d stumble across the last one sooner or later. On the other hand, the lumberjacks might find it a bit sooner, but it was also totally possible that they’d just wander right by it since there was no real pattern to their methods. They could easily just take a random turn, and then a second one, and have never even looked in the area that was it was in. Still, this whole thing would’ve been so much dang easier if Yuurei could’ve just gotten a unique scent off the dang things. Ah well. |

Yuurei was looking around for the last pokeball now as he was ahead of everybody right now. He was looking for it as he had continued the pattern Razia and he had been using since the beginning. He figured going around aimlessly would only frustrate him anyways and soon after Razia was there to join him with the search. While he was going through the pattern he could see that lumberjacks were also moving around the place. It seemed like they were determine to get a bigger share of the money that Razia had just gave them. He smile because there was no way he was going to do that. He was listening to his music right now as he ignored them and focused a bit more. It didn’t take him long though as he noticed something moving around the area. He was going to ignore it at first because he figured it was an animal, but it wasn’t. There was a pokeball moving around right now and honestly it was floating. He was a bit confused on that, but when he looked closer, he noticed that there were a group of ants that had been carrying it. He didn’t know why they were taking it, but he figured they were planning on using that for something with their home. Still, it sucked because he was going to have to take it from them. Another thing he had noticed though was that he wasn’t the only person around who had seen it. The two eyed each other and froze as they were looking for the opportunity to run after the ball and see which of the two was the fastest to grab the pokeball. Yuurei smiled and the guy was off as he shook his head. The Dragon Slayer started running towards the ball as the two were moving quickly around the area. The guy was reaching out for the pokeball and Yuurei decided to move a little bit quicker. The lumberjack was almost about to grab ahold of the ball, but then it disappeared. Yuurei had grabbed the ball and he dove to get it, but flipped to land on his feet and even avoid the ants that were carrying the ball. ”Not fast enough,” he stood up tall with a smile on his face. The lumberjack was upset about that and he slammed his fist into his thigh. He looked up at Yuurei didn’t think he was that fast, but he was incredibly wrong. Yuurei had walked over to the spot where they would meet up and he smiled as he waved the last pokeball at her. They were able to get through this without much of a hassle, which was a good thing. ”I found the last pokeball. Apparently a group of ants had it. They were taking it home, and then I had a race with a lumberjack for it. And of course you know the outcome,” he laughed about it as he rubbed the back of his head. ”Want to head to Ash’s cottage, so we don’t have to bump into these guys and they decide to ask for more and trouble appears?” he asked with a smile on his face. That little run he had was good for him and it made happy. He loved when he was challenged in speed, but there were those in this world that were faster than him, or at least for the time being. |

It seemed that Yuurei had come up with the last pokeball after a little bit of a showdown with one of the lumberjacks. That meant they knew the last one had been found, and there was nothing stopping them from heading back to Ash’s Cottage. ”Yeah, let’s get moving. No sense in keeping him waiting.” With that, the pair headed back over to Ash’s cottage, as there wasn’t much else for them to do in the forest anymore. And so the two of them arrived back at the cottage with a bit of time to spare before the sun made its way down and day turned to night. The Lamia Scale mage knocked on the door of the cottage, which announced her presence to their client. ”Yo, Ash, we got ‘em.” This time, he had been expecting them, and the door swung open almost immediately. ”All of them?” His eyes were practically aglow with the idea that all of his precious pokeballs would be returned to him. ”Yeah, all of them.” She pulled the ones she had recovered out of her various pockets and handed them over to their client. Once Yuurei had done the same, Ash spoke up. ”Great! Thanks!” He went to shut the door as if they were done, but he had definitely forgotten one part of the arrangement. He tried to shut the door, but it didn’t move an inch as Razia was leaning into it. She cleared her throat, and that was all it took to remind their client that he actually owed them quite a bit of money. ”Oh, yeah, let me go get your jewels!” He disappeared into a different part of the cottage, and came back a minute or two later. Honestly, the Exquip Mage was a bit worried that he had tried to sneak out the back based on how long he had taken, but she figured that the Dragon Slayer would have been able to smell him if he tried to leave. Soon enough though, they had their payment, but Razia still wanted one more thing. ”So, you mind showing us those things in action? They sounded pretty impressive, and I’d like to see a demo of how they work.” That little extra request seemed to make Ash rather happy. It wasn’t likely that people asked about his tech every day, and now he had a willing audience! This was a rare opportunity for him to show off, and he intended to take advantage of it. |

Yuurei smiled as she was quick to agree with him. He was quick to move from where they were as they no longer had a purpose there. They had finished their job, so why not head back and see the client right? The two were quick to make their way there and when they got there Razia was quick to make her move on knocking the door. He was surprised the young boy wasn’t waiting for them to appear at the front of his house. He would have, if he lost something precious and someone was looking for it. Still, that was kind of the case as the boy was right by the door and he opened it quickly as Razia was making his day apparently. She handed him the pokeballs and it seemed like he was really happy, but he had forgotten he had a few with him. The Dragon Slayer had taken the pokeballs out of his pockets and he walked over to the man and given him the rest of the pokeballs. Once they were done with that it seemed like he was too excited to think. Yuurei looked at him as if he was about to leave them waiting for their reward right now. He rubbed the back of his head because this was a bit awkward. He looked at Razia and it seemed like she was thinking the same thing as she stopped the door from closing. He chuckled a bit because there was no way they had done this for this guy and they weren’t going to get paid. It seemed like he had really forgotten and he only laughed at that as the man had gone back inside. ”Well you can’t blame him, he lost something precious, so he got overly excited,” he said. He just stood there as he was waiting for his payment and it seemed like the girl next to him was a bit anxious about getting her money. He on the other hand was okay with him taking this long as he was probably gathering up the reward. It didn’t take long for him to come back and he was handed a bag with jewels. Yuurei had bounced around his palm for a bit and tossed it to the other hand now with a smile on his face. ”This is pretty good reward,” he said. ”Yeah you guys got something important back to me,” he said as he looked over to Razia who had asked him to show him what his pokeballs could do. Yuurei was actually wondering what they could do, so he figured they would find out now. ”That doesn’t sound like a bad idea. It will be fun to see,” he said curious to see what was inside of it. Ash nodded as he walked away from his cottage and towards the two of them as he had taken one of his pokeballs into his hand. He tossed his ball straight at the ground with force and Yuurei looked at Razia with a smile on his face. ”I choose you Gengar,” he said and as soon as the ball hit the ground a purple void looking creature had shown up from the ball. Yuurei actually flinched a bit as he didn’t see that coming. Still, it didn’t seem like it was going to attack any of them and the creature had run over to Ash and hugged him before it did anything else. ”That kind of got me on my toes,” he said to Razia. |

She should not have asked for that. She definitely should not have asked for that. The thing that Ash released gave her flashbacks to the first major adventure that the two mages had taken together. Back when they had journeyed into The Void and fought both a king and his army. It was one of the most trying experiences that Razia had been through so far, and she really didn’t want to see another creature that looked so horribly close to the beasts they had fought back then. Nonetheless, she maintained a calm face, aside from one moment of “oh shit” that flashed across her face before it went back to normal. But that was just a brief moment, and it was gone just as quickly as it came. ”Very interesting stuff. Thanks for the demo Ash.” She turned to the Dragon Slayer, and it was clear that she was ready to get going. Still, she said it aloud anyway. ”Let’s get heading back. Those other jobs aren’t going to do themselves are they?” It was with those words that she excused herself and left the client’s home. She stepped outside and waited for the Dragon Slayer to follow before she headed out onto the road back out of the forest. ”So, another job down, and a fairly easy one at that.” Overall, she thought she had done pretty well. The entire thing had been handled without any real incidents, and had generally gone smoothly. The only real sour notes she could think of was a slightly lower reward than advertised because she paid off the lumberjacks, and the bit with the bear. Both of those seemed like they’d been handled well enough in her eyes though. That said, her opinion didn’t really matter much. She was under Yuurei’s tutelage, and thus his opinion was the important one. ”Any complaints or feedback on how I handled the mission? You didn’t really talk all that much about my decisions as I made them, so I’m a bit curious what you thought.” He had said that this was going to be her turn to take the lead, and now she wanted to know if he thought she’d done a good job. This mission has been just as much about proving her merit as it had been about anything else. There was no way to know if she had passed the test other than by asking, but given that they had a satisfied client behind them and jewels in their pockets, she couldn’t see a way that she could get an overall failing grade. Yuurei noticed that Razia was looking at him; it was like she was burning her eyes into his soul even if it were for a few seconds. He looked over to her and he heard what she said and chuckled as it seemed like doing these jobs really came in handy after all. ”Yeah I guess you are right. You could never do too much of the jobs that are on the boards. You just got to take the ones that are interesting and available for us to do,” he said out loud. He bowed to Ash and then left the kid’s house as he seemed very happy to be with the creatures he had kept inside of those pokeballs. ”It wasn’t a bad job either. Getting jewels like this pays well no matter what kind of job it is. Still, just you wait until I take you onto a much hard job,” he chuckled as he looked over to her. ”Still, for that to actually happen I need to whip you up to a stronger state than you are now. It’s either that, or I’m going to hear an earful from my guild master, and trust me I don’t want that,” the best thing she could do was go with him on trips through C class jobs. He wouldn’t have mind doing an A rank with her, but he figured that he could wait a bit before that actually happened. Yuurei was asked about how she handled the mission. He could only smile at that because he was waiting for her to ask him. ”Um… well let’s see.” he said as he rubbed his chin this time as he was looking up into the air as he was thinking about what they had done their whole entire time since they got to Lavender Forest. He continued to think about everything that had happened and when he was done he smiled at her. ”I have no complaints. You did well on going to the client, which not a lot of people do for some reason. You split up, but made sure we didn’t lose each other, which was perfect. You started off slow, but that changed quickly,” he paused for a bit. He took in air and exhaled it right after. ”The lumberjacks you handle well. They were smart enough to take the money instead of fighting you for the rest of the pokeballs. I was actually surprised by how they acted. You are great when it comes to doing things on your own or with a group,” he said hoping that she would be happy about that. He was honestly saying the truth about everything he said and that was why he didn’t say anything. The Dragon Slayer just cracked his neck and cracked his knuckles as well. ”I didn’t speak only because I didn’t want to under mind you, but don’t worry in the future I will,” he chuckled a bit. They had a productive day and it was time well spent. They had done their job and now they were going back home, so they could go and possibly get on another job to do. Yuurei had been helping Razia get jewel for her equipment, but at the same time making sure that her name had also gone out there. The more people knew she was good at doing her job, then the more people who would want her to do more jobs for them. Still, they were off and onto a new adventure and possibly one that could be as normal as this one. |
